**Full disclosure: I’ve known Sue since I was 4 years old and she was three. I was best friends with her older sister from nursery school through grade school. I would never write a good review based on knowing someone. If I didn’t like the book I wouldn’t write a review. I strongly believe reviews are for readers to help them choose books, not to stroke the egos of writers or to curry favor between friends. My honest review is my integrity.**
Suzanne Jones weaves together her person experiences with trauma a details how she used TIMBo to both heal herself and help others find their own inner strengths through yoga. She also includes research and schools of thought from a variety of professionals across different fields from developmental psychology to Buddhism in her eclectic approach to healing as well as exercises individuals can use to process their experiences.
Whether readers relate to Sue’s personal stories or students’, they’ll find parallels between big Traumas or small traumas we all experience, even if we don’t call or consider them traumas, like being excluded from playing with a sibling and her friend, which can seem HUGE to a three-year-old. Jones focuses on acknowledgment and healing.
THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX is a helpful tool in overcoming pain and living a more meaningful life.
The author uses scientific proof and stories from her own experiences to teach us about our own emotions. It helped me look back at my own experiences as a child/adolescent and understand how they play a role in the blocks I experience as an adult. The book offers helpful exercises to work through the guilt, shame, resentment, and doubt that we all experience at times. Easy to read and understand.
There Is Nothing to Fix is The Power of Now Blended with contextual investigations and accounts of genuine individuals stories you can associate with the book represents the intensity of Jones' way to deal with make intrinsic mending and expectation.
lessons on self-empathy, enthusiastic guideline, and solid connections end, by heading off to the wellspring of enduring change—the body.
This book gives a viable focal point through which perusers can comprehend their reactions and feelings while offering bit by bit direction for changing these reactions, all with an accentuation on sympathy and strengthening.
Through this progressive methodology you will have the option to encounter genuine opportunity from the consistent desire to fix yourself all things considered. Author Jones shows you ordinary instruments to construct fearlessness, self-sympathy, and generally significant, self-acknowledgment.
There Is Nothing to Fix shows us how to suspend judgment, become inquisitive, and find enthusiastic opportunity from inside.
1.The cover page and the book title are interesting. 2.The language is simple and lucid
I greatly respect Jones' mission to help heal trauma survivors, especially female trauma survivors. Her book is well-researched and offers helpful nuggets of information on how, in our formative years, we tend to choose connection to others over being authentic to ourselves and how we can become very lost in the process and wind up choosing maladaptive coping strategies. There are multiple points in this book I will continue to return to during challenging moments, particularly addressing a younger version of oneself on how certain long-held beliefs are no longer useful or protective.
For survivors of sexual abuse and/or abuse of many different kinds, Jones' in-depth case studies of trauma survivors can be somewhat triggering. Jones was also extremely brave in sharing -- in detail -- her experience with sexual abuse and prolonged gaslighting due to her husband. However, I found myself skimming through most of these passages in search of keywords and read each with caution. These personal narratives do a nice job of bringing concrete examples to her points and recommended healing techniques, but I was left wondering if there would be other ways to get these points across in a safer, less triggering way? Or perhaps to offer initial warnings to the reader?
A quick glance at the cover and synopsis leaves the casual reader with the impression that this is a standard self help book. Upon closer inspection, one finds that Jones' content deeply connects to her yoga practice and chakra philosophies. Personally, I incorporate a number of aspects of yoga and meditation into my daily life, but I can imagine that avid self-help readers who do not do this may find themselves surprised once they get deeper into the work. I also found myself wishing for more information on the techniques Jones uses in her TIMBo workshops -- I feel the book gives us only a small taste to encourage us to try a workshop in person.
I admire Jones' ability to take incredibly challenging periods in her life, seek healing (as she describes -- always a painful process), and deeply delve into research and healing practices with the intention of helping others. I've passed this book along to a good friend who is dedicated to helping women, spiritual healing, and cultivating a rich yoga practice. I gained helpful information from this book, and I know she will as well.

All we have to do is follow some simple exercise that can bring peace and calm to us when we are broke or angry. This is the first time I am reading a book based on the concept of trauma but I should say that it is and will be the best book on this topic. I really loved below quote by Rabindranath Tagore that is there in the book: “Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings while the dawn is still dark.”
This book is not just for reading. It requires us to read, analyze ourselves, make notes and act upon the suggestions provided in the book. Pick this book and read atleast once. You would find it really worth.

This is a bit of a tough book to rate.
Suzanne Jones shares the TIMBo (Trauma informed mind body) approach, which is rooted in self acceptance. Jones shares this technique so people can facilitate their own healing from different kinds of trauma they've faced in their lives.
However, Jones also shares lots of stories about trauma. Perhaps to give us context, perhaps to show how effective this technique is that TIMBo has helped people in a variety of situations, but from the abusive relationship Jones opens the book with and other stories throughout, the stories could be triggering for some. Jones also uses the word "primitive" to describe mothers in developing countries, which feels gross in 2020. The point was that trauma transcends location, race, class, etc. but still comes across as tone deaf. For a book on healing I was surprised how much space is taken up by anecdotes about trauma.
That being said, there are exercises at the end of each chapter that represent a step in the 7 steps of moving through shame and trauma. These exercises include writing prompts and movements to do with your body.
Jones also cites a lot of other techniques for healing throughout the book that the TIMBo approach is built on. People can check those out as well.
Overall it was an unexpected approach to the idea of healing, but there are interesting prompts to explore undoing trauma in this book.
Suzanne Jones has written a very interesting and practical book that can help people process and heal from trauma, which we have all experienced in one way or another. It is easy to read yet also contains relevant research that has been done in this field. The case studies provided in the book are interesting to read and provide real world examples of how these principles work to change lives. The focus on compassion and empowerment is a message that needs to be heard in today's world. As a counsellor, I have found it both personally life changing and a very valuable resource that I am now recommending to my clients.
Through her own traumatic experience the author finds ways to heal through breath work and body awareness. A powerful journey that shows the reader we already have everything we need inside us to heal.
TIMBo: Trauma- Informed Mind Body 🦄🦄🦄 There Is Nothing To Fix by Suzanne Jones is the author's way of reaching out to those who are suffering and need help to find their true self with the help of her own experiences and story. She is an expert in the field of trauma recovery through somatic methods and has developed the TIMBo program to help those who are suffering more than a decade ago. 🦄🦄🦄 You do not need to change yourself for anyone else's benefit so much so that you lose who you truly are. Yes, you can be a better version of you, but once a person becomes subject to completely changing themselves in a relationship for the happiness of their partner by leaving everyone and everything they love behind, that's a sign of a toxic relationship. But this book isn't just about suffering, it's about healing, it helps you move forward. The author has experienced this first-hand and it was this experience that helped her grow and learn to love herself. This book does not contain broad based suggestions to help those who have gone through trauma, but instead has practical ones that work. There are cited examples of people such as Renee who has tried the TIMBo method and it has worked wonders. This book won't solve your problems instantly, healing takes time but if given the time and patience, you can find yourself and your happiness. 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 10/10 Melina L.

I really liked the content in the book as reading about the problems one is facing can assure him that he/she is not the only one affected by life events in such a way as the book is based on real life experience and it also unveils the method to cope up and get back to life. The language used is simple to understand and goes with the content. The title is aptly chosen as it suggests that it is indeed a phase of life and not a disease which needs to be fixed. It is just the way our system reacts to certain events and it leaves a deep impact on our minds which can be dealt with if chosen the correct way. The cover page is attractive. First it will show you, then guide way and at last helps you find the perfect way to start things good again. Book has every element that helps a person to find himself. Pick up the book and find yourself as a part of it.
Mental health has been the most essential yet the least talked about pillar of living a peaceful life. If one goes around to tell people, he isn't feeling well mentally, the public mocks him as they only consider a visible mark on someone's body, as a sign of despair. This alarming topic has again caught attention due to the sudden untimely demise of one of the most intelligent yet humble actors, Late Sushant Singh ji recently. It made me pick this fantastic self help novel and complete it in single sitting due to the sheer amount of wisdom encapsulated in it.
The book, not only deals with the solutions of one's unstable mental psyche but also goes to the root of the problem and addresses various other elements related to it.
The authoress has also beautifully expressed the ways to manoeuvre it, even before the onset of the ailment and not be hell bent on fixing it. The writer also mentions how by mere acceptance and optimism one can easily get rid of the problem and also tell creative ways to deal with the social stigma related to the issue.
The cover page is beautifully carved and the language employed is even more soothing. It's like a therapy going on. Highly recommended.
The book name sounds really interesting to me "There Is Nothing To Fix" by author Suzanne Jones as it makes me feel much more motivated. I can totally relate to the story as in childhood I was enjoying life a lot more. Self confidence and happiness was my strength at that time but now I can clearly see there is a lack of confidence in me and confusion messed up the things which I do.
A whole new way to see the things around and never doubt yourself, be quick in decision making, always look forward and keep going strong in life to achieve your goals. This book is priceless as there is a lot more to learn from it. Life changing thoughts to keep in mind and implementing in life can make you a successful person.
I loved this book, very well written. Chapter 12 "Doubt" is what I loved the most reading about as it keeps me connected to my real life story and to read about how one can overcome through this and feel more confident in life will help me surely.
Overall a book full of knowledge, motivation, real life examples, Healing Process etc.. makes it worth to read. Make sure to give it a try, you will surely going to love this book.

We have daily check ins on line. I recommend that as well.
