Deadly Silence (Kylie Hatfield Series Book 5) by Mary Stone , Bella Cross this is an awesome edition to this awesome series. This is book number five in this awesome series and I highly recommend this story to everyone.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Of the Kylie series. Well the authors said so and I wondered if it would end in a way that I could easily let it go. It did. I mean honestly what could they do. Kylie and Linc and Storm and Vader were a pleasant and lively group but the last book was just too too.
When Kylie Hatfield and Linc Counter first met, each found the other annoying, impossible and utterly attractive. Brought together at the office of Linc's veterinary where Kylie had brought a rambunctious dog she had found injured, they had nothing in common. Linc was totally organized - a Search and Rescue member and canine trainer. On the other hand, Kylie was flighty, the new office assistant to a local Private Investigator.
The task of training the girl and her oversized, zany dog fell to Linc by default. He was, after all the best trainer in Asheville. The pair mixed as well as oil and water, but Julie's knack for trouble soon brought out the rescuer in Linc. A few life saving events and the two realized their weird connection may have a more personal component.
Throughout the series, Stone and Cross, capture the read not only in the mysteries but also in the romance. Deadly Silence begins as the now married Coulters begin to meld their lives and their businesses.
Kylie's ability to attract cases continues to complicate and threaten the relationship, until a bizarre and unexpected twist tests the couple. This reader believes there are many more adventures for Coulter Connections and hopes to see Book 6 in their future.
I love the opportunity to meet new female lead characters, especially when their occupation is not that of a cop (although private investigator is close). I binged and read the whole series, hoping as I got into it that I would get to like Kylie more than I did in the first book. But I didn't. Kylie is so self centered and self-absorbed she ignores the advice of others who know more than her and are trying to help and teach her. Hired as a secretary in a one man PI firm she insists that she is actually a PI as she dives head long into cases without thinking of the consequences to herself and others simply because its her 'calling' and she knows more than her boss or other professionals. She's also presumptuous enough, but not in a good way, to believe the rules don't apply to her, including those related to the law and those regarding necessary training to get her actual PI license. The plots are actually quite interesting. But the descriptions of the sexual attraction between Kylie and Linc are annoying and get in the way of the story and seem to be written by a horny teenager and not the adults who wrote the rest of the stories and get in the way. The other characters are well written (except for Linc's many horny thoughts).
Bittersweet, Like Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend!
Deadly Silence the 5th and final book in the Kylie Hatfield series, was once again a book that I couldn't put down. I literally started and finished it in less then 5 hours. But once I finished , I wished I hadn't read it so quickly, because it meant saying goodbye to some very special book friends! I hate leaving Asheville and Kylie, Linc and all those loveable dogs behind! I have plenty to read but somehow, I know, it won't be the same as the Kylie Hatfield series. For the last couple of weeks I have escaped my mundane life by immersing myself in Kylie Hatfield's exciting world. A world entirely created by the minds of Mary Stone and Bella Cross. These two talented authors have developed some very strong and relatable characters in this series. Even while I am excited to start on several books in my to be read pile, I will miss the suspense and mystery that Stone and Cross have elevated into an art form. This series is entertaining as well as roller coaster ride of twisted plots. I highly recommend you read the whole series for it is as much fun as a houseful of playful Newshephardlands puppies!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and series. When I read the blurb that this was the last I was shocked because it is so good! I love the personalities, relationships, quirks, cases and just overall dynamic of the series.
In this book Kylie is working on a case, taking over the company business and trying to come to terms with a big change...all in the first few chapters! The emotions and dialogue are great and they are relatable. I enjoyed the POV from both Kylie and Linc. This story is fast paced and covers a heartbreaking topic. The pups do not feature as heavily in this story, but we do still get a good dose of them and all their puppy antics!
Mixed thoughts about this final book in the series. Interesting mystery subject. Other related topics were at times really frustrating and annoying. Way too much time spent on hiding things, which made me begin to dislike the two main characters. Dogs were present but did not play key roles in the story development. As the story was being wrapped up, my annoyance with the two main characters decreased. Didn’t come across as the end of the series, but I respect the author’s decision to do so. Glad I read the series from beginning to end (plus the prequel), and bot too disappointed the series is over. Enjoyed it overall.
Is ending. I got hooked on this author by reading the Winter series. While waiting for new books to come out I started reading this series. Now it's ending. I love that these series have strong female leads. I love Kylie and Linc together. But I'm not ready for the series to end. What about the future of the business she took over from Greg? I enjoy this author's style of writing. The characters are very well developed and believable. The dialogue flows smoothly and is very realistic. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Read this entire series in one week just start and couldn't stop. Had to continue to see what messy situation Kylie sourcing herself in. In know there are only the 5 books in this series but with all the drama, suspense and humor not to mention romance this series is absolutely the best of all worlds and provides the introduction of Sky Stryker for another series. It would be great if there could be a book 6 just to let us know how the Coulters are doing along with Storm and Vader.
I didn't write a review of every book in this series deciding to write it after I have read all of the books. It is a fantastic thriller series that makes you not want to stop reading until the end of each book and anxious to read the next one when you finish the book before it. I just! love her writing and will continue to read all of her series's as she puts out there!!
These characters are so genuine that you get completely caught up in the story. You find yourself cringing and then laughing out loud. You go from "don't do it" to " oh my goodness " in a heartbeat. The dogs are an added bonus. The antics of this couple are so much fun. But you have to feel for Linc. That man has his hands full! Great series and I would read it all over again.
I wasn't a big fan of this story many times it was very boring and if it wasn't the last of the series I would have stopped reading. The whole series was good but not great. I think the writing was a bit immature that dragged on at times. Trying to make it a mystery and a love story was not the type of books I like because it turned into more of a love story than a crime story.
If I had to live with this woman I would have killed her right away. This series is the dumbest I have ever read. 20,000 words per chapter too many. I am sure this writer knew better or if not the I pity the person who's brain works this way. After the 2nd book I just skipped whole chapters just to see how it ended up. Thank god there are only 5 of these. I will not be reading any more of this authors books.
Deadly Silence( Kylie Hatfield Amateur Sleuth Mystery Series Book 5)
I loved this book. I am truly happy that Kylie managed to stop a baby laundering operation. She stopped a woman who had been stealing babies for 50 years. I was scared because Kylie found out she was pregnant and didn't tell Linc right off the bat. I was afraid she was going to die. I am glad that they saved her. I can't wait to read the next book.
OMG. This is a very exciting book and series. This series has plenty of excitement. It also has a lot of thrills which keeps you from wanting to put these books down. They keep you in suspense until the very end. I'm sorry that the series ends because I would have loved to read more of this series. I highly recommend this series.
Wow from start to finish, these books have seen Kylie, grow from a confused student to an enigmatic and successful private investigator. With help from Linc, her loving faithful friend, fiancé and husband. High profile deadly cases. Exciting, page turning excellence.
So hoping the authors may decide on writing another book or more on the Coulters. I loved these books. I was able to really tune in to the characters because of how the authors made the details so vivid. I hate they are ending. So if the authors read this. WE WANT MORE.
I enjoyed this series the best out of all Of the Mary Stone series. It didn't drag and the same killer wasn't still after them in every book or in the 6th-8th book in the series. I really like this author and every series she writes I have really liked until the 5th-6th book. I really recommend this series and it was a great story with a beautiful and perfect ending.
Deadly Silence was a great book. Kylie turned out to be responsible and caring when she was shot at due to her snooping. She is a great PI and I for one do not want Kylie’s and Linc’s story to end with the both of their son and daughter. I want to read more of their PI escapades as well as more Sar adventures.
Loved the Kylie Hatfield series! Really going to miss the characters and their adventures. Hopefully they’ll pop up in the new series sometimes. Thanks for bringing Kylie & Linc into our lives and imaginations!
I have read all 5 books in this series! I loved the plots and the development of the characters! Each character contributed so much to the story and each of the 5 books was intriguing and interesting!
Great series. Kylie and Link, love the bantering they do as a couple. Enjoyed the strength and empowering qualities that the female characters have. Great happy ending.
One of the best but scariest cases ever!! I am so happy with how this series ended. I so enjoyed Kylie and Linc and Vader and Storm. Will miss them Hope they show up in another series.
This was an awesome Series. I loved the dogs in these books and all the other characters as well That Kylie is something else. If you like the Stephanie Plum books you should read this series.
I read the entire series and really enjoyed the entire series. It's a must read and very well written to keep you interested all the way to the end. I hope there's more books in this series.
This book has everything I love in a book. It has mystery, action, warmth, romance, babies, and dogs. It is so well-written. I have really enjoyed this whole series. I know I will re-read it through the years.
Great story! Kylie never can stay out of trouble, even being pregnant she attracts trouble. But always gets her man or woman!! Her husband tries to be there. They have lots of dogs to protect their family.
