A gutsy B&B owner with a ski-resort-sized problem. A single father and his children who never celebrate Christmas. Together, can they bring the magic of Christmas to their hometown?
Grace Jensen has been working hard to prepare the small log cabin business she runs with her mother for the most exciting time of the year – Christmas. She loves her job, and it keeps her thoughts away from her divorce. But when a flashy ski resort opens nearby, and starts stealing local business, the holiday season suddenly looks bleak, not just for Grace and her mother, but for everyone in Powderwood. Grace is determined to not give up without a fight, and when she meets Alec, a shifter from the famous Hill Bear clan, she finds a partner in crime. Too bad that he’s a rugged bear god, with the kindest heart she’s ever known. She’s still hurting from the past and just wants to get through Christmas in one piece.
Alec Hill and his clan don’t celebrate Christmas, which is lucky, since the new ski resort that’s been built beside their ancestral territory is turning December into a miserable month. When he discovers that the humans of nearby Powderwood are also suffering—particularly a small, cheerful, feisty one named Grace—he can’t help but get involved. Nothing to do with the fact that his kids love her, or that her sparkling blue eyes and courageous spirit get his bear roaring. He’s sworn off finding a second mate.
Grace is full of festive ideas that might just help both communities save their livelihoods—but they also have the effect of bringing her and Alec closer and closer. As she teaches his kids what the holiday season is about, will a Powderwood Christmas be second-time lucky for Grace and her big, growly bear?
A standalone Christmas story, full of all the romance, magic and warmth of the festive season!
USA Today bestselling author Ariana Hawkes writes spicy romantic stories with lovable characters, plenty of suspense, and a whole lot of laughs. She told her first story at the age of four, and has been writing ever since, for both work and pleasure. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two huskies.
Grace runs a B&B with her mother and things were working out well until a huge ski resort bought up land near the town, cutting off the magnificent view of the mountains to all but those who stay at the ski resort. She and her mother can't compete with the brand new resort and their lavish rooms. But they have to find a way so they can pay their bills.
Alex is a bear shifter and doesn't like the new ski resort either. His wife died five years before and he is raising two small kids by himself. He's doing alright and doesn't want a new relationship since he thinks he won't find another mate. That is until he runs into Grace and she's great with his kids. The funny thing is they run into each other a couple of times and it's easy to see she's great with kids and the kids like her.
Seeing these two flirting a little and how they both are attracted to each other but neither will make the first move was so sweet. But of course there's a misunderstanding and he pulls back but when Grace needs help, she calls Alex and he comes running. Watching them try and fight the pull they feel for each other was a little sad but then I knew it wouldn't be forever so it was fun to see them finally fall for each other.
I think we got a small glimpse of who will have the next book and I can't wait.
Grace just got out of a relationship that wasn't meant to be, a little over a year and already divorced. She swore she would never be in a relationship and lose her heart in the process, so she moves to Powderwood with her mom and helps her run the B&B. Then she meets Alec a bear shifter from the Hill Clan and all her plans to never give her heart away go out the proververbial window. One look at the hunk of a bear and she was done in and his kids stole her heart the moment she met them.
Bear shifter Alec Hill hasn't gotten over his mate dying 5 years ago, the only bruight side is that he has his wonderful cubs to help him through the days. Then he catches a whif of Grace and his bear comes to the fore claiming that she is his mate. How can that be, 2 mates, it has never been seen, or heard of in his clan, but he cant deny the desire he feels everytime he sees her, let alone his bear who won't shut his snout, and the kids adore her.
Can Alec deny Grace for the memory of his dead mate, and can Grace forget her broken heart, he is a shifter after all.
Oh boy. Just the sweetest holiday story! Alec and Grace can probably be described As two lost souls. Their story is sweet and sexy and sad in some parts...it’s always hard to think about prejudice but these two make an amazing pair that overcomes the fear of shifters. And Alec’s kids are a hot! Adorable. And they really make the holiday for Alec and Grace.
This holiday story is a page turner that will hit you in the feels. It is a really good read with a great storyline. Alec and Grace will captivate you with their story.
What a brilliant Christmas story thoroughly enjoyed it how bear hollow lodge was getting cancellations as they where going to the new hotel in town. To try and bring bear shifters holiday makers and town people together Grace organised a Christmas fair where the bear shifters could sell all their homemade one of a kind peace presents. Alec a bear shifter has been spending time with Grace his bear has realised she is there mate even though he has already had one but died 5 yrs earlier leaving him with two children to bring up on his own. Alec has second thoughts about the feelings and relationship brewing with Grace but Grace takes matters into her own hands and won’t let go of Alec that easily. Christmas Day arrives and there is a surprise outside Alecs cabin from Grace and Alec has a surprise for Grace to.
Ariana Hawkes is one of my MOST favorit(est)😉 writers of shifter romances, and I absolutely adored everything about this one! It's filled with all the hope and love we enjoy about the Christmas season. There are amazing characters, and I love the festiveness of it all! Bear shifter Alec is sexy, kind, and an amazing father to two of the cutest little cubs ever! I loved his kid's excitement for the spirit of Christmas. And Grace...what a sweetheart! She's also a very caring and brave woman. Not only was she ready at the drop of a hat to defend her mother's small log cabin business against city developers who built a swanky ski lodge right next door, but the way she worked to help the shifters and stood up for them was admirable and gracious. Her courage in taking on wolves to protect Alec's kids was the icing on the cake. Nothing else to say other than I loved this story to pieces!😍💕💕
A heart-warming tale just in time for the holidays. I love the way Ariana weaves her tales, giving you the feeling that you are right there with her characters. In this story, we have the pleasure of meeting Grace and Alec, as well as many of the Hill Bear Clan. And lets not forget Noah and Harper, two of the cutest cubs out there, along with their unfiltered points of view. Absolutely love them. The tale brings home exactly how the "holiday spirit" can find the right people to help fill the loneliness hidden inside, and bring the goodness out in everyone. A warming tale to read in front of the fire on a wintery day. Loved it! I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.

🔹️ Grace Jensen is a divorcee trying to get her life back, by helping her mother with the Bear Hollow Cabins. While walking to the town called Powderwood, Grace ran into two cubs decorating a Christmas tree trying to help there dad, Alec Hill. One thing lead to another and before Grace knew it life changed ☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books.
I really loved this book it is a perfect Christmas romance. Alec is a big strong sexy grizzly shifter who is trying to find a way to save his home. Grace is a beautiful feisty woman who is trying to save her home and business.
When these two meet it is magical. You will love reading about how these two get together and their wonderful and happy Christmas.
This book has everything humor, romance, hot hot hot sensual moments and best of all a fantastic HEA. I highly recommend this book and this author to anyone who loves shifter romances. I know you will love it as much as I did. Be sure to pick up a copy, you will be very very glad that you did.
With some interesting things to say. I enjoyed this story a lot. The kids are just adorable. Grace is so sweet, and Alex is a super Alpha daddy. This story is definitely character oriented with a few action scenes and only one steamy scene. The pace is fast and the tone is hopeful and a little poignant. The characters are vibrant and endearing. I loved the whole Hill Bear shifter community and how they come together to help each other. If you like Alpha shifters and spunky heroines with cute kids added into the mix, then you will enjoy this story. Try it and see!
Alec is a widowed single dad bear shifter. Grace is a divorced woman helping her mom run a group of rental cabins in the small town of Powderwood. The small town is being undermined by the new shiny resort built to block the town's view, absorb the local rustic atmosphere and turn folks against the native bear shifters. Both Alec and Grace want to preserve their town and community, and they work together at Christmas to do so. But past hurts get in their way to personal happiness and although their reconciliation is a bit abrupt they are loving characters that deserve their happy ending.
Amazing story about the bear shifter widower find his mate
Grace and her mother run cabin rentals near a Hill bear shifter Clan. She meets Alec along with his two cubs, Noah and Harper.
Grace and Alec are becoming closer to each other romantically. Then a blizzard strikes and her sister and nephews are stranded in the snow. What would happen to them? Will Alec and Grace find love?
The characters are relatable, charming, and unique. There are some fast paced drama with some twist and turn. This book I thoroughly enjoyed it because it gives a different perspective on Christmas and how they solve the problema of prejudice.
Alec is a bear shifter, a widower, and the father of two young children. Grace was married about a year and is now divorced and lives with her mother and helps fun rental cabins on the mountain. She is his mate, but he thinks his children are not ready even though it has been five years. She helps his Clan set up a Christmas market to sell their handcrafted good and renew their relationship with the townspeople. His Uncle Brent meets her mother Susan, and discovers she is his long-awaited mate. Lots of great people and interesting situations.
A shifter romance that more about changing into a bear, but changing hearts, minds & support!
A Bear Shifter Alex is raising his adorable 2 children after the loss of his wife. His heritage is tied to this mountain over 100 years. Shifters is now known amount the humans & the reception weighing heavy. Grace after divorce is helping her mom get the lodge up & running. To make a profit is now a bigger challenge with a huge chain hotel taking business away. Far worse is the local & shifter communities being put down. Alec & Grace working together is even more important for local & shifter survival! @my2centsbooklover for more reviews and opinions Thanks for following.
A very cute short story. It portrays the holiday spirit perfectly. A major hotel has set up on a small mountain town. They have taken guests away from Grace and her mother's small cabin business. They also don't like shifters. Alec is a bear shifter whose wife died and has been raising two lovely children with the help of their clan. Can Alec and Grace help the town and tourists to see that the shifter clan isn't just "beasts" but they really are lovely people with a shifter side?
Bear shifters have lived openly with humans for a long time in this sleepy mountain town... that is until a new ski resort moves in and bans the bears from their property. The resort also doesn’t do anything to support the rest of the town and starts to damage local business like the Bear Hill Rental Cabins. But neither the local humans nor the bears are going down without a fight. They work together to create their own holiday miracle...and if there’s a few new mate pairs at the end... all the better.
ARC review For honest review. Grace and her mother own the bear hollow cabins in powerwood Idaho but when the silver king ski lodge comes to town the bear shifter and her family start losing money . So when she meets Noah and Harper bear shifter kids then meets elec their father they come up with a plan to save everyone. Awesome story
I thought this story was really fun and cute to read. I loved all the characters and really rooted for Alec and Grace. I really loved the spirit of Christmas that wove through the whole story. Plus do not forget it was a story abut shifters too. The Bear clan was too cute and I just enjoyed the story.
As always, Ariana writes a very enjoyable story with characters that you really like and can relate to. My biggest gripe is that she just seems to end the book very suddenly… Sex ...the end! I realize she has built up a good understanding of a happy ever after but it just feels lacking.
What a great Christmas story. Second chance at love and bringing two different worlds together. Love after a death is super hard and then you add children to it and things get even harder. I love the chemistry that shifter romance brings to this story and this also had all the warm fuzzy feelings that Christmas brings every year.
Grace believes love should be easy. She's about to find out that it may be harder than she thinks. But the journey is part of the process. And what a process it is. Alex is a widower and a bear shifter with two young cubs. Can he overcome his feelings of guilt and let himself love again? Lovely characters and a story to melt your heart. Enjoy!
Grace and her mom are struggling since the new motel came to town
Grace has cabins that are usually full during the Christmas season but a new resort is taking her business. Alec a bear shifter is also feeling the effects as well can they solve this problem together? Love this book
Grace Jenkins a human, and her mother ran a small cabin lodge in Powderwood Idaho. Alex Hill a Bear Shifter and his children a little girl Harper a white color Bear and boy, Noah a Brown color bear, had come into town to set Christmas trees for sale. Grace and Alex are thrown together by the fates. True Fated Mates
Ariana Hawkes’ Hill Bear Christmas: Bear Shifter Holiday Romance was a totally fun book and a great Holiday Season choce for fans of romance and paranormal tales. Well written, with a fun plot, and a neat cast from Grave and Alec on down. Definitely recommended.
It how they both knew instantly but tried to fight it. How she’s didn’t care he was a bear but accepted it with open arms! How she tried to protect those kids as if they were her own! Great book
This was very romantic with a wonderful storyline. The story held my interest so much I did not want to stop reading it. I had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will enjoy it too.
This was such a sweet romance. Grace and Alec are so cute together. They each are having issues with the giant resort that popped up and they help each other out. There are a few typos, but nothing serious.
Super sweet short story definitely get you into the holiday spirit. Plus I'm a total sucker for second chance at love story overall enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed Alec and Graces's story. They really complimented each other and I really like that they brought two different cultures together so they could see that they weren't really that much different and it's OK to live together in harmony. Great story.
This is a sweet PNR that is just right for Christmas. The characters are relatable. The storyline is simple but has depth and emotional energy. I would have liked an epilogue to wrap things up, but otherwise it was really enjoyable.
