He says I'm sweet, but will our relationship sour?
A baker and a billionaire meet at a baby shower. Even though neither of them is interested in kids. It sounds like the beginning of a joke. And I guess it kind of has been one. I don't know what to make of Mike. He's rich, hot and great at eating my own cake off me. And everything else in bed. But he's cocky and reserved; he's clearly been hurt. At first I'm sure it's just a fling. Then he's inviting me to Thanksgiving at his sister's. I love when he takes me on exciting dates. And when he takes me home for a different kind of fun. But I tell myself we're nothing serious. Until I find out I'm pregnant. I don't know how thankful he'll be if I tell him.
Was this just a holiday fling? Or will we be able to cook up a happily ever after... especially now that I have a bun in the oven?
Bun in the Oven is a full length secret baby romance novel. Jamie Knight promises to always bring you a happy ever after filled with plenty of heat. And never any cheating or cliffhangers!
Badly in need of an editor. Also clearly part of a connected series of books because there was a ton of missing story that was treated like you were supposed to know.
This is a great book that will take you on an emotional roller coaster. You'll be laughing one minute and crying the next. They're opposites and come from different worlds but their chemistry is off the charts. He's a billionaire and she's a baker. A fling and some steamy times produce a little one. No spoiler here, but was it just a fling or do they have their happily ever after. The characters are great and the story is an entertaining read.
It Pays To Communicate And Not Make Assumptions: By Korkoi -
If you want to read a fantastic book about two people from different walks of life, that will make you laugh one minute, get your panties wet the next and then want to strangle one of the characters the next moment, then you can’t go wrong with this book. The writing kept me quite intrigued that I was unable to put this book down. This is a must read entertaining story that will definitely capture your attention.
I received a copy of this ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Please understand this review is my personal opinion only. I would always advise people to read a book and make their own opinion. That being said, I am pleased I read this via KU. Unfortunately I found the sentences short, blunt and lacking depth of emotion. Yes, I know this story is short but I still felt that it needed more depth and descriptive writing. I liked the idea behind it, the blurb certainly caught my attention. This was just not for me.
This is the story of Sally, a baker, and Mike, a rich programmer. (The description says billionaire, but that number is never mentioned in the story.) They meet at a baby shower for her best friend, Gia, who is married to Mike's best friend, Reece. Insta-lust ensues. The two start a relationship of sorts that usually includes sex followed by one or the other leaving for his/her home -- no sleepovers. Enter Mike's jealous and devious ex...
Will Sally and Mike admit what they have is more than casual? Will Mike's devious ex break them up before they've had a chance to make it work?
The description states, "Jamie Knight promises to always bring you a happy ever after filled with plenty of heat. And never any cheating or cliffhangers!" -- This is a holiday romance after all. There has to be a happy ending.
I'm torn about this book. I've rated it 2.5 stars, rolled up to three. It's better than okay, but I can't decide if I really like it or not. I liked Mike and Sally, but their relationship is weird, with neither taking the step of actually discussing their feelings with the other. The secret baby isn't really a major part of the story. Sally does get pregnant, but doesn't keep it a secret from Mike. And, while I liked the basic story, it was a bit disjointed and there were things that kept it from being really good.
Though there are a couple of plot things (why is he not suing the ex?; why is Derek only tolerated by the others in the group?...), my negatives pretty much involve the editing, which is sloppy. Among the issues: * There were typos (e.g., missing letters/typos; missed capitalization -- I mean, how can one capitalize Friendsgiving but not Thanksgiving; incorrect words or usage -- Mike even calls Sally "Sam" at one point; etc.). * In Ch01, Mike is "new money" (compared to his friend's inherited money). Mike became wealthy "with the sweat I poured into my keyboard as I coded." Then in Ch17 we find out Mike inherited 100 Million from his parents. So, was he new and old money?? I suppose he could be both, but why then reference comparing his "earned" wealth to Reece's "inherited" wealth? * Mike's "record" was referenced, but we know nothing about it. He talks about hacking when he was younger, almost being caught once, but never hitting the dark side. If he'd never been caught, what record? * Sex scenes are almost duplicates of one another. Not a horrible thing, just something to mention.
This is not the first Jamie Knight book I've read. The negatives are not enough to keep me from reading others. The basic story in this was okay. That being said, I only sort of recommend the book knowing what you're getting is not really a secret baby romance and is something that has issues. It's not something I would read again, but I'm not sorry I read it.
ONE FANTABULOUS EXPERIENCE!!! Smokin'! Jamie mastered the breeze, spun the thread, weaving a cocoon so intricately and tight, drawing you deeper into this tangled web as this piece of perfection falls into place beautifully. Satisfying is an understatement, you get it all with this baby. A tumultuous wild ride with a bevy of inadvertent contingencies that combine this baby together one piece at a time. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue and suspense ensues giving way to triumph blasts this baby into a tailspin with challenging impacts. Diving head first, witnessing the trials and tribulations that tests our characters in ways they never saw coming. The chemistry is intense, sizzling and palpable. The characters are authentic, genuine and realistic with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions make for a majestic backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Fantastic job Jamie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "BUN IN THE OVEN" This was a fabulous read full of intrigue, laugh out loud moments, hot steamy sex scenes, angst, manipulation, past issues, emotional, twist that keep you reading. Mike was sinfully rich hot and at the baby shower for his friend Reece and Gia where he meets Sally the baker, the sparks fly between them she was funny, clever and hot as hell but he's not interested in a relationship and she probably wasn't interested in a one night stand. Jessa seemed sweet at first he never wanted to end up with another one like her ever so he was glad he left the shower without company. Sally got home Holmes and Watson rub up against her leg she was disappointed she didn't see Mike again thought there was something between them. This was an interesting entertaining read opposites attract Mike was rich and Sally was a baker their chemistry was off the charts smoking hot and created a little surprise I definitely recommend you'll like the characters they pull you right into their drama.
Sally is hosting a baby shower for her best friend Gia when Mike comes in to the kitchen. Not really sure why he's there she continues her preparations. Soon it's time to take the cake out for the gender reveal. When all is done she looks for Mike but Gia's husband, and Mike's bestfriend, Reece, tells her he has already left. Sally is disappointed but oh well! Mike is trying his best to get over his disappointment with how his ex-girlfriend Jessa not only stole from him but slept with one of his bestfriends and then still wanted to be with him! Unbelievable! Mike has decided that he wants to get to know Sally better, since she was so easy to talk to at the shower. So he has his sister Ava call and order a cake and hope's that she's the one to deliver it. These two start getting along just fine when Jessa happens. What does she do? How does Mike react with what he receives? What about Sally? When she receives something similar? Only one way to find out read this story by Jamie Knight.
Sally is a young baker who does a lot of designer cakes and she is the baker/guest at her best friend's baby shower. One of the male guest and best friend of her best friend's husband came into the kitchen and talked with her awhile (hiding out from the party) before he left. Realizing he hadn't gotten her number or given her his he planned a way with the help of his sister to hopefully get her over, it worked better then he hoped. Then he said something that messed it up. Things go back and forth with neither really knowing how the other really feels. Then his ex who really betrayed causes problems that it takes their friends getting involved to get things straightened out in time for her to break the news. Will he be happy or think she is up to something?
Mike and Sally met at their best friend's baby shower, where they are instantly attracted to each other. But they are complete opposites. That does not stop them from starting up a fling. But something in one of their past will pop up and try a destroy what they are trying not to start. Will Mike and Sally be able to get past this to start living the life they both really want and already created.
I could not put this book down, once I started reading it. This is my first time reading this author, I liked this book. The flow of the book was on point. The characters were well developed. I can't wait to see what else Jamie has to write about. I recommend this book it others.
This is my second book from this author, and again the grammar and spelling errors are very noticeable. The story is good, and characters from "Little Pumpkin" are in this book as well, which I do like, as then you get updates on them. I liked both main characters in this book, and enjoyed the flow. I found it much better with not near as much repetition going on. If you want a quick read, that can read in the series or by itself, this is a good book.
What a great read it was fun, full of chemistry between Mike and Sally and lots of bedroom activity through fake stories about each other they lose their way but through a mutual friend they find each other again and declare their love for each other good job since they are going to be parents
When Sally first met Mike at her friends baby shower she thought he was cute but then he disappeared. Mike thought Sally was hot but he was wary due to a bad break up. Can these two people get together and what happens when his ex meddles in this relationship makes this book interesting and exciting which is why I highly recommend it.
The story is choppy. Editing distracts from the story. The characters are flat. They don't have much depth or development to muster empathy. Is it a one-night stand, a fling or a relationship? The most in depth parts of the book are the sex scenes. Unfortunately, well described sex doesn't make a good book.
There ia a lot of sex, manipulation, hurt feelings, unresolved past relationships and twists and turns. There is hope for new beginnings if they can finally admit how they feel.
I loved this one. Two completely different characters meet in the most unlikely of places and the rest is alternately hot, romantic, hilarious or aggravating. This story is a fantastic advocate for the importance of communication in a relationship and highly entertaining to read.
Sweet in more ways than one. Jamie Knight has put together a great read with a look at today's media outlets and how they can effect life. Sweetness with some angst too.
The story was nice, but too many grammar and spelling mistakes. Wrong names were used, words missing, The story jumped a lot not giving the reader any details or anything. The story was rushed. The sex scenes were a bit much. I just skipped over them.
I liked the story and the characters. In my humble opinion, I liked everything but the whoopie making scenes were over the top. Each took several pages and left little room for the story. But that is just me, I am sure others liked it just fine.
The story was a good story very erotic. Mike and Sally are good characters. I would have rated the story higher except for all of the grammatical errors, word omissions, and switching character names in a few places.
This book had so much potential. The plot was there, but it got lost in the repetitive heat scenes. There were a lot of minor grammatical errors and a few facts that just didn't line up.
This was a ok read. There were some issues with keeping the names straight and some of the story jumps around and you have to just go with it. It has a good story line and has very hot sec scenes. Just wished it didn’t have errors.
