Trying to juggle a sexy wolf shifter, hot AF incubus, and billionaire twins can be... hard.

You’d think that with the magic thief gone and my magic back, things would get easier. So. Not. True.

Spring semester means it’s time for the trials. And since I passed the practice trials guess who gets to take the real ones. This girl.

That would be bad enough on its own but then throw in the fact that someone used time magic at the Academy. And it wasn’t me. Try telling that to my parole officer who’s breathing down my neck.

The one good thing? I found out that my magic gets stronger with each mating bond I make. And things are heating up in my private classes with Matt.

The series was free in my audiobook subscription. And I often saw books of this author but never read one. So I gave it a try. I rated all four books of the series with three stars. I read more exciting series, but this one was okay, and I could do other stuff, while listening to this series.

The end was good. Although, I did sort of have an idea as to who the bad guy was.
I still really like Luca, hate Ben, and don't mind the twins.

The previous book felt at times a little messy, lacking a clear direction. It turns out that the book truly suffered from the so called middle book syndrome. Because this third book in the trilogy was clearly just as entertaining and amusing as the first book. I flew through it and just wanted to keep on reading and reading until I had finished it.

Not only is the Harem in this book finally completed, in a very organic and mind blowing way, but the plot is also revealing what’s truly going on and what was truly happening all the time and who was trying to kill Raven and why. A lot of loose ends are nicely tied up and all the storylines come together perfectly. I would have loved to see a little more of the politics in the outside world, but hey, you can’t always have everything.

And even though the book was in a way heavy on the sex, it never felt forced or overwhelming or too much. It was part of the story and part of the plot and it was also very clearly part of the character development, especially concerning Raven, Ben and possibly even the twins.

The ending of the book was however especially cool and spectacular. We did get a lot of build up, but it was truly going somewhere, truly leading somewhere and very clearly paying off in the end. I’ve at least had a lot of fun reading this book and I can’t wait to read Calder’s next book!

Absolutely loved this book. Didn't think I would be so drawn into this series but I ended up reading the entire series all 3 books in two days. The story mixed with the sexy steamy scenes peaked my interest. The fact that there was 4 guys in one girl i thought would ruin it for me but surprisingly enough how Alex wrote this was amazing and kept me entangled the entire time. I'm honestly hoping that she comes out with a new series to follow what happens next to the four guys and the main character!! I would absolutely read that series tomorrow if she wrote it! Will continue to read more of her stories hoping they can compare to this series !

I think this might have been my favorite book of the series so far! The twists and turns in this book were epic, there were definitely a few things I wasn’t expecting! I also really grew into liking Matt and Zach in this book because we got to learn so much more about them! I enjoyed how although they are identical twins, it’s shown that they are different in personality. Of course I still like Luka and Ben, and it was intriguing to learn a little bit more about the two of them as well, especially their powers. The character development really took off in this book and I just loved it! I’ve had so much fun seeing Raven’s character grow and I can’t wait to see what the last book has in store! Also, between a sexy wolf shifter, a hot as hell incubus and alluring mage twins, girl, I wouldn’t be able to choose either LOL!

Overall it was a super fun read it gets 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! The spice was even spicer than the last book so this is getting a 4/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!

One arc down…

Glad we finally got past the first arc. Again, this one seemed rushed. There were a few inconsistencies with the storyline.

Raven made progress after finally acting on Halifax’s advice. Halifax’s strange behavior is finally explained. Ben and the other mates come to an understanding…

I was left unsatisfied with the outcome of the arc ending. It just snuffed out an went into an orgy. No explanations for anything. Officer M’s response to it all was not in line with his previous behavior. We did find out what species he was though…

To be honest, the supporting side characters/recurring characters aren’t really filled out. We still don’t know much about Dr. Green, like what he is or what his magic is, and he did something heroic in this book but the details were skipped over so we still don’t know about his magic…and the deed was supposedly one thought to be impossible! Like, why would you leave that out?

***START SPOILER*** This book supposedly brings their last year at the academy. ***END SPOILER***

This is the boys second year and Raven’s first (maybe it’s Ben’s also his history is fuzzy to me) so… what exactly was the purpose of going to the academy? What were they supposed to accomplish there?

Raven hasn’t really learned anything about the use of her magic since she just got it. Ben only has shifter magic right now so what was he supposed to learn or gleam from his attendance? Same with Luka now that I think about it! What was the entire purpose for the academy for anyone other than mages?

Another thing, Raven seems to remember her mother, but doesn’t seem to remember her father, yet she knows THEY died in a car accident and she had to go live with her aunt. Her father seems to be very significant yet she has no thoughts or memories of him at all. In this book she recalls something about her mom and in previous books, she only mentions thoughts of her mom as well. It’s like she’s never seen her father at all. I think it’s mentioned that she was like 13 when they passed???

The recurring dream is still happening so I’m hoping that is another arc that will be addressed in the next book as it seems significant.

Anyway, Happy reading!

If I was going to rate this series I would give it one star, but I won't because o feel like that would be to harsh as the books are not terrible just so meh.....

Ben: I mean come on! Who gives a bad as, massive, wolf shifter, otherworld mafia gangster prince the name Ben?
Sam can be said for Lucas but he's a demon prince of hell. Matt, Zack..... Like did Calder just google most generic boy names?

1st book had promise. I wasn't 100% on board but thought why not try the second one it might get better.
2nd book. It didn't. Just plain meh.
3rd book had to much sex. The twins bonding just didn't mesh well. Lots of things got squeezed.
Honestly I don't like the dynamics of the relationships. Raven has sex with all the guys, never tells any of the guys that she's screwing others they figure it out themselves. But do they say anything? No. Until they randomly drop it in convos.

Any of the guys: I know you two have had sex.
Raven: Gasp! What! How did you know!
(Is he hurt? Is he mad? I need them all!)
The guys: I can smell him on you. I don't care who you screw.

Ben is like MINE DON'T TOUCH, SHE'S MY MATE, GRRRR!
And Lucas like OK man, all good. But Luca is her mate too. The twins just get thrown in there finally and I was expecting the bonds to settle and everyone to find their place in the bond and talk shit out but nope.

Honestly I started skimming the 2nd book and skimmed most of the 3rd just killing myself to get through it and I did but I cannot torture myself with the 4th book, so that's me guys, I'm out. Peace

I enjoyed this latest addition to the Academy of the Elites series. Raven has gotten her magic back and is learning more control over it. She’s still on probation but is walking the straight and narrow. She has parents weekend and the trials coming up. Not sure which one she more nervous about.

Sure, this is a pretty formulaic story, but I still love these academy series. I think one thing that makes this RH story different from most others I’ve read, is that the guys really don’t like sharing her, except for Luka. But he’s an Incubus so he doesn’t really count haha. They just all tolerate it because of her. But they’re all jealous (again, except for Luka) and with 2 exceptions, there is no orgy or ménage scenes with the group. I do wish the author would have been brave enough for one of the men, most likely Ben, to walk away from the group. He struggles with this the most. And as a wolf shifter, I bet his possessiveness is in overdrive. I could absolutely see him deciding that this wasn’t for him, even if it meant giving up his mate. While it may have been harder on the reader, I rather like when authors take the road less traveled. I freely admit that I’m addicted to Paranormal Romance books right now, and it’s not that I don’t love a good HEA, but every now and then, I’d like to see a more edgy storyline.

There’s the ubiquitous betrayal, but for some reason I’m not mad at it. This ending seemed to be a final book, but there is one more and I’m anxious to see what’s happening with our group. Team Luka all the way!

Book 3 was a great read, in fact mostly all the books have proven to be amazingly gripping.

The plot carries on at a quick pace, with enough twists and turns to keep one completely engrossed, the only thing that seemed incomplete was the ending. However, I'm giving a 5 star rating here because the ending though abrupt and incomplete it does leaves a lot of possibilities open for future adventures of this group of 5 amazing people.

I was going to give a 4 star earlier solely due to the ending but since the plot kind of seems incomplete due to the following reasons:

1. Raven's past seems a bit hazy. Her father was a fae, what happened to that side of the family?
2. Will she ever get to the land of Fae and explore that side of her heritage?
3. What happens with Ben's family?
4. Does Luke still get to be the prince of the underworld though his mother does not like Raven?
5. What happens to the rest of their friends?
6. Where do they go when they leave the academy?
7. It's funny that the government is totally quiet after the last episode, what's really going on?

This book does not give any kind of closure, therefore the 5 star rating is assuming that the series does not end here. If this is indeed the ending of the series then this book is worth a max of 3 stars.

Good Series

I really enjoyed this series by a new to me author. Slight spoilers ahead.

What I Liked:
*Raven, the FMC. She was strong but not brash or cold. I thought she was relatable.
*The harem. Though I would have liked a little more on page interactions to feel like I knew them better, they were still distinctive and likeable.
*The varied progression of the relationships. To me it felt more genuine that each relationship developed individually.
*The world. I am greedy so I would have preferred even more information and seeing the various supernaturals more on page but I enjoyed what I read.

What I Didn't Like:
*A little more closure to the story (I think this was the last book?). The series ended with an HFN but I really wanted an epilogue to see where they landed after graduation. I also wanted to know what happened to the other groups in their trials and for the mean girls to get their comeuppance. It just felt a little unfinished.
*There were not many errors in books 1 & 2 but 3 had quite a few. Nothing too egregious but I was pulled from the story several times.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and will happily read more from this author!

I'm just baffled after finishing this entry into the series. I really like the story, and the world Alexis Calder creates, the characters are so clearly defined and have distinctive personalities, but the author just can't write endings well.
She gives enough foreshadowing check marks that you can't say the ending doesn't make sense... except the ending doesn't make sense because it's essentially the same ending every book.

There's also the problem that there is just too much going on in the side plots/world building but all of that going on doesn't lead to a satisfying story. An example of this is the Parole Officer and being in trouble every time she uses her magic for defense. I don't think anyone can make an argument that this actually adds to the story (if its purely to keep her in school, maybe the reasoning of learning magic and keeping from killing others and yourself should be enough 🤷🏼‍♀️ but thats just me) and they just waste endless pages on this plot. I'm truly blown away some of these plots got through beta reading and editing. Even so, I still want to finish the series 😅 so it's not all bad

Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

This is the 3rd and final book. I liked this better than the 2nd but not by a lot. Ben was just growly and I know he's a shifter but he sooo didnt want to share Raven even though he dealt with it. It was grudgingly. He annoyed me a little because it was through the whole thing until the bitter end when he was sorta ok with it. Raven's claimed all her men but Zach well she took the longest for him and I dont even understand why. All I can think of is she doesnt like being told what to do and Professor Halifax was telling her to do it and well she's like no but then changes her mind. Speaking of the Professor I sooo saw that coming. This was an interesting turn of events especially at the end. There were times especially in the middle where it slowed down a bit. There was quite a bit of sex in this but thats to be expected with 4 men. Overall I liked the trilogy but it wasnt perfect and could use a little more smoothing out.

Series has been just ok for me. All the books have been very short. Kinda lacking on depth for my taste. Harem is finally completed in this book, and the sex was fairly hot. I like all the guys and their interactions. I actually enjoy that they don't just magically get along perfectly and that there is some tension amongst the guys. I just feel like there's something missing to the story. (Like some further depth and explanation about Raven's dead parents for example.) Also there's an element of "that makes no sense" to the story that I don't care for. (Like why is the most elite magic school with all the super rich elite kids allowed to be so draconian with punishments and kids potentially dying? Or the whole ridiculous unreasonable parole officer story line? Or why does the big scary "trial" consist of an obstacle course essentially testing for physical prowess instead of...oh I dunno...maybe magic? I mean, I just felt like these plot elements made no sense.)

I can't believe the number of 5 star reviews. Did we read the same series ?
That was the twist the less surprising I have ever read. It's easily guessed from the start of the series.
The story wasn't that bad, but the author lacked ambition for her storyline. It fell flat.
It was more of an erotica story disguised as a paranormal one.
Raven seems relieved to not have to take « training with your familiar » class anymore. We never ever read about what happened in this class. She's half-fae but doesn't feel the need to go to Faerie, why ?
The mean girl Dolores makes no sense here because she's barely in the previous books. And she has no purpose. Same goes for Ms. Obscura or Luka's mother. Why add new characters and give them nothing to do ? It's plain filler.
The end was really rushed and we're left with no closure at all. I will forget about this in no time.

Loved it! Although I do think that the ending was rushed. And girl, there was way too much sex, I actually found myself just like skipping those scenes after like the first two sex scenes. I'm gonna say this one more time, it really felt rushed at the ending. I mean yeah they defeated the magic thief but we aren't really told what happened with Makayla at the trial (did she also pass?) or life after school. Also, the story of Dr Green searching for her family, I thought we were going to have that fleshed out a bit more. I mean why bring it up, if we weren't going to get more in regards to that. An epilogue would have been nice. Maybe I'm just salty that the book is finished and I didn't want it to be done. I wanted more!!!

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this book but it was a bit slow in places. I liked that the connections between Raven and her mates is growing as well as to each other, as they’ve all melded their magic together so they all have a bond to each other and can share magic if the need arises. After the time thief as well as her accomplice were caught, I wonder what danger will head Raven’s way next as now her and her mates have all bonded I think they’ll be pretty unstoppable and be able to handle whatever comes their way. I’m glad that each of the mates are slowly letting go of their jealously and getting used to each other which I think their bond has helped a lot. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Ehh

The book is poorly edited for clarity and continuity. I find it very distracting to read a book that is very disjointed at times.

If you can get past that, and just want some light easy erotica, this book is fine. There are enough steam scenes you don't have to read long to get to them if that is what you're after.

If you want an interesting story, strong complex characters, or answers to the how/what/when/why of it all, then I'd pass. The author constantly brings of questions and doesn't answer them. Which every book has a few loose threads but this is just unsatisfying.

It’s the worst reversed harem story I’ve ever read. I don‘t get the connection between the characters - it’s very superficial. The sex scenes are not hot - it’s mostly quick and seems to be more like something men would enjoy. Very much concentrated solely on genitalia and it seems the MC doesn’t even have a say in. Maybe the story would be better off without explicit scenes at all. I was hoping from the start that is would get better but it’s getting worse. I’m annoyed and probably won’t finish it.
I’d recommend Academy Of Unpredictable Magic by Sadie Moss for a more “feminist” story telling (and responsible, female pleasure oriented sex).

So sad it's all over the secrets are revealed the crap hits the fan and Raven and her lovers well there finally all now a couple but what becomes of them after graduation so sad loved this series hope that this isn't the end for the Academy of the Elites would like to see more about the different characters in this series and those trashy mean girls ugh why oh why didn't they get there's. So that's the only reason for a score of 4 stars.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.

Short, Quick and Rushed

That being said I finished the series. Nothing was overly original here but I was bummed that this story wasn’t expanded more. It could have been great if more story, character development, background and plot were put into it.
I gave the books an average of 3.5 stars as it really was too short and the insta-mating bond stuff got old before it really started. But I did see it to the end and it kept me interested enough to do so- so that’s why it got some stars.

The students have to study for their trials because if they fail they die. Raven has bonded with all of her four mates and her magic is stronger. She is still being tutored by Professor Halifax so she can control her magic and pass the trials. But why does Professor Halifax keep having her practice stopping time. It is against the law and if caught Raven will lose her magic and be put in jail. And the headmaster Dr. Green seems to be her friend but is he? Many questions will be answered in this book.

Academy of the Elites

I'm really having a hard time rating this book. Where I do like the overall idea of the series, I find myself tuning out because I feel like the plot is starting to drag. I found myself wanting to skim parts just to get to the points where the plot progresses. I feel like there are parts that could be fleshed out more to keep my interest as a reader. Do I think it's bad? Nope, not at all because I really wanted to finish it. I like Raven and her men. It's just that they don't particularly stand out.

This is book 3 to the Academy of Elites but I’m sad because this is the conclusion to this series, it’s a brilliant series and I enjoyed each and every one of these stories. We also get all of the questions answered that I’ve been dying to know, all in all I loved the adventures with Raven and her mates it’s a brilliant story/ series and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Good but wanted more

The book was good, plenty of twists and turns, but the ending wasn’t very satisfying. It left me wanting more, wanting to know the why’s and who some of the characters really were. Also, where will they go now? How will they make things work? What about their parents? The end felt rushed t me, like ok, here’s the big finale, let’s throw some words together to wrap things up quickly.

Wow!

Twists, turns and betrayal that you don't quite see coming make book 3 of this paranormal reverse harem series great.
Raven, her men and their friends and classmates are training harder than ever and are working together. 5 very different people working together for the same thing. Hot, chemistry laden sex scenes and watching the love and affection grow in the group made me swoon.
The storyline continues on very smoothly.

This book was an amazing conclusion to the series! We get to see raven make all her connections with her mates, which let me just say is HOT!!! We also learn so much more about how she got the powers that she did. We also get to meet the real villain behind everything! This book has so many surprises! It was such a great conclusion! I highly recommend this book!
