Jack Stratton #8

‘Til death do us part…

All Jack Stratton wants to do is get married to the woman he loves—and make it through the wedding. It seems like he is finally getting his wish until he responds to a police distress call and discovers his old partner unconscious in an abandoned house. Investigators insist it was just an accident, but Jack fears there may be more to it. Sketches of women cover the walls, and among them is one sketch that makes Jack’s blood run cold—a sketch of Alice, pinned up beside an invitation to a very special wedding—his own.

Locking horns with law enforcement, Jack digs deeper. What did his old police partner see in the house? Who’s been creating these sketches? More importantly, what do they want with Jack’s bride-to-be?

When he identifies two of the women in the sketches, only to discover that they are both missing, Jack finds himself thrown into one of the deadliest cases he’s ever worked. Jack comes to a terrifying conclusion—there’s a serial killer on the loose… and Alice is his next target.
As their wedding day looms closer, Jack and Alice must work together to solve the murders and put an end to the killer. Will they catch the psychopath in time, or will their loved ones attend a funeral instead of a wedding?

Jack of Diamonds is a riveting thriller that takes murder mysteries to a whole other level. Filled with intrigue and suspense, this book delivers compelling twists and crafty schemes along with some laugh-out-loud wedding antics. As Jack and Alice fight a deadly killer, their long, happy future together seems like it’s just inches from slipping away.
This time, “till death do us part” might just be a bit too accurate.

My name is Christopher Greyson, and I am a storyteller.

Since I was a little boy, I have dreamt of what mystery was around the next corner, or what quest lay over the hill. If I couldn’t find an adventure, one usually found me, and now I weave those tales into my stories. I am blessed to have written over twenty novels.

My love for tales of mystery and adventure began with my grandfather, a decorated World War I hero. I will never forget being introduced to his friend, a WWI pilot who flew across the skies at the same time as the feared, legendary Red Baron. My love of reading and storytelling eventually led me to write and it’s the best job I’ve ever had.

I love to hear from my readers. Christopher Greyson

I have a dirty little secret. I give out so many Five Stars reviews because I try to read the genres and authors I like. Some authors make it even easier by creating series of my favorite protagonists. Such is the case with Christopher Greyson and his Jack Stratton series.

After a while you get to know and love Jack, Alice and Lady, their gigantic dog who has helped them out of many tight situations. In this series, Jack and Alice are a pair in love. In this episode, they are about to get married. What could go wrong? You’d never ask that question if you know Jack and Alice and Lady.

Now, Christopher Greyson is a special case. First, he’s one of the most terrific and prolific authors I know. In addition to the Jack Stratton series, he has brought out a line of short stories about fictional friends of his protagonists: Flynn and Annie. These short stories serve as my Greyson fixes while I wait for the next big novel. If that were not enough, there are substantial rumors about another spinoff series of full novels. I. CAN’T. WAIT

But back to Jack of Diamonds. Those of you who know Greyson’s easy style appreciate his character development and his unexpected plot twists. He manages to make his characters likeable, and sometimes heroic. They are also consistent; which is something difficult to do and marks the accomplished author. What is unusual about Greyson’s consistency is the plots are not predictable. So, Jack of Diamonds will keep you jumping. It did me.

Five Shining Golden Stars for “Jack of Diamonds.” You’ve got to read it.

Alice

Finally Jack and Alice are actually getting married. Of course that are many different obstacles to their getting together. Can't wait to read the next installment.

Great read.

Another excellent book in the Jack Stratton series. It can be read as a stand-alone but you will miss out on a lot of the character development.

The much anticipated wedding of Jack and Alice is the backdrop for this installment in the series. Their desire for a simple ceremony has been thwarted by the good intentions of their wealthy friend but the strain of all of the preparations orchestrated by an aggressive wedding coordinator is taking its toll on the couple. The stress is soon matched by the work of a serial killer who has Alice in their sights as the next victim. All the familiar characters are present and they help the happy couple actually see their wedding day. But the cliff hanger ending suggests a happily ever after may be in question. So, now to wait for book #9. A fun series for those who enjoy the serialized thriller genre.

Sorry, not to my liking....just way too abstract. He chooses a character that has such a small presence in the story and makes them completely insane. A reader enjoys going back and forth guessing who the killer is. We need hints and twists, but not a complete blindside from a three page background character. And the crime this time was simply beyond unrealistic. The reason this person kills...seriously? So this one didn't work for me at all. I have however, thoroughly enjoyed all of the others besides one other one...don't like the really super dark serial killer stuff. Love the main characters!

This is the best in the Jack Straton Series. This is truly a page-turning novel that expresses love, urgency, anxiety, fear and suspicions of everyone. 'page-turning thrill' applies perfectly well to this work. I can't believe I spent an entire night huddled under my blanket wondering about this book, while experiencing the thrill and fear that is the primary emotions that governed the work! One must read it for oneself to understand the author's genius. As always, When I believed I've learnt to guess the pattern of Mr. Grayson's villains, I was proved totally wrong. I eagerly await the next book in the series.

The Jack Stratton series is super. Edge of your seat action, romance, and a lot of emotion.

Jack is now a bounty hunter, with Lady as his partner. He even has a safety harness for her in the back of his Charger.

His wedding to Alice is looming, but a crazy serial killer is stalking her. Jack pulls out all the stops to keep Alice safe and find the muderer.

Meanwhile, Alice's long lost great uncle and cousin show up unexpectedly.

There are 2 surprises at the end of the book no one was expecting.

Bravo!

Once again Christopher Greyson does not disappoint. Brilliant writing style with numerous plots with twists and turns. It captures me in a way that gave me the feeling I was riding along side of Jack throughout this story. I thoroughly enjoy the way he gives you closure to this Chapter knowing there is one right around the corner. I can’t wait for what comes next for Jack and Alice ??? Does he choose to be a Detective going forward? How will Alice’s distant Ukrainian relatives play out.

I’d live to be an early reviewer of this next novel

Good read. Interesting twists

This was a good addition to the series. Not a lot of main character development and we don’t get to see much interplay between Jack and Alice. Was a quick read though. One thing that bugged me though was that Jack “solved” it finally over a minor detail that he had an hallelujah moment over at the same time something bad happened. It was so minor that I found it difficult to believe especially considering the timing. And he didn’t even suspect anything until that point which made it even more unbelievable.

Best ever series!!

My favorite series hands down! I eagerly awaited this last book for months. I have never read an entire book in one day, until now I absolutely loved it I laughed, I cried, and I stayed at the edge of my seat. The ending has me asking, is another book coming?😍. I would recommend this book to all that love excitement, drama, suspense, and romance. I liked everything I about the series. The author did a great job keeping me guessing.

This is the best book yet in the series of Jack, Replacement and Lady. The story twists and turns as Alice gets stressed as the wedding plans become larger and larger. Lady has come into her own in this book and I just love her. Jack responds to a call to help his friend, Donald and finds himself in the middle of trying to find a serial killer who has a picture of Alice on his wall. I am attached to the characters and enjoyed this series and am eager for the next book.

Another good one on the series

I enjoy this series, but I cannot rate this one 5 stars because of the ending which is so obviously setting up for another book. I agree with the reviewer that the introduction of the peoplen who are supposedly Alice's cousin and uncle could have been eliminated in this story. They were more of a detraction from the real story and could come in another book instead of being a cliffhanger in this one.

Hooked!

The author takes you on this amazing journey of pain, loss, sorrow, love, friendship, healing, and determination. That despite how tough life may seem at the moment, u can overcome so much. You just fall on love with these characters and can't wait to turn the page and see what's next for them. I couldn't put the books down and alot of chores went undone. But it was worth it. Can't wait to start the next chapter of Jack, Alice, and Lady's life!!

Absolutely loved these books! I binge read all of the Jack Stratton series, and anxiously waiting for the next one. The characters jump off of the page and grab you.

Will Jack find a killer determined to turn his wedding into a funeral before it's too late? Another great addition to the Jack Stratton series. Bringing back Marissa, Kiku, and a multimillionaire to help celebrate Jack and Alice's wedding. This book had twists and turns that I never saw coming.

IT WAS NICE TO SEE HOW FINN & ANNIE WERE INCORPORATED INTO THE BOOK. I'VE READ ALL OF THEIR SERIES (except 2) I LOVE THEM TOO. JACK MADE ME SO MAD, HIS LOVE FOR REPLACEMENT HAD HIM THINKING CRAZY. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT SOME OF THE CHARACTERS AND HOPED THE AUTHOR WASN'T GOING TO DO A MISERY ON ME. OH, THE TENSION. WELL, EVERYTHING TURNED OUT OK . . . SORTA OF. SMILE. ;D
AND YES, THIS AUTHOR HAS BRIGHTENED MY DAY MANY TIMES, THANK YOU.

Well, this series isn’t quite living up to my high hopes for it after enjoying the prequel, first, and third books above average. Several times in this one I thought ‘you can’t possibly be this foolish’ about the characters’ choices. Surely the characters could still find themselves in danger without quite so blithely waltzing right into it. *sigh* I think I’ll read something else for a while and *maybe* attempt another at a later date.

As always, a fantastic book

I have read and own this entire series. I absolutely love Jack and Alice. As the series progress, the characters seem to also. The two characters compliment each other, and bond in ways real people do, making them like real people that live next door. Each book is better than the last. You cannot go wrong in reading this book or the complete series.

Definitely a great book.

I have read all of the books by Christopher Greyson, this is one of the best.
His story grabs you in the first paragraph, then you can't stop reading.
The characters are described so well that your mind can see them.
Anyone who loves to read should find any of the books very entertaining.

Juvenile book

I have read all the Jack Stratton books even though they are really for young people. I am compulsive about once I start a series I must finish the series. This story line was more interesting than others kind of predictable. Th character who wound up being the bad guy was a surprise.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, it’s gripping & at times couldn’t put it down & I can highly recommend. Not to sure what to expect in the next instalment now things have changed so much. I really hope they continue to be as good as the previous books. Hope we don’t have to wait to long Jack & Alice are my favourites of them all.

Love this series!!

Jack Stratton is a man’s man who also has his struggles. He is such an honorable “good guy” who has one leading lady in his life. Their adventures are captivating, with twists and turns throughout each book. You never know what you’re going to get with these 2 and it’s not easy to put this series down!! Can’t wait for the next book!

"Great Story"

This is a great series! The characters are great which also includes Lady, a very large dog! Here, Jack and Alice plan to marry, but something goes wrong. Read this captivating story, you'll enjoy it, too! I'm hoping he has some new stories coming, as I've read every one of his stories.

Great Series

Loved reading this whole series of books. I was hooked from the very first book to the last. The characters were believable and very down to earth and you just really enjoyed them from book to book. I really hope Mr Greyson continues with this group of people so we can see what happens next for them.

Best mystery series I’ve read in many years!

The hero and heroine In this series are wonderful! They are realistic true to life and good people with their own flaws and strengths. Getting to know them and their families as the story unwinds is a mesmerizing read. It so nice to see people who stick to their beliefs and love as they grow and develop.

The current last book in this series did not disappoint! It was sweet, creepy and surprising. The "wedding" in the old church was brilliant. I was shocked that it was discovered so early in the book but like the twist. Poor Lady, I'm so glad that she is okay. Great ending, I never would have thought to write that ending.

Rushing deadline

I suppose every author has a book they write quickly for a deadline and if so, this is Greyson's. The motive for the killer was silly and the plot about Alice's family seemed poorly thought through and rushed. Any Jack Stratton book is a good read though so not a waste, just not as good as the 10 others Greyson books I finished before this one.

Hard Pass

Terrible dialogue, I don’t like Alice’s character in any part of this series, but she’s particularly off putting here. Additionally, the killer’s motives switch from having it out for Jack to just being a lunatic - what?

I’m not a huge fan of the series, but I’m committed to finishing. This one is the worst so far.
