New Hope Falls #2

Because of Him

Rate this book

Both of their pasts have held pain and loss, but will they finally be able to move past it all together?

In the blink of an eye, Cara Morgan lost her mom and the life she’d been building for herself as a professional ballet dancer. Within months, she had a new name and a new life in a small town on the other side of the country. Still mourning the loss of her mother and trying to accept the other changes in her life, Cara has struggled to put down deep roots in New Hope Falls. But when faced with the prospect of losing her remaining parent, Cara knows she needs to let people in.

Kieran Sutherland has been through his own time of mourning in recent years. After the tragic loss of both his brother and father, he brought his mom back to her hometown of New Hope Falls. Taking a position with the Sheriff’s Office for the county, he soon finds himself working as a police chief in the small town…a world away from his previous job with the NYPD. A couple of break-ins in New Hope lead him to the door of Cara’s studio in search of help, and he finds himself curious about the woman he’d only seen from afar.

Given her past, Cara isn’t sure dating someone in law enforcement is a great idea. But with her dying father’s encouragement to embrace her new life and find love, she accepts Kieran’s romantic overtures. As her connection with Kieran deepens, so does her connection with the town and its inhabitants. But when the past rears its ugly head and secrets are revealed, Cara isn’t sure she can stay in New Hope Falls.

Will the past rob Kieran and Cara of the love they’ve found with each other? Or will their faith and love be strong enough to guide them through one of the most difficult times of their lives?

Excellent!

Kimberly Rae Jordan is one of the very few authors that I pre-order all her new books without even reading synopsis of the story. She has never disappointed. Characters are complex and developed nicely. Descriptions of locales, etc. are detailed enough to picture but not too much to bog story down. "Because of Him" was another winner!

A wonderful book to read!

Because of Him was another winner of a book! Kimberly Rae Jordan knows how to get her readers inside the book and feel all of the emotions that the characters in her book are feeling. I was not disappointed. I was only disappointed that I was finished reading the book.

One of my favorite authors

I have read a lot of Kimberly's books and will continue to look for anything she writes. Her stories and the faith and love she writes about encourages my own faith and love of my family. And we share a middle name, too!

A well done story of unexpected love and friendships found in a small town of New Hope Falls. Kieran, the town Chief, is loved, admired, and respected by most of the residents of his jurisdiction, and he seems to know everyone; however, it is a bit surprising that he had never really got to know Cara, the ballet and dance instructor. He saw her from time to time as in a glimpse across the church or other town event, but never really 'saw her', until one day he needed her help. The story has lots of suspense, unexpected turns, and a very interesting plot. It provides more information on some of the characters from Book 1, it develops some of the Chief's cases further and leaves the reader with a satisfactory ending along with a lead into Book 3.

The story is clean, interesting, well-written and could be recommended to readers of any age from young teens and up.

The second book in this series and it definitely didn't disappoint me. It gave me everything that I hoped for after reading the first one.

We all met Kieran in the first book and I am so happy he found his match in this book. Eager to see his character development throughout this series hoping he comes in the following books also.

Cara has been a resident of this town for a couple of years and has a dance studio and I don't understand why that one didn't make an entry into the first book.

I kind of like the storyline, where it can be read as a standalone but to get a full experience you have to read it fully as a series. I don't like where books are being released in a series but they allow readers to read them as a standalone. Standalone defeats the purpose of making it a series.

Another awesome story from Kimberly Rae Jordan

I was excited when this book began with Kieran, New Hope's Police Chief. I'd liked him in Book 1 - his sensitivity and professionalism toward Eli and Anna - so was interested to see whom he'd be paired up with. I wasn't disappointed! Cara was a beautiful, broken soul. Her personal grief-filled journey was moving, and her tentative interactions with Kieran just perfect.

I loved the theme of redemption in this story. Cara's family members, her relationships, Cara and Keiran individually... Just beautiful. Excited for book 3!

Who is cara?

I must say I liked book one more, the storyline was good very sad and the connection messy but understandable (sorry don't want to give spoilers so if you have read you will get what I'm not saying) I did think it went on to long.

This book goes back in time at the beginning when Anna just met eli but we will be following the detective (the nice local one) and cara.book one ends on a six months later(beginning of summer) but this one goes back to before christmas.A snow storm we never knew about and a dead body.

Enjoyable Book!

I like the character development in this book. The emotions felt real, very relatable. i love the personalities of the main characters. Their gentleness and humanity spoke to my soul. I love the suspense, it slowly picked up speed. While I was reading about the snow I was thinking this is a good snowy day book (it snowed briefly while I read that section cherries for the sundae)
What would make this book better would probably be more details on the connection building aspect of the couple.
Yes I would recommend this book!

I recommend that if you haven't read the first book in this series, you should read it before this one so you are up to speed on characters and plot threads that continue into this book. I enjoyed the first book, and I enjoyed this one too. The main plot premise was one I don't think I've read before (don't want to go into details due to spoilers), but Jordan handled it well. There are good insights on love vs hate, forgiveness, and the fact that people have complex personalities.

Hope and Possibilities

I really enjoy Kimberley's books, they show the practical nature of being a Christian in love, one's walk with God and the need for a godly and wise support group. This book show that With God's help nothing is impossible in love and the danger of hating anyone. Thanks Kimberley for such a powerful story, keep up the good work. Sometimes we don't necessarily have to go through all life experiences there are some you could learn from stories.

Romance with a touch of suspense

Cara and Kieran have very different backgrounds but there is a strong attachment pulling them together. Both of them are grieving major losses in their lives, and neither one is being completely truthful with the other.

With many twists and turns on the road to love, will this couple find their happily ever after? Read this well written book yo find out.

Two people from different worlds and pasts, meet one another in a small town and find love. Once convinced they were meant for each other, circumstances arise which disrupt their plans, and lead to heartache. The rest of the story of love and forgiveness you’ll have to read to find out.

Small town life

This series is depicting small town life at its best. The way that feuds go back for generations... neighbors take care of each other... the local sheriff is a well known friendly face. I really enjoyed Kieran & Cara’s story and was still kind of surprised by a couple of things. Can’t wait to read the next book!

Don't miss out on this one!

Don't miss out on this one! Cara has a secret she cannot tell for fear of her life. When she and the police chief, Kiernan begin to fall in love she wonders how he will react to her secret. When he finds out on his own things don't look good for them. This book has a great plot and is one not to be missed!

Geniue

This is Kieran and Cares story. Kieran is the chief of the town. Cara owns the dance studio. Cara is hiding out, her place is extremely secure. Kieran has no idea why or who she is but he falls for her. Can he get past all that? Can she overcome her father? Read, this book is great.

Delightful

I like these tender love stories, the characters have difficulties that they resolve through faith. Whether you share that faith of not the stories are uplifting and reach a happy ending. The continuing thread of the mysterious disappearance of Sheila runs through the stories and we meet old friends and new in each of them.

Not sure why this one struck me more than others but I was/am so invested in these characters! I couldn’t sleep until I knew they were safely together! Knowing this author -at about the 90%of the book makes the full connection I could not wait and turned each visual page expectantly. I cried as hard as Cara did- same visual!

Forgiveness that restored a love

This book is very I
Interesting in that we never know whether Car and her boyfriend will never find a way to forgive a past that was a horrible experience for a number of people. Love and hate cannot survive at the same time. A great lesson to learn. Recommend book.

So so exciting!

Wow this book is so full of excitement and some mystery. We all k own and learn it is hard to keep secrets and to always tell the truth, but we should never to that an especially to those that love us or that we love. I still need to hurry and read the next book. I need some unanswered questions answered now!

Wonderful!

Another great story in the newest series. I love the part about how hate and love can not coexist. A beautiful love story with ups and downs, good and bad, in the lives of the main characters.

Wow

What a great story. Engaged me right from the beginning and never lagged once! What a lot of healing the characters had to go through. A tough call for all. Love the insights to help overcome trauma and hatred. A really good read. Stays with you for ages after.

I enjoyed this book. It had something that two people where dealing with that included both of them.
I like the way it ended because it thought us what we should do in real life that would be hard to do.
Hoe you will tie time to read this one and enjoy it also.

Having greatly enjoyed the first in the series I found this one harder to get into but once I had got over the first few chapters I was hooked and read well into the night.
I always love a happy ending and I cannot wait to see were the rest of the series goes.
