Kind of a characters repositioning themselves sort of story, where nothing much happens.

Overall, this book was not too bad.
While I was reading it, I kept feeling that this book was setting up the next few books in the series, and based on the author's blurb, I was correct.
In this book we learn a lot of things in relation to Fran and the Black Cats. I was happy about this, as it helped move the overall story forward and gave us a clearer goal for Fran and Teacher. The introduction of the beast king was also a really good choice.
Now here is where this book series differs from something like Overlord, Vol. 1: The Undead King or That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Vol. 1. With the introduction of this new antagonist, you got a sense of danger. Fran is scared. The author captures the sheer threat and danger of the beast king and those he surrounds himself with. This, of course, becomes a driving force for Fran to improve. A goal to reach to. As a reader, while knowing (because she's the protagonist) she will eventually win, at no point do you think it will be easy.
It's one of the more refreshing things to come across in a light novel, as too often the protagonist is so OP that they can accomplish anything. Fran, at least, while having a ton of things at her disposal, is not fallible, nor is she invincible, despite the skills and abilities she and Teacher has.
All in all, this book was a wonderful set up book for the books to come, and it made me excited that we were getting back to Fran's quest to evolve. There is a wonderful mystery there, and personally, I am interested to see where the story goes.

Fran finally arrives in Ulmutt. While dungeon delving, she finds clues on Black Cat evolution or at least on why no Black Cat in living memory has evolved. More is going on then meets the eyes, and the powers that be will go very far to stop Fran from reaching her goals.
The story is an entertaining slice-of-life read much like the previous volumes with some interesting world building going on as well as the beginning of a bit of an overarching story. No last-minute rescues by others either, which even Fran comments on that she is happy about finally being able to finish fights on her own.
It does come with the drag queen trope, Teacher's panic over little things and as always an oddly positive view on (the effectiveness) of torture to acquire information. Things that can be a bit grating for me. Fran angering powerful people accidentally is also getting a tad repetitive. Finally, I am a tad disappointed in the stat blocks. If you add them, at least try to make fit to some extent. If you tell the character earned a skill, you might want to add it to their stat blocks that you show a few pages afterwards...
Still, while there were a few irritating things in the story, they were minor and it did not effect my enjoyment of the book. A good read and solid addition to the series.

A sword and her cat continues to wreck things.
This episode dwells a bit more on other Beastmen (and women) stuff, as our two heroes finally reach, after much detours, their destination. So, Fran gets offered her qualification as a C-rank adventurer (lol, as if she was that low in practice), a number of people get very interested in Teacher, and the two wreck enemies and impress people.
And eat lots of curry, of course. Never forget curry. If you forget, Jet and Fran will remind you, quite forcefully.

The story gets a bit grittier, and I'd say it made it better! Since we're going to spend more than a volume in this city, its layout gets a bit better and more lively with remarkable adventurers, good and bad. I was afraid Elza was going to be a bad queer parody, but yeah don't even THINK about deadnaming/misgendering her. XD We get to learn more about Black Cats, and see more of them, and the plot about their evolution thickens, and for once not everything gets solved at once by bashing with a sword and a few spells. Now on to the next volume and the tournament!

O Rei das feras, uma nova dungeon e uma Tigre negro. Esse volume foi bacana.
Esse volume chegou batendo e se recusou a sair sem dar um belo chute no peito dos leitores. Cheio de ação e cheio das características aventuras do nosso trio dinâmico.
O volume deixou preparado um momento, e quando acontece ele só alimenta ao mistério de "o que cara*hos é esse poder" sem o bullshit de acontecer do nada porque sim e porque nossos heróis precisam se livrar da situação que se encontram.
Esse volume chegou batendo e se recusou a sair sem dar um belo chute no peito dos leitores. Cheio de ação e cheio das características aventuras do nosso trio dinâmico.

Lots of Subterfuge
Fran and Teacher continue their attempts to get Fran to evolve. Fran meets a Black Cat that evolved, and asks her how she did it, but she is bound by some mysterious power and can't talk about it.
A man by the name of Solus is a traitor, and some random noble named Seldio wants Fran's sword. The story is good, but there is a lot of torture.
We also meet the Beast King. He is a jerk, but a powerful one.
Fran and Teacher continue their attempts to get Fran to evolve. Fran meets a Black Cat that evolved, and asks her how she did it, but she is bound by some mysterious power and can't talk about it.

A pleasant read
A decent story which would have been better if the author hadn't explicitly restated the obvious throughout the book. Still waiting m looking forward to the next in the series.

A 9hr audio book. Not sure how to say this book was boring but not enough to let me stop reading it. I guess saying the story was okay but the characters are uninteresting to me.
