One year, no other possibility but completion. Do or Die. Tess just hadn’t thought to take that quite so literally.
She came home to babysit the kids. Mom was a little sick. Dad out of the picture. School on rerun should be a piece of cake.
Lucky for her to run into a protective punk and his three besties, all on the outs with the rest of the school despite their princely pasts. Making friends had never come so easily. They laughed together, lifted her up, and gave her kisses to curl her toes.
It was all so nice until Tess saw the monstrous scratches up her mom’s back. The hunt for answers had ripped away the bandages covering childhood wounds.
Worse, she’d destroyed the masks of her new friends.
Punks? No. The dethroned princes of the school had plotted to overthrow an army until Tess had revealed their plans.
All she could do was run. Kidnap the kids. Hope mom stayed safely behind bars.
The curtains lowered in book 1 raised and everything unfolded... Mercedes Jane maintained a good pace in running the story while teaming the different mindsets for collective objective... A appreciable good stuff for a readers good palate...
Going go leave this unrated until I can decide what to give it. Felt it was too long and a tad repetitive. Didn't connect with the characters the same as in book 1 and felt like Tess has lost some of her spark
I really enjoyed Impetuous, so I was very much looking forward to this book when it came out. One of the things I like about Mercedes Jade is her ability to fit a lot into her books without making them feel long. Where some books just drag, Jade manages to keep you engaged from start to finish. Her use of multiple viewpoints, and the internal monologue you get from each of the characters builds the story really well, and I found myself itching to keep reading chapter after chapter.
All of the boys in this book are beyond endearing, fallen princes if you will, and their redemption through Tess is something beautiful. I really enjoyed this book, and although I'm sad it's over, it was a really fitting ending for these characters. I can't wait for Mercedes Jade's next series, because she hasn't let me down yet, and I don't know if she ever will.
I don't often read series back to back, but this duet was to good to stop reading. Granted, it took me a while to finish because life interrupted etc, but I really did not want to rush it. I loved the plot, being a pretty straightforward one, but executed in a brilliant way. What I loved most? The boys. I really couldn't help liking them all. They are dark and light, fragile and strong, hot and cold... Flawed, that's for sure, but honed by their pasts. I wished there were more parents like Ruby and Gray. I kind of loved their devotion to each other, even when they are separated. I could've used some more Marla-pie to bask in the glory of her downfall, but that's just me being resentful 🤣😜
I thought i couldnt love Tess, Bastian, War, Kade and Keir enough when i read the 1st book - Impetuous. I loved how they all took care of Tess so that cliffhanger ending of book 1 completely floored me so i was dreading how book 2 was going to go. I didnt need to worry because Duplicity picks up where that left off and takes you on a joyride of emotions. Plenty of highs, very little lows, lots of steamy bits and loads of tied up loose ends. I dont think Ill look at a vending machine the same way now, lol. Blimey was it a damn brilliant ending to this duet of books. Just loved it!
After reading Impetuous I was really excited about getting this one and it did not disappoint in least! Both books were an emotional roller coasters from start to finish and I mean that in the best of ways. I fell in love with all of the characters immediately. Tess isn’t the typical weak “come rescue me” heroine and the guys aren’t your typical Prince Charming. I love they fact that they are all willing to protect and rescue each other from anything threatening them. The ending was perfect and wrapped everything up neatly.
I enjoyed the storyline and idea of the book. The way it was written though was very hard to get through. It’s a weird way of writing and was all over the place. I also felt like it was very long and had a lot of useless parts. I was hoping this one would be better then the first. I couldn’t handle the anal stuff thrown in and I just felt like I was reading in circles then making any actual progress. I ended up not even finishing the book. I only got 16% through it. I enjoyed the idea and the characters but the writing style and anal was just not something I could spend about her 4 hours on.
Tess and the guys are back. This story brings all the storylines together and gives a cohesive and satisfying ending. As usual, there are some wonderful steamy bits interwoven in the exciting storyline. War may be my favorite but it was nice to see more into the minds of Bastion, Keir and Kade.
Duplicity, by a Mercedes Jade, was a great ending to The Victory Lap Duo. Jade has a way of creating characters with depth that you often find lacking in contemporary RH. The story is fast paced without sacrificing the story line. I will say you have to pay attention to detail or you may get a little lost in the story’s twists and turns. I look forward to future books by this author.
I really enjoyed reading Tess and her guys story. There is plenty of hot and steamy goodness, and plenty of emotions to keep you hooked and captivated. Duplicity continues where Impetus finishes and ties up all questions very nicely. I love these guys and would definitely recommend this duet to anyone who loves RH with a good story, a strong MFC and steamy goodness.
This was a very steamy book. A lot of action happens from beginning to end. The questions you were left with in book 1 are answered in book 2. Everything is nicely wrapped up. I would definitely recommend this series.
The final book of the series... WOW! It began exactly where book 1 left off, which I love, and tied up all loose ends nicely :) the steam coming from tess and her men was intense throughout the whole book. I wasnt sure how this would end, but it was perfect.
There are so many things I like about this series! The second book didn't disappoint. The depth of the characters is phenomenal, the story is interesting and the book boyfriends. Oh, the book boyfriends! So steamy! I highly recommend this series!
Wow, I really enjoyed the love story and mystery of this book. I love that we got our HEA but I’m greedy and I want to read the story of their lives as a fivesome. Maybe we’ll get lucky with an encore series.
I really enjoyed this book . We start off where book 1 ( impetuous) ended and from there we get action , romance , steam , some humor and all the great things in between , well written with excellent characters , this is a must read ! Don’t miss out :)
Book one was good and hot. Book 2 was steamy! Awesome book loved it! I did feel the story wrapped up alittle fast but I loved the relationship developing between them all
Getting to know the guys more and experiance Tess without the constant stress of having to play care taker while dealing with the issues at hand was a fabulous finish to this amazing story!
Picked up awesome from the first book! I really love everything she writes! So excited to read more from her! Still love the characters and storyline! Just freaking awesome! Awesome ending!
I love these characters so much and I'm sad it is over. This book takes them on an action packed ride to keep them all safe. Plus lots and lots of steamy scenes
This series was so good. I can’t believe everything that happened in this series. Definitely a roller coaster emotions . I wish here was more to this series
I’m not sure how I feel about this second book in the Victory Lap Duet. It seemed to take a long time to resolve the danger that Tess and her siblings were in and quite a lot of the resolution was under-explained.
The four friends and Tess are now in a committed poly relationship. Things are becoming more dangerous now Tess’ father is back on the scene, and the Twins Dad and Bastion’s Dad and step-mother are causing problems. War takes them all to stay on his Dad’s island for a weekend and his parents seem to be much more supportive.
It takes an awful long time for everything to get sorted out and most of that is taken up by sex. Lot of gratuitous teenage sex. If this bothers you, don’t read this book. I have to say that I’m old enough to feel slightly uncomfortable at teenagers discussing kink and having safewords, mainly because when I was a teenager being kinky meant doing it with the lights on. I don’t have a problem with teenagers being in a poly relationship but to be accomplished sexual practitioners before the age of 25 still seems unlikely to me. Maybe I’m just out of date, and the internet has made all teenagers advanced masters of kink. Anyway, it just spoiled my enjoyment of the book a little bit. It’s a shame because the story had lots of promise.
