A Mastery of Devilish Proportions!!! Devil in Me has just redefined "CAPTIVATING" for me! Within the 1st few chapters I was shocked into a numb stupor, which in my opinion is a good thing! The backstory is worthy of a recommendation by itself but when you add in Brent Lilly & the Devil I'm honestly going to insist this book be on top of everyone's TBR list.

The characters were instantly likeable offering sarcasm, wit, and charm! Brent's got baggage that understandably keeps him in a sour mood, but his "can't hurt" attitude magnifies what's left of his spark after the tragedy, so we're still able to enjoy his... uhm...half of the story? That's not right! 🤔 I mean..he's got his own role to play, but he's 1 man part of a pair that's also kinda, sorta 1 man but not solely😳 yeah...you try to describe that without spoilers, I'm not gonna hurt myself tryin!

Lilly is the underdog! She's less a victim more a survivor of circumstance, yet never one to show it! Achieving her goal takes priority over self pity! Stolen glory fuels her ambition to reach some resemblance of notoriety for her journalism! For 355 days per year her boorish mundane life isn't really anything remarkable, but 1 night a year she's forced into a reoccurring nightmare that until recently left her fearfull but unscarred😱 I know...overly dramatic emoji🤷‍♂️😋

Devil is by far my favorite version of the devil. He's a classical Alpha Male with the responsibilities of ruling hell but his rule has been disrupted by jealousy and loss. For 100s of lifetimes he's fought and lost to fate! His demeanor makes Brent's sourness adorable! His appearance is what I hope for in a character known for being a demonic god! Too many times have authors tried to simply sexify the devil without giving him the respect of a fallen warrior angel. Not in this story though. He's a frickin beast🖤🖤🤗🤗😬😬

The storyline is fascinatingly dark! Out of all the many many qualities I could write in this review only one truly matters to many readers. It's the one that can kill a book halfway through it! And that quality is........wait for it........UNPREDICTABILITY 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
The Hudson's have shown mercy upon us! From one task to another I was captivated by the lack of predictability! I've read enough books that I see patterns in the story and at times it frustrates me, but likeable characters can make predictability irrelevant! Devil in Me had both unpredictable twists and turns as well as a lineup of unique and memorable characters. I truly believe Blake and Stephanie created a wonderful "must read" for anyone who enjoys good story telling!

I wanted to like this book so much more. Probably more like a 3.5. The last half of the book was substantially better than the beginning. I think that the idea behind the book is great. The Devil collecting soul...his mysterious chase of Lily. But the structure of how it played out. The back and forth with flashbacks just felt disjointed to me instead of adding to the unfolding of the story. I can usually sit down and devour a book in on afternoon. This one took me days to get into and finish. I am glad I kept with it because it ended up coming together in the end.

I really liked the concept and the ending was pretty good, but the structure for how it got there didn't work well for me. It went back and forth between timeframes in a way that was abrupt and confusing. In addition, the flashbacks were often too long, with little necessary information to drive the narrative. Parts of the prose felt awkward or repetitive, to say nothing for the spelling/grammatical errors that I typically give a pass to for self-published works unless they are egregious. Overall it was enjoyable enough, but I couldn't justify any higher of a rating due to what I felt were the flaws.

Fantastic read, didn’t see the end coming at all and it was so nice, you’re unsure all the way through until the very end about the devil and it’s heartbreaking seeing Brent realise his ‘sins’ , it’s such a great read.

I really liked the premise of this book. FMC has no idea she's actually the queen of Hell, and that she only sees the Devil once a year during when a murder happens (love story ensues); and a MMC who lost his family and is working with the Devil to get his family back. However, my problem with this book is that the execution of how it was written was just really hard to follow, and it had too many elements of fanfiction-esque writing that I didn't personally find enjoyable to read. A lot of random exclamation points and just a lot of over-explaining as a couple of examples.

I wish the author had focused less on flashbacks that lasted pages upon pages, and instead really fleshed out the story occurring in the present. It wasn't the worst book I've read but it definitely wasn't the best for me.

Ok out of all the names the devil could have his true name was Iblis and I didn't find this out till the end of the book, if fact you don't know anything until it's all laid out at the end of the book which in turn ties up the loose ends. Lilly is actually a girl who has been reincarnated over and over since the beginning of time. The Devils main mission is to get her to cross over to the dark side and be with him and give into the love they created in the beginning. The story was deffinatly a mystery and a good one at that because I had no idea who was keeping the devil on his toes. Honestly I loved the way the story pieced together in the end because you really don't get the full effect until you get to the last page.

Well.....

It was ok. I loved the premise. The idea behind it all but my gosh did it lag at times. The story was told more then being “in it”. So much inner dialogue vs living the story you just read and read. And that made it a bit boring at times. I love the devil love story though. But it wasn’t a dark book.

Thus author has some good stories. Just not my favorite writing. She tends to go into FAR too much detail describing a very simple scene. Like 10+ pages for a short and simple dream sequence. I found myself getting so board that I kept skipping pages until I made it about 50% through and couldn't take it anymore and stopped

Way to my much detail

This book seemed to drag on and on, with details but not details that matters when your reading "smut" The book had potential to be good if it wasn't paragraph after paragraph describing room decor and such.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this book.

The writing was amazing, just as I have cone to expect from Stephanie, although this is a collaboration with her husband, and the world building as usual was on point.

However the story did not grip me like others and has taken me 6 days to push through it.
That being said I devoured the last 30% of the book in only a few hours.

See it only grabbed me toward the end, and what a roller coaster it was, with an ending I didn't see coming!

The spice, for my fellow smuteteers, was, again, not what I have come to expect from Stephanie, and there was only one scene that had medium description.

I'm really torn and would have honestly given it a 4, purely because I adore Stephanie's books, but I do have to also remember this is a collaboration and not The Afterlife Saga.

I would also say this is not a dark paranormal romance, simply just a paranormal romance/love story.

But seriously, Wow!

I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect walking into this one... , but You’ve seriously outdone yourselves on this one! The psychological aspects were really, keep you on the edge of your seat with nervousness and a desire to scream, “Well...what happens next.” It was funny as I was reading, I picked up on a couple King stylistic similarities (hopefully that is a compliment and not an insult, lol. I mean it in the highest regards for your writing), but within a chapter, I come across a reference, which had to make me chuckle.

***Anyone looking for something to read, download this. You definitely WILL NOT be disappointed. Be prepared to not put it down until it’s completed though 💞

Brilliant Amazing Horror Read.

I just knew i was going to devour this book as this is one of my favourite genre to read and i was not disappointed at all in this story. When i found out that these two authors were going to team up and write a book between them i was not prepared for how damn amazing this story was.Being that i love a good horror i can tell you it was phenomenal where i couldn't put this down, it totally had me gripped though out.

I loved the characters of Lilly and the Devil but what keep me on my toes was,you didn't have a clue what was happening and where it was going with the whole collecting of the six souls for Brent and how it was all connected to Lilly.Absolutely loved this and i hope there will be many more like this in the future.Five Devil Stars.

Really enjoyed it

Really loved the characters, even the devil is likeable

Easy flow, good plot and a good read.

My negatives... far too many uses of starting new sentences with the the word, but, however, and then, there is a few more too and it personally started to annoy the crap out of me.

Instead of "however it..." just say "It" a few times instead

It would have been 5 stars if it had not been for that

I know it wont bother everyone, but it's a killer for me, normally would have went to 3 or 2 stars because of this, but I do love mrs Hudson's books

Great!!!

What an awesome first book from the hubby and wife team . Way to go, this was so well written it read like I was watching a movie. I loved all the mystery , thriller, fast paced themes and romance. I love when you think you figured out the plot there's another twist. Truly a great read looking forward to more from the coup!e. (On a side note I hope mrs. Hudson is getting healthy, we can always wait for the next transfusion book. Your health should be priority.) God bless

I found the beginning of the book very confusing and extremely slow. This was almost a DNF but I refused to give up on it. I am very glad I did not. Once I got past so much back story the plot of the book was fabulous. I loved the twists and turns and the mystery was really good. Once everything started to unwind and the holes in the story were filled I couldn’t put the book down. The twists and turns lasted until the last page of the book. It was my first book by these authors and I will definitely be reading more from them both.

Wow!! This did not disappoint.. Brilliant!!

I've read a few of Stephanie,s books and knew that this book would be epic. The story keeps you gripped and wanting more to the point that I didn't want it to end. I loved the characters especially Lilly and of course, the Devil himself.. I would love for Stephanie and Blake to team up again and write another book...Hint! Hint! For me, these Authors are fast becoming my favourites.

Just finished

The story was very creative. I loved the characters and after finishing feel that the characters after struggling for ever finally got there HEA. The name changes, prologue and dual views had me confused for about a 1/4 of the story to try to keep everyone straight. The story also jumps between multiple timelines when switching views. The story comes together in the end and ends perfect.

Definitely a dark romance, but one you won't regret.

I was thrown of by the unexpected beginning but curiosity got the better of me and I quickly got hooked. It's a bit different than what I am used to in a paranormal romance but it was definitely worth reading. Loved the surprise ending. Though not sure why I was surprised. As Stephanie Hudson is fond of saying, 'just trust me' and read this book. It's amazeballs.

Awesome story !!

I loved this story. It doesn't tie into the series of the transfusions books which did throw me off at first but the more I read the more I realized it was a great story. The ending was perfect, maybe to perfect because im not sure how the family could end up.together in the end seeing as heaven and hell separated both daughter and mother but it was a very nice thought that the simply mistake could be undone!!!

This was my first book by this author. Her writing style is different from what I am used to reading and following was a bit difficult. That being said, this was actually a very good book. Lots of “didn’t see that coming” reactions that kept me intrigued through out the story which ended with all the feels.

I so love this series,

This book fills some of the gaps of the overall story of the entire series. You see Lilly in hell with her master in other books written by Stephanie Hudson, and I'm happy to see another version of explanation of the overall stories of the Bible in the Realm of possibility of history and prophecy. Nicely done.
