I’m driving out of Boston with no idea where to go. My world is spinning out of control and I hate it. Hopefully, a road trip will ease the tension that erupted between me and my brother, Keith, after he stole the heart of the woman I was falling for.
A wedge has been driven between the two Hartwell brothers, so Matt takes a cross country road trip to clear his mind, but ends up stranded with a broken-down car in the middle of nowhere. Rescued by Gabrielle Kennell, a beautiful ranch owner in South Dakota, he has no idea that the answers to all his problems are right in front of him.

I can say I truly enjoyed this story of Matt far more than Keith. It could have been the fact that Matt finds himself out in the country and finds the woman of his dreams, when his car breaks down. Or it could be the fact that she’s an independent woman who looks after him and her ranch when she finds him passed out from the heat. Either way, the story was fast paced with a few dramas which certainly kept me on my toes. But what I also really enjoyed is the snippets about their grandparents and how they got together😁
I read that Jamie’s story is next up but I feel as though we are at a disadvantage with him and the other brother, purely as they have only been mentioned and haven’t made any appearances as of yet. So I’m intrigued to see what direction MS Parker will take with her creative ways. I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and I voluntarily leave my honest review.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.

This is an awesome read the storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end. The chemistry between the characters is unmistakable making it interesting and keeping my attention. This was just as good as the first one.

Then manages to drag along, slowly, going nowhere. Till, we find ourselves heading into yet another Scooby Doo Mystery, yet another ‘romance’ writer feels we need. Here’s a hint. We don’t. Real lovers of romance don’t need ‘suspense’ or ‘mystery’ or ‘thrillers’ or any of the dreaded ‘angst’ they seem intent on forcing into virtually every would-be romance these days. Here we have a family ranch, been in the same family since the 1800’s. Dad’s dead, daughter has inherited. Now comes the bad guys, made famous in every Scooby Doo you’ve ever seen. They are going to take over her ranch, by hook, or by crook, as they say. This had finally unfolded at no fast pace, at the 50% point. The ‘romance’ was so weak, I had no interest in finishing. The Scooby Doo Mystery was developing into yet another absurd mystery, by yet another would-be sleuth. I stopped reading at the 50% point, and will leave this one for fans who really don’t like much romance in their romances; and don’t like much mystery in their mysteries. For me, I couldn’t finish it, and would not recommend it.
This is the second book in a 5 part series focusing on 5 brothers. You don’t need to read book 1 Keith first but it will give you a better insight into what drives Matt to flee the city and leave his life behind.
You see when we first Matthias Hartwell, he’s in a messy situation. Hes all set to marry an evil witch of a woman because her families money will mean security for the Hartwell Foundation. It would mean a life of misery and his brother Keith sees that and tries to remedy the situation before Matt ties himself into a less than satisfactory union.
Unfortunately the way his brother goes about it, unintentionally ends up hurting Matt more than he thought possible. Feeling betrayed and heartbroken he turns his back on everything in an attempt to get as far away from the hurt as he can.
However, a unplanned vacation turns into an unscheduled nightmare when half way across the country his car breaks down. He’s lost, in the middle of nowhere and with no cell signal. Then, there’s South Dakota sun which takes its toll.
Luckily for Matt, local ranch owner Gabrielle Kinnell discovers his abandoned car on the outskirts of her land. Finding him slumped against a tree nearly a mile away from his car, she realises the man is in trouble. Being the kind hearted girl she is, Gabrielle manages to get him on her horse and take him back to the ranch.
Taking care of him and nursing him back to health, she finds she has a soft spot for her new house guest. There’s something about him… kindness, gentleness, sincerity… and he’s pretty… more than pretty, he’s gorgeous. Inevitably they hit it off and soon they give into those powerful urges. And, wow.. they are super hot together.
Sadly, there are a few issues. Gabrielle is scared of love - she’s just lost her dad and her mother died when she was little. The family ranch has been handed down to her, and while most of her ranch hands love her and want to support her - there are two that are intent on making her life difficult.
There’s also the issue of difference. He’s a city businessman with an inherited expectation to continue to make their foundation a success. The trouble is, it’s losing money and investments which Matt feel’s directly responsible for. This time away was meant to be a vacation for him to take a break and relax, but he more time he spends at the ranch with the beautiful and inspiring Gabrielle and her team the more he finds himself not wanting to leave.
But of course, there are always bumps in the road and it is going to take some soul searching and facing up to home truths to get these two to admit that they belong to each other. When their lives are threatened, it brings their situation into clear focus. Will Matt choose the life he knew, or the life he wants.
Loved this book… probably even more than Keith’s story. Gabrielle is strong, independent and inherently kind… everything Matt needs. As much as I liked Keith, I think Matt is such a beautiful soul. He’s a gentleman - thanks to his upbringing, but more than that he’s a bit of a flirt, funny and generous. He works hard and through working on the ranch, learns to appreciate the little things in life that previously he’d let go by unnoticed.
The story is great and the other characters including Will, TD and Yuriko are brilliant. What I love about Parker’s books is the way you can easily get yourself lost in them. You feel like you are right there with them - living their lives. It makes it hard to put them down.
I like the sneak peek’s back to their grandparents ordeal which starts and finishes the book. However, I do miss having an epilogue. I’m hoping that we get to hear about both Keith and Veronica and Matt and Gabrielle in the later brothers stories. I want to know what happens to them.
This is the second book in the Hartwell brothers series. The story centres around Matt, the eldest of the four brothers, who after events during book one really get to him, decides he needs a time out to get his head straight. He’s burnt out and been betrayed by his brother-his best friend. With no agenda in mind, he packs a small bag, a bottle of scotch and drives off in his trusty Volvo that he bought years ago. He drives aimlessly at first then his assistant plans a more structured route, with hotels booked along the way. When a car accident blocks the road he was travelling in and his trusty car breaks down in South Dakota, circumstances introduce him to Gabrielle. A strong and capable ranch owner, dealing with the recent loss of her father. She comes to Matt’s rescue and the attraction between them is mutual and their chemistry sizzling and very steamy. Matt stays on her ranch, clearing his head, observing a lifestyle so different to his own and gets to know all of the individuals on the ranch. The story is so well written, told from a dual POV, which slightly overlap, a style I really liked. The plot is interesting throughout and the relationships that form and are already developed are engaging. Absolutely love M. S. Parker’s style and new series. Superb! Highly recommend.
After reading the synopsis of the book, I borrowed book one, Keith from KU and I’m really glad I did. It helped understand Matt’s backstory, the stress he’s been under and why he feels betrayed. It also introduced a lot of his fabulous relatives :-)

Matt is the second book in The Hartwell Brothers series and follows the first book Keith. Matt has decide to take a break from reality as by the end of Keith it had just gotten to be too overwhelming. He leaves Boston and starts driving anywhere and ends up at a ranch owned by Gabrielle. His car had broken down is the middle of nothing in South Dakota when Gabrielle found him passed out from the heat and dehydration. She has just buried her father and is now the owner of the family ranch and running it. Matt works a deal with her to work on the ranch in exchange for him staying there. Can anyone say "city boy gets a lesson in real work".
Matt is a nice second book in the series and follow-up to Keith. He is really on a journey in search of where he belongs and what he wants to do. He just knows that at the moment he steps out of his existing life he needs to find something else. Gabrielle is grieving the death of her father and what that means to her life. There are things happening on the ranch with her ranch hands that she is having to deal with also. It turns out to be one of her ranch hands that is causing problems. Both of them are trying to find their footing and end up with sharing that together.
This is an interesting story and good continuation from the first book in the series. The characters are interesting and have depth and emotion, which they bring into sometimes interesting exchanges between them. I enjoyed reading this book.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Sometimes you just have to throw the schedule out the window.
This is the second book in the Hartwell Brothers series. We met Matt in the last book and were left hoping he'd find his HEA also. If you haven't read Book 1 you won't know the backstory regarding Matt and may be confused about his interaction with Keith near the start of the story.
After fighting with Keith Matt needs to get away. He's not sure where, he just has to go. After the first night he decides to set up a "scheduled vacation". Things don't go to plan when his car breaks down and he ends up on Gabrielle's ranch. This forces him to actually unplug and go off schedule for the first time in forever. He gets his hands dirty, working on the ranch and learns that he doesn't have to be so closed off. As his defenses come down he starts to really feel something for Gabrielle.
Gabrielle is determined that things between her and Matt are just for fun. He'll go back to his big city life and she'll stay on her ranch. Everything starts to unravel when she realizes he actually matters to her. She's trying to navigate their relationship while also dealing with her new role in running the ranch after her fathers passing.
The relationship between Gabrielle is fast paced and organic. They may be from different words but they compliment and complete each other. The story has some nice action and what some might find as a twist. I can't wait for Book 3!

I had read Keith's book and I liked the author's writing style. A well-written story with beautifully described love scenes. Where the story of Keith was more of a second chance story, the story of Matt clearly became more of a story with a dark touch and lots of sex.
Matt needs distance after Keith has started a relationship with Veronica. He decides to drive and see where he ends up, until his car breaks down and he is found by Gabrielle. She takes him to her guesthouse and he decides to stay, certainly if he notices that he cannot keep his eyes off her. Gabrielle has never had a relationship other than her friends with benefits relationship with one of the guys who works with her. She falls for the cityboy but does not know how they can have a future. Gabrielle is a strong woman, but you also have to be that if you have to run a business on your own. Even when one of the men starts working against her, she stands her ground. A good construction with a great end. You already foresaw that Carl would do something and he does. Great that the POV of Matt and Gabrielle shows the story from all sides

When the right one comes along, it won't matter if you have time or not! Veronica dumps Matt, explaining she thinks of another man. Then she runs to his brother Keith, who sleeps with her, then kicks her out. Matt explains Veronica's history and motivations, making Keith feel horrible. Then he goes drive a bout to collect his thoughts. Matt is driving his Volvo, the first car in which he experienced many emotional, physical firsts. Gabrielle recently buried her father. She hasn't been able to get a good sleep in the past four months, so she's exhausted, irritable and struggling to keep it together and find her footing. Carl is an experienced ranch hand, deliberately stirring up trouble with the other workers. Does Gabrielle need to act before it's too late? Matt's car breaks down near Gabrielle's ranch. Matt walks away in anger, not thinking. When he did, he realized he had been walking for hours. Gabriele finds and rescues him. Great story. Adventure, action and lots of love and friendship. Good character development. The good guys are great and the bad guys . . . I received and ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book two in The Hartwell Brothers series. Meet Matt, he has decided to get away on a road to clear his head. There is a need to save the family charity and a plan where he was to marry for money. But he actually started to like her. That is until his brother, Keith pulls the rug out and falls in love with her. Now the road trip to clear out the cobwebs, get a little distance between him and his brother to let the dust settle and figure out what is next for himself. The road trip comes to an abrupt stop in South Dakota when his car breaks down and calls her quits. Gabrielle has just lost her father and finds herself now the ranch owner. She also finds Matt in his broken car with heat stroke and comes to his aid. Things heat up even more at the ranch as these two characters figure out what it is they want out of life and from each other. I am interested to see what happens next. Even though this book ends, there are still strings left to be tied in this series. Enjoy!

I didn't know Matt had all THAT hidden in him. WOW!! He will have you melting in his hands with his take charge alpha attitude, filthy mouth, charming personality. And all of that while being a gentleman. Then he finds his match in Gabrielle. A very unique, responsible, humble, hard worker that has no shame in taking what she desires. I loved that she is such a strong character because even when they seem to be from worlds apart, you can still see the similarities that helps them click. And through all the pages, you wonder who will dominate. Just FYI, Matt is the real BOSS that I never imagined he could be. But what a wonderful surprise!
This book fallows the rule of less talking, more doing. And damn, they fan yourself do! If you like detailed/hot/sexy scenes, this story is for you. They have a lot of logistics to figure out for the relationship to work. But still, as a reader you get the feeling that they'll manage. Because chance brought them together but nothing will take them apart for sure now.
New chance, new encounters 4.5 It's a good continuation in the series. It's a romantic story, a little less dramatic than the first book because the character of Matt is completely different from the character of Keith, his brother. The story is very well written, with excellent characters. After being betrayed by his brother, Matt flees Boston to clear his head, but his car breaks down in Dakota. He is rescued by Gabrielle who owns a ranch, but whose father who managed everything died a few months ago. These two characters opposed by their way of life are nevertheless attracted to each other. Matt discovers both the life of the ranch and Gabrielle, as well as her employees, some of whom do not accept having Gabrielle as their boss, nor that a city dweller stays there. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Matt is fried managing his family’s foundation that suffered an economic downturn. He has a mess going on with his brother. So, solution, leave town and escape for awhile. He lands near a ranch and is rescued from heatstroke by the owner. Gabrielle recently buried her father and is now running her ranch alone. Matt offers to do ranch/farm work to cover his stay. He is benefiting by being out from under and is outside doing manual labor which he gets lots of ribbing for the city boy. You know, how often in our lives do we want to run away from the world and responsibilities aka vacation. He was lucky he had people to back him up. I enjoyed this follow up to his brother Keith. She ties it in just enough to understand his family issues. Nicely written and well developed characters. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
This is book 2 of the Hartwell Brothers. This is Matt’s story. After Matt finds put that the other person Veronica has deep feelings for is his brother, Keith, he packs a few things, grabs a bottle of scotch — Macallan 35, and hopped in his older Volva and hit the road. He was angry at his brother, hurt because of Veronica and needed to get away and clear his head. He finds himself in western South Dakota on a hot July day with a broken down car, no cell phone service, no water and miles of nothing. When Gabrielle finds Matt, he’s barely conscious. Suffering from dehydration and sunstroke she takes him to her ranch in hopes of saving his life. A well written storyline and captivating characters. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the rest of the Hartwell brothers stories.

This is the story of Matt & Gabrielle. Matt is very uptight and his life is very controlled. Gabrielle lives on a ranch and has just lost her father. Matt decides to get away for awhile due to situations that occurred. His life is upturned and not organized at all anymore. His car breaks down and he almost gets heat stroke. Gabrielle saves him and takes him to hr ranch. There are things that happen between them, and other things happen with two of the ranch hands. There is a happy ending. I guess what happens with Alice will be revealed in the next book. It was a little at odds with Matt's story, but I guess we'll find out. This is a very well written story. I recommend it highly.
This continues from the first book. You don't have to read it but to get a better understanding of the characters and back story it will help. This is the story of Matt and Gabrielle. Matt needs to get away from everything and everyone in Boston. He goes on a trip and this is where he meets Gabrielle. She is so different from the other woman he has met. She runs the family ranch and know nothing about his family or foundation. You will enjoy their story of their ups and downs. The story was well written, enjoyable characters with amazing chemistry. Look forward to reading about the next brother in this series. A must read.

I really enjoyed this book as much as the first one. Matt is head of the family foundation and is a hard worker. He gets involved with someone who he thinks will solve the issues with the foundation. But they decide to part ways, he meets someone and thinks he is in love. But that does not work out well. He leaves town to clear his head and get some distance. His car down and he meets Gabrielle on a dirt road in Minnesota. They have instant chemistry and it takes a life of its own. They have a lot of ups and downs with outside problems popping up. They work it out and everything get better for them. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Matt and Gabrielle. He's running away from his stress and troubles. While driving from Boston his car breaks down on South Dakota. Trying to walk to get help, he gets overheated and passes out. Gabrielle is running hey family's ranch now that her father passed away. Unfortunately she's dealing with a few hands that like to give her problems. While checking on a broke fence, she stumbles across Matt's car. Finding him under the tree in time from something bad happening. The two grow closer as he helps on the ranch. But when when danger strikes their feelings become clear.

Well, our boy Matt has blossomed from the staid, introverted workaholic to a man who can do physical work with the best of them and knows what he wants.
Gabrielle is a resourceful and astute rancher learning to manage the family ranch upon her father’s passing. She’s enjoyed a friends with benefits thing with one of the ranch hands but that is quickly forgotten when she sees what Matt has to offer, if you know what I mean.
The girl that is used to being tough and self reliant suddenly has someone strong she can lean on without losing her own autonomy. I like reading about strong women characters that can occasionally let their man take care of them.
Matt has no idea what to do with his life, the way things ended with Keith and Veronica he’s unsure of where to go now. Maybe it’s time to figure out what’s important. Getting away from his life is what he needed, what he didn’t need was getting stranded in the middle of nowhere, but as fate has it, he was sent an angel to help him out. Gabrielle enters Matt’s life at the right time, the chemistry is amazing, their story is full of smoldering heat, throw in a little angst and you’ve got a book you will keep turning the pages until the end. Great read, looking forward to the next book in the series. I found this read on BookSprout.
Matt having been duped by not only his brother Keith and his now GF Veronica Matt sets out on some R&R for himself yet he doesnt expect to get stranded with a broken down car in the middle of nowhere and heat stroke to match. Gabrielle having lost her father now has to run the family ranch and there are a few hands who dont like that. Matt being stranded helps Gab out as he waits for his car to be fixed. This is a smoking hot book and loved the drama and suspence am also loving the story of his grandparents and finding out what happens next.

A fantastic story! I loved Matt and his charming, sweet side that is oh so protective. Gabrielle Is such a strong, feisty, caring and intelligent lady that adds so much to the story. They have a chemistry that is felt throughout the story. This story has drama, suspense, and a bit of mystery. It is extremely well written and the support characters add a fantastic element to the story. It has you laughing and getting angry with the characters. It pulls you in and keeps you there until you reach the end. It is a must read!

Matt is the second book in MS. Parker’s The Hartwell Brothers series which features Matt, who is on a road trip to clear his head after losing his girlfriend to his older brother Keith, and Gabrielle, who recently inherited her father’s ranch after his death and rescues Matt when his car breaks down. This book has strong complex characters and a great plot with soul searching, drama, action and adventure, fiery passion, and hot sizzling love. I highly recommend this five star read!

Matt and Gabrielle have 2 entirely different lives. He is a Bostonian, running his family’s business and until recently he thought his life was pretty well suited to him. Gabrielle runs her family’s ranch in South Dakota. Up at dawn, working the herds and flocks. Neither of them every considering a different way of life. Now things have changed and they will have to refigure what they thought they knew.
‘Matt’ is the second book in The Hartwell Brothers series. Definitely worth your time!
Sometimes things happen for a reason Wow, this book had me cheering for Matt and Gabrielle to get together despite the odds of distance and lifestyles! If Matt hadn’t been pissed off at his brother Keith and taken off on a road trip, he never would have met Gabrielle. But can the two find their happily ever after with the plot twists? You have to read to find out and will enjoy turning the pages to find out!
Matt is the second book in The Hartwell Brothers series. It can be read as standalone, but there's a lot of backstory from Keith's book. I would recommend reading the books in order. As soon as Matt and Gabrielle meet, you can feel their chemistry. If possible, I thought Matt's story was hotter than Keith's story. This story is off the charts HOT. The writing is fantastic and the storyline will suck you in. Told in both Matt and Gabrielle's POV.
We met Matt in the first book, Keith. I recommend you read Keith first. Keith and Matt fight and Matt needs to get away. He's not sure where, he just has to go. Matt decides to take a vacation but his car breaks down and he ends up on Gabrielle's ranch. This turns out to be a blessing. He is forced to unplug and ends working on the ranch. In time, his attraction towards Gabrielle becomes a relationship.
