Teddy is living college life with his newfound faith and girlfriend Janet. He used to be an active clubber and always looked forward to the annual Jam Fest, but his priorities have changed. However, as the Jam Fest weekend is approaching, his four best friends have no idea that Teddy is a Christian. Ajani is a drug dealer trying to leave the lifestyle. Eros is a proud player looking to expand his sexual horizons. Q is looking for a new identity and a solution to save his marriage. And K.J is on a quest to become hip-hop's next star. Although, they are the Phat Five and are about to have a crazy weekend that will change their lives forever.
This was a good start to a 2 part series. Not only were there insane moments in this book, but I appreciated the deep conversations which were placed in this story as well. As Christians, it can be hard to share the gospel with others, but this book has encouraged me to share the good news with loved ones. Looking forward to part 2!
At first I couldn't get into this book. I am not really an Urban fan. I forced myself to continue reading and I actually enjoyed the story. The book had some great lessons in it with dealing with the Phat 5. Eros is a trip. I felt at times it was wordy. I really don't care for cliff hangers but overall I am looking forward to reading part 2.
Disappointed. Disappointed because the book is the Phat 5 and I was hoping for four more books. There’s only two books so far and I need more. Eros was an annoying mess!
This was a great story of when you get saved and you hang around people who are into the same things that you have spiritually grown out of. Teddy is trying to avoid those old temptations because a walk with God is not easy and growth takes time while also hanging with his wild best friends
My trip to Canada was so full of drama, action, love, regret, excitement & pain. I definitely laughed, rolled my eyes, lost breath, was overthinking, & some more. The author D.A. Bourne will have you cheering for KJ, upset with Eros, driving with Ajani, overwhelmed with Q & on a spiritual journey with Teddy... All without cursing! If you enjoy reading, you need to pick this one up. I can't wait to start book 2 tonight. 📚🤓
My review today is on the Christian Novel, That Crazy Weekend. This is Part one of the story. This book was sent to me to read and my review is in my own words. I had never read any of D.A. work before. This book is really not my cup of tea but it is well written. It was a little hard for me to get through the first part of the book. The story is about the Phat Five. Five best buddies and their once a year weekend that is at Windsor College called Jam Fest. Teddy and his girlfriend has moved to Windsor College to be on the Jam Fest Committee. He promised his buds to get them free passes but shortly after his arrival at the school his girl friend got saved and he soon followed her down the aisle. He is thrilled with his new life except he doesn't know how to tell his buddies. Ajani works for Fed Ex but deals drugs on the side. He has a girl friend and a son. His coworker in the drug operation is jealous of his relationship with the big boss and sets him up to look like he has betrayed his boss. Now the boss is out to destroy him. During his trip to Jam Fest he is to make a delivery that will destroy him. Eros is a player. He is currently living with a woman but that is not going to stop him much when he is a Jam Fest. He sets up a meet with an woman he met before but didn't sleep with. The one that got away. His father produces porn and Eros is insatiable. It's all he thinks of or talks about. Q is the only one of the five to marry. He's only been married nine months. When he married her he had hoped to be professional ball player but due to an injury he couldn't play any more. Now he must make it up to his wife so he works as many hours as he can basically neglecting his wife. K.J. is a hair dresser. He was once a part of a rapper duo. He wrote the verse but his partner went on to be famous and K.J. was left behind although he did write verse for him for awhile. His ex partner stole his girl friend and now K.J.'s one desire is to win the Jam Fest. His ex partner comes to his shop to tell him he will be competing with him this year. Thus sets you up for that crazy week end. God has a plan for these men. A good plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A plan for a hope and a future. God loves you and only wants good for you. Give Him your heart and watch change your life.
This was a highly relatable, suspenseful, and entertaining read. I enjoyed the story of these five friends and I am definitely looking to read more from this author. Great work!
