The Way Back: A Novella
Going home for the holidays doesn’t exactly hold the same meaning when a piece of your heart isn’t there anymore.
I’m going through the motions with my family, putting up the lights, trimming the tree. But nothing feels the same.
Until Liam Crane walks back into my life—and back into my house—after all these years.
He’s got the same boyish smile, only, he’s all man now. And much to my dismay, his big blue eyes can still see right through me, just as easily as when we were kids.
When he laughs, my heart heals a little. When he tells me what he felt back then, I actually want to smile.
But he has his own pain to deal with, and it’s the same pain that took him away from me all those years ago.
We didn’t work out back then. Things were complicated. But if we can learn to lean on one another, maybe we can find the way back.

Liam and Fiona have been best friends. But then Liam leaves suddenly. Fiona then leaves her home and has a tough life.
The story of the couple was beautiful, their painful backstory and the way the characters were etched made me want to root for them. Enjoyed it.

The Way Back is Christmas novella that I won't forget anytime soon. My review won't be too long, because being a shorter story, I don't want to give away too much! That being said, for an 84 page novella, it gave me all the feels!
Let's start off by saying, I love this cover and love that authors are using covers like this more often. The Way Back follows a member of the Wellsworth family, Fiona. Even with this short story I can tell that I want to be a member of this family.
It's clear that the Wellswoth family suffered a tragedy and is finding their way back. This seems to be hitting Fiona especially hard and it's definitely explained why. I really enjoyed Fiona. She's a family person and it's interesting see her finally let her family in.
Liam, who's always been like family and a guy she's always been in love with comes back. Tis the season for second chances and Taylor Danae Colbert leaves a smile on your face with this story. I have to say that she did bring me to tears and I connected with everyone in this novella. She made me want more of this Wellsworth clan! The Way Back is definitely a novella you need this holiday season!

The Way Back is an 84-page Christmas novella that introduces the wonderful Wellsworth family. Fiona is going home for Christmas – the first one with the family together since they lost Graham. To her surprise, another lost soul has found his way back home as well – and maybe a second chance is in both their futures.
The holiday season is made extra bright and joyous this year by spending time with the Wellsworth family.

Its short, sweet and makes you believe in family, christmas and love. Liam and Fiona have been friends forever, maybe something more, but hadn't explored it. I love reading books where the family plays such a big role in the main characters life, it feels like so much more.

This was a very short novella. And it gave me a great holiday feeling.
Fiona and her family have had a great loss and coming back to the house where every corner reminds you of them is hard. The one thing that could change this whole Christmas is, Liam. The one that got away. Only time will tell.
If you are looking for a sure fast read to get you into the Christmas spirit. This is a great book for you. I loved the big family of this story. Also, Bella is the cutest little kid!

This novella was the perfect holiday read! It was a short, sweet feel good story. I’m hoping the paperback comes in the mail smelling like peppermint and Christmas trees because I got alll the Christmas vibes from this one. This is the second book in 3 months that has left me wondering why the Hallmark Channel hasn’t called Taylor yet.
There’s just something about love during Christmas that feels magical and Taylor captures that so beautifully in this story. I’m in love with this couple and I’m wondering if I can bribe Taylor into writing another book for them.

Fiona vuelve a casa para navidad después de un año; el peor año en el cual su vida cambió drásticamente. Los Wellswoth se estan recuperando, la familia numerosa se prwpara para esta navidad diferente; no solamente por el regreso de Fi si no tambien el de Liam, el mejor amigo de uno de los hermanos y el "casi novio" de Fiona.
Es una historia corta pero tan llena de sentimientos que llega al alma!!! En pocas páginas se logra plasmar el pasado, la época actual y la Navidad futura defrma extraordinaria y compacta.
En es época Fiona y Liam tienen que sortear obstaculos y ponerse al día si quieren tener un futuro.
Me encató éste libro, el único motivo por el cual no tiene cinco estrellas es porque me quedé con ganas de más! Hermosa historia para leer con personajes y situaciones de vida muy reales.

Je n'aurais jamais cru tant pleuré sur un livre aussi petit... C'était la première fois que je tentais cette auteur, mais je vais assurément revenir vers elle.
Bien qu'on ait pas réellement le temps de bien connaître les personnages du roman, on s'attache immédiatement à eux. Ayant perdu ma mère il y a quelques années déjà, je comprenais entièrement la douleur de l'héroïne... Je ne veux pas spoiler mais disons qu'elle vit un deuil important et que je m'y suis retrouvé. Que j'ai pleurer avec elle... Quant à Liam, j'avoue ne comprendre qu'à moitié sa disparition, mais il était mignon.
Bref une charmante (touchante surtout) petite histoire de Noël. ♥️

This was such a heartfelt and touching Christmas novella. I loved the family dynamic and Christmas holiday traditions with a touch of how emotional it is when you loose someone close to you and someone who doesn’t even know themselves. I loved the flashbacks into why Fiona and Liam didn’t work in the past and also why one is alone for Christmas. It was easy to follow and I loved how it made me feel for the characters. Now onto the next book.

How is this the first book I’ve read from Taylor? I am kicking myself. The Way Back was the perfect holiday read. I just wanted to curl up on the couch with hot cocoa and my Kindle. The novella is short and sweet. Full of heart and HEAT! Yes, girl, yes. I found myself smiling throughout most of the book. It just made me happy and warm, even as I shed a few tears. I adored the Wellsworth family so dang much. Are we getting another book? I am here for more of these characters and ALL OF TAYLOR’S BOOKS! I’m devoting January to Taylor Danae Colbert. I’m in love. Definite must read!

This review won't be long because the book was too short and I'd give away spoilers, but I will say that it grabbed my attention from the very beginning and held on! The Wellsworth Family is big, loud, and in each other's business, but they all love each other and want what's best for each other. Fiona was sweet, loving, and broken. Liam was too. Together they found a way to heal each other. If you love short Christmas reads filled with fun, family, and tradition then you don't want to miss this one by Ms. Colbert.

That was my first book from this author. This novella inspired so many emotions. From crying, to laughing, to swooning because of the lovely romance. It is amazing and I enjoyed it so much that I'm literally just going to read another book from Taylor.

DNF due to boredom at 72%. As it is single POV and mainly about a woman dealing with her shit it leans towards the chick lit side of the romance to chick lit spectrum, although the writing style isn't literary.

A beautifully touching story. This book had me using a whole lotta tissues. Family is at the heart of this well-written story of love and loss and finding yourself again. A wonderful read any time of the year!
