She’s a hacker, a legendary gamer, a badass vigilante… if she can get herself out of bed.
Nothing much appeals to Sloan Lazarus, except the burning hatred for the man who stole her heart and then ghosted her—right after she confessed her crime-fighting secret. When he turns up two years later, completely complacent and hot-as-sin, Sloan is determined to make his life a living hell. Then she discovers he is her lifemate... and her unstable powers kick in.
After being dishonorably discharged from the army, Maximillian Johnson has come to the sin-soaked Cardinal City to make a difference. A dark secret drives his motivation, and coloring outside the lines of law enforcement with the Deadly Seven is just what he needs. It doesn’t hurt that he gets to work with the beautiful woman who still holds a long denied place in his heart.
Problem is, the fanatical Syndicate are closing in, and just when the Deadly Seven think they’re making headway, they take two steps back. Sloan must learn to make peace with the brooding security specialist, or suffer the consequences of being imbalanced. If she can’t learn to trust again, and control her devastating new powers, life will be worse than a living hell… it will be deadly.
Paranormal Romance meets The Avengers in this epic series where the heroes must find a lifemate, or become the deadly sin they're destined to destroy. Full of steamy romance, humor, thrilling action, family dynamics, band of warriors, alpha heroes and strong heroines. If you like your superhero shows, but want more romance from your Lois and Clarke, then you’ll fall head over heels the Deadly Seven. Binge this series in Kindle Unlimited.
Lana lives in Perth, Western Australia and loves writing Paranormal/ Fantasy and Sci-fi Romance. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her creating art and designing book covers. She also fights evil by moonlight, wins love by daylight and never runs from a real fight.
The book is fine. It's a second chance romance trope and that's one of my least favorite. Miscommunication or refusing to communicate through a misunderstanding is the worst! (to me)
My my… another good one. First of all Sloan is great and definitely one of my two favorite characters in the series (Griffin is the other); I’m really proud of her for standing up for herself, she had been in a dark period of her life, but no one had the right to make her feel less or inadequate, judged at every turn, she is amazing, clever, brave and funny and here she proved to everyone else but most of all herself that she is not less than the rest of her family. Max is a sweetheart and such honestly a good guy, loyal and funny, he always had Sloan back and respected her capabilities.
Together Sloan and Max are just so cute; they are adorable, so sweet together, not to mention have crazy chemistry and lot of love, and I really adore second chance romance so this was my jam. They have a real and strong connection that comes from knowing each other and growing to love each other over time; even before the connection they are programmed in their dna to have came to life a meaningful and important bond was already there, they needed to rebuilt some trust, work to clear the gap due to years of miscommunication, but it was clear they never stopped loving each other.
The action and over whole story were very interesting and there are definitely some advancements with Daisy to explore.
Sloth was a juicy story I was immersed in from the start! Sloan and Max were emotionally vulnerable main leads with very in-depth personalities. (I’d go out on a limb and say these two were the best developed characters of the bunch so far and I’ve enjoyed all the previous books!) I really enjoyed how much of a slow burning romance Max and Sloan had as well. It allowed for plenty of time and opportunity for the two to come to terms with their previous fall out in a reasonably healthy way. More interactions between the family members are always a plus too! Sibling rivalry and parental comments provided some comic relief as well as family strength...and coming on top of Sloan and Max’s own pranks and shenanigans...plenty of hilarity to lighten the mood from the war the Deadly Seven are waging at home and out in the world.
Wondering where I’ve been hiding that I’ve never heard ofthis pretty awesome series called The Deadly Seven?!?!
Because I sort of jumped into this without knowing it was aseries. This is actually book 3 and even though I didn't read any of the previous books, I was able to follow along just fine and really, really enjoyed it! I loved Sloan and I loved Max and I can’t wait to read more aboutthe Deadly Seven (because Evan! Wyatt! And *fans self* Parker!)
Sloan (along with her 6 other siblings) are a group of superhero vigilantes a-la-Bruce-Wayne. Only they were created in a lab by fanatical scientists that thought by weeding out Sin they would save the world. Each sibling can sense a particular sin and they are driven to act on it.
But instead of wiping out the sinner, the Deadly Seven believe they can be redeemed. And that 's what puts them on the opposing side of the Syndicate, a group that believe the only way to save humanity is by distroying all sin and all Sinners. The Syndicate are also the ones that created the Seven and are pursuing them.
The sin of Sloth is Sloan's calling and she's been battling her sin for two months. Two months where she's barely left her apartment and can't find the energy to get out of bed on most days. All because she made the mistake of finally revealing her secret to the man she thought loved her.
Ex-soldier, Max still doesn't know where things went wrong between him and Sloan. But now that he's head of his own security outfit and literally across the street from her, he's ready to get to the bottom of their hostile estrangement. Only being close to Sloan triggers her mating tattoo and wakes up powers Sloan has no idea how to control. On top of that, the Syndicate is at it again with the whole cuckoo world domination thing. Romance and saving the world, all in a (superhero's) day's work!
This book has so many elements that I loved. There's action, there's danger, romance, superheroes! Fringe Science! It was a really fun read that reeled me in pretty easily, lol! I'll be adding the rest of the series to my TBR for sure after this review because I need to catch up on everything D7. Bonus that I'll have something to read while waiting for the rest of the series to come out :)
MemorableMoments: I loved the engagement ring! It was just so nerdy and romantic and swoon-worthy. I wish we'd gotten a proposal scene because this kind of gesture so needed it! Sailor Moon fans will totally get this :)
Would I recommend? Highly recommend. It's a series that brings a little bit of everything you love in a romance to the table. (4 Stars because although I loved both Max and Sloan together, it took a lot of hot and cold (from Max) to finally air out all the miscommunication and assumptions that had kept them apart. Things finally work themselves out but it did drag out a bit (too long) for my taste).
* * * ARC provided for an honest review * * * I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copyof this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow. What a story. Totally different genre for me, but I’m hooked for sure. Sloan is a hacker, but not just any, brilliant. Fast paced. Don’t miss out.
So, I couldn’t put this book down last night so I was up all night reading. The fact I’d had 3 cans of diet coke in the evening and I can’t handle caffeine past noon also contributed. I was so close to finishing that when I finished getting groceries, I sat in the driveway, windows rolled up, car turned off and though we aren’t getting the horrendous heat they are seeing in the States, still it was warm in the car. I read until I finished it. I’ve been enjoying Sloth that much.
Sloth, aka Sloan is a dedicated gamer and computer genius. Before the series opened she was very close to a fellow gamer from Australia. Though they had never met in person, they had developed strong feelings for each other and were all set to meet. But that was the same day the world kind of blew up for the Lazarus family. There was a huge fight amongst the siblings and although they still spent time together, their crime fighting days were over until the first book in the series opened. Another casualty of that day and Max, the fellow gamer did show up but the left before they met.
As this book opens, Pride also known as Parker, has hired Max and the security team he has put together, to protect the Lazarus siblings in their day jobs. No one knows who the deadly Seven are. In the time since Max didn’t show until he comes back into her life, Sloan has wallowed in sloth. All she does is play video games and she’s become somewhat detached from real life. If any Big Bang fans are reading this and saw the episode where Penny becomes addicted to gaming, well, that’s who I pictured Sloan as acting. It was amusing to me.
When Max comes back into her life it’s a catalyst for Sloan to come back to life. It seems as if it was a huge misunderstanding between her and Max over what separated them and their deep feelings are still there only covered by hurt they blame on the other. I’m not a fan of the big M and second chance romances are lower on my pick of romance tropes, thus the half point deduction. But once they clear the air this book is terrific and next to impossible to put down. I’m not going to go into the story itself as the series is very layered and we are constantly learning more. The tension builds a bit more in each book so I really think you need to start with the novella Sinner, where the groundwork is built.
I strongly, strongly recommend this series. I’m heavy duty into it now and will soon be starting Gluttony, the next book. As I’ve said previously, these books are on KU so you can read them for free. They are so very addicting.
I really enjoyed this addition to the series!! Sloth is a great read. It took me on an adventurous ride and it was hard to put down! My favorite of the series so far!
I think this was by far the best book in the Deadly Seven series! Lana Pecherczyk has really outdone herself with this one! To tell the truth, I've been waiting for one of the sisters to get a book ever since Envy. I was really interested in Liza, Sloan and Parker the most out of all the siblings, but after looking at the series order, Parker will be one of the last ones to get his book, so guess I'm going to be waiting for a long time.... Nevermind! Coming back to my newest girl crush - Sloan Lazarus, I fell in love with her in this book! In the previous books, she was heavily pulled down by her sin - Sloth, and was basically either sleeping or lazing around all the time, so no-one was really expecting much from her, especially not her family. But, she really pulled herself around in this one!
Sloan has had to deal with so many things, starting with her online boyfriend disappearing on her after she revealed her secret and losing the motivation to keep her sin in check. But, now the guy who broke her heart is back and she has to deal with him being around her all the time because Parker has hired him for their security team. Max has come back to Cardinal City after being dishonorably discharged from the army, and he hopes that at the very least he can make a difference in this world by protecting and helping the vigilante family that fights crime in the city. To be around the girl who we once loved is another perk right? Even though she keeps playing pranks on him and they hate each other? Or do they really? Hmm.
I think my favorite part about this book was Sloan's character development and the emphasis on girl power! In the previous books, we were seeing all the events and the family from a guy's point of view. We never really got to see how Sloan felt about being viewed as a last option just because they thought she was lazy, and how she had to deal with the crime-fighting!
“And for the record, that’s not me losing my shit. That’s me teaching you mansplainers to think before you speak.” She wrenched that pain reflex tighter, feeling satisfied at their grunts of surprise. “Next time you accuse your sister of being lazy or not pulling her weight, you’d better open your eyes first. If any of you had looked beyond your own male pride, you’d have noticed I’d been working my ass off to get my skills under control.” This scene was hands-down the best part of the book! *slow clap*
Sloan slowly starts coming out of her shell, by starting with some pranks on Max, then training for a mission and then finally fighting for her mate! The transformation is so skillfully done that we, the readers, feel so happy when she is comfortable and confident in her own skin!
And the relationship between her and Max was so beautiful that I wanted to give them a hug every time they had a scene with each other. This was more of a second chance romance and we get to see tiny references to how they were in the past too. Both of them have their own set of issues to work through, but the chemistry between them is explosive! I was waiting for them to work through their problems and come together! What sets Max and Sloan apart from the other sibling pairs(and what I really liked about them more than the other couples) is the fact that he already knows her secret. So, there is nothing much she has to hide from him except the secret that he is her mate. And even that gets resolved quickly. So, the major issue for them was the big misunderstanding! Yep! You got it!
I love how much faith Max has in Sloan despite all the stuff that has happened between them. He pulls her up and makes her shine like she is supposed to! “No.” He grasped the back of her neck, angry. Lightning flashed in his eyes. “Don’t do that.” “Do what?” “Belittle yourself. It’s not the makeup. It’s always you, Sloan.” Be still my heart! <3 <3 <3
The overarching plot is also beginning to pick up speed at this point and we get to learn a lot more about the Syndicate's goals and their key players. The Lazarus family is slowly coming together to fight against the main threat which is the Syndicate. But, there are many issues to be resolved, with the unmated siblings fighting to keep their balance and the mated siblings fighting to keep their mates safe from the threat. We had thought that the siblings would be safer and more balanced once they find their mates, but it turns out there is one downside that they hadn't known about before. One that could cause a major threat and loss of control! I'm totally loving the twists and turns!
And can I just give a big hug to Tony? My poor baby! He was such a great help to Sloan in this book! I loved how much warmth he added to every scene and him playing match-maker is the funniest thing! xD “AIMI?” she prompted. “Tony said, and I quote, ‘Debbie Downer needs to sort her shit out before we go on this hike.’ Then he ordered me to stop the elevator until you had. Debbie Downer is you, Sloan.”
Everyone in this book is so wrapped up in their issues that they can't see how much difficulty he's having with his own sin! And come on Parker, get that stick out of your ass and cut your siblings a break! I wonder what kind of mate Parker is going to have because it's going to take a special one to handle him! Like Sloan said I really do hope his mate is someone who repeatedly says no to him! Lol! And I can't wait to see how the story with Despair/Daisy is going to go! I'm dangerously addicted to the series at this point and waiting for the next book - Gluttony is going to be so hard! So, what are you waiting for? Go on and grab this series immediately because there is no way that you will not end up falling in love with it!

Two years ago Sloan was devastated when the man she loves stood her up. Now he’s back in her life. But we’re things as she remembers?
Sloan’s transformation from depressed useless member of the seven to badass was so satisfying. She had heartache and pain to work through and she overcame so much. Max also dealt with his demons and was able to help Sloan. I enjoyed how they were each able to take responsibility or how they broke the relationship.
Oh man… Daisy. I can see her struggle and I’m hoping we get more glimpses of her as the books progress. The Syndicate is much larger than I thought and it has me a little worried for the next books. I love that the author is able to weave such a complex story through all the books so it is cohesive.
It’s so nice when you find something you really like again. I’m happily buzzing as I have come across Lana Pecherczuk and her writing. Marvel meets romance is definitely the best way how to describe this series. Movie worth scenarios - fun, attractive, action filled and hot.
If you are a fan of series like Gena Showalter - Lords of the Underworld, Kresley Cole - Immortals after dark, Larissa Ione - Demonica, J.R. Ward - The Black Dagger Brotherhood - then this is definitely a must series to dive in next. And that’s what I’m doing and suggest everyone to do as well.
It’s book 4 and still I enjoy everything about this family and their mates. This book was more intense and more hands on action. A little less of bedroom action than the other 3, but the adventure was thrilling. Sloan is one of the younger children from all of them and most of the book she is trying to show her siblings that she is not un-mature but is strong, the same way her big brothers and sister. She is tiered of them looking down on her not only because she is a Woman, their Little sister, her sin is Sloth - and because of that everyone thinks she is just lazy, doesn't give a f* and sleeps all the time. But that is the sin she is fighting internally, the same what all her brothers and sisters are fighting as well, she was depressed in the other books, only now when she is balanced out with her new found mate she can prove to them that she is their equal. The fun fact is that Max is actually her ex, they have dated before and were in love, only they had a virtual relationship (very interesting) and miscommunication and misunderstanding led that they never met in real life and both thought the other dumped them at the most vulnerable times of their life. So they were booth angry at each other, because they loved each other and they needed to sort out all their personal feelings and grudges. The banter and pranks are fun and I smiled more than once, because not only it continues between the main characters but between all of the siblings. It's really amazing how an action movie can be filled with love and humour, they are the best movies ever, you always leave the cinema in a happy mood. The same goes for each of these books. You feel happy and energised that you have finished one.
Liked a lot: >The Sailor Moon love - her cat, her slippers, her ring. >All the inner and outer geekiness. >Still love the rivalry and fights and banter between siblings.
Not so much liked: >Last battle was a little bit of a lack luster. Proved her biggest power - she is a badass computer hacker, and there was no fight at all... I was lead to think there will be a "hell let loose", the Syndicate was ready to prove it to the investors, but there was nothing just her expertise and the "hint" from her older sister. She didn't really need to use her new powers at all. I was secretly imagining, instead of pane or sleep, she will make everyone feel love or lust or something to stop the fighting, but of course nothing like that happened. Not even close. >This book was less sexy! You get used how intense it is in first 3 books and how the endorphins or whatever attracts their mates, I got used that the brothers were always thinking about it, that in this book, I don't think she ever even mentioned it... how they attract each other once they have met. Thei had their couple moments, but it was nothing like between the previous books. There was no crazy lusting after each other, at last not in the same level as the other books, even if I think it was a little too over the board in the last book.

I really struggled getting through this book and had to put it down multiple times. There were so many plot holes and issues with the characters that this book was easily my least favorite in the series thus far.
Up to this point in the series there has been a lot of underlying feminist themes which, while being personally annoying in the other books, got chucked out the window with this book . This book is the first female hero who finds her mate and gets her power. Her brothers before her had very amazing physical powers like electricity and metal manipulation…hers is empathy. So she can feel and manipulate other people’s emotions, but has several drawbacks and limitations. This power affects her constantly, so she is always feeling others emotions and she has to keep hers absolutely in check so she doesn’t make other people feel what she’s feeling. Her power sucks. Doesn’t feel very woman power to me that her power is empathy.
Another issue that I have is that basically every single person in her family doubts her decisions at least once in this book. Wyatt (aka wrath) literally left the family for months and went on a KILLING spree in the previous book, Tony (gluttony) is either high or drunk 24/7, but the family never doubts either of them. Their reliability? Sure, but not their abilities. But Sloan does not get the same benefit of the doubt. She shows up late for family dinner most of the time, so that means she can’t do her job as a hero. At least she’s not out there killing people! Parker was the worst at this and it drove me insane the entire book.
Next, let’s discuss the romance. Sloan had met her mate online several years ago, but they’d never met in person so they were unaware of the mate bond thing. 2 years prior, there had been a miscommunication that made it so they didn’t meet and left them both with hurt feelings. And everything is her fault. Both parties agree it was her fault and then entire book is her feeling bad about it and him being mad at her. THEY WERE BOTH AT FAULT!! Either of them could have called the other and they didn’t! If anyone is actually to blame, it’s Wyatt’s psycho ex Sara who didn’t pass along a message to Sloan! But no, we can’t just chalk it up to an accident, we need to add another thing on Sloans shoulders for her to be mistrusted about and another reason to doubt herself.
All of these things felt very misogynistic to me and they were issues that were there throughout the entirety of the book. Every chapter one of these things was brought up and it just made me annoyed and left a bad taste in my mouth. At the end, the only character development we get for Sloan is that she stops doubting herself so much…but only because her man believes in her. Not because she actually believes in herself.
This book was horrible, and there were several plot holes and things that just made no sense, but I won’t go into those because I only want to bash a book so much. I’m hoping the next book is better, since I do enjoy the series as a whole.

I loved Sloth's story and I must say she is my most favorite Deadly Seven siblings so far. She is strong and vulnerable both at the same time. She can be lazy at times but when it truly matters not one works as hard as her. In short, Sloan is perfection. Sloth is still angry at Max for the way he ended things back when they were dating. Her idea of revenge is playing pranks on the guy. But when they are forced to work together, she soon realizes that her feelings for him haven't faded away with time. The guy broke her heart and she isn't ready to give him another chance. However, her very DNA is going against her. Now, she must listen to his side of the story otherwise they'd never be able to move forward. If Max is being honest with himself he would admit that Sloan is the reason he came to Cardinal City. It is not easy to resist her. She is badass and he feels strongly for her. But is there a future for them or will they just break each other's hearts all over again? Together, they continue fighting the Syndicate; the biggest enemy of Deadly Seven and the peace in their city. Just like every book in this series, Sloth not only tells the story of Sloan and Max but the side story continues as well. I especially loved the fact that we got to know Despair a little better in this book. I also enjoyed all the little titbits about Tony and can't wait to see what the author has in store for him. All in all, this is a great read and the series is going very well. Each book contributes to the overall plot and gives us more insights about the 'Deadly' siblings. Ant their little banters keep providing us additional entertainment. I think I have mentioned this before, but I really love how they all interact with each other. That gives their characters so much depth and you can feel how real they are. I think this series is a must-read for anyone who enjoys paranormal or superhero romance stories. And even if you don't I highly recommend this as your first superhero story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Finally, one of the girls is up !!! And poor them, they have to deal with so much testosterone all the time 😅 Obviously, I loved this one too, Sloan is a complex character who got driven by her slothfulness.
Two years ago Sloan was supposed to meet the man she dated online, in real life but that never happened. Heartbroken, she completely lost any interest in her surrounding, playing video games all day and falling deeper into her sin. Until the arrival of the new security team - with Max at its head. Between rage, exasperation, misunderstanding, sexual tension - Sloan wants to make him pay and decides to put out her mischievous side once again. After being discharged from the military Max is back again in Cardinal City, wanting to be near Sloan and help true heroes. But after what happened between them, he doesn’t know how to handle the situation and fix what needs to be done. As soon as they touch for the first time, Sloan knows that he’s her mate and starts developing her new power keeping it a secret from her family. However, the Syndicate has a new plan for them - and it’s ready to release wildness in the city.
Thanks for all of Tony’s intervention, he just loves his sister but seeing how he struggles and the impact it has on his physical and mental health it’s so hard and sad… I loved the fact that we start to learn more about Despair, that she starts to reflect on her actions and her dirty work for her father. I’m in love with this series, and will jump on the next one right now 🤩
I was super excited for this book, Sloan is one of my favorite characters we've seen through the other books so I was expecting a lot. I liked the second chance romwith her and Max, it didn't feel too forced which is a big issue I have with the trope.
I will admit I was fuming with anger when they revealed Sloan's power. From the first 3 books we have characters who are bulletproof, an Electro hunk, and a metal bender (I want him to control the iron in someone's blood so bad, could be a fun scene) So when I started our first female siblings book I was so stoked for her to control fire or be the flash idk. When the realization set in that Sloan was "empathy woman", I was livid. I calmed down when she learned how to control it and make it useful but I still don't think it's as useful because it leaves her vulnerable when she's channeling emotions in battle. I maybe would have liked it better if she didn't feel what others felt? It bothered me a bit but I really liked her and Max together. I also loved a lot of the dialogue in this book more than the others and my favorite scene was Sloan carrying Max. If you give me a female superhero I want to see them handle their male "damsel in distress" even if it's cliche, I find it funny and if I'm reading I want to have a good time.
Overall one of my favorite books in the series, Griff and Lilo are probably gonna stay on top though.
Finding breakouts in the genre of Superhero Romance is hard - few authors understand the need to both Wow with Power and Wow with Romance. Ms. Pecherczyk manages it perfectly.
The world concept for The Deadly Seven is these genetically engineered superbeings were created to hunt down sin and destroy it. They were stolen and then raised to hunt down sin and contain it. Now they are grown, their creators are trying to get them back, get them fully activated, and then release them to destroy the world.
So the seven brothers and sisters are fighting the bad guys, fighting their own programmed natures, and fighting for what is right.
I'll be honest, I read Sloth out of order - as the second of the series rather than the fourth. And it worked okay. The books have self-contained romances which allow for stand-alone. But the overarc of the bad guys gave me a couple spoilers as I returned to the earlier books. But I had to read Sloth first - a gamer, a computer nerd, and ... well, how do you super and sloth at the same time? I just had to see.
Oh, and her opposite. At one time, she asks him, do you ever slow down? (BTW, I can't wait to see how a romance works between Lust and her opposite. But I'm gonna be good and not jump ahead again, ... I think.)
Title: Sloth Author: Lana Pecherczyk Genre: Contemporary Superhero Romance **RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW** Yay Pecherczyk has redeemed herself. I adore this series but the last book, Wrath bored me to tears. It was a very slow read and I felt there really was no connection with the characters. Here I mean you know Sloan and Max are in love and hurt and fighting it from the word go. They knew each other, got their hearts broken, and came back into the other's lives. So I think that helped. It wasn't new but it was in a way.
I love Sloan. She isn't like her sister who embodies lust and is a police officer. Sloan is Sloth. She can be lazy, brooding, guilty, pessimistic, and just not care. She has a sensitive heart and her brothers have always treated her as a screwup because of her sin. I liked she had a little more curves due to weight gain but then she lost them all when she got back in fighting shape.
But seriously, as far as sex, this book was a tease because it wasn't about that. It was about being wanted. Both needed to know they were wanted. In a way all the books are about that. Each character needs to know they are loved and wanted for who they are. They are accepted. They are good enough just the way they are.
SO much love for the Deadly Seven, and Lana Pecherczyk for sharing her talents with us. This latest book is the best midway point. Not only are we introduced to a new Hero, it was a great lil refresher on all the rest of them, with teases and tidbits of things to come. I was so very lucky to receive an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Omg...the heartache, the hurt, the love, all the emotion in this book. I frickin LOVE Sloan!! She is a kick ass gamer girl with killer wit and snark, she is a member of the Deadly Seven. She is heartache incarnate. She is love and acceptance. She is the hope that fights despair. She has always been the youngest, always felt less than. This story is about her rise. Owning up to past mistakes. Recognition of her own self defeating habits. The realization that there is immense power in emotions and taking control of herself to reign that in and put it to use. And finally, finding love and being strong enough to stand up and accept it. Strong enough to take your rightful place and enjoying the power that comes when you know your own worth. Is there anything better than true self realization and the freedom that comes with it? Only love, and Sloan embodies that as well.
★ Engaging first read from the Deadly Seven superhero series ★
—>>> A tight-knit superhero family, developing powers, lifemate/ying-yang connections, and the ongoing war against the diabolical Syndicate. My first read of this series showcases Sloan Lazarus, embodying the sins of Sloth, who has to deal with an ex suddenly hired by her big brother and being front and center in her life. If only they had not broken things off the way the did years ago. But Max has been honorably discharged from the army and has valuable skills to add to the team as an intelligence-gathering specialist. The lifemated members of the Lazarus family now have more at risk and even more to protect. A slow-burn romance occurs between Max and Sloan as they reconnect, albeit reluctantly, especially on Sloan’s part, but it is only a matter of time before her developing skills could cause more damage than help their cause, and their past desperately requires reckoning. A true fight for justice, creative twists and turns, as well as heart-tugging moments made this a very engaging read, and I look forward to reading Gluttony/Tony’s story, as the glimpses we got into his state of mind are promising to be a great story as well.
A book full of “Power“ Quilt” “Fear” “ Creativity “ “Originality “ That should be enough for you to join the history & stories of the Deadly Seven.. Lana Percherczyk has created storylines that are “Marvel” movie worth. This is a fight for family to protect those within it and those on the edge as they fight their own sin and the people who want to destroy innocents. Sloth aka Sloan has drowned in her sin since loosing the man she loved. Max has his own story, one full of guilt, doubt & bitterness. This is not a hearts and flowers romance, this is an example of how the raw power, capability & capacity love can invoke. Every single one of the Deadly Seven books takes you to a world that becomes your own, there is enough realism and drama to keep your feet on the ground but your eyes on the skyline. Emotional struggles exist and occur as fact rather than the imaginary. I am confident in my recommendation for this book & series for any fictional Marvel Character lover, for any Fantasy Lover, For real Romance lovers, for any Kick Ass heroes and Heroines lovers and for any that value family loyalty in any shape, form or occurrence. Bring on “Gluttony”
When you are closely associated with the sin of Sloth, finding the desire to do anything can be a challenge. And when the guy who broke your heart turns out to be your lifemate, that isn't necessarily a motivation for change.
This is book three in the series and it works pretty well as a standalone. I did miss out on a lot of the previous family dynamics, but I had no problems keeping up with the main storyline. That being said, I look forward to going back and filling in the gaps.
This is a paranormal action story with a slow burn romance and lots of action. I read the description of the story and still was not sure what to expect, but I am pleased to say the book certainly delivered. The story is well written and easy to read with lots of action that keeps the story moving. Both the characters and setting are well developed with lots of details that bring the scenes to life and help pull the reader into the story. I really enjoyed how the characters interacted and worked through their issues. Overall, it was a very fun read and I look forward to future installments.
Highly recommended.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.
A very adventurous superhero romance with a “second chance” undertone. I found the plot to be well-written with enough intrigue to firmly keep the reader’s attention until the end. The characters are quite well-developed & each of them having their own personal issues to sort out while wanting to be loved & accepted for themselves. There is: a female hacker (Sloan aka Sloth) determined to put her heartbreak behind her & decides to plan her revenge on the man (Max) who broke her heart, a syndicate, unethical experiments, caring siblings, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, action, adventure, humor, regrets, vengeful feelings, pranks, animosity, discovery, mates, bizarre coincidences, confrontations, disagreements, manipulation, misunderstandings, miscommunications, devious plans, violence, conflict, abduction, beatings, unpleasant surprises, compromises, love, some steam, contentment & a somewhat happy conclusion for this couple with a very interesting epilogue that could be paving the way for the next book in this series.
Sloan ‘Sloth’ Lazarus sunk into depression when her online boyfriend, Maximillian Johnson, didn’t show up for their first RL meet, it was the night the city blamed the Seven for causing deaths. Max came but left immediately for an emergency. Convinced the other let them down when they were needed most, Sloan and Max stopped ‘speaking’ and playing online.
Tired of missing Sloan, Max took a job at the Seven’s security company while Sloan pranked and avoided him as much as she could. When they’re both assigned the same task with two of Sloan’s brothers, the brothers don’t trust Sloan’s idea but Max does and Sloan’s ‘extra’ kicks in, a power she tries to hide. And Tony asks for help.
Meanwhile, in Syndicate news, Daisy/Falcon fumes over being left behind as she revels in doing daddy dearest’s dictums, a strike at the Seven hits them in the heart and; one of their top geneticists, forced to use his advances other than the way he intended, wants to leave but doesn’t have a way past the leverage they have on him. But the Seven are brilliant. Rating: 4.25stars
Have to say right from the beginning this book had me rolling! I have truly enjoyed this whole series but Sloan was so funny and yet she showed a vulnerability and at times a toughness that resonated with me.
Who knew that such a well balanced FMC could lead such a convoluted life? The way that she views herself and her brothers. The willingness to not let her sin control her life and her innate sense of hacking have led her toward her not strictly obsessive need *but darn close to it*; to torment her “ex” Max in any and every way she can. But sometimes her pranks end up backfiring on her...and that’s when we really see the chemistry between Max and Sloan heat up.
If you love action, adventure, laugh out loud and cover your face in embarrassment moments....then this is the book for you! This is one book you won’t want to miss!
Hurry and one click this book today! You’ll thank me later!
Wow this 4th book is just epic. I can not wait for the others to start coming out of the author mind to paper. The action and adventure alone will have you on the edge all throughout the book. But epic battle between Sloan and her power of Sloth will blow you away. The drama ties in very nicely. And there are parts in the book that make me wonder if there will be a 9th book just for Despair aka Daisy. Don't read out of order or you'll definitely be lost. Sloan needs to get a move on. Her power sloth has been wrecking havoc on her since Max broke her heart. Nothing has been the same. But when the cocky sob walks back into in life. All sense leaves her, as she starts a cat and mouse game. He knows it all too well. He's just as hurt as she is. Can there be a way to find what they think is broken? Then with Despair nipping on their heels. Will they ever get a chance to slowdown and take their time together
I’m stingy with 5 stars. But damn if this book didn’t rip them from me!
First, I knew I’d love this book from reading up to here. Sloans character is relatable in ways. I always wanted to know what happened to Sloans date that stood her up. So when Max pops up as the D7s new fake bodyguard I was all in. The story starts right off with Sloanie doing her mischievous things to Max. I mean, who doesn’t like a good prank? No one expects Max, her Max, to be her actual mate. But I’m all for that happy ending.
This book has forgiveness, understanding, communication and overwhelming emotions.
But what really got me? The sacrifice. Sloan kissing her fingers and reach out in their signature goodbye. Knowing this was the end. Then shortly after in an entirely different scene, Max doing the same. I mean, I didn’t really need my heart. Here. Take it. Crush it. Throw it away. 😭😭
I was curious how they would match up Sloth/Sloan Lazarus and was not disappointed.
Sloan has been angrily sulking and nursing her broken heart by locking herself away from the world, playing her online games and ignoring her family as much as possible. When Maximillian Johnson re-enters her life, she takes her anger out on him by playing pranks on him and trying to push all his buttons until the two are forced to cooperate on a mission and discuss what really happened when they mistakenly broke up because of a colossal misunderstanding.
I like the odd clues that were thrown in the previous book regarding what happened in the past through the relationships that some of the Lazarus brothers had with Max and the tragedies that occurred that threw Sloan and Max's lives into disarray. I also love that Max is the uber computer hacking genius and not just another gaming nerd, showing her skill and brains that is of great importance in her family's fighting arsenal.
Max & Sloan: TRIGGERS: M.I.A., PTSD, hacking, parental alienation, kidnapping. Next up on the series is Sloth. Sloth hasn't been herself since the man she loved left her. She's fallen deeper and deeper into her slothy ways and her family is tired of her hiding and not training. She spends all her time hacking and eating. Now Max is back and living in the building across the street. He knows her darkest secret, that she and her family are the deadly seven. Max is back for good, recently discharged from the military for not following orders, he's started good own security business with his team. He knows Sloan hates him but not why exactly. As he works with her and her family to help bring down the syndicate they find that Sloan's powers are changing and her tattoo is equally balanced with him around. Now they have to fight to save their lives and be together. This story is more of a slow burn than the previous books but it's just as good.
