“Where’s Papa?”
No one had told Iliana that her grandfather was MIA. He hadn’t returned with Sloan and the others.
“Yeah, where is he?” Sloan asked. I grimaced.
“We really don’t know.” Her eyes doubled.
“You lost my dad?”
“Not lost, exactly. He’ll find his way back here.”
“Warren!”
“You saved me.” As Iliana stood, she pressed a kiss to my forehead.
“Then Fury bitch-slapped the Prince of Darkness with the butt of her rifle.” Ionis was sitting on the hood of the SUV with his legs crossed. “It was epic.”
Sloan continued her introduction. “This is Anya and Fury.” She pointed at me. “And this is Warren.”
The woman’s brow tightened with confusion. “But I thought Warren was Iliana’s father.” Oh, this is going to be fun. It was going to be like telling people Azrael and I were brothers all over again.
“He is,” Nathan announced with a smile as he plucked a banana from a fruit basket. “Sloan liked ’em young.”
Sloan put a hand on her hip. “So I guess I settled for an old man like you.”
Nathan paused with the banana halfway to his mouth and laughed. “My dear, I do believe your wit is getting quicker with age.”
“Wow, you look—”
“Too damn pretty.” Nathan stepped over beside him and pointed toward the stairs. “Go change. Right now.”
Iliana rolled her eyes. “Dad.”
“You do look really pretty,” Warren said quietly to her. She smiled and did a twirl in the pink sundress.
“Thanks. Mom picked it out.”
Nathan whirled toward me, horrified. “You’re responsible for this?”
“Paid for it with your credit card,” I said with a wink.
He put his hands on his hips. “Issues,” he said again.
