Sugarcoated

A hot, funny brother’s best friend rom com… with sugar on top!

She's his best friend's little sister. He's known her all his life. He's practically part of the family. There is nothing either of them could do to surprise the other at this point.

Then she showed up in his bedroom in lingerie and asked him to take her V-card.

Okay, that was a surprise.

Aiden is pretty sure Zoe was equally surprised when he told her no.

To say that he didn't handle it well would be a massive understatement. Almost as massive as the amount of work he's going to have to do now to convince her that he wants her. Forever.

Right after he tells her that he's bought the company that's her bakery’s biggest competitor.

Maybe if he tells her he’s in love with her first, that will help sugarcoat the whole we're-rivals-in-business-now thing.

So, first "I'm in love with you", then "take off your clothes", then "I'm now your business adversary".

Piece of cake.

Sugarcoated is done and off to my editor! This book is a combination of so many things I love...

~ A quirky small town.
~ A brother's best friend romance.
~ A virgin heroine who's just been waiting for the right guy--and not even realizing he was right under her nose for *years*.
~ A hero (ahem, a small-town-boy-turned-millionaire who's coming home) who's been restless, trying to figure out his next challenge and then BAM, SHE happens...the one, the woman who changes everything-- even though he's known her since he was five years old. lol!

I love when two people suddenly see each other for the first time in a new way. And hot pink lingerie does have a way of helping that along! ;)

Oh, and let's not forget another of my favorite things...sexy times in the kitchen ;)

If you've read many of my books, you know that tends to be a bit of a recurring theme. lol! Well, if you're expecting that from an Erin Nicholas book that involves a lot of baked goods and things like colored sugar and frosting and cream fillings...you're not going to be disappointed in Sugarcoated!

I can't wait to share more with you! I'm so excited that Sugarcoated is only a few weeks away! March 24th to be exact! And I'm thrilled that it's the start to a brand new series! Lots of laughs and getting to know these friends and spending time in this new little town, and LOTS of frosting...and whipped cream and melted chocolate and... yeah, 2020 is going to be very SWEET! ;)

STICK around! (get it? Stick...sticky? Like all that frosting and chocolate... okay, I'm done. For now ;) )

Thanks for reading!! xoxo Erin

5 Give Me That Sugar High Stars

Erin Nicholas, You Are The Woman. PERIOD.
You have taken the brother's best friend, the lose the Vcard, the Hatfield/McCoy Enemies, added the Sexiest Use of Bakery Products and made it all work perfectly. This is a book that will make you Happily Break Your Diet and Dive in. YUM!

Seriously, all kidding aside, this book is a winner in so many ways.
We have a small town that has been divided into two different families and their businesses. The owners were once dear friends and worked together creating bakery goods. Then one of the women thought to do something very different than what her friend thought would work. This was the root of the feud between these families and it carried over into generations.

You had the sweet, charming, family-owned, tried and true bakery vs. the big mass producing (think Hostess) cupcake-treats sold all over in markets, 7/11's, etc. This small town was almost a company town because a large portion of the population was dependent on employment at the large baked goods factory...and this has been going on for decades.

This is the backdrop to our story and it has major importance because of our two main characters and how all of this impacts them.

Zoe McCaffery grew up learning of the family feud at the knee of her grandmother and mother. She learned the family business as a tot and the sweet bakery is now her responsibility. She has been running it all on her own with another friend working there as her assistant. Zoe is now at that stage in her life where still having her Vcard is annoying and something she wishes to get rid of.

The only problem is Zoe didn't feel comfortable doing this with just anyone in her small town. Small towns have no secrets and she didn't want to see or hear from the gossip mill about how awkward she knew she would be. So she had a plan...

Aiden Anderson would be perfect for what Zoe wanted. She knew him and he knew her forever. He had grown up and became this smart, genius business guy. Her brother and Aiden were best buds and with a couple of other guys, they created a tech thing that became huge. It recently was bought and now they are billionaires.

Zoe approached Aiden during his Christmas visit from Chicago...entering his room dressed only in hot pink undies straight from Victoria's Secret. Aiden knew this was not a hit it and quit it thing...this was Zoe... the woman he had thought about for years. When he lifted Zoe from the bed and told her no, it wasn't that he didn't want her...But that was not what Zoe thought. She was crushed.

Now 5 months later Aiden has a plan to make Zoe his and also make an impact in this small town. You see the factory owner, the family Zoe hates with a passion, has decided to sell. The remaining family members need to infuse money and the main brother wants out. This situation gives Aiden something new to work on, allow him to move back, and also make his home town better. People will not lose their jobs and maybe with new management and fresh eyes, he can make it a better place to work.

And all of this is great...except the fact Zoe will think he is the enemy and he wants to be "Her One".

This was a terrific start of a series. It had everything and it presented future main characters in a way so that you would want to follow them. The chemistry between Aiden and Zoe was hot...smokin' hot and there were many inventive ways used for their sexy times.

I cannot wait for what comes next. There are 3 men who have distinct personalities, women who may be the perfect matches for them, and a small town to gossip all about them. Perfect.

Sugar and spice and Everything Nice. That is what this book is made of. I could not put this book down. Zoe and Aiden are the first in this series. They grew up together. Him being her brothers best friend. Zoe has liked Aiden for awhile. I had all the love hearts in this book. Even when I felt Aiden needed to say something about his new business adventure. I was even blushing some in parts of the book. Aiden says most of the right stuff. Does the right things and they both realize they are in this together. That they know each other but now they are getting to KNOW the part they hide from others. I may never look at cup cakes again the same way myself. That was WOW! You also meet some others in this book that are going to be great to learn more about. I think this is a good start to this hot melting romance. I can't wait till the next book.

Sugarcoated is the first book in Erin Nicholas's Hot Cakes series. It is absolutely fantastic.

Zoe McCaffery and Aiden Anderson have known each other for what feels like forever. Aiden and Zoe's older brother Cam have been best friends since they were kids, and their families have always been close, to the point where Aiden's practically a member of the family. Except that he isn't. Which is why when Zoe decides she needs to be rid of that V-card, he seems like the perfect candidate.

Except he refuses.

Hurt and embarrassed, Zoe throws herself firmly into "forget about it" mode and puts her head down back to work at her family's bakery. But Aiden had refused because he'd been surprised by Zoe's request, not because he meant never. His work is cut out for him when he determines that not only does he want to say yes to being Zoe's first, he wants her to agree that he'll also be her last.

Throw in some additional complications from a longstanding business rivalry with another bakery in town, and the hole Aiden's needing to dig out from seems deeper and deeper!

Erin Nicholas does a stellar job as always with creating warm, likable, three-dimensional characters whose strong family ties and friendships really shine. Appleby is a lovely small town in Iowa, home to Buttered Up, Zoe's family's bakery, and now hers. Founded by her grandmother Letty and nurtured by her mom, Maggie, Buttered Up is a living legacy, mainly unchanged since its beginning, since any change is witnessed by the town, and success or failure is played out in full view of friends and neighbors.

Hot Cakes is also a fixture in Appleby. A commercial bakery founded by the Lancaster family when its matriarch Didi had disagreed with Letty decades ago, the two families have maintained a chilly disdain for the other since.

With Sugarcoated, not only do we enjoy Erin Nicholas's trademark gentle humor, small-town hijinks, the loving and tell-it-like-it-is relationships, and amazing chemistry, we also have the chance to see some of the ups and downs of the intricacies of small-town life. Some of the community benefits are also responsibilities. The Hot Cakes series addresses some of these real-life issues on a deeper level without making it too heavy or losing what readers already love about Ms Nicholas's writing. There is even more to unpack here, for the characters' lives and for us readers.

And as always, Erin Nicholas writes relationships that model relationships as they can be. They're real life without being grim, and hot and sweet and sexy to boot. Neither Zoe nor Aiden are perfect, but they are just about perfect for each other, not just because of their scorching attraction, but especially in how they are willing to communicate and forgive and see that familiarity? Rather than breeding contempt, it offers both a tremendous comfort and the room to fully be oneself and love and be loved. And sometimes that being known really also gives you the room to change.

Sugarcoated is a stellar romance, and it's an incredible start to a series I am very eagerly anticipating. In the meantime, I'll have to find myself some baked goods and settle in for a re-read!

This book is everything and the best first in series ever. If you already know Erin Nicholas’ books then take the best of Sapphire Falls and of Billionaires in Blue Jeans and there you have Sugarcoated! And if you don’t know her books yet, well here’s your chance of getting your hands in something really good!

The trope of the book is best friend’s little sister, one of my favourites ever, plus you have the small town romance and the hot billionaire, what’s more to ask for? Oh yes, we also have family rivalry which is always fun too! I was in love with Zoe as soon as I read the opening scene of her meeting again Aiden, her brother’s best friend. I mean, how can you not love a girl that gets into the freezer and hide there?

“Zoe again opened her mouth, then snapped it shut, shook her head, and turned. She went straight for the freezer. She opened the big door, stepped inside, and shut it behind her”

I would totally do that. And what about Aiden? He’s adorable, super hot and you will totally fall for him and envy Zoe! Yes he went away but he’s back, to stay, and totally determined to get the girl and make things right
What are you still waiting for? Do not let them slip through your hands and grab this book, you won’t regret it!

A great opener for a brand new series, this book is full of some serious fun! I love Aiden and Zoe and I love a good brother's best friend romance. This one does not disappoint!! This book has me amped up for the rest of the series, I can't wait to get my hands on it! It is everything that I love about an Erin Nicholas romance; a quirky small town, hot guys, strong, independent women and a whole lot of fun! We are introduced to Aiden's friends/colleagues who will be the male leads in the four(!) other books and I'm excited to learn more about the women who will capture their hearts. This series is going to be so much fun, I can not wait!!

This book has the perfect blend of sweet and sexy with only a small bit of angst. Aidan and Zoe’s love story has all the feels. It’s the classic brother’s best friend story with a bunch of extras thrown in to make it so much more - small town, cute successful family bakery, a previous no to Zoe’s request for Aidan to take her v-card, Aidan’s purchase of the business owned by Zoe’s family’s sworn enemies/family recipe stealers, and so many delays by Aidan to tell Zoe the second reason he has returned to their hometown. Sprinkled throughout this beautifully paced story of Aidan and Zoe’s HEA, there are also a number of secondary characters introduced in this first book of this new series. Rather than being overwhelming or detracting from the main love story, these characters are central to the unfurling of Aidan and Zoe’s dance of love and passion. We learn enough about who the secondary characters are along with just enough of their stories so that they’re fully developed characters in their own right and definitely make me excited to hear what happens next for Hot Cakes and in the town of Appleby. With Sugarcoated, Erin Nicholas once again proves she’s a fantastic storyteller.

A delightful beginning to Erin Nicholas new series with sweet flirty banter and the right amount of dirty spice mixed in to make this a huge hit.

Zoe and Aiden have known each other for their entire lives. Zoe's older brother, Cam, is Aiden's best friend and Appleby is a small town in Iowa, so it isn't hard to not know practically everyone. When Aiden lost his mother at the age of fourteen Zoe's mother pretty much took over raising him and Aiden became an honorary family member. Both Zoe and Aiden looked at one another as a brother/sister for years, until one day they didn't.

This is definitely a book of where you don't see what's right under your nose until you wake up and recognize it. Since Zoe and Aiden grew up together and Aiden is her brothers friend, neither recognized the other as a romantic item. I honestly had to stop and think about my own brothers friends and the thought was instantly....eeeewwwww, although I also haven't seen most of them since I moved out of my parents house either, so I understand this trope and love the concept.

The chemistry between Zoe and Aiden is off the charts hot, but I also love that it takes a while to build to scorching levels. Aiden is a man who knows what he wants and never wavers, whether it is for his woman or in his business career. I love the confidence he has about everything in his life and yet he is also caring and considerate. He is a total unicorn, and I love everything about him.

Zoe is also very passionate about everything she does. Her business succeeds because of her drive and ambition. This also applies when it comes to Aiden. When she finally decided it was time and she wanted him, she put a plan in action and went after it. Unfortunately, he put a kabosh on it and said no, but her strong will didn't stop her initially, it just put a hold on things temporarily.

These two together are an amazing power couple. Driven to succeed they will bring the feud to an end in Appleby. They really do care about each other and also about the town, which will mean both of their businesses will ultimately succeed. I really can't wait to catch up with them in further books of this series to see how well they do.

Erin also set out the perfect ingredients that have left me salivating for the next book. I can hardly wait.

What an amazing start to this new series by Erin Nicholas!! We have the brother’s best friend trope. A rivalry between families. And that’s just the beginning!

Zoe and Aiden. Where do I start. The chemistry between the two is AMAZING. Even in their banter, you can tell they truly care about each other. I loved how Zoe was such a strong heroine. She has an image for what she wants, and goes for it. Aiden is perfect for her. He’s sexy, sweet, and brings a fresh set of eyes to some situations. Oh, and of course, what would a baking/sweets be without some ooey gooey amazing sexiness!!

We also meet some amazing secondary characters in this book, and it’s just the icing on the cake. I honestly can’t tell you who’s story I’m looking forward to most! The guys are so different from each other, it’s amazing they meld so well. The girls. Well, all I can say about them is they are DEFINITELY going to be keeping these men on their toes throughout the entire series!

You definitely want to grab this sexy, amazing read ASAP!

Best friend’s sister/ friends to lovers trope is my jam! And nobody does it better than Erin Nicholas! Aiden and Zoe were muy caliente from page one. Aiden frankly had his work cut out for him because Zoe is one stubborn miss! How is he suppose to tell Zoe about his new venture...when she has VERY rigid thoughts about said company....and convince her he’s home to stay, because of her?
His sweet and very sexy actions speak louder that words...but come on, he still needs the words! But so does Zoe, so any conflict can be worked out if they’re just honest with each other. Right?!
As much as I loved Zoe and Aiden, one of the best parts of a new series is to meet the characters who will be both introduced and woven through the whole series. I am very preoccupied now with who will match with who...and how their stories will unfold. I’m already in love with Jane and Josie, Ollie looks to be an absentminded but adorable nerd and Cam is going to be a fiery wildcard.
I can’t wait! Great first book, wonderful characters and a believable set up to both Zoe and Aiden’s story and ultimate conflict. Welcome to Appleby, Iowa.

Sugarcoated, the first book in the new Hot Cakes series by Erin Nicholas, deserves ALL the stars!

The perfect combination of sweet, romantic moments and spicy, sexy scenes, this story is a best friend's little sister tale with a few surprising twists. I loved reading Zoe and Aiden's fun and emotional journey towards their happily ever after. I also loved getting a glimpse of some of the fabulous secondary characters that will be featured in the rest of the series.

Hot Cakes promises to be another fantastic series and Sugarcoated is the perfect book to start it off!

SUGARCOATED (Hot Cakes Book #1) by Erin Nicholas is the first book in a new contemporary romance/romantic comedy series. This story is a best friend’s little sister/friends-to-lovers mash-up with all the emotion, humor and sexual chemistry I expect in a romance by Erin Nicholas.

Fluke, Inc. is a highly successful company started by five college friends who sold their highly popular, original video game for millions. Aiden and Camden grew up in a small town in Iowa, which is where they all become involved in the purchase and rescue of the town’s largest employer – Hot Cakes.

Aiden is looking for an investment project so that he can return home and claim his best friend’s sister and live happily ever after. The opportunity to buy and save Hot Cakes to keep three hundred people employed in his hometown pops up and he feels it is the perfect opportunity for Fluke, Inc. and him. How can he tell Zoe he loves her, but he also bought her hated rival and competition?

Zoe has been dreading Aiden’s return to town ever since he turned down her surprise offering of her virginity on Christmas Eve. He is back and shaking up everything she believes in and Zoe does not like change. As Zoe begins to open up and believe in Aiden’s love, he is still hiding his other reason for his return.

This is such a sweet and tasty treat of a romance. When I started this book, I thought Aiden and Zoe were so different, but they both ended up having the same fear. Ms. Nicholas’ dialogue is witty and her sexual tension and inuendo continue to ramp up the heat to a sexy and hot scene in Zoe’s bakery. The sexual banter and sex scenes are explicit, but not gratuitous. The introduction of Zoe's friends and all the other men in Fluke, Inc. has you anticipating even more fun and sexy romance to come.

I recommend this first book in the Hot Cakes series and I will definitely be waiting for more.

This isn’t the first time that Nicholas has made me love a trope I normally pass on. I actually passed on two free books with the trope today. But I’ve come to trust her unequivocally with my romantic heart, and she never fails to ply it with laughter, make it blush with the fun times, and wring every last drop of emotion from it with poignant, heartfelt writing. Nicholas is a word virtuoso, and her romantic comedy symphonies are unparalleled.

Zoe McCaffrey has spent all her life in the small town of Appleby, and she basically grew up in the family bakery, Buttered Up, which she now runs. She's smart, stubborn and determined, yet still innocent in one area in particular. When her brother's best friend and the guy she’s known her entire life comes home to visit at Christmas, she goes to him for help in dealing with that innocence. And he. Turns. Her. Down.

Five months later Aiden Anderson is back in Appleby to stay. His plan? Win Zoe's heart, convince her it's forever, and, oh yeah, inform her that he and his partners have purchased the Hot Cakes factory, Zoe's biggest competitor. We also get a nifty little twist when Aiden goes all caveman, claiming Zoe before there's even a romantic relationship. As you can imagine, this doesn’t go over well with our feisty, strong-willed heroine, and what ensues is romantic comedy gold! Zoe decides, with the help of her BFFs, that she'll have a little fun and get a bit of retribution with Aiden by teasing and taunting him before succumbing to his charms. But two can play at that game, and it only serves to up the flirting and tension, and OMGee, the chemistry between these two! I needed my own walk-in freezer to cool off in, and that's long before there were any closed door scenes.

Something Nicholas does exceptionally well is to create a community and make the reader feel like she’s an integral part of it. Appleby is a charming small town in America's heartland, and it’s only industry is Hot Cakes. There’s some great history between Buttered Up and Hot Cakes, and it may have divided the town a bit, so I’m curious, when you read, if you’ll be on the side of Zoe and Buttered Up or Aiden and Hot Cakes. These characters are immensely lively and endearing. They'll charm you, make you laugh, make you want to shake one or two, and they'll own your heart completely. This book sets the scene for what’s to come, and I can’t wait for Dax and Jane's story. We get a glimpse of the sparks flying between them, and it's going to be epic!

Get in on this series with this first book, because it's going to be fantastic. Zoe and Aiden's story had me laughing so much my sides hurt. I already told you about the hot parts that don’t involve cake (or maybe they do), and the underlying vulnerability as Zoe and Aiden work their way to forever gives them a permanent place in my heart. And Aiden vulnerable? Let’s just say he's a sight to behold and managed to squeeze my heart and make me laugh all at once. Trust me. This one is phenomenal, so get your copy and start reading. You can thank me later.

Definitely a very cute best friend's sister romance, which just happens to be one of my favorites. 5 months ago Aiden turned down Zoe when she requested that he take her virginity. But he wasn't really turning her down, just waiting until he could move back home and actually be with her. Aiden has been close with Zoe's family for years in fact their mothers were best friends. Aiden is also Zoe's brothers best friend. He is well liked by her entire family and friends. He decides to buy a local factory and there is bad blood there due to a feud of sorts with the family who owns it. I really liked how the characters came together. Their story is so cute and sweet. One thing that Erin does so well is also build the secondary characters especially the ones that will have stories of their own. You actually want to read the rest of the series to see how it all turns out and of course to check in with the couples that are already together. I am anxiously awaiting the rest of the series.

I love Zoe & Aiden! Zoe is stubborn, loyal, pushy & fun. Aiden thinks he’s all that and actually acts like he’s doing Zoe a favor to come back home & be with her. What I loved about this book, besides it being set in Iowa & the Hawkeyes mentioned a lot, is that Zoe & Aiden case each other to think outside themselves. Aiden has her rethinking her hatred of Hot Cakes & some of her more stubborn & rigid decisions. Zoe has him realizing that his take on things isn’t the only take. Other people’s emotions can go a different way. I really think they are perfect for each other but they did need the time apart to mature & grow. I really love the cast of characters that have developed between her friends, his partners & others in the small town. I can’t wait to keep reading this series!!

What a fantastic start to the new series by Erin Nicholas. Aiden is Zoe's brother's best friend (!) and Zoe is the owner of the bakery in town that has been in her family for generations. When Aiden comes home for Christmas, Zoe throws herself at him with disastrous results. Or so she thinks. Aiden goes back home but only to get things in order so he can get back to Zoe and declare his love. Oh yeah, and he buys the factory in town that Zoe has declared her mortal enemy. How Aiden goes about getting Zoe to forgive him for leaving her high and dry at Christmas and to forgive him for buying the factory is where the fun starts. Convincing Zoe is the best thing he's done in a long time...and the most fun.

Classically Erin Nicholas writing with small towns and baked goods. You'll feel all the warmth and love and friendship in this new series.

Bon Appetit!

“Heat” that is what this book is. Aiden is the boy who lost his mom at a young age then spent a lot of time with his best friend Cam. Cam had a sister that was 4 years younger then him Zoe. They grew up together and spent a lot of time together. When Cam and Aiden left for college and then went in to business together with three other friend they had meet in college. Move on a few years and Zoe is living in the house that Aiden grew up in so when he came to town he stayed with her. At Christmas Zoe offered Aiden to be her first and to teach her about sex. He turned her down. Then he decided she was the on and went home 5 months later. Will Zoe give him the time or does she move on. All while trying to decide what to do Aiden bought the company that she has hated all of her life.

This is a must read. Erin Nicholas keeps you on your toes about what will happen all though the book. I loved every minute of this book and can not wait to get to the others in this series. Fantastic job Erin.

Zoe and Aiden have known each other all their lives. Zoe is Aiden’s best friends little sister. Zoe runs her family’s sweet shop and five months ago she asked Aiden to take her virginity but turns her down. Aiden, Zoe’s brother Cam, and three other guys got rich inventing a game and now they’re worth millions. Now he’s back in town to claim Zoe but he’s going to have to get her to forgive him for embarrassing her. And once she finds out that he’s buying her competition, he’s really going to have to get her to understand he’s doing what’s best for the town.
Friends to lovers story. Sweets and romance. A woman who doesn’t like change and a guy who has a sort of hero complex. This is the first book in this new series and I can’t wait to meet all the other guys.

Sugarcoated is a sweet, friends to lovers story that is full of fun, friends and hot romance. Zoe and Aiden grew up together, Aiden being Zoe's brother's best friend. Who would have thought that after all of these years they would develop feelings for each other. Aiden is happy to be moving home amd starting a relationship with Zoe. Too bad he with his best friend and partners have just bought out the rival to Zoe's business. Now he needs to break the news to her and her family. Zoe amd Aiden were wonderful together. Aiden is so supportive and encouraging in Zoe's business amd their chemistry is great. Who knew icing could be so much fun. I absolutely loved Sugarcoated storyline and all of the characters. What a great new series! I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

This was the first book in a new series and it was an excellent start! This book made me hungry for cupcakes and more books in this series. Aiden and Zoe have known each other their entire lives, their families were very close and Aiden was Zoe’s older brother’s best friend. After Aiden left his hometown for the big city to make it big with his job he comes back home...for Zoe and a new job opportunity. Zoe and Aiden don’t fight their attraction too hard and Zoe opens up about her work to Aiden. But Aiden keeps his new job from Zoe since he isn’t sure how she will take the news. I think we can all see how this will work out for him...
I actually love how Zoe handles everything from the moment Aiden came back to town, now mind you she is a bit stubborn at the get go but she does keep everything that is told to her filed away in her mind and does try to make small changes. Ones that she can be comfortable with and still makes her happy with her bakery.
I love all of Aiden’s partners and I am excited for all of their stories. This is going to be a wonderful series and I can’t wait for more!

This is such a sweet and fun romance. Aiden was practically raised by the McCaffery family. Cam McCaffery is one of his best friends and he’s also very close to Zoe McCaffery. Loved how well they knew each other. It’s been 5 months since she offered up her virginity. Is he too late now to claim it? They are so cute together. But he’s got a secret to tell, will she understand? Really loved his big gesture at the end. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

Sugarcoated is so sweet it just might give you a toothache.  This new series by Erin Nicholas is sweet as frosting and hot as an oven.  I haven’t read a book by Nicholas that I didn’t like, and the Hot Cakes series is going to be the cherry on top.  The next book in the series is Forking Around and tells the story of two supporting characters from Sugarcoated, but don’t stick a fork in it just yet because the series then continues with Making Whoopie.  I just have to assume that each book is going to be one delicious layer after layer of the gorgeous men that make up Fluke Inc and thereby make up Hot Cakes.   5-stars for Sugarcoated by Erin Nicholas.

Zoe hasn’t seen Aiden since the Christmas Eve kiss that went down in history as the seduction that shall not be spoken of.  Now five months later and Aiden is standing in Zoe’s bakery in a suit and claiming he is there to win her over and marry her.  Zoe has known Aiden all her life, he is her brother’s best friend and he is the guy Zoe wanted to take her virginity, but that didn’t go the way she had planned.  Now Aiden wants her V-card and everything else that goes with it.  Aiden has known that he was in love with Zoe for a long time and didn’t tell anyone including her brother.  When he heard that Hot Cakes, the factory in town that makes snack cakes, was for sale he jumped at the chance to move home and be with Zoe.  Now all Aiden has to do is convince Zoe to give him a second chance and then not hate him for buying the factory that her and her family consider their competition.

This was free on Amazon which is why I chose to read it. Although it wasn't bad, it wasn't good either. It was just... okay and a tad odd.

There was a decent semblance of a plot although I would estimate that the book is 50% (or more) sex scenes. Although I did skim so it's possible I got lucky and happened to stumble on mostly sex scenes. Who knows.

But my favorite line is the following:
"She'd become horny.

Like... what? That is such odd but hilarious phrasing. What a strange way to say someone is horny.
I don't know why but that line was just so entertaining to me.

Overall, this was a steamy freebie with a decent plot and a very odd line.

Wow, what a start to a new series. Erin has a way of coming up with just the right mix of characters to make a fun read. We get to meet everybody in the group but our focus is on Zoe and Aiden (but the anticipation for the other's stories is well built). Aiden is back in town to claim Zoe as his but he has two huge stumbling blocks in his way--his reaction to Zoe's surprise during Christmas and a big purchase that might just really mess up things between them. There's so much to love about this story but I don't want to spoil your fun in reading it by giving too much away. Just remember that pink, frosting, creme filling and ties are the glue that holds the key to happily ever after.

Erin Nicholas has a new series and this first book in the Hot Cakes Series, Sugarcoated is just as sweet as it sounds. Aiden and Zoe were made for each other. I loved their chemistry and their banter. Their whole relationship from start to finish was just amazing and so much fun to read. They're just so cute! And totally hot for one another. Oh boy! Were they smoking hot! I will never look at a cupcake the same way again. Seriously, Aiden is now my dream guy. What a wonderful start to a new series that I can't wait to read more of and now I have a sudden craving for some cakes and pies and I don't usually have a sweet tooth. Now if only Aiden could hand feed me some cake ;)

A new series from Erin Nicholas is so exciting! Sugarcoated is certainly worthy of all the anticipation. It is a big brother's best friend trope, which I love because there's already a history between the characters.
Zoe and Aiden's relationship is bound to change as Aiden fights to correct one unfortunate night with her and boy are there all sorts of fireworks along the way! I have a whole new appreciation for bakery goods after reading Sugarcoated! Zoe and Aiden are all kinds of hot in the kitchen with lots of sweetness mixed in for just the right end product--a truly fantastic book!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Find your comfy reading spot and get ready to sink into a sassy, sexy, fun read. Zoe and Aiden have chemistry that is off the charts. This is a best friends little sister, friends to lovers and a second chance all rolled into one. This is a great start to a new series. Loved All the characters and can't wait to read more in this series. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
