Things are finally looking up for Toni. The lodge is almost finished, she has an amazing boyfriend, and the town she chose as her new home is turning out to be a dream come true. Now if people would just stop getting themselves murdered!
When a body turns up at a local bakery, all eyes turn to Gabe, the sheriff. After all, there's never a better suspect than an angry ex. To make matters worse, his second in command happens to be the victim's brother, and the victim's ghost is haunting them, swearing Gabe's the one who killed her.
That leaves it up to Toni and Dee to solve the murder and put a restless ghost to rest before the new temporary sheriff in town throws the book at his boss. Not to fear, though. It's not the first time they've had to solve a murder against the odds.
Join Toni, Dee, Maisey, and crew on their latest crime-solving adventure and meet some new friends along the way.
I was born and raised in the South and even hung my motorcycle helmet in Colorado for a few months. I've always had a touch of wanderlust and have never feared just packing up and going on new adventures, whether in real life or via the pages of a great book.
When I was a little girl, I didn't want to grow up to be a writer—I wanted to raise unicorns and be a superhero. When those gigs fell through, I chose the next best thing: creating my own magical lands filled with adventure, magic, humor, and romance.
I live in Florida with my two dogs and when I'm not writing or reading, I'm racing motorcycles with my taller, more handsome half, hanging out at the beach, or binge-watching anything magical on Netflix.
I'm eternally grateful for all the people who help make my life what is today - friends, readers, family. No woman is an island.

I am sorry to see this series end but it's been fun to read while it lasted. I have liked all of the characters and I adored Miss Masie. The mystery had enough twists to keep me guessing but it finished up quickly without some resolutions that I would have liked to see about the characters and their relationships.
Loved this story. This has great potential to become a great series. The characters are well crafted and the world building is great. Maisey is my favorite character by far, love a snarky ghost. The story flows and the mystery was fun. Looking forward to reading more books by Tegan Maher.
Entertaining ghostly cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. A young woman is escaping a bad marriage and a bad life. Her ex-husband took just about everything she had. She scraped what she had left and decided to move to a small town and bought an old lodge. She soon finds out it needs a bit more work than she was expecting. Along with her new friends and partner. They begin restoring the lodge. Her original plan was to move there and write a book. Now she has turned it into a bed and breakfast with her new roommate and friend. Only problem is every time she turns around either she stumbles upon a body or someone else does and then one of her friends or someone else in need is accused of it. She seems to have a knack for solving these crimes. Follow along as they all figure out. Oh by the way at the lodge Macy the original owner who happened to have died 150 years ago is still hanging around. As she lets her self be seen buy a select group of people. She even puts her two cents in and helps at times. Very entertaining and a fun read. Check it out.
This is the last visit with Toni and the gang for a while. The B & B is finished being renovated, there's just a couple of chairs to 're cover and it's all done. Dee's baking is going well, Annie is getting more clients wanting to hire her as a designer and Toni's relationship with Scout may be finally ready to progress to the next level. So everything is going nice and easy in their little corner of the world when a stranger hits town --------- a stranger to Toni anyway------- turns out she's Gabe's ex wife and she's not here to reminisce about the good old days. Before a day has passed she is found dead and unfortunately Babe is the prime suspect so it's time for Toni, Dee and the rest of the gang to sort out who the real killer was. Easy peasy except no one has a motive for wanting her dead but Gabe. This is a high quality read as always, the writing flows seamlessly would have been five stars but at time it just seemed a little rushed.
Cute. Unfortunately this is the last book in this series. I honestly wish there had been more in this like what happens with the new ghost Darlene? Darlene is a rich snob in life who complains about everything and makes sure everyone knows how little she thinks of them.
Darlene is found strangled in her hotel room and Toni and Dee help discover who the killer is. It just so happens Darlene shows up to assist! She starts out with the same attitude she had in life, but eventually learns to be nicer after thinking about what a jerk she’d been. Oh, and Darlene just happens to be Gabe’s ex-wife. Gabe, the Sheriff. Gabe, Dee’s current boyfriend. Gabe, the murder suspect. Whoa!
I’m now going to read another book by Maher called Murder Without Mercy. It’s book 12. I have previously read the 11 books prior. It’s from the Witches of Keyhole Mystery series.
An easy reading cozy mystery complete with a resident ghost Maisie. This series began with Toni who bought an old house/mansion following her divorce without viewing it, when she arrived it was extremely run down and had a ghost who wanted her out. Toni soon makes friends with Dee, Annie, Nicky, Scout and Gabe and between them they renovate the house with Maisies help. This 5th book a previous resident of the small town returns to try to sue Gabe her ex husband but ends up dead. There are so many suspects due to her terrible attitude and personality which makes it difficult for local police officers to find the murderer. Join Toni and her friends to find out who killed Darlene, with the help of Maisie. This series has been great but is the last book at least for awhile as the bed and breakfast is finished, and things are going well for them all. Definitely worth starting at book 1 though, and if you have kindle unlimited these books are available there.
I found this author quite by accident just at the start of her writing career - and I am so happy to see how her books have grown over time! This series is a fun one - a new life for Toni has resulted in a renovated Lodge complete with ghostly Maisey, a bit of romance and lots of adventure solving mysteries in her new small town. It is a shorter length novella, but all of the story is there, no filler needed. Well-written, nicely paced and witty - would highly recommend!
Toni and Dee have another murder to look into. This time it's personal. Gabe's ex is in town to sue him for half of the house he was raised in. The one they lived in while married. Now she's back to get what she believes is rightfully hers. The only problem is Gabe has gone to meet her at her hotel, and is found standing over her still warm body.
This is a fun series. Each new story is like coming back to meet good friends you haven't seen for a while.
I really enjoyed the first four books in this series, but this fifth was a confusing mishmash. The characters names got switched around a bunch, the dog was missing, the characters apparently forgot about a ghost they met in book 3, the motive for the murder is vague. I’m sad that this is how the series is ending. It was so good up to this point.
Well if this really is the last, it's a good 'un. Tegan's rounded everyone up and out, making dreams come true in this book. Plus we've still got the typical murder to solve and even got to learn more about Gabe's past. I don't know how she does it so well but makes you feel like you're a part of everything! I wish I could pack up and take a real trip to Mercy, GA.
I love this series! It's a light cozy mystery series with romance, fabulous friends, and ghosts. The plot moves quickly and keeps you guessing. The characters are fun to revisit from one book to the next. I hope this will not be the last book!
Once again Toni and Dee are pulled into finding clues to solve the latest murder. Having guests at The Lodge and Maisey being in the mix the story is a joy to read. I thought this book was fun and the characters are all so great.
Breader off Dead is Book 5 in the Haunted Lodge Series. I really love this series alot. The characters are well written and make me laugh. The mystery is fun, I had my sleuthing cap on and I did not guess who did it. Tegan Maher has quickly become one of my favorite authors.
I'd likely go 3-1/2 stars if I was able. This was a short read, so it had the advantage of getting to the resolution without a whole lot of filler drama. The plot held together fairly well. While I'm not in love with the characters in this series, their interactions are entertaining enough.
This book was entertaining but it ended too abruptly and let a few loose ends. Especially as this was the final book in the series. I enjoyed the series and I am disappointed that this was the last book.
This series was fun, but I only give the books four stars because there were just too many errors! Tegan, I really enjoy your work and look forward to reading more. I only hope you've found a better proofreader!
The synopsis led the reader astray. Gave didn't need their help. This was a poorly written storyline, and quite boring to boot. Glad it's the last one if this is all she has left to offer.
I like the series. This book, however, was not great and was sluggish until the end when things wrapped up too quickly. I would rather have a good book than one that was thrown together to get it over with.
This is an easy read. The well described characters (who you'll love), and the well told story will keep you turning the pages. They end up seeming like friends. Great Reading Everyone!
