Homeland security agent Jesse Mitchell has been undercover as an ice sculptor for months, trying to infiltrate a smuggling ring. He wants to avoid trouble, and that’s just what Casey brings. Now someone has a target set on Casey. Saving her could blow his cover, but leaving her unprotected endangers him even more—especially his heart.

Elizabeth Goddard does suspense well. I learned something about ice sculpting in this one, too, which was very interesting. Loads of suspense and intrigue.

*My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. My opinion here is my own.

This is one of Elizabeth Goddard’s books I hadn’t read and I’m so glad to have rectified that oversight! BUT, it was a night I really needed to get sleep, and I found myself so engrossed in the book, I was shocked when I looked at the clock and it was almost one a.m.!
If you’re looking for danger, murder, undercover work, and romance, this is a great book to read. I really liked the heroine, Casey. She reminded me of a reporter I know. Always looking for a good story. But this story almost cost Casey her life.
Already on the run from exposing a crooked CEO of a non-profit in her hometown, Casey ran to her aunt’s home in San Diego to hide. When someone broke into her aunt’s house, then almost ran over her, she didn’t know if it was the crooked CEO or someone new. And she certainly never figured on falling for the handsome ice sculptor. This was a great story with twists and turns that kept me turning the pages.

What a good story! This was my first time reading a book by this author, but it won't be my last :) Even though it didn't grab my attention at first, the story does pick up and I found myself eager to know how everything gets solved. Lots of good clean action, Jesse was a good hero even though he was conflicted throughout most of the book, and Casey survives many close calls in this one. Part of her was terrified and part of her got tired of running and longs to fight back. The ice sculpting was something original and really interesting within the plot. I love the cover to this book and was pleased with how the story ends! Jesse, PLEASE keep Casey out of trouble, phew :)

This had a bit of a slow beginning, but once it started going I really got into it! So glad I stuck it out. The ending was definitely worth it!

I'm not surprised, though. Elizabeth Goddard has a gift for building together intricate mysteries full of unexpected twists. Freezing Point did not disappoint in that arena!

Jesse was undercover again, it was the first time since he had blown his last cover and he was tense. And now this reporter woman keeps showing up wanting to do a story on ice sculptors, which is his cover. Is she really looking for a story about that, or is she after a deeper story? He has to stay on his toes to make sure he doesn't blow this job. The biggest problem seems to be that this reporter can seemingly find trouble anywhere, from wandering around the ice plant, onto the loading docks, to having someone follow her around stalking her.

Casey Wilkes knows that leaving Oregon was the right thing, surely Will Tannin cannot find her all the way here Orange Crossings California. The man was obsessed however with destroying her, so she wasn't sure she was safe anywhere. She knew though she would have to have a job and approached the local paper, who told her if she got the story on the local ice sculpting competition and a local ice sculptor she would have have a job. So that was exactly what she was doing, going after a story. Who knew she would find so much trouble doing that.

A quick read, lots of action to keep your attention and a sweet love story to end it all. Definitely a great way to spend an evening!! 4 stars 214 pages US $5.75

Freezing Point was another good Love Inspired Suspense novel. While predictable, I still enjoyed the story and liked the characters. I loved the whole undercover aspect - I always enjoy books with undercover agents! The romance seemed to move a little too quickly, but the book is only 214 pages, so that isn't surprising. Overall, I liked Freezing Point and look forward to reading more of Elizabeth Goddard's books. :)

I won a signed copy in a goodreads giveaway! This was a short read, but it was really good! My only complaint would be a slight lack of character development. Even so,it was a wonderful, suspenseful book! Thank you to the author for this copy!

I enjoyed this mystery ride story. I love watching ice carving because I could never be so creative. So an ice-making company that is doing something else plus romance makes the perfect story for me. The ending was better than I anticipated.

Title: FREEZING POINT
Author: Elizabeth Goddard
Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense
October 2011
ISBN: 978-0-373-44463-2
Genre: Inspirational/romantic suspense

Casey Wilkes has fled to her aunt’s beach house in California to escape from a crazed man in Oregon who wants to kill her for ruining his life. Once in California, Casey, an investigative reporter, goes into the newspaper office to look for a job. She is told she’ll be hired if she gets an interview with the ice sculpture that is entering a competition. Fortunately, this ice sculpture works for her uncle, and Casey uses that method to get past the barriers in place to talk to the sculpture.

Jesse Mitchell isn’t really an ice sculpture. He’s really a homeland security agent, undercover as an ice sculpture to bust a drug running ring that operates out of the warehouse. Unfortunately, Jesse is friends with the drug runners…equally unfortunately, he finds Casey on the loading dock about the time a deal is about to go down, and he has to steer her to safety. But, this has brought Casey to the attention of the bad guys. Not only that, but she’s still in fear of the man who tried to kill her in Oregon.

Jesse knows that Casey could mess up his whole operation and that he needs to stay away from her. Unfortunately, someone has a target set on Casey. Saving her could blow his cover—but how can he leave her unprotected?

FREEZING POINT is the newest romantic suspense by Elizabeth Goddard. I like the unusual aspect of having an undercover agent as an ice sculpture. That really made the story interesting. Jesse is a very sweet understand hero, kind to everyone, and good. Casey is running scared and of course, everything is against her and everyone is after her.

If you are looking for a new and different romantic suspense, then be sure to pick up FREEZING POINT today. It is a good read. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book. $5.75. 214 pages.

Casey is a journalist who is hiding in California after exposing a man’s activities and background and ruining his life. He has threatened to killer her, so she’s under an assumed name and staying at a relative’s beach home. But is she safe?

Ms. Goddard has created a fast tale with two major points of danger that will keep you on your toes as you follow the story line. Her protagonists are intelligent, they believe in doing the right thing despite the risks, and are attracted to each other. The author writes a good action tale about contemporary subjects that you read about in the paper almost daily; this is a realistic tale.

Jessie is an undercover ICE agent but Casey wants to interview him as a public interest story: he makes ice sculptures. He’s also competing to win a prize, which makes an even better story. Jessie doesn’t want the attention and doesn’t want another innocent bystander to get hurt on his watch. This creates an interesting internal conflict for him. He wants to kiss her and he wants to push her away.

Casey soon discovers Jessie is protecting her and she appreciates it. But she’s also suspicious about why he’s always around when she needs help. So her suspicion that he may be more than he appears to be adds to the tension in the story. This author does an excellent job of expressing the emotional roller coaster ride both these characters are on. They draw close together and then move apart.

I enjoyed this story. It drew me in and made me care about the characters involved. Why not get yourself a copy and watch Jessie and Casey dance around their relationship while trying to resolve two separate problems? It’s a good read.

"Freezing Point" by Elizabeth Goddard was a change of pace for me, since I don't read many cozy mysteries. That said, I'm not very familiar with the conventions of the genre, so I'll just be up-front about my main problems with this story. First, the back story overwhelmed me. I Googled to see if perhaps this book is a follow-up of another using these same characters. If so, I did not find it, but I read with the feeling that I was stepping into the middle of a series. Second, very little was left implied, which may be a pro or a con depending on different people's motivations for reading.

On the plus side, the story featuring two protagonists leading double lives and the problems of falling in love amid their respective secrets was twisty and engaging. Casey is quickly embroiled in danger from different sides, and it's crucial to Jesse's success and safety to find out which. The faith elements of the story were very well-executed and true to life. At various times, the main characters doubted whether God would listen to their prayers and cried out for Him in desperate situations. Wondering about the ending?

Overall, not my favorite but recommended for romantic-suspense/cozy readers who like a light, entertaining read.

I received a free copy of this book via Goodreads First Reads program. My opinions are my own.

Casey Wilkes is an investigative journalist on the run. Her last story destroyed the life of a psychopath who threatened to kill her. She leaves Oregon for Southern California and stays in her Aunt and Uncle’s house for a while until she can figure out what to do. In an attempt to get a job at a local paper, Casey takes on a story about an ice sculpting competition.

Jesse Dufour is working undercover for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, trying to bust a cash smuggling ring that is using an ice and trucking company as it’s cover. As an ice sculptor for the company’s catering business, Jesse is able to befriend those working in the smuggling ring.

When Casey comes snooping around the ice and trucking company, wanting an interview with Jesse about the upcoming ice sculpting competition, they both get more than they bargained for.

Both Casey and Jesse must learn to trust one another as Casey is hunted and Jesse does everything in his power to protect her while trying to not blow his cover.

In a plot full of twists and turns, this story does not disappoint. The more the characters learn of one another, the deeper the story goes. It’s an exciting page-turner with romance and intrigue around every corner.

When uncover homeland security agent goes undercover as an ice sculptor things get heated when a journalist starts poking around for a story.
Freezing Point had me reaching for a blanket when Jesse Mitchell is carving his ice sculpture and again when Casey Wilkes finds herself in some terrifying situations.
This is a well-written book with many twists, lots of action and the romance is good too. No matter how uninvolved Jesse wishes to be with Casey, something always occurs to put him in her presence.

I’d recommend this stimulating romantic suspense read.

As for the comment from one reader about poor editing, that is not the author's fault that is the editor, copy editor at LI. Once a book leaves an author's hands there are sometimes unexpected surprises in printing. What I would say is LI needs to give their authors more white space on the pages. That publishing line is difficult to read a quarter inch bigger in size would help. That being said, I'll still read the authors I like. Elisabeth Goddard is one of those.

I was thankful when I won this book through the Goodreads giveaways. I entered because it sounded really interesting.

It was not a bad story but it really stretched the believability scale. Our hero Jesse had been involved in several failed cases. No wonder. He is an undercover cop who does not like to lie to people. What? Get a new job. That is the nature of the profession.

There was a lot of action but when they started to bring God into the story it seemed forced. Then things got a bit better and seemed to flow more naturally.

It had a decent ending but then the author ruined it by tacking on a statement about the moral of her story. Good writing means you trust your readers to get it without having to have it explained to them in detail. So she obviously knows she is not that great a writer or has no faith in her readers..

I have been reading these "love inspired suspense" novels for a long time, and this is either the worst or the second worst. For the second novel in a row, the editing is bad. The last paragraph of page 88 has a wrong tense ("ask" instead of "asked") In the last paragraph of page 117, there is a disagreement of tenses. On page 189, a sentence is written in such a way that chain saws and chisels are melting as well as ice. All those are livable. Having the hero, posing as an ice sculptor, actually working for ICE is to, too precious. The heroine is so clueless as to be uninteresting - she is supposedly a successful investigative reporter, and cannot seem to tale care of herself in any way. Finally, her dwelling on being "Mrs. Jesse Mitchell" is SO Jr. HIgh.

While reading this story, I had chills and shivers as I read about ice sculpting and freezers. Dangers from the past surface to bring more danger and intrigue to the main character and her new friend. This is a fast paced, action filled, get ready for surprises story. Another great story by author Elizabeth Goddard. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.

I like how Jesse and Casey meet, and his dog Simon is precious. However, I am once again distrubed by the timeline. Falling in love within a week and then getting engaged the next one seems too fast. However, the ice sculpting angle is fun.
