Clovis is a Pre-American western with Giant Sloths and Woolly Mammoths. It follows Mea, a young mother looking for her lost son in the early American wilderness, 14,000 years ago.
Very much a classic "Boy and His Dog (Megatherium?)" type story, Clovis is a heartfelt exploration of the world, and monsters, we once lived amongst. Greb and Hartong's review they used near the end of the book are especially interesting, I personally loved Greb's review of "The Gentle Giant" archetype in the blurb on "Nobear"
Some of the science is a bit out of date and the series does fall into the classic trap of portraying predatory animals as fantastical monsters, but otherwise, the full novel is gorgeous, enjoyable, and the vibes are overall quite pleasant.
