Keane and Lennox work for a covert blank ops organization the Mavericks. When two girls, Sandrine and Brenda are reported having fallen overboard into the Puget Sound, finding them seems like it would be impossible. When one of the girls is the daughter of an Admiral, the Mavericks are called. Keane and Lennox search all of the islands near their last known location and they finally find. Due to the storms, the US Coast Guard can't pick them up right away so they are stuck on the island for another night. The action just gets started at this point, every time you think it's safe, you find out it still isn't. Then they get picked up by the US Coast Guard and you think the story will end there, but it is not over. This book had a story line that as unique and filled with many twists and turns. I am a big fan of Dale Mayer and love how she can keep writing stories that are fresh and entertaining.
Gosh this is tense and exciting as well as containg lots of suspense and some action. I felt for Sandrine, how scared she would have been not just for herself but for her friend. I could completely understand her not wanting to be alone after the nightmare she had found them both in, to finally have someone to help her and the relief that brought. But as always there are twists to keep the reader on edge, even with sparks of a relationship starting. I am always entertained by these stories, they hold my attention and keep me guessing, give me fabulous characters to both love and hate, a hea and a lead into the next book up, what's not to love. Always well written and different, the author does a great job with so many different series to come up with so many scenarios that don't repeat themselves. Well done another fab read
I thought this book was really, really good! This gripping, edge of your seat read wields tension with a skillful hand. It pulls you in and doesn't let go. There is plenty of suspense, drama, mystery, action, danger, adventure and twists as the story unfolds. Add in the romance that is brewing between Keane and Sandrine and you have a truly enjoyable book. This is my frank, freely posted review.
Keane and Lennox are sent out to hunt for Sandrine and Brenda who went overboard while sailing. What they find is murder, drugs, plots galore and a few crazies oh and maybe a little love. Keane and Sandrine have that instant connection but it's a slow burn. This one has a very interesting plot, but a very good read. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
Having been backup on a mission, it was now the turn of Keane Lytton to lead a mission and he was joined by Lennox as a backup, although initially he feels cheated over being sent on a last-ditch rescue mission to Puget Sound as it seemed more like finding a body in a massive area. It appears that two women have gone overboard in a sailing accident but it isn’t exactly what he is expecting. Keane is nothing if not adaptable with his various skills and so he can only hope the two women are alive and doing everything they can to stay that way - especially when he hears from the local coast guard that more may be involved than just a rescue mission, so he and his partner load up and head out to search the waters around the smaller islands off the coast. They have the GPS of the missing women’s last-known location, but storms could have sent them anywhere so this is going to have to be a methodical search. Sandrine and her best friend Brenda are lost and alone - even worse Brenda is unconscious with a head wound. When Sandrine wakes up fully it becomes apparent that they are locked in a small shelter on an island. When the door is finally opened it is an armed stranger dressed in fatigues who dumps a small amount of food and tells her they are on their own. When Keane and Lennox finally finding the women was one thing but keeping them both safe is quite a completely different one, that something much harder to achieve as more is happening on the small island than any of them were expecting. Can they all get off the island safely and solve the mystery s to how they both ended up in the water? And can Keane and Sandrine find the time to explore whatever it is that is happening between them?
This was a dramatic story that contained drama, danger, betrayal and love. It was interesting to follow and get to the bottom of what happened to the girls and the motivations for those actions which were not obvious and quite surprising when the truth finally comes out. I loved the way the relationship between Keane and Sandrine slowly developed and became something so much more over time which gives them great promise for the future. Well written and easy to read, it was clear and easy to understand how the characters were feeling and thinking throughout the story. Does contain some sexual content at the end of the story.

Word of warning, do not start this late in the evening. The last 10 pages to go and my eyes were so blurry, I definitely had to stop reading. This was a fast paced story of suspense and intrigue. The author really put the female protagonist through the ringer here. Just when you thought the story was coming to a close, more mystery and intrigue!
Keane and Lennox get the call to go to Puget Sound. They need to find two missing women. One is the daughter of an Admiral. Keane was a little disappointed that his first Maverick assignment is to look for what he thinks would be a body recovery mission. That is until he finds out that the week prior two other people went missing in the same general area. A call came in saying they were kidnapped. A few days later, they came up dead.
Sandrine went into the water during a storm to rescue her BFF who fell overboard from her boyfriend's boat. At least she was going to jump in but late she thought she felt a push. When she comes to, she discover she and Brenda are on an island. They are locked in a small hut. Brenda appears to have a head injury and not doing so well. The action just keeps coming and coming.
I love the fact that the story was told in a dual POV format. This really helps me to connect better with the characters and to fully understand their actions and speech during the scenes. The plot was a smooth one for the most part. Where I was a little disappointed was in Sandrine's character. She really seemed to come on quickly to Keane. Also near the end, some of her decisions where she was waffling were a big disappointment especially when Keane advised her to do something and why it was the best decision to do it. I can't mention it as it would give a part of the plot away.
Sometimes in these stories, the female protagonists can come off a little more aggressive and snarky and not the strong female under duress. While I have never been in any of these situations, I would just think that they would come off a little more humble but strong in most. I mean if your rescuer comes in and tells you to do something, I would. They have more experience it that area. Why talk back?
This is a sexy read. There were just a few scenes near the end. There were some details given but nothing of the erotica or spicy level here. I would recommend this story to anyone over the age of 18 especially if you love military romances.
This is the 9th book in the fabulous Maverick series, all standalone and all different. Keane Lytton had been backup on a mission with Nico Stratus and now it was his turn to lead. The Mavericks are a deep opp undercover operation, they are made up of ex military personnel who are fed up with the constraints of military life, the Mavericks work in pairs, they follow no rules, have seemingly limitless resources and they get the job done. Nico was to be Kean's contact and Lennox his backup. Keane was looking forward to a challenging mission and was devastated when he thought that they would be looking for two bodies, one of which was the daughter of the Admiral, the Admiral had commissioned the search. Sandrine Coulter and Brenda Leigh had disappeared overboard whilst sailing in the Puget Sound, two men on the boat made it home and reported them missing. Greg was Brenda's boyfriend and Scott had been Sandrine's boyfriend until she found him in bed with another woman, she was on the trip under protest. As the story unfolds the two women are rescued from the sea and imprisoned in a small cove from which there was no escape and one of them was badly injured. Keane and Lennox began their search, the information that they had was that two people had disappeared the previous week under similar circumstances, a message had been received from one of them saying that they were being held captive and then their bodies were found, they had been shot. This gripping story contains kidnapping, murder, infidelity, it has suspense and intrigue and of course, being a Dale Mayer book, romance, a really good read.

Another fast-paced, exciting story set around the many islands in Puget Sound and the Pacific Ocean. Two people went missing. A few days later, two bodies show up - both shot. Now, two more women have gone missing as a result of a sailing mishap or maybe something worse. Keane and his partner, Lennox, head out to search for Sandrine and Brenda among the many small islands that dot the Pacific.
Survival is the only thing on Sandrine’s mind at this point. Her best friend, Brenda, suffered a head injury during their ordeal and now they are both locked up inside a crude shelter with no food or water and no one else in sight. Sandrine is doing her best to care for Brenda, but who will care for Sandrine?
I enjoyed Sandrine’s feisty outlook on her and Brenda’s situation. Instead of behaving like a victim, she is prepared to fight for their lives. Her loyalty and love towards her injured friend and caring for her speaks volumes of Sandrine’s character and integrity. I also enjoyed the excitement and action when Keane & Lennox get to the island. The dangerous pathways and unknown terrain were treacherous as they were climbing around looking for signs of the women. Their hope is to find the women alive and needing rescue instead of sharing the fate of the other couple.
The excitement gets even better when they are all rescued and the women attempt to resume their lives back home. Keane is Sandrine’s hero both on the island and back at home.
This story has many twists and turns, unscrupulous and dangerous people along with murder and mayhem. You also get a full sense of satisfaction during some of the exciting scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, a must read for sure!
Keane and Lennox are assigned to look for two women, on of whom is a generals daughter. They were reported as going overboard when a squall hit. The major problem is this isn't the first time people have gone missing in that area and when they were found they were dead. Not from drowning but from a bullet.
It's a race against the clock as the Keane and Lennox start searching the many small islands in the sound. They searched several of the smaller ones, and found a spot to land and make camp for the night on the biggest of the islands. They start searching again in they morning and that's when things change up a bit.
While Keane makes his way down to the woman, Lennox heads back to camp to get their Zodiac. Unfortunately Keane rapidly discovers they aren't alone here when his rope is cut followed by a rock slide.
At least the women are alive although Brenda has a head injury. There's nothing to be done about that until they can transport her to medical help.
Lots of action in this one as Keane and an injured Lennox take on the men setting up some kind of communication boosters. They have to wait out the weather for the Coast Guard and it gets pretty dicey. This book doesn't end with the rescue either, and the attraction between Keane and Sandrine intensifies as the investigation continues.
I couldn't put this book down, plenty of suspense and intrigue with that simmer to sizzle romance I love.

This is another exciting book from Dale Mayer’s newer series, “The Mavericks”, about a covert black ops team comprised of retired military men.
Keene’s mission is to rescue two women, Sandrine and her best friend, Brenda, who had fallen overboard while on a sailing trip with their boyfriends. The women are missing, so Keene’s job is to locate them and bring them home.
It turns out that the women had been rescued from the water and taken to an isolated island. Even though Brenda had been seriously injured when she fell overboard, her rescuers abandon them on the island alone, without any food or water.
As Keene and his partner search for the women, they realize that they are not alone on the island. Someone attempts to kill both of the Mavericks. They also destroy the water vehicle Keene and his partner had used to find the women, thus leaving them without any way to return home.
Keene and his partner try to keep themselves and the women alive as they look for the other people hiding on the island. They hope to arrest them, and then find a way to get all of them home.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mayer works her usual magic as she creates a book with lots of intrigue, adventure, and plenty of accidents, to grab the reader’s interest without letting it go until the very end of the book.
This series has characters that are previous military such as seal team members. The books take them on missions that they are assigned by a group of members who also have been in the military but are either tired of the constant red tape they had to deal with or are feeling aged out by younger military members. This group works behind the scenes and are not sanctioned by the military. They get the job done but do not have to deal with all the bureaucracy that they used to have to deal with in the past. This book has a set of characters who are assigned to find two women that were reported missing after falling overboard on a boat. The story grabs a hold of you from the start and keeps you guessing. The twists and turns keep you engrossed in the book and you will not want to put it down. I loved the way the characters interacted and how the story ended. Another great book in an awesome series! Cant wait for the next installment.

When Keane waiting for his first mission as lead for the Mavericks at first is disappointed that they may just be searching for the bodies of two women that fell overboard in a storm.Keane an Lennox find more than expected when they find the women on a small island the problem will be keeping them alive til rescue arrives .This is one edge of your seat suspense filled story. The characters are captivating. The chemistry between Keane an Sandrine is smoking hot off the charts. This mission is turning out to be more than he expected. There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what;s next by this multi talented author.

Keane has received the assignment for his first operation to lead with The Mavericks. His SEAL buddy Lennox is along as they search for two women who mysteriously disappeared from a sailboat near Puget Sound. Working with the Coast Guard, it certainly has not started off as a typical mission.
An isolated island that is not as deserted as it appears and lives that are in danger from unknown sources for unknown reasons. Sandrine struggles to figure out what happened and where they are as she tries to care for Brenda, her injured friend.
Book 9 of The Mavericks series is as full of twists and turns as are the rocky ledges and rugged paths on the island. Will they make it home and, if so, will they leave the danger behind them?
Dale Mayer has written yet another great adventure to enjoy now and read again later.

Another hit in the Mavericks series with Keane leading the next mission to find two lost women at sea. He teams up with Lennox to search the islands near where they went overboard. Sandrine and Brenda wake up behind a locked door in a makeshift shelter on an island and encounter a man who gives them food. Brenda is seriously injured and Sandrine needs to keep her alive and try to get help. When Keane stumbles upon the two, he is targeted by someone on the island and Lennox goes missing....will the two be able to save their friends and escape the island with many secrets. A great read with a bit of steam, suspense and some action. I like these reads with no drama between the couples and the suspense that had some twists and turns throughout the read. The story flowed nicely, the characters were great and the surprises kept coming. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Keane by Dale Mayer The Mavericks Series Book Nine Keane Lytton is ready for his mission after being backup on Nico's. He's disappointed to find out that he, along with Lennox, will just be looking for the bodies of two women who supposedly fell overboard during a storm. Of course, nothing ever seems as easy as it seems.
Sandrine Coulter had woken up and found Brenda to be in bad shape. A head injury and out of it. With no way for a rescue that she could see. When it seemed hopeless, rescue came...but danger showed up as well.
A casual boat outing turned into a nightmare for Sandrine, and it didn't seem as if she'd wake up any time soon. Thankfully, she had Keane there to protect her every step of the dangerous way. The Mavericks Series has been enjoyable. A different take on SEALs after the navy with this unique secret group. **Sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Loving this series in which the ex-Navy SEALs have more leeway in handling their missions. This time Keane is up to lead a mission to try and find two women who went missing in Puget Sound. One of the women is the daughter of an Admiral, which is why the Mavericks were called in.
For Sandrine, the situation is even scarier as Brenda suffered a head injury and she isn't sure how bad the injury is. Plus she woke up to find them locked in a cave. But she tried to remain level headed to try to survive until help can arrive. Even after Keane and Lennox find the women, there is still lots of action going on as it is unknown how many other people are located on the island. Plus how did Brenda and Sandrine end up in the water in the first place.
This story is action packed, moves at a quick pace, and has many surprises along the way.
Keane is off to rescue two women that went overboard while sailing in Puget Sound. Lennox is along to help Keane with his mission. An Admiral sends out the call for help, because his daughter and her best friend are the two women missing. Finding the women isn't all that hard for Keane and Lennox, but figuring out who saved them, and how it was they came to be in the water is going to take some figuring out. Sandrine has been watching over Brenda, who was injured when she went into the water. Something isn't right with what happened, and something is definitely wrong with where she finds them after waking up. It's going to take some investigating to figure out the whole mess. Action packed, drama, mystery, intrigue and some romance. Another winner in the series!
Keane Lytton and Lennox are sent by the Mavericks to search and hopefully find an Admirals daughter Brenda and her friend Sandrine that have been supposable wash overboard a sailboat in a storm some where in the Pugetsound . They start their search after being assisted by coastguard . They make it to a large Island . After locating them they find themselves stranded till the coastguard returns . The woman have had a rough time of it Brenda with a head injury . More danger is awaiting them . As Keane and Sandrine grow closer they are all in danger . This is full of suspense and intrigue . It keeps you on the edge waiting for the next surprise . I highly recommend reading .

Relatable SEAL? Naw, how can that be but Dale Mayer pulled it off. Keane is a little perturbed that his mission is to go look for two girls who go over board in the sound. He is a Navy SEAL undercover ops, etc. Lets get real, all SEALS in book or real life are our heroes and over the top, but it was nice to see a little natural human reaction, even if it was for a second and then he pulled up his SEAL suit and became our hero. I really enjoyed Keane's personality, the strength and more importantly his capacity for understanding and dealing with is civilians, or in this case Sandrine. Sandrine was strong, intelligent and working through her ordeal while her friend was unconscious. Lennox, Keanes partner provided the right balance. This book is desert. Well cooked mystery with layers of suspense and intrigue topped with just the right of romance. Thank you for the arc Dale Mayer and Booksprout. I freely volunteer to share my thoughts and opinions.
It's Keenes turn to save the day! Sandrine and her friend are out on a sailing trip the surprise for Sandrine is who else was invited! When both girls find themselves in the water, and a storm kicking up. Sandrine wakes up in a locked shelter, with her friend unconscious and with a head injury. A man appears and gives them food, explaining he saved them, but they are on their own! Luckily Sandrine's Dad is brass in the Coast Guard and calls in the Mavericks and Keene! Not the most exciting case for Keene, but he goes where he told. And finds the women alive. But nothing is ever as simple as it seems! On one island there is so much drama, pirating, murder and mayhem. Another fantastic story!
Keane and Lennox don't hold out much hope of finding the two missing women, let alone finding them alive while Sandrine and Brenda may be alive but for how long is unknown especially Brenda and the fact they don't know exactly where they are, how they got there and there is no way off the island. There is so much unknown in this book I freaking loved it as you didn't know how many bad guys there were, why they were, where more would come from as well as if any of them would get off the island at all. If that isn't enough there were some fantastic twists, surprise and it all kept you turning the page as you simply didn't know how it would all end!!

With two women reported missing when their boat returns without them Keane and his partner are sent to uncover the truth and the only thing that they are hoping is that it remains a rescue mission and not a recovery mission.
Sandrine isn’t sure what events led to her and her friend Brenda landing on an island and being locked in, but she knows that they need to escape. The main obstacle standing in their way is that Brenda has been injured. When Keane and his partner find them that is when the action really begins.
Filled with surprises you don’t see coming, an attraction between Sandrine and Keane that neither expected and a lot of obstacles in their way, this story takes you on quite the ride.
Keane and Sandrine meet when Keane is sent to find the two women swept overboard and are still missing. Sandrine is taking care of her friend who was injured in the fall overboard when she figures out they are being held captive in a small cave on a deserted island. This book moves so fast, you have to be totally focused on your reading or you'll miss something. There are twists and turns. There are unexpected characters to show up and unexpected events. It all adds up to a great addition to the Mavericks series.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book and I absolutely loved it.
This is another well-written, fast-paced story in the Maverick series, it can be read as a standalone story. Keane is the lead in this new mission to rescue an Admiral's daughter and her friend who has gone overboard a boat and missing in the Puget Sound. Sandrine is scared but she knows to keep calm as best she can when she wakes in a locked 'room' with her injured friend Brenda. When Keane and Lennox find the missing friends, their rescue isn't as simple as it sounds.
Plenty of drama, action and intrigue. Highly entertaining, loved it.....
I love the Mavericks - a covert black ops team that gets the job done but may break all the rules while doing it and "Keane" was a perfect addition to this must-read series with strong characters and a thrilling adventure in the Puget Sound when he and Lennox are called to rescue two women who went overboard in a sailing accident. Ms. Mayer once again blue me away with this fast-paced, nail biter that kept me glued to the book from beginning to end. I fell in love with Keane and his attraction and undeniable chemistry with feisty Sandrine. I received an advance reader copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Former Navy Seals are part of an elite organization that doesn't have restrictions like the Navy. They do the same thing but have more leeway to get the job done. Two-man teams get an assignment to rescue victims. Each story lead finds romance/partner.
Interesting story. The stories are more authentic when using their skills to rescue victims.
The men all sound the same, with the same values in life, who want justice for the victims and to make the world a better place to live. There will always be evil people in the world. Their jobs will never end in the fight against evil.
Sandrine trying to put a broken relationship behind her but her friends trying to get her back together with her ex, Sandrine was not happy. A boat ride to hell. First her best friend goes overboard, when trying to help her she goes in too. Bad weather the next problem, than picked up, taken to an island of hell. Keane is ready for his next mission, looking for 2 missing females is the start of a new journey for him. With twists and turns the plot thickens before they can move on together. A great story that keeps you going to the end.
Keane and Lennox are sent to find two women that went overboard into the sound from the catamaran they were on. Sandrine feels certain that she was pushed when she leaned over during a storm to try and rescue her friend Brenda. The women wake up on a deserted island locked in a chamber in the rocks and that is where Keane and Lennox find them. Now they have to get the women off the island as soon as possible as their lives are in jeopardy.
If you like Dale Mayer's books you will enjoy this one.

Keane isn't too positive at first that their mission to find the two women will be a success. Sandrine and Brenda have survived, but are still in danger. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I love how the books in this series always have a touch of the unexpected. This is no exception. I appreciate how Sandrine additionally has to play a role in her own and Brenda's survival. I also like that the attraction between Sandrine and Keane is more than a physical one. I love this suspenseful story.
Wow book 9 already. Keane is eager to do his mission but it’s going to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. With 2 women missing, 2 people dead weeks before and 2 men safe on the boat the women fell from, it’s going to be a race against time to find the missing women. Loved all the characters. I read this book in one sitting because I needed to see what would happen next. These stories seems to get better and better as we get more books. I really want to see what happens when all of the missions are over.
