Hi! I'm twenty five years old and movie star gorgeous. The camera added thirty plus years and a few wrinkles. Can't trust those cameras or mirrors either. Along with bathroom scales they are notorious liars! Honestly, I am the mother of three fantastic grown children who've made me laugh and given me more story ideas than I could ever write. My husband, Charles, is my strongest supporter and my best friend. He's even willing to eat fast food and help with the laundry while I finish one more chapter! Life is good and I am blessed!

Reading has been a passion since I was five years old and figured out those were words on book pages. As soon as my chubby little fingers found they could put words on a Big Chief tablet with a fat pencil, I was on my way. Writing joined reading in my list of passions. I will read anything from the back of the Cheerio's box to Faulkner and love every bit of it. In addition to reading I enjoy cooking, my family and the ocean. I love the Florida beaches. Listening to the ocean waves puts my writing brain into high gear.

I love writing romance because it's about emotions and relationships. Human nature hasn't changed a bit since Eve coveted the fruit in the Garden of Eden. Settings change. Plots change. Names change. Times change. But love is love and men and women have been falling in and out of it forever. Romance is about emotions: love, hate, anger, laughter... all of it. If I can make you laugh until your sides ache or grab a tissue then I've touched your emotions and accomplished what every writer sets out to do.

I got serious about writing when my third child was born and had her days and nights mixed up. I had to stay up all night anyway and it was very quiet so I invested in a spiral back notebook and sharpened a few pencils. The story that emerged has never sold but it's brought in enough rejection slips to put the Redwood Forest on the endangered list. In 1997 Kensington bought two books for their Precious Gems line. Two years and six books later the line died with only four of those books seeing publication. But by then Avalon had bought a book and another, and another. Ten years later the list has grown to thirty nine. Last year Sourcebooks bought the Lucky Series which is in the bookstores now. They've also bought The Honky Tonk Series which will debut with I LOVE THIS BAR in June and will be followed by HELL, YEAH, MY GIVE A DAMN'S BUSTED, and HONKY TONK CHRISTMAS.

Folks ask me where I get my ideas. Three kids, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Note: I was a very young grandmother! Life is a zoo around here when they all come home. In one Sunday afternoon there's enough ideas to keep me writing for years and years. Seriously, ideas pop up at the craziest times. When one sinks its roots into my mind, I have no choice but to write the story. And while I'm writing the characters peek over my shoulder and make sure I'm telling it right and not exaggerating too much. Pesky little devils, they are!

I have a wonderful agent, Erin Niumata, who continues to work magic and sell my work. I'm very lucky to have her and my editors who continue to believe in me.

Happy reading!

In the finale of The Canyon series, the last sister is up against the ranch foreman to inherit the ranch, but will they catch feelings before the end of the year? A woman who has never had a real home or people she can count on must let go of her past and trust in love of family and her feelings for a man who might only be angling to beat her out for her dad’s ranch.

Sunrise Ranch is 2.6 in the Canyon series and the fourth entry that works best read in order. This quick read romance finishes out the story of the sisters with Bonnie, the youngest, and Rusty, the ranch foreman.

Bonnie had it rough with a wandering mother and a dad who abandoned her because she wasn’t a boy. However, she wasn’t the only one with issues from the past. Rusty was a foster kid and Bonnie’s rough dad was the first person to give Rusty a chance. The ranch has been his home and his dream. Bonnie only wants to win the ranch so she can sell it and spit in her father’s eye for the hurt he caused. Both are prepared to deny the feelings for each other and Bonnie is scared that her love for her sisters and Rusty so she doesn’t get hurt again.

Sunrise Ranch was quick and short, but it had a lot of heart and I really wanted to see Bonnie and Rusty win over their pasts. It was a good finish to the series. I found it was interesting how Carolyn Brown finished it with a realistic ‘no answer’ when it came to why old Ezra was the way he was about never connecting with his three daughters or why he arranged his will the way he did. But, good came of it no matter what and this was a solid series I’d recommend for cowboy romance and small town romance lovers.

"But finding love and settling down wasn't the right thing for Bonnie. She was born to fly,not grow roots in the canyon, and by the time New Year's Day rolled around, she would spread her wings and take off."

Three sisters were reunited for the reading of their estranged father's will that stipulated they had to stay at the ranch for one year. If they left, the ranch would go to the one remaining. If all of them left, Rusty, the foreman, would inherited everything. Bonnie's sisters found love and all already left. No one expected her, the free spirit sister, to be the last one standing. Maybe she just want to compete with the foreman? It seems that the more Bonnie is attracted to him, the more it annoys her. Can these two stubborn people stop bickering long enough to discover they'd make the best team together?

I read the previous novella about one of the sister but I had more fun reading this one. Bonnie and Rusty competitive but friendly chemistry made me smile and pleasantly sigh. A winning combination for me!

Fast read

I new this was a novella, but sheesh! Definitely a quick read. It helps that the characters are familiar to readers who are finishing the series. Rusty and Bonnie provide a tidy ending while getting their own happy ending.

Sunrise Ranch is a novella by prolific author Carolyn Brown. Six Months ago Bonnie Malloy knew nothing of the father that had turned her and her mother Vivien away Henry the VIIIth style, nor did she know she had two older half sisters that had been turned out in the same way. Upon his death the three women are brought together after his death to inherit his thousands of acres on the Malloy Ranch.

Of course there is a caveat—they must live on the ranch for a full year in order to inherit. If they leave, they will receive a sum of money and have no further claim on the property. Since both sisters Abby Joy and Shiloh have married neighboring ranchers they have forfeited claim. If Bonnie also leaves, the ranch will revert to ranch foreman Rusty Dawson.

Ezra Malloy had taken Rusty under his wing and Rusty had run everything for the old man, including taking care of him in his final days. It isn’t right and it isn’t fair that this legacy was jerked away from him. However, if he can just aggravate Bonnie enough so that she leaves it will be his. The problem is, he’s taken a liking to Bonnie.

This is a fun story of two stubborn people, each seeking a better life and looking to feel part of a family. It is told with humor and heart. I did enjoy this story and I do recommend it.

Nice end to the Canyon Series

The conclusion of the Canyon Series has Bonnie the winner and trying to decide if she should sell the ranch and continue her wandering ways or keep the ranch, Rusty and the family she now has with her sisters. Her mother makes an appearance, wanting her to take the settlement and join her in an adventure to California. You don't get the answer as to why Ezra left the ranch to the girls after promising it to Rusty but I like what Rusty says at the end, that for whatever reason Ezra did it, there were three grateful cowboys.

Carolyn Brown’s Sunrise Ranch, Book 3 of The Canyon novella is included in her Cowboy Strong as a bonus story. It has started out with a will stipulating that Ezra’s three daughters must live on the ranch to inherit. Bonnie Malloy is the last one, but then there is Rusty Dawson, who thinks the property is rightfully his based on a promise made by her father. Each becomes determined to drive the other out . . . until they realize just how much they enjoy being together. Sunrise Ranch is a lovable romance about two people finally admitting they are in love.

This was what I was looking for after the Daisies book

Finally closure to the Daisies story when Ezra last daughter makes her choices. This was the happy ending I expected having read so many of Carolyn Browns books. Her character development and relationship (friend and romance) growth is totally amazing. These three half-sisters met at their father's funeral! I never like to give away a plot as I don't care to read a book if I already know the ending (except history, and sometimes wish I could change that.) Worth reading along with DAISIES book and Wildflower Ranch.

unspeakably bad continuity. For examples: one character completely changed names between books 1/3. the disposition of the will AND dogs both changed from book to book. The characterization of the third sister changed -- we're supposed to believe that she falls in love with this completely unlikable, flat character? And she didn't drink in book 1 but will drink in book 3 and gets trashed? Nope. This is BAD.

Sunrise Ranch by Carolyn Brown whenever the world

Whenever the world looks grim and dreary a Carolyn Brown novel will chase your blues away. Her description of country folks and the small towns are so natural that a reader gets completely lost in the story. Ms. Brown is a wonderful writer apparently lives what she writes, since every author always leaves behind a piece oh their heart and soul. Reviewed by Heide Katros, Winter Haven News, Florida

This novella was included as a bonus in my copy of Cowboy Strong. Overall, I found it superficial, largely due to it's length. It didn't evoke any emotions for me and the conclusion just seemed to pop up out of no where. It is not the best example of Brown's work, but wouldn't be a bad vacation or beach read.

True Southern charm!

Carolyn has once again shot cupid's arrow into our hearts. This story brings together Rusty and Bonnie in a southern style romance. Bonnie, out lasting her two half sisters in a bid for their father's ranch, finds her roots and the love of her life. This is a touching feel good story. BRAVO Carolyn!

Bonnie is the last sister on her father's ranch. She is determined to finish out the year, then sell the ranch and skedaddle off to the beach. Only, she didn't count on Rusty. Or actually liking ranching. What next? This author is new to me, and I have enjoyed the stories I have read so far. Looks like I will be looking for more.

Resilience, family, and true love

Bonnie and Rusty's story was a good ending to the series. It's short and sweet and the irony of the three dogs named after Ezra's 3 wives was perfect. Sorry to see this series end. Another enjoyable set of stories by Carolyn Brown of resilience, family, and true love.

Sunrise Ranch

it was a,wonderful short story about 3 half sisters. How they met at their father's funeral and became friends as well. I loved when Bonnie's mother showed up and she tried to get her to go with her er and give up dancing . That is when she realized that she really liked it and had fallen in love with Rusty.

Love a fast read and having read the first two in this series, I knew I could count on Bonnie to stay on the ranch and marry, but getting there was fun to read!! The three half-sisters couldn't have been closer if they were all in the same family!

Sweet romance

A sweet and thoughtful romance with compelling characters and an interesting premise set on a picturesque ranch. A nice series, but this was the weakest one for me writing-wise.

A lovely quick read about a family from broken choices

This lovely conclusion for the Malloy sisters was perfect. The sister who was most surrounded by a broken past found the cowboy fighting hardest against broken promises. The future these two build is the strongest for it!

An End And A New Beginning

This was the best way to finish this series. The daughters of Ezra Maloy have each found their perfect soul mates, and the Canyon now has a much happier future.

Sunrise Ranch

Great story, Shiloh and two other half sisters had inherited the ranch, only if they stayed one yer. Two of the sisters could not stay , married two neighbors . Then it was just Shiloh and Rusty, Rusty being the Foreman. Now things are getting really interesting, just enjoy their adventure.

Loved this book. The love at first sight for three daughters of a father that wanted a son. Coming together for their father’s funeral . Now they all know what love is.
