“Each of us has a seed of our own, each as diverse as the person that carries it.”
Raised in an isolated world of strict rules, one young woman questions what is the purpose of the seed she carries in the palm of her hand. What is its purpose in a world that already seems perfect and is basically untouchable? Railing against her society, she decides to travel toward the distant tree line to discover her purpose.

A young woman lives in a society where the rules are very strict. She has always followed the rules probably because that is all she knows or has been taught until the day she is given a seed; a seed that she has no idea what to do with at first. She starts to look around her reviewing her surroundings when she gets this feeling inside of her hinting to her what it is she is supposed to do with the seed.
This young woman is sitting on a fence with other people all following the rules set before them and each with a seed in their hands when this one young woman jumps off the fence as if she has just discovered the reason for being given the seed.
It only takes one person to upset all the rules and do the right thing and maybe everyone else will follow. You know it only takes one person to plant a seed in someone’s mind and let them ponder on that seed for a little while wondering what to do with it and coming up with their own ideas as what it means or what to do and then pass that seed onto someone else so they can then put their ideas together to come up with a plan as what to do with said seed.
To Plant a Single Seed is a great little story that will hopefully help people to work together to plant a seed that will open people’s hearts and minds to better things to come.

A delightful, coming of age tale. The narrator is a young woman who, like everyone around her, holds a seed in her hand. But the semi-idyllic environment no longer holds her interest. Driven by internal needs, she turns away and travels toward the tree line to see what else might exist. This is a poignant story about self-discovery, sharing, and helping others. It is haunting as the creators of the place are unseen and unknown. It is scary in the sense of turning toward the unknown. It is happily-ever-after in the sense of discovery. Excellent story.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Haunting. Inspirational. Romantic. Scary. Tear-jerker. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
I am quickly coming to love this author’s short stories for one simple reason: impact. They no always deliver stories with emotional weight yet not feel compelled to drag the message out for chapters.
Here, the description is used with detail to enormous effect. You can picture the scenery and also feel our protagonist’s desire to help and impact.
And what an important message. About the importance of coming together for victory. I got “The Lorax” ‘Unless’ vibes.
I ended my day reading this uplifting short story. It is rich in symbolism, with refreshing imagery that made me want to go into the garden and dig my fingers into the soil. I'd like to revisit this lovely piece of literature. In the same way that a plant's leaves unfurl, the layered themes here grow with the reader.
A very timely dystopian tale of how the future can unknowingly be in your hand. Taking a chance, reaching out, can be the start of a brighter future. A quick and poignant read.
To Plant a Single Seed is an inspirational short story inspired by certain elements from Plato's Cave. But instead of looking at the metaphorical aspect of education and the stages of becoming a philosopher, I took the story in more a literal sense and combined it with a more modern twist. I wanted to write something that breaks down the walls of common thinking and shows working together can change our lives for the better. I hope this short story plants a little seed in the world and that it brings some inspiration to all those who read it.
