An instant connection that can weather any storm...until their dreams collide.
When Gretchen Roberts graduated from college, she planned a brief stay in her hometown of Candle Beach. Ten years later, she’s still working for her parents and wondering how her life got so off track. Luckily, she's got a plan for the future, which hinges on being hired for the lead sales job at a luxury housing development south of town. With a referral from her best friend Maggie, she's a shoo-in for the job.
But there's one little snag...
Parker Gray grew up knowing he’d work for his parents’ real estate firm in nearby Haven Shores. What he didn’t expect was that he'd be in constant competition with his older brother. He’s got to get out of there before he loses his mind, and the sales position at Oceanview Estates seems like a perfect way of reaching that goal.
Gretchen and Parker meet by chance and are instantly attracted to each other -- until they find out they're both after the same job. Who will win the coveted position? And when the dust settles, will they still want each other?
The Candle Beach Sweet Romance series novels are "clean and sweet" contemporary romances that can be read as standalone novels and have happily-ever-after endings with no cliffhangers.
Book 1: Sweet Beginnings -- Dahlia's story Book 2: Sweet Success -- Gretchen's story Book 3: Sweet Promises -- Maggie's story Book 4: Coming soon
I enjoyed this book. Not as much as the first one but it was still very enjoyable. It was hard at times to feel bad for Gretchen. She was acting petty at times but then so was Parker. However, everything worked out in the end.
Gretchen works in real estate with her parents, but wants to be out on her own. Parker also works for his parents and also wants to be out on his own. They both need this soon to be available dream job to make that happen. They meet by chance downtown, and have lunch together. It’s wonderful. But then, other meetings don’t go so well. It is easy to see how this one will end, and even little plot points along the way are obvious. It’s not very exciting, and characters aren’t terribly well developed. It’s not a bad story by any means, just not a great one, and not as good as the first one in the series.
Delightful story of a man and woman who compete for a job. To make things more complicated their parents were once partners in business but now hate each other. Can they find love with all these complications?
Pleasant enough to get to learn all of the characters. A nice read to avoid television, but not a book that makes you forget all one needs to do. In other words it is easy to put down and get back to later
Wanted to smack protagonist for fitting into shallow needy woman stereotype. I wouldn't have finished but it was the only thing I had to read while in the mountains.
