Hemingway's Paris is a captivating tribute to the life and work of Ernest Hemingway which transports the reader to the heart of Paris during the vibrant epoch of the 1920s.

One of the book's greatest strengths is its ability to bring to life the exuberance and drama of both the city and its inhabitants. Through photographs of the cafés, nightclubs, racetracks, boxing rings, and streets where Hemingway and his contemporaries lived, and worked, the book vividly captures the spirit of Paris as the epicenter of the Lost Generation. The book doesn’t merely focus on Hemingway himself but also highlights the figures who influenced him and the period, such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, James Joyce, Pablo Picasso, and many others who made Paris their creative hub. These personalities come alive on the pages, making it clear why the city became such a crucial place for the literary and artistic movements of the 20th century.

What sets this book apart is the way it offers a fresh and intimate view of Hemingway's time in Paris. We see him not only as a writer but as a figure who immersed himself in the social and cultural fabric of the city. From his early days as a young reporter during World War I to his return in 1945 as a celebrated author, Hemingway’s Paris illuminates his role in both the city's liberation and its artistic renaissance.

The book’s balance of personal reflections and historical context creates a compelling narrative for both lovers of Hemingway's work and those fascinated by the Lost Generation’s impact on modern literature. The inclusion of writings from his contemporaries and biographers further deepens the understanding of the time and place that shaped Hemingway’s creativity.

For readers who cherish Hemingway’s work and those who share a love for Paris, Hemingway’s Paris offers an immersive journey back to a time when the city was a canvas for some of the greatest literary minds. This book is more than just a historical account; it is a celebration of an era, a city, and a writer whose legacy continues to shape literature today.

A collection of quotes by and about Hemingway, grouped together based on various topics. Also with some photos, mostly of locations frequented by Hemingway, but taken in the 1970s. Nice to look through, especially if you've read "A Moveable Feast" or any biography of Hemingway.

Hemingway's Paris, by Robert Gajdusek, is a photo book of the various spaces and places once frequented and favored by Ernest Hemingway (he lived in Paris for 7 years). I would have preferred more color photos (the majority are black and white), but I also found myself pleasantly delighted throughout the experience. This is not a true-read book, but the photos are bordered by healthy excerpts of text from Hemingway by-lines, Hemingway books (largely A Moveable Feast, of course), and books about Paris and Hemingway. If you like any of those things, this book will please.

Was an interesting look at some of the photography and pictures and read the quotes from various Ernest Hemingway books and stories. Not so much much of a read but moreso for the art.
