My Dad was stationed in Germany the year I was born, but I don't remember anything about Germany from that time, because my family moved back to North Carolina soon after.

When I was a kid, I loved drawing aliens, and writing about aliens, but I stopped really enjoying writing one day in school, when I misunderstood an assignment to write about what would be the best day of my life. I wrote it from the perspective of an alien, forming a band with another alien, from a different planet. The teacher told me to erase the whole thing, and write something that had happened to me.

In 2001, my family moved to Germany again, this time Wiesbaden, where my Mom started homeschooling my sister and I. Writing assignments became fun again, but it wasn't until years later that I realized how much I loved writing. I was 14, sleeping over at my best friend's house, and I was a quiet, bashful, teenager, but my friend--who was normally the most outspoken, fearless, rebellious person I knew, was cripplingly shy over a guy she met at a martial arts tournament my sister competed in. She would be seeing this guy again, at an upcoming tournament, and he was all she could talk about. I started writing hypothetical stories about the upcoming tournament, jokingly, to gauge her reaction. I'd saved it in Notepad, on her family's computer, so she wouldn't be embarrassed. But when I realized I was up all night until 5 a.m. at her house writing about a hypothetical freak accident, I discovered how much I loved writing. At the actual tournament, she didn't get the guy... so I stopped writing those stories. But by then, I was already addicted to writing, and a year later, started working on a story (in secret,) The Adoption Elopement, that became Myrian's Journal, four years later.

Niiice , the book title caught the attention as it has extra 2 'i' in the title and author has surely justified it in the story plot though book cover is too plain.
The story starts with Elsie and then takes forward to Bertie and his friends Garret and Kyleen.
The story revolves around Bertie and his life and how his life gets twist when his neighbor Garret talks about his interest in Kyleen.

The chapters of the book has story narrated by these people in sequence and shares their perspective about the incidents of their phases of life. And how each one has different emotions at that time and what made them to behave in certain manner.
There are also more characters in the story that make us understand how life can be from the other end of the field and how Bertie expresses himself at the end.
Niiice is the expression used when you really understand the meaning of life lying behind the situations.

The book is perfect for light read and to know what others feel in same situation. It is a YAFiction book that can be read by all age groups and learn about importance of perspective in life. A breeze read with 166 pages one can grab it over a weekend.

First, huge thanks to the author for providing me with the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"Breath is one of the simple things people try to ignore or pretend doesn’t exist—maybe because they don’t want things to be so easy."

The story starts with Elise searching for Bertie, whom she met casually in a Mall. Elise is a very shy and introvert girl and isn't good at socialising.

Now she is thinking back to how she met him. This is how she met him.

One day while buying gifts for her brother she accidentally meets this young guy called Bertie, who offers her a job.

Wait. The main story is yet to start.

So, she goes to him and meets Bertie and all of his friends (they all work together in the toyshop). While introducing themselves they all narrate their story of how they met each other. From here on, the story goes in past.

This story of their past is amazing (and deep). I love when YA fiction is relatable with all those clumsy and anxious incidents in the life of a middle school guy. You laugh at times and feel sad for them at other times.
The interesting thing about this story was that it was narrated in 4 different PoVs!
(That means the whole story has 5 PoVs including Elise's)

Also, it is not repetitive which makes it truly incredible. As you may have seen when the same story is narrated once again with a different PoV, it becomes repetitious.
The story mostly covers the past of Bertie. His experiences of a boy in middle school and his relationship with his friends.

Coming back, the story continues with Elise and Bertie.
Talking about the romantic element, well, for me it was the perfect amount. Not too much nor too less. Just simple and sweet.

To sum up, this book is what the title says "Niiice".

Now, the thing I do not like about this book is that it ends. OK, OK.
I know every book has to end at some point. But I thought that this book could have been a little longer. To give some more time for the character development of Elise, who I thought would have been an excellent protagonist.

I know this book sounds a little complicated from my review but trust me the construction of this book is easy to catch up. So don't worry about that.

All in all, I think this book is well written and fans of simple, general YA fiction with a little bit of a romance would love it.

Imagine a retired gentleman who has had two careers, one as a military helicopter pilot, the other as a teacher, part of which was spent in the roughest part of one of the most dangerous areas of a major city. This gentleman recently published a book which breaks down fifteen Shakespeare plays and rewrites them in language understandable to middle school students. When asked what genre of motion picture he prefers, he unhesitating answers “Westerns.” Now, picture this same person reading a young adult love story, cloyingly entitled Niiice, by an author bearing the seemingly telling name of Summer McGaha. Here’s a brief summation of the book, provided by the author:
Months after Elise gets a job at a toyshop run by Bertie, a quirky young man who used to be a clown, he leaves a strange note, and disappears. Elise searches for him, while thinking back over the time she’s gotten to know him, and his friends.
I think you get the picture. Anyway, here’s the fascinating part – I really liked the book. The dialogue exudes emotion and seems quite genuine. The characters demonstrate unique and very human foibles. It’s a fairly short book. I consumed it in a little over an hour, and, to my amusement, I wasn’t ready to do anything else until I finished the final page.
The book’s title, Niiice, stems from advice given from one character to another on how to properly pronounce the word nice when the word needs expansion and emphasis. The format of the story has each character explaining his/her background in one of the most singular job interviews I have ever encountered. This novel is no classic; it serves nicely, however, as enjoyable light reading. I recommend it, no matter how old, tough, and curmudgeonly you might be.

Niiice has a really nice story line. To begin with i really liked the cover of the book and the title too. it's interesting and you want to know why nice is not nice but niiice. The book is an easy read not crowded with too many characters or subplots.
The story will take you through 5 different characters and their point of views. Four of these characters are related and you get to see the plot from all directions. Even though its the same story being narrated its not repetitive as different characters are telling how they perceived the same situation. It will make you think about how your own assessment of a circumstance can be totally different from another person's.
All characters grow in the story and you are able to see how their mental state changes too.
The only downside i saw was the development of the Elise's character. You don't get to know enough about her and i was left wondering why Bertie showed interest in her.
I totally loved how the story began, comparing breath to life and the way it ended too is beautiful.
Would definitely recommend the book for a light holiday read

Even with the thriller distraction, at its heart, Niiice is a love story — or at least, strives to be one.

The plot is easy enough to follow, making up somewhat for the smorgasbord of POVs in the book. With a not too deft touch, Summer Michaela McGaha introduces us to Elise, the 'new girl' in town, who is having a hard time settling down. She meets Berthie, a literal clown who offers Elise a job at his toy shop on the condition his friends accept her. For some reason that is never made clear, the meeting-cum-job interview takes place in a park where Berthie and his friends treat Elise to an exposition of their lives which makes up the bulk of the book.

Despite all it flaws, I found Niiice an interesting read. There are several good parts; McGawn manages to show well the complex web family loyalty can weave around us, influencing our actions in unexpected ways; the depiction of how past relationships often cast a long shadow even when we try to move on is also commendable.

All in all, a pleasant distraction on a hot afternoon.

‘ Niiice’ is a comedy/romance book with a very unique storyline and interesting, distinguished characters who can very often be relatable! The cover and name of the book is equally wonderful and distinctive. It’s a light and easy read filled with various elements and doesn’t focus on a particular theme and topic which makes it more engaging! I will be definitely reading the author’s future works!

An interesting romantic comedy genre is written by Summer Michaela Mcgaha, an aspiring young writer which tells a story about Elise, a young woman who is in a community college.

The story begins when she goes to a mall and meets a quirky man called Bertie(his unusual name seems to indicate his quirk behavior, maybe?). He approached her and offer her a job at his toy shop. A few days later, Elise meets Bertie at a place for an interview. Soon, she got that job.

Well, what makes this story interesting to me is how the author manages to tell the different point of view of 5 persons which is Elise and Bertie(of course the main character included), Kyleen, Garret and Tatiana. From the point of view of each character, we can know the plot and their problems. All of them have different problems but somehow it is related to each other.

From this story, we can understand the world of an outcast and how they struggle to fit in today's world just like Bertie's experience. However, he enjoys what he does and somehow manages to make some friends. And a love triangle also occurs which makes the story more interesting. Read the book and you will know it.

One more thing I like about this book, how the author describes the atmosphere and uses the word beautifully. One of them when Elise go to the mall,
"I wandered around feeling like a little kid,l lost and vulnerable, until...
My eye caught sight of a vibrant toyshop. My feet led the way out of pure nostalgia."
The character's development is also well described and it is enjoyable to read.

In conclusion, the story fits its title, Niiice. It is a very nice and awesome book with some hilarious/sweet elements in it. Another worth to read romance fiction works.
