A man awakens in a strange place with no memory of who he is or how he got there,
He finds there are two factions-normal humans and inbred , vicious cannibals. He helps the normal humans rescue kidnapped humans that were kidnapped by the inbreds.
While doing this, he has flashbacks to his past. He was in the military and killed a colleague who raped and murdered a civilian. He was put into a cell. His recall ends there,
The first book ends with the hero not sure if he is hallucinating or experiencing real life,

Short prequel type story. Strange start, don't know what is happening, so you are in the same boat as the first person character. World is interesting but way more questions than answers.Intriguing enough that I gave it 4 stars.
