The investigation leads Brennan from the posh opulent safety of villas above the Japanese skyline to the seedy depths of the Squalor, a urban ghetto built on landfill over Tokyo Bay, where Brennan soon finds himself in danger unlike anything he could ever have imagined.

The story is based in future Japan, when the world has changed and AI's are a normal part of life, as is segregation of rich and poor. The lead character is a cop who experiences a life changing moment. There is a love story, body horror, violence, a fight for change and rights and crime.
It is an engaging read, where you never quite know who is good or bad.
