A Sexy Paranormal FantasyShe must trust in the black-faced wolf...
Remi is plunged head-first into the world of the paranormal. A darkly handsome stranger tells her she’s been drugged, that she’s seeing things. Soon, it’s revealed he’s lying. Yet she must trust him to keep her safe.
When shifter Gideon notices an underworld boss taking an interest in a human female, he knows he must act. She’s the same woman who saved his wolf months before.
In returning the favor, it becomes impossible for him to keep Remi away from his supernatural world’s dangers, however.
Once Remi finds out all of Gideon’s secrets, will she let him go? Or will she decide to keep him forever?
This review was originally posted at https://tinyurl.com/2265bets. Remi has just gotten out of an unhealthy relationship with a manipulative egotistical narcist who decided the best way to get back at her was to ruin all of her gig options in Paris. That is until she gets a chance to DJ at a nightclub on New Years Eve. There she meets Gideon and her whole life changes, including becoming reacquainted with a black faced wolf that her great grandmother told her to trust. Everything is going great until her ex, Trystan, shows back up and everything starts crashing down.
I bought this book back in March at the suggestion of someone on Twitter and at the time did not realize it was part of a series. I was assured by the author that it can be read without first reading book one and they lived up to that promise. While there were little things that I felt I missed, mostly dealing with a curse, I don't feel I missed any key plot points that were needed to enjoy the story as a whole.
This book takes place in Paris and further as we follow our main characters in a post WW3 world. Everything seems different, even though it is only 50 short years since the great war ended. Cities are trying to rebuild, but they are no longer as sprawling as they once were. We get to meet who I assume were the characters from book one along with their father. There is also ancient voodoo spirits who are fighting an age-old battle.
Having previously been married to an awful narcist I can understand what Remi went through and what the Loa was trying to avoid. It isn't a great situation and men like that not getting what they want should be the goal for everyone. It is definitely the goal for these two, although if they achieve it I will leave up to you to discover in these pages. I don't have anything to complain about with this book and hope that you give it a chance.
