Thorin and Lola
3.5⭐️
“The Divine Life” is book three in Nikki Kardov’s Blackwell Jinn series. Each book is a stand-alone with a HEA and a different set of main characters, though the books still have recurring characters. It’s recommended that before reading this book you read the Novella “Last Wish” (Red and Cassie) then “Midlife Wish” (Dae and Ashley) and That Psychic Life (Poe & Willa) first. This way you don’t miss out on all the goodness of the characters and their stories. This book follows Thorin Blackwell and Lola St. James.
This book had me going through a whole lot of emotions, I was happy, sad, frustrated, annoyed, swooned, angry, betrayed and shocked. I have loved this series, Dae has been and still is my favourite with now Thorin being a close second. Thorin is so misunderstood, he is loyal, protective and sweet. All he has ever wanted is to make up for a terrible event that happened in his past, and redeem himself to his family. But the betrayal he gets in this book was unforgivable!
I have to admit I did not like Lola, I know this is going to be a shock especially after meeting her in “Midlife Life” as Ashley’s bestie. She seemed so awesome, kicka** and fabulous, but actually getting to know her in this book has been a real disappointment. She was constantly jumping to conclusions, she wouldn’t listen and she thought she was always right. She got herself into so many situations that could have been avoided if she had listened to Thorin. Also what is up with the whole double standard of not liking lies but she help back on of the biggest secrets.
But the biggest shock in this book was Mad, what the hell Mad was up with you one treating Lola like scum and talking down to the family.
I’m sorry I’m not able to give this book a 4, I really wanted to for Thorin’s sake, but with the betrayal, lies, and drama from Lola I’m not able to. But it was still a fantastic read, the storyline was exceptional and the secrets revealed for Thorin were shocking and so fantastic at the same time.
