Anyone dealing with a rough past should read this book. I heard Victor speak at a conference and read the book in three days. It is a very easy book to read with a message that is powerful.

Exceptional read

This was an exceptional book with an outstanding message. The chapters are short, quick paced in the story telling, and captivating. I was eager to read the each word knowing that there was a multitude of messages in them all.

The book is about the life of Victor Marx, a man who grew up severely abused as a child. His body endured physical, mental, sexual, and emotional abuse. He escaped death multiple times, used drugs and alcohol to numb the pain, and eventually found redemption and amazing purpose through Jesus. He shares his story candidly and weaves scripture into each chapter. Along with Bible verses that deeply resonate with his chapters, he asks probing questions that allow the reader to pause and reflect.

Instead of destroying or ending his life like too many victims of abuse do, he found Jesus and was redeemed. His redemption has not only saved him, but countless others all over the world go hear his story and turn to Jesus for hope and healing in their on lives.

He is a vessel and God is using him to make heaven more crowded. He is gifted, and leads a Godly life by example. He has a huge heart for children, and those who are hurting. He has gone to other countries multiple times to rescue kidnapped girls, children, and families from ISIS. His ministry provides safety, trauma therapy, and the hope of Jesus. It’s admirable to see what he is doing it his scars!

Victors wife wrote a few chapters which I thought was really cool! Her last chapter was an emotional read as she encouraged those married to victims of abuse. She writes of love, grace, and faith through first hand knowledge. As I read her words I kept thinking it was pretty freaking cool that they (Victor and his wife) do everything together- even writing. It made me smile and love their unity even more. Power couple y’all!!

Therapist has a chapter at the end that walks victims through getting proper help. It was beautiful and powerful to have in the book! Readers don’t need to search for the answers because they are etched into every page.

The book ends with information on forgiveness, what it is, and what it is not. It also walks readers through forgiving themselves, those who have harmed them, and Jesus. It was POWERFUL!!! I’ve always felt like I have been blessed with a heart to forgive, but reading through the pages and prayer God spoke to me. He showed me an area where I am still holding on to bitterness and resentment and he allowed me to seek his strength in releasing it. I wept knowing that more of my heart had been set free. More peace, hope, and purpose would fill that space where secret resentment hid, and my life would be an even greater vessel for the lord. How humbling.

Thank you Victor for choosing God. Thank you for following his callings on your life, thank you for not giving up or repeating the cycle. You are here for a reason and I love you. Thank you Eileen for loving Victor through the darkness and into the light. I know your love and steadfastness allowed him to truly sift through the broken parts. You are an example of a godly wife and I love you.

To all the brave men and women who partner with Victors ministry to bring hope and healing into the world, thank you. You are literally the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus here on earth. Thank you for your gift. I love you.

For the warriors who lost their lives protecting others, you are true hero’s. I love you and I cannot wait to see your smiling face in heaven one day. Thank you for your beautiful heart and eternal sacrifice.

To the therapist who shared resources and love. You are leading people to Jesus and lives are transforming. Thank you for knowing God and for speaking light into darkness. You are a hero and I love you.

To the readers of this book, I love you. Your life is valuable, full of meaning, and capable of improving always. No past is too final, future uncertain, and present messy to truly find peace, healing, and fulfillment. I believe in you and know this book has the power to bring you on step closer to living a life you love.

Read this for family book club. Terribly written and in desperate need of an editor. Loaded with endless piles of demonstrably untrue black-and-white beliefs surrounding incredibly complex topics like trauma, mental health, spirituality, etc. He’s entitled to his beliefs, I do not share them. For one example (of which there are many), he equates gay people to pedophiles, addicts, and murderers. In other words, I am not the target audience for his parochial pontifications. However, many of the Christian values surrounding loving your neighbor and forgiving those who harm you (of which he does so proactively), I profoundly agree with and admire.

I do not hate the man or resent him. He has endured many inexcusable hardships that no child should ever have to endure. It seems that he has found some semblance of peace and healing for himself, and that is well deserved.

The Victor Marx Story, is as can be inferred from the title is the story of Victor Marx’s unbelievable life. From it’s rocky beginnings, to the way God worked to turn his life around. It's no great work of literature or fantastic story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, but it is a genuinely good book about the things that Victor experienced throughout his life, along with the hope that was provided by God. He went through all kinds of horrors as a child, abused by his most of his multiple fathers, and molested about 3 times. As a young adult, doing drugs, getting drunk, and other things I shouldn’t mention. Eventually he fell out of all that and put his talents to good use. People who I think would particularly like this book would be individuals looking for one of the many examples out there of people who came to Christ in a remarkable way.

for me this book is 5 stars but 1 star off because i almost didn't even pick it up-the cover is not inviting to me and the font on the cover and in the whole books is crazy or maybe that's just my autism freaking me out and then there are bible verses on the sides of each page that i know were there to help people but i stopped reading them because i was just really enjoying reading about his life-i love the honesty and i have lived in so. cal. since mid 80's so know of most of the people in this area he's talking about-what an amazing life-i am also a christain-clean & sober 36 yrs. by the Grace of God and i found myslef asking God to talk to me as clearly as he talks to Victor

Victor has a great story and I was rooting for him as he led us through a hard upbringing which left him with pain and anger and then turned his life into something positive. There wasn't much to the writing. Everything was told briefly and moved on quickly without a lot of detail which made it hard to feel what he was feeling as he went through his experiences. I suspect he is more engaging in person but I still felt it was an inspirational story worth reading regardless.

This is the best book I have read this year. I would recommend it to everyone! Victor Marx has gone through just about every tragedy a person could go through and he has overcome all that negativity through his faith in Christ Jesus. His story gives hope to all who have been through traumatic events. This is a must read for anyone suffering with post-traumatic stress.
