A lover's tiff. A haunted video game. Lions rampaging through the town's streets. A cure for zombies. All this and more in the fifth book by Ants Ambridge. Written with a sardonic sense of humour, with touches of heart-wrenching sentimentality, the stories within guarantee to make you laugh, possibly cry, and screw your face in distaste. This collection of short stories has a little something for everyone. Except kids. It isn't suitable for them.
This is a far cry from what the title perhaps indicates. Tab ends are the remnants of cigarettes, the part often cast aside, perhaps assumed to be less important or of little interest. This is also a far cry from the kind of book I like to read.
Ants Ambridge is clearly a gifted writer. His fluid style makes his stories flow and engage. He is gifted in being able to describe situations and in a quite alarming manner give insight into the characters he writes about....insight including how it feels for young adult males to have sexual yearnings and have to deal with them.
Tab Ends contains a variety of very well written short stories. None being weaker than any other. All sit together giving the reader honest accounts. Nothing is held back.
I admit this was not a comfortable read for me. As I have said, a far cry from the kind of book I enjoy reading. The raw language used may not suit everyone, but if you can see beyond this, then you will experience much that you would not experience any other way....what it truly is to look at the world through the eyes of someone else....
A consistently great author whose stories always get me laughing out loud. This collection of short stories is definitely worth a read, just beware of reading them on the tube or your snorts of laughter may get a few funny looks from fellow commuters.
An awesome collection of short stories put together by this author. They had me laughing and some left me shocked but in a comical way. Well done Ants on another amazing collection of short stories
