Troy Turner is a writer living alone in a secluded cabin in the Rocky Mountains. He thought the small, peaceful valley miles away from the busy resort town of Hawthorn would be the perfect setting for his work. He invites two of his closest friends to stay a few weeks to do some hunting in the rugged and remote area. After their arrival, Troy gives them a tour around the property and plans are made to get an early start the next day. Morning arrives quickly and the eager hunters head out to their tree stands to settle in for a long hunt. Soon, an unexpected storm front moves in, and they are forced off the mountain. As they begin making their way down, they are suddenly and viciously attacked by a beast they can't believe is real.
Separated from the others, badly injured and desperate to escape, Troy attempts to go for help. The winter storm makes the drive down the mountain road extremely treacherous and with his injuries making it more difficult, he loses control and wrecks his Jeep. He is found unconscious by a snow plow driver and wakes up days later in a hospital bed. Troy tells the unbelievable and horrifying story of the cryptid encounter on the mountain and desperately pleads for help for the friends he was forced to leave behind.
Believing it to be a sensationalized story geared at publicity, the sheriff all but dismisses Troy's unbelievable claims, but when a search uncovers the body of one of the men and the other one missing, Troy becomes the prime suspect. How can he prove his innocence when the real killer isn't supposed to exist?
Excellent read. Could not put the book down because the author Story moving. The book is written in a manner that it is very believable that Bigfoot exists .
This an extremely well written book that is very entertaining. From the first word to the last it will keep you turning the page to find out what will happen next.
The book is a very good read and kept me reading non stop. I like how the writer laid the plot out as these were not savage creatures, but creatures protecting their land.
I chose a 5 star rating because I never noticed anything about the book I didn't like. I had not read a novel in a long time, and this was the perfect pick to get back into reading novels. The character building and scene detail is just right. It's not so much that it gets boring or over done, but it's plenty to identify with the characters and see the story clearly in the imagination. And boy did it get intense. Gonna be awhile before I do any camping. Anyone who appreciates the outdoors and a scary creature story will love this book.
Great time reading this story. Buckner writes excitement into every page. It was also refreshing to read a story involving hunting and fire arms that was not full of miss information. Usually these type books are written from an anti hunter perspective. This anti perspective usually ruins an otherwise good read. Thanks Mr. Buckner
The best story about Bigfoot that I have ever read..Lots of action with fighting at least 8- 9 of them ... Main character , Troy, buys a beautiful cabin in the woods away from everything...He then invites 2 of his friends up for hunting and this is where it begins...Have fun reading this book, I know I couldn't put it down until I finished...

Synopsis:
Troy Turner is a writer looking to enjoy a peaceful life in his lakeside cabin. He is an hour’s drive from the Rocky Mountain town of Hawthorn. Hawthorn is a ski resort town. This is a dream home for him. Nestled in a forested valley, it offers great fishing and hunting. Troy invites his old college buddies, Craig and Phil, to spend few weeks.
The beauty of the Rocky Mountains can lull people into a false sense of security. Troy, Craig, and Phil are attacked by something big and powerful. Troy ends up in unconscious in a hospital bed. Upon recovering, he tells an unbelievable story of being attacked by the mythical Sasquatch. The sheriff dismisses the story, and Troy ends up in jail for murder.
After Troy is released on bail, the sheriff begins to think there is more going on than meets the eye. Troy, the sheriff, and some unlikely allies find themselves under siege.
Review:
I must admit a guilty pleasure. I am fascinated by stories of Sasquatch and its various cousins. These are creatures of terrifying strength and a remarkable cunning. Assuming, of course, that the tales are true, which many people still doubt.
Be that as it may, Siege at Hawthorn Lake is a tale of man (and a few women) against a force of nature that is not happy. Troy Turner has bought a cabin in the middle of the wilderness. (I’m already jealous.) There is a lake for fishing. During hunting season, this is an ideal location for deer of various types. There are incidents. The occasional thrown rock, or upright figure darting out of sight. Troy invites two friends up for a few weeks of hunting. That’s when things start to happen. The story quickly becomes and an action-packed page-turner.
Wasn't quite sure of this book, story began slow but improved and was very interesting. It actually had excellent plot after initial setup. I recommend this for anyone looking for something a little different .
This is a well written story of a Bigfoot attack that shows the different personality aspects that has been documented by Bigfoot researchers. Some family groups tend to be very quiet and shy while other groups are highly aggressive and will attack and not relent until they feel their hunting ground and nesting areas are secured. Usually the shy Bigfoot is what most encounters tend to be but this story shows just how intelligent these large bipedal apes are and that they are well adapted to staying out of sight. Great story all in all but could certainly use a good proof reader as most of the dialogue was from men who use the word "yeah" constantly and it was misspelled throughout the whole book as "yea" so you never knew if someone was cheering or agreeing. Sloppy editing.
During the summers, as I was growing up, we spent time at our cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I learned to fish and track the animals. Reading this book I was back sleeping on our outdoor porch listening to the sounds of the night. I know I heard sounds that were not deer, or bear. (Or my cousin's trying to scare us) I snuggled down in my sleeping bag and kept still and hoped it would go away. As I got older and had a family of my own, we spent time at "The Cabin" and we told stories about our adventures. None as scary as this. This is good read for twelve and up for something other than video games. (We are now going into our grandchildren going up to the cabin this summer, maybe they'll hear from Sasquach.)
I really like this book. I seriously couldn't put it down and finished it in two days. That may not seem fast to some but that's fast for me.
I won't give any spoilers away like I've seen some do, but the story line and plot was great. I think they should adapt it to a movie. I really like the way the author treated the Native American angle. It wasn't too over the top. The story had really good characters and I really rooted for them in the end which I thought the ending was pretty good. I'll definitely buy the next book that the author puts out.
Troy Turner buys a cabin in the Rocky Mountains and invites his two life long friends to come up and hunt for a couple of weeks. Soon they find themselves being hunted by a clan of bigfoots. Troy makes it back to town alone and in bad shape. When one of his friends is found beaten to death and the other can not be found he is held for murder. As bigfoot stories go this wasn't to bad. I gave it a four star.
This is a really good book. The author has done an excellent job of wordcrafting a fast moving story with well developed characters. The plot moves fast, the enemy is smart, and the good guys don't always win. I highly recommend this fine book to everyone!
Overall I thought this book was good. There was action and some suspense. There was a a mix up where two friends last names were confused. The writing was pretty good. I will look for more titles from this author.
There were times the story seemed to drag a little but the action more than made up for it. I can't say the characters always made the right decisions but I guess it is plausible that someone would make such decisions if they were super confident in their abilities - which these men were.
Interesting Bigfoot story with characters I enjoyed and cared about. They all had backstories which gave them more depth and made them likeable.
I am not sure I will read the next Hawthorn Lake book as I liked how this one ended and we all know how I feel about series. I love stand alone books - the longer an author goes with a certain character, the more the read feels repetitive and harder to wade through.
My first read by this author and probably not my last. Good job!
A very enjoyably quick read, could not put it down. Read it to the early morning hours. Great characters in a really messed up situation. I like this author and will read the next Siege novel. Seems I’m reading a lot of Big Foot novels lately, this was the best of the bunch!
This book was the best I’ve read in a long time! I will be recommending it to everyone! I’ve been looking for a great fireside read and this one covers all the bases. The characters are well developed and very likable. It’s non-stop excitement! I highly recommend this book!
Great read. Very wordy which made it busy. Many great authors from the past where the same way; Charles Dickens, J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis to name a few. The first half was long to get through but the second half picked the energy and I couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to the next book.
Excellent read, both books. Lots of mystery and intrigue and the ending was not cut short as other authors do when they’re not sure how to end a story. Look forward to reading more from this author.
This book was OK, the writing style was adequate but it was pretty exciting. Set in the mountains, maybe Colorado, three friends set out hunting and meet up with some mysterious creatures. Mayhem ensues.
