Manhattan is a stand-alone, small town, country romance in the Becker Brothers Series.

Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend.

But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.

He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar.

And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.

Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.

Until it was the worst.

I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.

One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.

One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.

And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

It's no secret I love Kandi Steiner's books and I was so excited to read the third book in her 'Becker Brother's' series, Mahnattan. This is a fantastic friends to lovers romance that I adored. These books take place in a small town in Tennessee and I love the small town vibe they have.

Mikey Becker and Kylie Nelson have been best friends since they were eight years old. That same year, Mikey lost his father and Kylie lost her mother and they've had an unbreakable bond. As the years went by, they only got closer. Kylie has had a crush on her best friend for as long as she can remember, but things changed when he started dating a girl named Bailey. Mikey changed. Now, he and Bailey are over and he's completely morose. Kylie is determined to get him out of this funk he's in and show him all the great things their town has to offer. Thing's he's always loved before.

Kylie's list to help Michael embrace the town again was great. I loved watching their adventures and seeing Michael come back to himself. Watching him see Kylie in a new light was one of the best things about this book.
“I’ve been waiting my whole life for you to kiss me, Michael Becker,”

As much as I loved Mikey Becker (Logan is still my #1... probably my favorite book boyfriend of 2019), Kylie really stole the show for me. She was relate-able in so many ways and I loved how she never gave up on the people she cared about and had such a huge heart. She was truly selfless and just an incredible human being. I also loved the relationship that both Mikey and Kylie had with their parent. It was so sweet.

Most of this book kept a huge smile on my face. I loved this couple and I love this family. Aside from wanting to clobber Mikey a time or two, I really did enjoy this story so much. I can't wait to read the final story in this series because Jordan has always intrigued me and I'm looking forward to tying up that suspenseful story line that's been carried over from book to book.

If you're looking for a gorgeous friends to lovers/small town romance that's sweet, steamy, fun, and has great familial elements, pick up Manhattan.

AND NOW, an exclusive Goodreads sneak peek!

Betty started cleaning up the dishes off the table, and when she stood, Jordan wiped his mouth with his napkin and placed it on the table before extending his hand for his mom’s. “Well, I think it’s about that time.”

Lorelei smiled, slipping her hand into his, and Logan crossed to the stereo in the living room, turning on a song I’d heard dozens and dozens of times inside those walls.

“Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton.

It was the song Lorelei and John had danced to at their wedding so many years ago, the song he used to dance with her to every night after dinner, and a song that the Becker brothers still danced with her to in his place.

Jordan was already swaying softly with his tiny mother in his arms, and Logan pulled Mallory onto the dance floor, too, giving her a spin that made her laugh nervously as she gripped onto him like she would fall if he stepped too far away. She clearly was not a dancer, and my heart swelled when Logan leaned into her and whispered, “I got you.”

Noah and Ruby Grace were next, and they fell into a beautiful waltz, showing those dance skills that they both had. Betty leaned against the door frame of the kitchen with a smile, watching the three couples in the living room along with us.

“Why don’t you two get out there?” she said, nodding at us.

I flushed so hard I thought lava would burst out of my eyeballs, and Betty narrowed her eyes at me like I’d just exposed all my deepest secrets to her.

Like that I was completely in love with the boy she just casually recommended I should dance with.

“Oh, no,” I said, shaking my head with a nervous smile. “We don’t… We aren’t…”

“Pshhh.” Betty waved her hands in the air before she shooed us toward the floor. “You don’t have to be married to dance. Go on, now. Get.”

My nervous laughter turned into something close to a goose call, but everything stopped altogether when Michael grabbed my hand, leaning in to whisper by my ear. “We better dance before that old woman smacks us both upside the head.”

“I heard that,” she warned, shoving us forward now that we were standing. “I may be old, but you’re damn straight I could still whoop your butt.”

We both laughed, though my laugh was strangled with my hand in his like that. It wasn’t like he hadn’t ever grabbed my hand before. It wasn’t like that electricity I felt pulsing through his palm to mine wasn’t the same thing I’d felt since we were eight years old. But feeling him drag me toward the dance floor, falling into step next to his brothers and their loved ones, next to his mother, it was too much.

Because it felt natural.

Because it felt like I was already family, like I belonged… like we belonged, together.

Because I knew dancing with me didn’t mean anything to Michael.

And because I hated that it meant everything to me.

Michael smirked a little as he pulled me into his arms, and I aimed for completely cool and calm as I threaded my own around his neck, stepping in time with him. It was just a simple two-step sway, but then he grabbed one of my hands, twirled me out to the center of the dance floor, and spun my hips fast so that I twirled twice more before landing back into his arms.

“Show off,” Logan murmured as their mother laughed with delight.

I shook my head, breathless and a little wobbly after that stunt. “Good thing you were here to catch me, otherwise I’d be on the floor right now.”

“I’m always here to catch you,” he teased with a wink.

My chest ached.

“So,” he said, tugging on a strand of my long hair. “What’s first on that list of yours.”

“That’s for me to know and you to find out.”

“Oh, keeping secrets now? I should have studied that notebook harder when I had the chance.”

“This will make it even more fun,” I pointed out. “It’ll be like you’re a secret agent, never knowing when the next mission is going to come or what it’s going to be.”

“Speaking of missions,” he said, glancing at his mom before he lowered his voice even more. “Any luck on the…”

He didn’t have to finish the sentence — the hope in his eyes told me all I needed to know about what he was asking.

I gently shook my head, hating that I didn’t have better news. “Not yet. But, it’s not hopeless.”

Michael deflated, but forced a small smile and a nod.

That urge to get home and work on the hard drive struck again, this time as hot as lightning.

Mikey watched his mom dancing with his oldest brother, and a softness came over him that was rare nowadays. I couldn’t help but stare at him as he stared at them, noting the strong set of his jaw, the slope of his nose, the flecks of gold in his eyes. He was stuck between a boy and a man, still that eight-year-old boy I fell in love with, and yet somehow, a man I didn’t know at all, too.

He sighed the longer he watched them, and the next time he spoke, it was three words that turned my stomach and stole my breath.

“I miss her.”

I didn’t have to ask who her was. I knew it, he knew it, we all knew it.

I swallowed down the pain I couldn’t let him see, leaning in to rest my head on his chest, instead. “I know,” I offered softly, squeezing him a little tighter. “I’m here.”

He nodded, squeezing me back, and I thought about my list, about the promise he’d made me, about the one last shot I had to shoot. I thought about all the years I’d kept silent, about the years I’d stepped back and let him love another, never telling him how I felt.

I wondered how much longer I could keep quiet.

I wondered what would happen if I ever spoke the words out loud.

And on the drive home, I prayed to God that I wouldn’t completely shatter my heart in an attempt to keep that boy in my life.

but where can i get myself a Becker brother because they're all just oof-

sooo yeah, the Becker brother left me swooning... again (not as much as the first two books tho because Mikey got on my nerves).

this was really sweet and short and to be honest, i was a little iffy because from the previous books, i knew Mikey (H) had a gf and he was extremely in love with her. in fact, he was so in love with her that he lost a "piece of himself" for a whole ass year.

he lost his love for everything. his job, music, his fucking guitar that his dad gave him!

and, yes, he was hung up on Bailey (OW/ex) almost till the end aaand i didn't like that.

i mean, he would say things like this:

"Bailey was my high school sweetheart, but I'd never classified her as that. I'd always seen her as my everything. She wasn't just high school. She was college, and first job, and marriage, and first house, and four kids of our own."

or this:

Bailey still had her hooks in me.
And even at the risk of hurting Kylie, I needed to see her.

this just went on and on and on and i was just like

like shhh, Mikey. just shhh.

yeah... he was an I D I O T (sometimes). he learned his lessons too little too late and i kinda didn't like how his mom basically told him that he should grovel. i know that was a sweet moment between mother and son but when it comes to the h hung up on ex trope, i prefer it when the H ignores the h's rejections and grovels without anyone telling him to. because his mom telling him that he should honestly just showed that he gave up on Kylie when WE KNOW he begged and pined for his ex *eyeroll* .

but then there's also Kylie's own heartbreak:

"I've been waiting my whole life for you to kiss me, Michael Becker," I said, voice trembling and hoarse... "How dare you do it when you're thinking about her."

don't worry guys he wasn't thinking about her but her heartbreak tho!! anyways, imma give y'all just one more:

"I watched the boy I'd loved my whole life fall in love with someone else, and I'd somehow smiled through it all."

i just-

and i felt for her! i can't imagine feeling her pain, seeing the man you love fall in love with someone else and basically choose their relationship over your FRIENDSHIP? UGH MY HEART!!!

i really did like this but i don't know... it just felt so incomplete and rushed? i wanted to see more Kylie and Mikey as an actual couple and i feel that Mikey's love for Kylie is nothing compared to how she feels for him. i needed to see more balance when it comes to that. AND i just needed more grovelling.

but anyways, i can't wait for my bb Jordan's book!

The blissful optimism of youth, the rosy eyed dreams of naive young'uns and the bonds of pinky promises stronger than steel...it's all explored with tender details by Kandi in this slow burn romance about the youngest Becker Brother. He's a fledgeling birdie ready to dive off into the real world from his love cushioned nest home. None of his family or friends are too happy about it but Michael Becker sees the horizon from his tiny hamlet of hometown- Stratford, and he wants to soar and touch it. His aspirational success awaits for him in NYC.
And there's his waifish childhood bestie- "Smiley" Kylie Nelson whose mission now is to top him from leaving HER!!

description

"I fell in love with Michael Becker at the ripe old age of eight years old. I've been in the proverbial land known as “The Friend Zone.” But, it was true. I fell for that kid like a penny off the Empire State Building—fast and silently and unbeknownst to anyone other than the poor concrete that I hit and dented when I crashed to the ground.

description

She feels helpless in her endeavor cause all she has is her unrequited love, her aching heart and immense stars for their hopeful future in her eyes.
Relentless Love believes they can wrestle the world by merely heart power, surmount mountains on sheer love adrenaline and that's what makes Ky go mudding, lake diving, Line dancing, water towers climbing, all to show him what matters the most. she wants to nurse his broken heart with her soft healing hands

description

“You’re letting that girl drive you out of this town, out of the places you love most, away from the people who you love most. And I’m trying to show you why that’s a mistake.”
But her endeavor to win his heart is filled with moats of tears, thorns of agony and rivers of anguish
It's such a thoughtful, subtle story. It's almost like touching a petal, smelling a flower, watching the full moon, hearing distant muted music.

description

Nuanced and heavenly, Kandi manages to touch my heart as soft as one touches the strings of a guitar and plays a Melancholic, pining melody.
4.5 cheers for Intoxicating love

oh sweet heavens im in love, im in lovvveee!! i feel like it's spring and the flowers in my heart are all blooming. can you feel me??

this is the BEST childhood best friends to lovers book ever, i kid you not. this book albeit short is brimming with cute and sweet moments, awkward but not uncomfortable friendship talks, awesome country life adventures, heartwarming family gatherings, hot slow burn and passion filled summer romance, and all spiced up with a dash of mystery.

one thing that probably should bother me but didnt (thus the rating) is: the timing. at first i did think that it was too soon for mikey to fall in love again after the break up with his ex whom he loved for two years. however, somehow this author managed to convince me of his and kylie's love in under 300 pages.

we get to see how his feelings gradually changed from being heartbroken to him healing and moving on, how he finally sees kylie from a different light and falls in love with her. everything worked out for the better and i believed in the process. im glad with how this book turned out and i think the author did a great job with it.

#2 Neat – 3.5 stars
#3 Manhatten – 2.5 stars
#4 Old Fashioned – 3.5 stars

UNPOPULAR OPINION:

I knew going into this book that I wouldn't like it too much, cause it has the childhood best friends to lovers trope which I personally detest. There are a few expection to that rule but Mikey and Kylie are not one of them.

I feel asleep like 3 times reading Manhatten, once during the night and two times during the day. That's like the result from being tired but the book being super boring aswell. Sorry, I just don't care that Mikey and Kylie went mudding or line dancing. Was it cute? For others sure, but I was like 'whatever I don't really care'.

Manhatten, despite that above mentioned trope had the potential to be a solid 3 stars read, but Mikey dude had to be super annoying and hangup on his ex-girlfriend Bailey. Her name was mentioned at least over 100 times. The unrequired love trope is chef's kiss, but not if the other girl is getting shoved down my throat at every turn.

I couldn't stop rolling my eyes every time Bailey's song came on the radio and Mikey had like THE BIGGEST panic attact. Every single thing in that song triggered him. Oh how they wrote that song together, oh how the song is about him, oh how she was the music in his life and now his life is so stale and colorless. Dude, I just can't. You have a girl who is in love with you since she is eight years old right there! IDOT IDOT I-D-I-O-T.

Another aspect I really disliked is the fact that when Bailey called Mikey leaves everything. Mikey grew up with Kylie. They spent all the holidays together, they are each other best friends and then when he got together with Bailey in highschool he threw their whole friendship away. He just threw Kylie away like trash. Honestly, Kylie deserved better. Bailey had him wrapped around her finger that with when she told him she didn't want Kylie around him, he agreed. So years of friendship don't mean anything? Is that what I suppose to get from that?
Same thing when Bailey came back and wanted to meet Mikey. Bro, please get out of my face.

Let's not forget the fact that Mikey didn't do anything to win Kylie back after their fight over Bailey when said girl came back. Mikey just gave up, cause "he knows when to fight and when to leave it". You were relentless when it came to Bailey but one fight with Kylie and her telling him that he should leave her alone once and that's what homeboy is doing. Mikey was sulking at home until Mama Becker told him what to do. Like I looove the tight bond between the Becker family and how Mama Becker gives each of her kids advice, but for once I wanted Mikey to get his ass out of the gutter on his own.

The groveling part itself was good! The idea that Mikey came up with was creative and perfect. I loved how much effort he put into it and it was executed perfectly. One of my highlights.

The Becker family and other side characters, especially Betty, were great. It's always nice to get some breadcrumbs from the other couples and what they've been up to.

* * * * Spoiler Free-Suprise Sale $1.99!!!
Kandi Steiner has become an author now I anticipate new books with a smile on my face. Her Becker Brothers series has been a delight for me. She has created a family devoted to each other and brothers, each unique and special. Manhattan focuses on Michael, a young man who has been nursing a broken heart.

Michael thought his life was set.
He fell hard for the girl who had music in her sights. Together they were The Couple in high school. They planned to go to Nashville and have the career take off for his gal. But his gal didn't seem to be on the same page, going off to Nashville without him. Devastated, Michael feels as if everything is the same...gets up, deals with the day, goes through it and then goes to sleep only to do it all again.

After moping around and being asked if he is ok is enough, Michael comes to the conclusion, there is nothing at home for him. He will make a change...

He will move to Manhattan.

His family is shocked and no one is more freaked then his best friend since forever, Kylie.

You see, Kylie has been in love with Michael...FOREVER. She has been there with him and him with her during all of the big moments. She has held back and when he fell for the singer, she had to step aside and wait some more.

But when she was left, Kylie thought Michael would work through it and then be able to see she was the one for him. But for Michael to go to Manhattan after the summer...pushes Kylie to come up with a plan to show Michael how wonderful his home is...not the keeper of pain from lost love.

As Kylie takes Michael to all the favorite places from their past times, feelings get a little confusing for Michael. He starts to see Kylie as a real woman, feelings develop and then there is the realization of what is really at stake.

This is a best friend love story and these two have hurdles to deal with. It is the necessary understanding by Michael of where his heart is and how to express it to Kylie.

Kandi Steiner has been on a roll and I will continue to look for more.

Kylie and Mikey have seen each other through their hardest times in life, as well as the best. They shared everything with one another and were as close as friends could possibly be. Except the one secret that Kylie has, that she's in love with Mikey. But now he wants to move away and Kylie doesn't want to lose her chance to finally tell him how she feels. So she sets up a whole summer of adventures to get Mikey to see what he's been missing all these years.

I loved these two and they were definitely friendship goals. They had such a fun relationship, even when there was some tension between them when they disagreed about Mikey moving you could still see that they cared for each other. Those disagreements also added some angst that I loved, which I'm usually not a big fan of a lot of angst in my books, but with Mikey and Kylie it was that kind of angst that also adds some sexual tension that gets me captivated. It made for a really intriguing story and one that I loved reading.

Overall, this is a brilliant story and it's definitely recommended. You could read it as a standalone with no problem but there is an underlying story that is started in the previous books so I would say to read those first if you're someone that needs all the little details.

Now I know why so many good reviews on this book. With a last Becker brother left outstanding, the story of Michael and Kylie hits every spot for NA romance book. It is a story of coming to age and remembering your root. There is not much given from the story of their childhood time. The author is more focus on the small town vibes and how Kylie always be there for Michael.

I do not like final conflict toward the end where both Michael and Kylie acting immature and causing their brief separation. I thought that part can be done more dramatic and a bit more adult. But Miss Steiner redeems it all with the closing of the story, where Michael grovels back to Kylie. I thought it is well fitting for the NA audience.

Overall this is a good story. It keeps my attention until the end.

I am trash for Kandi Steiner's writing. Every new book, I utterly devour the story and am always left wanting more. I have loved the first two books in the Becker Brothers series and couldn't wait to return to this small town!

When we started this book, I was surprised that it was going to take place during the summer after Mikey and Kylie graduated from high school. The other two books are definitiely adult romances, so this was new for this series. Kylie has always loved Mikey (thought he never knew because they were just best friends) and it was so sad seeing how hurt she was that Mikey pretty much dropped her when he was dating Bailey for two years. I loved the plot of Kylie showing Mikey how amazing their their town was so that he wouldn't leave at the end of the summer. Their little adventures were adorable and I loved the fun little things, especially the mudding!

While I do love a good friends to lovers romance, I felt like this one turned out a little too predictably pertaining to a certain character. I called a certain plot point about 20% in and was disappointed when I was right. Also, I really loved how Kylie was dedicated to honoring her mother's memory by taking a gap year, but I didn't really like how she changed her plans at the end because of Mikey. I wish she stayed true to her plans and really discovered herself the way she had planned to. I do think I'm being more picky because that's how I typically read new adult books. It's harder for me to connect with teenagers trying to find their place in the world, so I judge their decisions and actions more than normal.

Overall, this was an adorable romance in the Becker brother world. I do think Mikey is my least favorite brother so far, so that might be why I didn't love this book as much of the others. But I am DYING for Jordan's books and can't wait to see how this series ends!

- Love is Painful -

Mikey decides he wants to leave his hometown of Stratford, Tennessee to move to Manhattan. He is dealing with a broken heart as well as the constant pain that comes with losing a parent and feels he needs to break free and leave his old life behind. He was broody, stubborn, he was an idiot at times and very frustrating but he was also sweet, funny, caring, respectful and passionate

Kylie watched as her best friend Mikey, the boy she has been in love with since she was a kid, fall in love with someone else and then watched him have his heart broken and left raw and wanting to escape so she decides to come up with a plan for the summer to show him all the things in their town that make up the reasons why he should stay. She was also dealing with painful memories of losing a parent while wanting to honor those memories anyway she can. She was smart, strong, compassionate, kind hearted, loyal, hopeful and the true definition of what is means to be a friend

- Love is Beautiful -

Watching Mikey wake up to what has been in front of him the whole time and find his joy for life again was beautiful to watch, Kylie had such a beautiful and kind soul, always looking out for the people in her life as well as strangers. There's not a person in this world who wouldn't fall in love with her

- Love is Freeing -

This story shows you, you can let go of the pain that holds you back in life and break free, to follow your dreams and passions wherever they may take you, to fall freely in love and hold on to it no matter what and be free to take all the adventures life throws in your path

Mikey and Kylie I adore you and I adore this book. I knew it was gonna be a tear jerker before I even started and I lost count of the amount of times I cried but I loved it with all my heart. Also shout out to Betty, gosh I love her 😍

GAH! This book... It's refreshing. It's sweet. It's sexy and absolutely swoon worthy. It transports you back in time to the youthful days of first crushes, first kisses, first loves. It reminds us of that one special boy who caused the butterflies to take flight. The one who made you smile, made you laugh and made your heart soar. This friends-to-lover's romance was pure perfection. Kandi Steiner has a way of bringing out any and all emotions that you can feel.

Kylie and Michael are both eighteen and have been best friends pretty much their whole lives. And unbeknownst to Michael, she has been in love with him since she was eight. For years now, she has sat by silently while longing for more. But Michael is completely consumed with Bailey, and therefore, blind to Kylie's love. When Bailey breaks his heart, Kylie is there to help him pick up the pieces. She is kind and compassionate as she tries to help heal his broken heart.

I absolutely fell head over heels for Kylie and Michael. I loved watching their friendship blossom into something so much more. Their journey was both beautiful and magical. I beyond words loved their story! Kandi Steiner delivered a perfectly, amazing, heartachingly, beautiful story. All of the stars and more for Manhattan and Kandi Steiner!

Manhattan burns slow, like a long pull of single malt. When you mix in friends to lovers, this small town romance will leave you with a heady, satisfied sigh. Five stars!

3.5-4 ⭐'s

We finally get to Michael's story and what I was hoping for was some answers. Unfortunately, we're going to get tortured for a bit longer.

Michael's been going through the worse of heartaches and luckily, his most forgiving best friend, Kylie, has not given up on him. She's been doing everything she can think of to get him back to living life again.

Of course, she's been in love with him forever so it's not hard to see why. After graduation, when Michael announces his plans to move to Manhattan, Kylie comes up with a plan to make him see how much he loves his life here.

There were some things that bothered me about these two. I didn't like how Michael basically abandoned Kylie during his TWO year relationship with Bailey. Also, I didn't feel like his awakening to his "true" feelings was real enough...it seemed more convenient. Kylie was too much of a pushover even though she did -finally- stand up for herself but again, maybe that was a little too aggressively.

Like I said at the beginning, I was really hoping to finally get some answers to the ongoing saga between the families BUT now we have to wait for Jordan's book. Old Fashioned is coming out March 19, 2020.

Manhattan, Mikey’s story and the youngest Becker brother, is the third book in the Becker Brothers series. To say that this book was one of my most anticipated reads would be an understatement. I’ve desperately wanted Mikey’s book even before I was finished reading the first book in the series, On the Rocks. And it was well worth the wait, so much more than I could’ve thought possible, and everything I didn’t know I needed.

Mikey Becker stole my heart and I don’t want it back. If there’s one thing that I can appreciate is for a man to show emotion and be vulnerable—and Mikey has no problem showing his feelings. He’s going through heartache and because of that his emotions are raw and are felt deeply. He wasn’t afraid to open up, especially to his best friend Kylie. I loved his character so much. I loved his sensitive side and the love he had for his mom. I loved his relationship with his brothers and how tight-knit they are. And I especially loved the irreplaceable friendship he had with Kylie. All those things shaped Mikey into the incredible man he is.

Kylie was a character with a heart of gold. She’s loving, selfless and would go out of her way to help any person. She put everyone and everything above herself without batting an eye. She’s made up of smiles, sunshine, and love that’s wrapped in a beautiful soul. It isn’t hard to be swept up in Kylie’s orbit, it’s done so effortlessly. She was such a beautiful and amazingly written character.

Kylie and Mikey share a very special connection. Since that very first day on the playground when they first met—their friendship began and have been inseparable. But along the way they started drifting apart (Mikey’s doing) and spent less time together. They used to be thick as thieves and now they barely see each other. Kylie’s had enough though and she’ll do anything to help her best friend heal from his broken heart and make him smile again. She’s there to help him and be the friend she’s always been to him. I can’t say enough how much I loved Kylie and Mikey’s friendship. It was so pure, real and just everything. And when Mikey finally opened his eyes to see Kylie more than just as a friend was just the icing on the cake. I loved these two so so much just as much as I loved their friendship and their romance.

Manhattan was filled with sweet and touching moments. It brought all the feels and the emotional aspect. This story was more than two friends falling in love. It was about two young people trying to figure out what’s next in this journey that’s called life. It’s about learning who they are and living in the moment. It’s about taking chances even though you might be scared and knowing that in the end it’ll all be ok and so worth taking the risks.

I. Loved. This. Book. Hands down my favorite in this series. I loved and lived for Mikey and Kylie’s story. I also loved catching up with the Becker family and all the Becker brothers. This series is definitely becoming a favorite of mine. Manhattan was another incredible addition to an already addicting series. I can’t wait for Jordan’s story. Until then I’ll be waiting on pins and needles. I neeeeeeed!

Definitely recommend

Kylie’s been in love with her best friend, Mikey, since they were 8-years old. Over the years, the remained in the friend zone, watching while Mikey dated, fell in love, and got his heartbroken. Now 10-years later after their high school graduation, Mikey announces he’s moving to New York City at the end of the summer, leaving his family, Stratford and most importantly, Kylie, behind. And Kylie never got to tell Mikey how in love with him she is, or how she’s been waiting years to feel his kiss.

Mikey has had Kylie by his side for as long as he can remember. When Mikey started dating Bailey his sophomore year, he thought they were forever. But in the fall of his senior year, Bailey moved to Nashville to pursue her music career, leaving Mikey behind heartbroken. Over the two years that Bailey and Mikey dated, Mikey kept Kylie at arm’s length. And as soon as they broke up, Kylie was there for him and their tight-knit friendship resumed.

Kylie doesn’t want to lose her best friend and the guy she’s been secretly in love with all these years. So she creates a list of adventures for Mikey and her to complete that summer. A list of adventures to remind Mikey just what he loves about their small southern town of Stratford, and possibly what he loves about Kylie, too. Mikey never saw Kylie as more than one of the guys, but the summer after graduation, he sees her in a whole new light. And even though he’s heartbroken over Bailey, Mikey thinks just maybe he could open his heart to his very best friend.

Manhattan by Kandi Steiner is book 3 in the Becker Brothers series. Kandi Steiner has won my heart with Mikey and Kylie’s story. Kylie’s love for Mikey is pure and heartfelt and also quite torturous. I enjoyed watching their love story unfold, as I’m a sucker for friends to lovers romances. At times I wanted to smack some sense into Mikey, but he definitely turned it around by the end. This might be my favorite of the series yet! 4.5/5 stars.

Thanks to Social Butterfly PR & Kandi Steiner for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

There was a lot about this book that I enjoyed and I think for what the story was, it was done well. But I didn’t really overthink what it was really about until I was deeply in it - and as I was reading, I realized that the actual basis of the story is what was bothering me.

Michael was still heartbroken and hung up on his ex and Kylie basicly came back into his life and tried to be the perfect best friend. I liked how devoted she was to him; and the things she did to try and make him happy made the book really fun —- I also liked watching Michael slowly turn from grumpy and depressed to happy again. Plus it was fun to watch him slowly open his eyes and realize what’s been in front of him his entire life.

But what I didn’t like was that Michael was basicly still in love and not over his ex for the majority of the book… and that fact is what ended up causing a lot of drama. I also felt like Kylie was more in love with him than he was with her and I personally rather see the guy fall harder than the girl.

He also made a bunch of mistakes here and there which made me sad in the moment… but I have to give him credit for the groveling and grand gestures that he did to make up for it, because those moments were good.

So overall - I think the book was very good for exactly what it was - I just didn’t love some of the foundational aspects of it and therefore the natural way that some of the things played out kind of made me not love it a ton.

I can't get enough of the Becker brother and this series! Kandi deliveries a series filled with love, great characters and really heartwarming family moments. This story follows Michael "Mikey" and Kylie who have been best friend's for as long as they could basically remember. After a terrible break up, Michael decides he needs changes in his life and he decides that he needs to move to NYC to make a new life for himself. Kylie has always been in love with him, long before he had a new girl in his life. Now that the Ex is out of the picture and Kylie finally has her Michael back in her life, she needs him to realize how much he loves everything about home. This story was the best kind of friends to lovers romance, Kylie and Michael very absolutely perfect for each other. They both understand what it's like to lose someone very important to them, they both are extremely close to their families, they are both caring and they both have undeniable chemistry and love for each other.

Thank you so much Kandi and Social butterfly for this opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

I do love the Becker Brothers.
Ok, let's do a little twist and start by admitting one thing i didn't like. Compared to the first two books, Manhattan wasn't my favourite. It hurts me to admit that since I LOVE Kandi Steiner's books but Mickey just wasn't my favourite.

I would also like to point out that as of late, i have become extremly picly when it comes to the friends to lovers trope so it's really not the author's fault. Having said that, Kandi Steiner does what she does best and that is that she writes really good books. I will admit that Mickey and Kylie's story is sweet and is definitely romantic.

This is a slow burn romance that is built on a beautiful foundation of friendship. Even though Manhattan wasn't my favourite book in this series so far, I enjoyed reading it very much. Manhattan is truly an adorable sweet romance.

Originally, I was going to give this 4.5 stars because as much as I loved the read, the other two books in the series were my favourites. However, when I read the last page I realised that even though the others were my favourites, I still loved this read and I would still buy the hard copy of this book so that I can re-read it when I just need that good romance. And if that isn't worthy of a full 5 stars then I don't know what is.

This was a great friends to lovers romance with some complications thrown in along the way. The cast of characters that we have come to love are still solidly there with a few new ones thrown in for good measure.

I adore that all three books so far have been standalone reads but there is a theme with the father's death that runs through them all linking them and I need to know the outcome that I have been committed to since book 1!

We finished this delightful read with a tease (in the format I now know means the intro for the next for the love interest in the next book) of Jordan's book and you know I have that bad boy already downloaded! Not sure I am ready for the series to end though!

5 stars for Manhattan and a massive recommendation if you haven't picked up a Becker Brothers book to do so.

2.5ish stars and bear with me for a minute here because I have very mixed feelings about Manhatten...

If I am being 100% honest, this book just irritated me. I thought Mikey kind of sucked and Kylie (who honestly deserved better) was one of those characters that came across as "too good to be true" and therefore impossible for me to really relate to or understand. This has to be one of the weirdest "issues" I have written about in a review, but I as I have read more Kandi Steiner books, I have realized that she writes her characters with a very high level of of "self-awareness" (for lack of a better term?) that becomes very irritating to me by the end. I don't really know how to explain this, because I am sure it is a personal irritation that makes no sense to other people/sounds ridiculous, but sentences like "wrapping her arms around herself as if to shield her heart from me" just bother me by the end of the book. I wish I could better explain this but *sighs* I can't, so I'll just move on along.

I am worried that this series is just not for me. Kandi Steiner has written some of my all-time favorite romances, so I am convinced its more of a "me" issue here. The "small-town, country romance" is one I find can have the potential to become extremely corny and it has been done to an extreme throughout this series. My thing with this book is I actually really enjoyed the heartbreak and emotions that came with the "friends to lovers/loved you from afar my whole life" plot throughout the story, but I found the angst was extremely diluted by the corniness/ott nature of the "small southern town here" blinking billboard pushed throughout the story.

ANYWAYS, I feel like I am being a total grump throughout this review. I have a really bad habit of talking about the bad more than the good in my reviews, but I think it is because those are usually the more "original" thoughts I have, and what I personally look for in reviews... or maybe it is just quarantine getting to me! Regardless, this book wasn't all bad. I did enjoy the general plot and loved the "trope" this couple could be categorized in. There were parts of Mikey and Kylie I really did love, so yeah ... not all bad. But still tbd if I'll decide to pick up book 4.

Hopefully the next book I pick up brings more *love and light* to my gr page ;)

"In every single way possible, we were tied together, Kylie and I. She'd always been there for me. And I'd always been there for her."

I just love a good best friends-to-lovers romance!

Mikey and Kylie have been friends since childhood and it was so touching to read about those scenes from when they were younger, especially since they both dealt with the death of a parent at such a young age. Just like the previous two, this book provided a lot of really heartwarming scenes not only about the main couple but about the family as well. I just love reading about the Beckers and their family dynamic. There was also another thing revealed about the mystery of their father's death in this one! I'm hoping it gets resolved in Jordan's book.

MANHATTAN
● Kylie (18) & Mikey (18)
● just graduated from high school
● Mikey’s high school girlfriend broke up with him to pursue her musical career
● he wants to leave town to get away
● Kylie wants to show him all the stuff he'd miss if he left
● childhood best friends to lovers
● small-town romance

The story placed excessive focus on the ex-girlfriend, and it didn't help when she asked to see him. Kylie clearly expressed her concerns about him meeting with his ex, but unfortunately, Mikey ignored her advice. This felt inappropriate, particularly given the recent intimacy between him and Kylie. Okay, that was my mini rant.

Becker Brothers series
#1 Noah (28) & Ruby Grace (19) - On the Rocks
#2 Logan (26) & Mallory (26) - Neat
#3 Kylie (18) & Mikey (18) - Manhattan
#4 Jordan & Sydney - Old Fashioned

⭐️ 4 "A Summer to Remember" Stars ⭐️
It’s no secret that I love everything Kandi Steiner writes! Every single one of her books I’ve read is packed with so much feels! I was so excited to dive into this third novel in the Becker Brothers Series, because those men are just so amazing! Manhattan was such a sweet, beautiful romance that had me swooning over the youngest Becker brother and his adorable best friend Kylie!

After the first two books, I was so intrigued about Michael! He’s hurting months after a bad breakup with his high school sweetheart and plans to leave for New York city at the end of the summer. Kylie is determined to make him realize there’s still so many things he loves about his small town. It’s also her last chance to admit her love for him, after years of unrequited feelings. Their relationship is truly lovely and their bond unbreakable despite their hard times. Kylie is genuine, funny and a dork! I really enjoyed how much she cares for Mikey and all the cute ways she makes him live his last summer with her. Mikey slowly starts to see her with new eyes and the attraction is surely there. The slow build of their romance is gorgeous and entertaining. They certainly had me smiling and laughing at their perfect connection growing from friendship!

This novel can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend to read the first two to get better appreciate your experience (there’s an intrigue about the Becker patriarch’s death that spans over the whole series). That being said, it’s not a must. Manhattan was such an appealing novel with palpable emotions. The whole Becker clan and their interactions made this read even more enjoyable! Now, there’s just Jordan’s story left and I’m more than intrigued by the oldest Becker!

I am so sick of books where the heroine pines for the hero all her life while he gets to live his life and then she settles for second place. I just dont understand the appeal of this story and why its so popular.

You have got to be kidding me.
This is not romantic at all.

The FMC was SECOND best all through out the book. 2nd to the OW (the MMC’s ex-girlfriend who he was ready to marry and who dropped the FMC after the OW said that she wants her far from them). She was 2nd place to his dreams, wherein he was all the fuck ready to give it up for the OW. She was 2nd place when the OW calls and the MMC was ready to bolt to her and talk to her even at the risk of hurting her (yep he said it exactly that way).

And of fucking course the FMC is a fucking VIRGIN! Girl STAND UP WTF.

I waver between a 3-4 star because, just like Julia Michaels, I got issues....with this book. The second half was definitely looking up from the first half which I spent most of the time trying to convince myself that Michael was an immature douchebag. Spoiler, he's still an immature douchebag. And then all of a sudden he's capable of this elaborate grand gesture....

I wanted to like it more. I tried to convince myself that "it's because they are young" but honestly, Michael was straight up an asshole of a friend to Kylie and that I just couldn't get passed.
