Fear…

Fear of the unknown.

Fear of feeling.

Fear of losing.

I think I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m just one scared girl in a world where there’s a lot to be afraid of.

Cade, Lex, and Reid helped. They pulled me out of my own head, helped me feel a sliver of happiness again. But with that, I gained a new set of worries.

What if I lost another person I love?

I’m not perfect. I’ve made mistakes. Running away won’t ever be one of them again though. I’m back at Spring Hill High to fight for the ones I love. Fight against a set of enemies that want to take everything I have away.

Well, we’ll just see about that, won’t we?

**You won’t want to miss this conclusion of the Spring Hill Blues series!

Catch Me was slightly more enjoyable than Free Fall. Mainly because I didn't find so many repeating phrases or things at the beginning and the book picked up right where Free Fall ended.

In this second book, the healing of all four main characters continues. Even though we get more inside to Reid's development and Lex and Cade kind of faded to the background.
Reid's character still has a lot of faults that make him less likeable than Lex or Cade. And I still have a hard time believing in his love for Briar.
At least in Catch Me, Briar's parents get more involved as they should have been in Free Fall already.
I love how Briar found her turnaround with help of her deceased brother's best friends and his girlfriend Jules. I love how Jules was more present in this part of the story and I definitely want to read her and Cade's story!

Great read!

So I'm going to confess that I read the Heights Crew series before this and was so pleasantly surprised Oscar was in this book and I learned more about him! I love when authors do crossovers in their books! This was a great story and to be honest it had a bit of a Fallen Crest vibe to it! I'm pretty sure this book was even better than the first! Loved Reid, Lex, and Cade so much and would love to see them get their happily ever afters as well!

This is the 2nd book in the Spring Hill Blues series. Although, I did enjoy the characters and storyline...I didn't get as wrapped up in this book as much as I have other works by this author. Possibly because of a certain character that we see for the last time in a hospital bed...le sigh 😞. I know, another book series brings him back around...but damn it all!

Still a solid read. 3 stars.

I love these guys, and it was a little bit of a sadder read than I expected. I read this straight after book 1, and I was excited to see a glimpse of the heights side of things before I dive into that series! This series was good for a lighter read, and it not being completely action packed which was exactly why I enjoyed it.

It started out okay.
It was a useless book, not much smut on this one.
And i would have rather gone through life without reading this bitch.
I am frustrated and bored, but mostly happy.
Happy because i have finally finished this abomination.
So if you wanna suffer and then be happy cause you will not be suffering anymore once you finish this book (which took me 4 fucking months)
Then yes! You should read those words on paper (it doesn't deserve the title 💫book💫)
Happy suffering losers please read this review and think of the choices who led you here to read this like i do right now.
It did had some good parts but none that really changed the frustration this has got me.
Bye.

I definitely do not feel like the series is over. It just feels like it ended. I honestly was upset the she ended up with Reid. The book was rushed, feelings were left unresolved.

The first book was a solid 4, almost a 5 - this was one unfortunately only a 3 star read.
I didn't feel like it was as strong as book one, it almost felt like a whole different book, or maybe a whole different story.
The author dragged Sasha's story on and on. She also over exaggerated the heroine's love life - first Reid, then Lex, now Oscar - I mean come on!
The girl was not that likeable. She was like a cheap knock off version of Sam (Fallen Crest).
The epilogue pissed me off too, like what was that? 2 weeks later? You couldn't have maybe done a year later or 2? The kids were 16/17 year old. Who in this day still stays together at that age? Noone!

Where Free Fall was all about grief, Catch me was all about continuing your life after you got knocked down. This duet was amazing and I will never forget these characters. I hope we'll get spinoffs with Cade, Lex, Jules and Oscar's stories, because I really want to know what happens with them. The friendship between them all was the kind worth fighting for and reading about it makes we want to cry happy tears. I need more!

🏈 Reid can catch me any time 🏈

I really loved this conclusion to the duology. If I’m honest I’ve still got a soft spot for Lex and I really need him to get his HEA. Having said that I enjoyed the path this story took. There were moments I was worried the drama was getting a bit silly but Moore reined it in just enough to keep it entertaining and engaging. I’m really intrigued to find out more about Oscar so might look at his series next ♥️

We’ll catch me is defiantly the right name for this one. Swoon worth men, a truly brave MC and an amazing, emotional story. Book one left me needing more and book two definitely delivered. Loved every page and can’t recommend this story and this author enough.. I’m literally bing reading everything she has at this point .

I'm rating this book at 3 stars because as well written as the book is, it seems like a completely different story from book one. It has the same characters, but this book is more of a high school drama rather then a bully book. The main couple from book one have very little angst (and what is there felt forced for plots sake) so the book felt stagnant and unnecessary. Most of this story was about the crazy ex-girlfriend and some random boy. In face I think those two had more "screen time" then the main characters did; and due to the fact that these were not the main characters I had no interest in reading their story. The ending was also to placid for me. This book just didn't have the dynamics that book one had. Like I said, the book was good, as a standalone, but I didn't feel it as the second book in a duet. I might read books about the other boys and their college adventures. Still happy to have read it, this is a great author, I look forward to whats next.

This was such a great conclusion to Briar and Reid's story! Catch Me picks up right where Free Fall left off, and oh my gosh, it was impossible to stop once I started reading. Sasha.... let's just say I'm happy the psycho got what she deserved. I did love Briar and Reid together, those two were hot, hot, HOT and I'm definitely gonna miss them. I'm actually gonna miss the secondary characters, as well.

I would love to read more about Lex and Cade... and even Oscar. If only this were one of E.M.'s RH books... ;)

E.M. Moore did a fantastic job with this duet and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

I realllllllly liked Book 1 but this book is nothing like Book 1. Book 1 the leading lady was trying to come to grips with losing her Brother. She was a character you could support.
Book 2 she changed... she’s snippy and bitchy and so focused on revenge that I almost want to cheer for the other side. Her hatred of a new character makes no sense... she’s so queen B to him at times her character and the character she hates sound like the same person.
I was hoping we’d get a RH but I know this author is known for giving us false hope of those. *sigh*
So I’m tapping out. When a book continues to frustrate me to no end I need to just move on.

This second book in the duet is a decent length but read really fast. Most of it seemed like filler so it wasn't as engrossing as book one was, but I still enjoyed it as a low-key, relaxing read (the stressful stuff I thought would happen after the end of book 1 did not, so that pleased me immensely). I still wish it would have been RH though; I felt just as much chemistry between the heroine and the other guys as with the one she is with, and I think it would have been a fun dynamic with the H's jealousy. Looking forward to reading more from this author as I have enjoyed everything I've read so far.

If you thought the author lacked nuance in the first book around the experience of losing a sibling, just wait for her take in this one on poor people!

Look, I appreciate where the author had wanted to take this. Just like the casual misogyny in the first book, you can tell it wasn’t a conscious intention that brought it forward but rather an ignorance around the complexities of sociopolitical issues. I won’t go into a tirade on this subject as a whole, but I do think it’s significant to address it as it pertains to the book.

In this book we are introduced to a new character who has just moved to Spring Hill High School from Rawley Heights High School.

It is clear enough throughout the books that Spring Hill is a particularly affluent area; many of the characters introduced have parents who own their own businesses, live in large houses, and have the financial liberty to provide their children with first-hand vehicles. Rawley Heights, on the other hand, is described as particularly impoverished. Through the newly introduced character, we learn the students of Rawley Heights live in varying states of poverty. The school has metal detectors at its entryways, police presence, and a large issue with gang-related activity. With regards to the theme of football, it’s stated many times that the opportunities supplied to these students are limited, where scouts for athletic scholarship offers refuse to visit due to the many issues that are derived from the impoverished state of the area.

The author makes an effort to address the complexity of this character and the motivations behind his actions, but I just felt as though they fell short. He is characterized as another antagonist to the main characters. Reid offers him no empathy or understanding, and while it has already been established that he has the emotional maturity of a saltine cracker, it would have been nice to see him demonstrate any amount of kindness towards him as even just a form of character development. He is described by many characters as being “dangerous” and “conniving”. When a group of students from Rawley Heights appear at Spring Hill High School to threaten the character (equipped with weapons of varied sorts), he is blamed for “bringing those thugs around” and “putting Briar in danger.” It is constantly treated as though the presence of a poor person is like an infestation in the school that brings more. Briar offers a bite-sized amount of empathy towards him, but the author refused to let her say anything kind without offering a myriad of comments about how much of “an asshole he is” or “by no measure a good person.”

This particularly bothered me because all the character’s actions were an attempt to escape the cycle of poverty. I cannot name a single action that had anything to do with intentionally trying to be a barrier to the main characters just for the sake of it. He, in fact, goes out of his way to help them, and the author still damns him to the inevitable and sad fate of taking his only chance to escape poverty away from him.

Though race is not something described in this book series, it should be well known by anyone that poverty and race have a deeply intertwined past and present. So it is no surprise to me that the poor neighbourhood of this book is characterized within the stereotypes of black communities and neighbourhoods.

I am thus left sad and disappointed by the ending of this book, where Reid (obviously) gets the All-State scholarship, on top of a payout from the legal trouble Sasha is faced with. While I understand the price of education in the U.S. is absurd, it just ended up feeling like “rich white kid gets a full-ride scholarship and a hefty severance (specifically more than all school costs) while poor kid is forced back to the poor neighbourhood without even a chance at a scholarship.”

I truly wish the poverty plot point was not included at all, rather than being addressed with such a lack of tact.

Confronted with a situation reminiscent of when Briar lost her brother, she can think of nothing else to do but cut and run again. If she loses Reid the same way she lost Brady she won't know how to handle the loss. It is terrible to lose one person to love, but to lose two doing the same dangerous sport? Run. That is how Briar finds herself in a sketchy hotel, panhandling to survive. That is also where Sasha, Reid's venomous ex-girlfriend, finds her with revelations and dreams of further blackmail in mind.

Luckily, her boys are not going to let Briar disappear off the face of the Earth again. When they track her down in just the nick of time, she returns home with her tail between her legs. Now she has to make it up to her parents, friends, and Reid for pulling another Houdini act on them when things get tough. Add to that the fact that they now need to find a way to bring down Sasha and her corrupt cronies who have made it their mission to ruin Reid's football career and drag the couple apart by any means necessary. Can Reid and Briar keep their love alive while also uncovering all the corruption within their classmates?

The antagonists were extremely surface level. The drama was not something that drew me in and captivated me but actually started to make me roll my eyes. Especially the situation with Eli. They confront him at a party about his role in Reid's injuries and also his role in the blackmail scenes of Sasha, but do nothing aside from talk to him and threaten him. Then they had Oscar track the guy down so they can confront him again once more with force. The way they made it seem, the guy was hard to find and yet he showed up at the party and was constantly around trying to track down Sasha. So, why exactly was it so difficult to find him to the point of needing to tap in an outside source to find him?

The Sasha situation should have been wrapped up in the pages of book one. The book seemed to be dragged out between two books but it could have easily been condensed into one. If it had been a slightly longer standalone, it may have flowed a bit better and there would have been more opportunities to add some meat onto the bones of the main conflict. While the characters were well developed in the first book, the second book felt rushed and as if situations were tossed in to try to fluff it out a bit. It felt a bit rushed. It wasn't a terrible book, but I would have liked a bit more substance.

Ok thank god book two was ready and waiting for me because the cliffhanger to the previous was CRIMINAL! I mean, I devoured these, they just had that flare that captured me and I couldn't put them down or come up for air until I've finished the whole thing!

I loved so many things about this Spring Hill Blues duet, the story line was so much more than the typical school romance vibes, it was deep and vivid and emotional. The characters were relatable and unique, the love between them was raw and realistic and definitely got me up in my feelings!

Damn, Erin can keep us on our toes though can't she?! The tense plot did actually have me questioning if things were going to turn out OK in the end, we know 99% of what we read does have that perfect ending but it was touch and go for a bit, NGL!

My poor heart hurts so much for Lex in this one, even more so than the first book! The most gentle giant who feels so much, the nurturing and caring one of the group. I feel like we got a bit of closure with him but I wouldn't be opposed to him getting his own story out there *wink wink nudge nudge* 😉

Cade is just cracks me up, gals we love the goofball don't we?! The one who makes inappropriate jokes to break the ice or always lifts up the story with their presence when it gets a bit heavy. He was the perfect joker of the group and I loved him.

Reid, I barely recognised him from the guy he was at the start of the first book, but I'm here for it! I loved that he got comfortable enough in himself and followed his heart for what he wanted, even if his inner turmoil was blocking it for a while. And good grief, I think he could even smooth talk Cade into swooning after him! He was adoring, caring and totally loveable in his affections towards Briar.

Now Briar, I was waiting for this to happen, I don't want to say she got a grip of herself because she's been through a lot, but she came back to herself. Her development was on point and I loved that her strength and power shone back through! All thanks to three loveable guys we've just spoke about.

And Hello Oscar 🥵 I am so buzzing to go to the Heights so I can see more of this guy! Mysterious and sexy, just how we like them aye?! So on that note, if you need me I'll be in the Heights ✌🏻

Summary: FMC Briar struggles to keep her head above water and regain control of her life after her boyfriend gets injured, she runs away from home, and her boyfriend’s ex tries to blackmail her.

Review/notes:
* Initial Response: This book was significantly better than the first one.
* Recommendation: I would recommend this to people who like YA sports romances or Riverdale type stories.
* Re-Readability: I might reread it someday.
* Style: The writing style is fine, average. Nothing special.
* Plot/Structure: I would have finished this book much faster but it’s been a busy couple days in my personal life, otherwise I might have finished this in one sitting. I kept wanting to see what happens next. There were definitely more intricate story lines going on in this one.
* Character: I thought the characters were relatable and had more depth in this one. They weren’t all filthy rich like I feel they often are in high school and college romance books. Briar was much more tolerable this book after the initial running away piece. I didn’t feel like putting my head through a wall reading her internal monologue anyways. My heart hurt with Lex and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop Oscar was a beautifully written conundrum that I couldn’t decide how to feel about. Reid wasn’t as much of a douche canoe but still upsetting at times. Cade was a sweetheart who deserves only the best things. Jules was also a sweetheart and I wish she had been in the book more. If the author wants to write a book about Lex finding love, or about Cade and Jules, I would be so down to read that.

After being completely hooked by the first book in this duology, Catch Me was a real disappointment. While I had high hopes for the continuation of the story, this sequel just didn’t deliver in the way I’d hoped.

One of my biggest issues was the way Sasha’s storyline was dragged out. It slowed down the pacing significantly, which took me out of the story. What should’ve been a deep exploration of the characters’ healing felt unnecessarily prolonged, and it just didn’t have the emotional punch I was expecting.

Reid’s character, unfortunately, didn’t improve much for me either. His flaws, which were already evident in the first book, made it hard to root for him, especially compared to Lex and Cade, who basically faded into the background. I found myself wishing for more of them, particularly Lex, whose feelings for Briar felt completely underdeveloped. And honestly, Briar never fully addresses the emotional mess she created with him, which left me frustrated. Lex deserved closure, and it was disappointing to see that storyline left hanging.

While Briar does have some growth, particularly with the support of her deceased brother’s best friends and Jules, I found myself more invested in Jules than anyone else. She became a standout character, and I’m genuinely excited to read more about her and Cade in the future, but that doesn’t completely make up for the weaknesses of this book.

Overall, Catch Me didn’t hit the emotional highs I expected from the second book in a duology. I had a hard time believing in the romance, especially between Briar and Reid, and the lack of resolution for key character arcs left me feeling unsatisfied. If you were hoping for the same intensity as the first book, this one may not meet your expectations. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re really invested in these characters’ journeys and willing to tolerate the dragged-out pacing and unresolved emotional conflicts.

Loved this series went but I feel like there was a lot left unfinished.
1. Starting with Oscar, I never 100% understood what was going on did her like Briar on a romantic level? Some of his motivations didn’t add up. I also really didn’t understand Briars feelings toward him 1 minute she would defend him and the next she thought he was a very bad person which left me really confused. I understand he’s a main character in the authors other series the heights crew however, I quick skim of this series showed she didn’t acknowledge any of the characters from this series. When the scene where he talks with the coach about having Brady’s old position happened I was so excited to see oscars story come around and have him work with the guys so I was let down to see that be such a nothing plot. I was left upset with how his character was handled.
2. They keep alluding to Lex having had something to do with Reid getting hit but never confirmed or denied this suspicion.
3. Lex as a whole. This character was very miss handled and I’m hopping the author continues the story because he deserves a story of his own.
4. Same goes for cade and dropping that he likes Jules. I think that story could be explored in a following book as well
5. This story also felt unfinished not having some sorta significant time jump epilogue. Did they both get into the school? Did Cade and Lex get in as well? Just would have been nice.
6. I think that there was some much needed male perspective in this book and it would have benefited from some male point of view chapters. Without it I was left feeling like Reid, Cade and Lex were very surface level and rushed.

I enjoyed the spring Hill blues duet it wasn't at all what I expected. The whole story was deeper than what I thought it would be and definitely emotional. The twists and turns will have tou gripping the edge of your seat (even though I predicted some 😜)

I really loved seeing Reid and Brair get closer and stop fighting the connection they have the chemistry between them is 🔥! I seen a few people comment about how they didn't like them together and him being to controlling but I honestly loved their relationship he's been secretly pining over her for so long once he has her of course he is going to want to protect her and what they have. It was lovely seeing him grow as a person in this book and finally stop letting his grief and loyalty to Brady (Brairs deceased brother) dictate his future with her💙
As much as I adored watching them fall for each other my heart did break for Lex who also loved Brair he loved her yet still stepped aside and watched on as his best friend made her happy knowing how much it hurt him to see it he still supported them🥺 I would love to read about Lex finding his happiness.
Cade again was my favourite he's so hilarious without even trying just there making situations lighter when they get a bit rough. He was the joker in the group never taking life to seriously. Through freefall he was a bit of a manwhore but towards the end of this book we start to see a change in him when he develops feelings for Jules Brairs best friend and Bradys girlfriend. I would absolutely love to read about Cade and Jules. After tragically loosing Brady and struggling to move forward it would be lovely if we seen Cade be her shoulder and over time things slowly developing into more... they are so young and she has her whole life ahead of her she deserves to be happy again 💜

The boy she loves lies still upon the hospital bed. The pain in her heart doubles, and her need to run brings her to a truth she didnt know.

He's willing to fight for both himself and for what they have, what will it take to get her to see what he sees...

Oh my gosh what a read!!

The sadness lingers in the background throughout this continuing book, and to some that might be morbid but to me it felt right for this series.

He's gone but not forgotten and I really connected with that. I loved that Bradys death wasnt glossed over and that he was remembered and mentioned many times.

This story touched me on so many different levels, and my lil heart cried for what was lost, what was on hold and for the change in the group dynamics.

Briar deserves happiness, a sunshine in her otherwise rain filled days, and that's what he is. She's an amazing character and her strength is unrivalled.

Reid is "the man". The quaterback the one to return her to them.

He's her reason to breathe, and I loved that about him.

They are the cutest couple ever!

This is a read to make you tear up, swoon, sigh and lose your heart over, and you know what I wouldn't change a thing about it!

We pick up where book one ended with Briar in the hotel room I'm not going to get into details about that part. you'll have to read the story to find out what happens she does get to go home. During the Journey of this book Reed and Briar's relationship continue to grow as well as face some obstacles but during it all they stay strong together in stead of running away like she did in the past. I love seeing their relationship grow and also throughout the story you can still feel the loss ofBriar's brother Brady but she and the other character's don't let it get the better of them. There are still things they have to deal with and obstacles the cross would they do it together. I couldn't help the emotions going through me while reading this but one thing is for sure the true love between the two of them and how they work to make it work between the two of them they have all definitely grown in the story. Like somebody else had said above I would absolutely love more books in the series with some of the side characters. Also the ending was perfect this is another amazing book by this talented author and I can't wait to see what's to come from her.

What a great follow up to Free Fall. E.M. always does an excellent job of engaging the reader. I know that once I start reading I do not want to stop until the end. Guaranteed to be entertaining, and Catch Me does not disappoint.

Catch Me picks ups where Free Fall leaves off. Briar is still running from the guys, which from book one I never understood why she left to begin with, but an encounter leaves her wondering if she should return to Spring Hill. Asking her self will returning help or hurt her? Will she be ready to fight for the ones she loves? Or will her enemies take everything from her?

Loved that Briar really seemed to step up and evolve this book. She is going to deal with things head on, no more running. She is there for her guys, helps them anyway she can. I really like where they are now. Also it was so very nice to see a certain someone get what's coming to them. Overall, a great second addition to the Spring Hill Blues series and I cannot wait for more.

Perfect

I really enjoyed this story. I love the bonds this group has, there is so much potential to expand on the H&H and or to right about the supporting characters.
One of my favorite series Fallen Crest by tijan. And if you ever read tijans story you will truly
love this one
Reid is amazing, he has everything going for him and is going through allot and on the verge of losing his dreams. And even on the verge of losing he still always puts Briar first. He worries more about her that his own problems. He is fiercely protective of Briar and can get very Jealous. But its a healthy jealous and not sychotic. Briar is an amazing girl who has been through losing her brother. I think she handled it well. And she needed the boys and her best friend to do what they did to bring her back to life.
I would live to read more about Reid and Briar and see how things go for them in college. I also hope there will be a story for our supporting characters Lex, Cade and Jules. I Think Jules and Cade deserve each other
