Aura and Zenjirou's happy marriage life continues, although with Aura's pregnancy they quickly realize that Zenjirou probably should take a more active role in the kingdom. Aura and her loyal advisors are obviously worried about this, after all there is pressure for Zenjirou siring kids with concubines despite the couple's own wishes and in a patriarchal society doing so risks Aura's position. Things get further complicated when foreign dignitaries and Zenjirou's ancestors get involved. In the end, it brings the couple closer together and Zenjirou get to show at least some of his skills as a former salesperson in Japan.
The second volume sees a bit of world building, but mostly on character development. Personally I like both the minor bits on kingdom building, but also the growing of romance in what started mostly as a political marriage and the slowly developing trust between the couple. It is a tad slow-paced with no big plot developments and no action, but it fits the story and a great twist on the usual isekai tropes. Up to the next volume...
As the title states, Zenjirou is a kept man, who volunteered for a life of being submissive and breedable to his royal wife. Unfortunately, he is so passive thus far that it’s starting to wear on me. Guy only worked 2 or 3 years before fleeing Japan, so he can’t be so burnt out that he’s given up on all drive and ambition. Hoping he gets more motivated. This volume, he starts exposing himself to more of the outside world and works on baby-making. It was fine and series continues to be generally well-written.
