Taking Off, the third installment in the Equestrian Romance Series, takes a deeper look into the life of Erin Sorrenson. This novel begins not long after Kicking On ends, and Erin is now newly-divorced and feeling lost. Even though she recognizes that the divorce was necessary, she is having difficulty moving past the intense guilt she harbors inside. However, instead of dwelling on things she cannot change, Erin takes a leap of faith and applies to be a working student for a professional eventer in Virginia. This was an opportunity she missed out on when she was younger, and she’s determined not to have any more regrets. Erin packs her bags and loads up her horse, Jazzy, and heads south for the winter to reclaim some distant dreams. While she expects to work hard and ride even harder, she doesn’t expect to find romance quite so soon, nor does she expect to find her new path in life. But will painful memories from her past prevent Erin from truly moving on?
Laurie Berglie lives in Maryland with her husband, James, and their 8 four-legged children. She enjoys renovating her fixer-upper farm, reading horse books, and competing in the hunters. She has a BA in English from Stevenson University and an MA in Humanities from Towson University.
I thoroughly enjoy Laurie Berglie's books. They are perfect little escapes when you need a break from reality. Her characters are warm, true equestrians that you find yourself rooting for. Taking Off did not disappoint. You will enjoy this book whether you are a horse lover or not!
Such a great read! They’re accessibly written, and each character feels like a different piece of me as I read through their stories. Absolutely cannot wait for the follow up on Erin’s Irish adventure! Thank you for creating these stories & worlds to truly dissolve into. :-)
This book is positive and uplifting. It is a must read for anyone traveling to Middleburg/Warrenton/The Plains, VA. Equestrian books are so hard to get right—Laurie hits the mark every single time. I love her characters and writing. Well done!
