Ms. Tingle is Gordie's most favorite teacher ever. Just when he begins to have problems at school, Gordie starts finding clues that suggest that Ms. Tingle is getting married and moving far away. Can Gordie and the gang stop her before it's too late, or will they lose the best third-grade teacher Gordie's ever had? A companion to Third Grade Stinks! and Third Grade Ghouls.
A former elementary school teacher, Colleen O'Shaughnessy McKenna lives in Pittsburgh with her family. She is best known for her Murphy series, based on her own family.
Gordie and his classmates have to practice for the third grade play their teacher wrote. All of the kids tease him because he has a history of forgetting his lines. Along with all of this drama, Gordie finds evidence that his favorite teacher is getting married and might move away. Gordie works together with his classmates to convince her to stay, but it turns out she is not moving away after all. This book has a casual tone, making it easy for kids to understand the book. There are a few pictures in the book, but not enough to take away from the words of the story. This book is about third graders, but it can very easily be enjoyed by a second grade student reading on their own as well. Third Grade Wedding Bells is a good lesson for kids to find out all of the facts before they come to conclusions.
