I need a wife. She's perfect for the job. I'm not the kind of man who thinks about settling down. But when my family demands my inheritance is off limits unless I show them I'm serious about having a future with marriage and kids and all that jazz, I know I have to find a solution. That's where Starla comes in. My new intern is funny, beautiful, and perfect for the role of my 'wife.' What can go wrong? How about... falling head over heels for Starla and realizing that I want our pretend marriage to become real? But to get my happily ever after, I need to tell her about the game I've been playing with her heart behind her back. Will the truth end our future before it begins?
This novel contains a hot billionaire who never meant to fall in love, but now he's hooked. He won't rest until she has his wedding ring on her finger. NO cheating, lots of kindle-melting action, and always a happily ever after!
✔ Fake Marriage ✔ Mutual Benefits ✔ Opposite Attracts ✔ Insta-love ✔ Dual POV ✔ HEA
As soon as I started reading the first chapter, I already disliked Bolt. I mean I'm all in for a**hole heroes or I don't mind a guy being experienced as long as he doesn't wave the title in my face from the beginning. It leaves a bad impression. Ugh. Specially not interested about the details of some girl that wanna get laid with Bolt. And Starla's bestfriend just vanished and her mother was never introduced. Well, I felt like the synopsis was kinda misleading. I thought Bolt would be faking to be in love with Starla only to end up falling for her and she wouldn't have any idea about his plan until she somehow learned the truth. Btw, some of the comments, scratch that, all the mean comments about 'other girls' was pissing me off. What's wrong with her? But then again the author portrayed 'women that's not Starla' as sluts with bitchy attitude. Starla was pathetic sometimes. WTH? I was furious. I couldn't believe Bolt did that. Just disgusting after saying he fell in love with her. I.Hate.Him. How could I want a HEA for them. Whatever! I just skimmed after that for the sake of finishing.
Steamy, Intense, Drama-O-Rama, Sexy, Sweet, spicy , intriguing and so delicious. This story goes through the rollercoaster ride of emotions yet does it in a short and fierce way. This fake marriage sham story is fantastic! You will be rooting for the main characters- Bolt and Starla from the very beginning. Loved the chemistry and the chemistry...off the chain great!! The ending was fantastic!
ARC received by author in exchange for an honest review!
I must say it has a wonderful story with a big side of drama, the steam is a bit less then in the others. But that isn't a bad thing. I love these kind of troped they are fun and special.
Starla is a girl who didn't come from the same side as Bolt, but has more appreciation for everything. When you get everything handed it's natural to see that as normal, when you haven't you get to see more beauty.
I read a few with the same story line as this one, but it still was different.
This is a sexy fake wife to real love romance. I love the whiskey distillery back drop, it adds a level of sultry sexiness to the story. Bolts overbearing father is demanding that he settle down and become a father, or he won't inherit the family distillery. Bolt is a determined bachelor who sees relationships as a distraction. He plots against his father to pick the most unsuitable person he can find so that his father begs him to get a divorce (to save the snob the embarrassment). In exchange for a divorce, Bolt will insist on his inheritance, in writing with no strings attached. Perfect plan, right? What could go wrong? How about falling for the unsuitable girl that your father hates but wishes he would love. Starla is from the wrong side of town, dirt poor but knows the value of the things in her life. She knows what's important and Bolt quickly becomes that. She agreed to be his fake wife but she wasn't told the reasons behind it - when she finds out, is it all over just as Bolt realises needs more?
This was a great book that was fun to read. Bolt and Starla were from opposite worlds but were so perfect for each other. Their chemistry was over the top. She was the answer to his inheritance. His father insisted that he settle down, get married and start making babies. This was the exact opposite of what he wanted so he came up with the idea of a fake wife. I've read this theme in several other books, but Penny Wylder's story is the best written of all and had a unique twist. Lots of steam, plenty of drama and some twists to keep you page-turning. No shortage of family drama or surprises. A great read and a sweet love story as fake turns real.
I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Bolt and Starla was worth reading and well written. Starla wants to work at Bolt company and he needs a wife. Can they find love? I whole heartedly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
I really shouldn't be leaving this here bc I only read about 11% of the book. She didnt even pick an outfit before I was done. I dont like Starla and i didnt like the male lead. (Cant remember his name, but i know i hated his name too) Too unrealistic. His father that ran the company for his entire life wouldnt give it to his son, bc he isnt married or dating. REALLY!!!! It's not an old decree written in the bylaws of the company, but just something the father said in anger. That was stupid and unbelievable. Then we got to her and acheiving the internship, (which I supposed ugly name guy picked her out from the lot of interns.) and she isnt thinking about her first impression. NO! A friend has to remind her. No one starting out on life wouldnt prepare for what they think is their big break. (At least I think so) After her rant about the thongs, I was done with her. Too uptight for me and I dont care what happend to her now. I'm done with Penny books. 3 out of the 4 I've read weren't good. I starting to think that the 1 that was really good (the first 1) was written by a ghost writer. I enjoyed them and they fit well together. With the other 3, either you get whiny, crying f-leads and (not or) pompous WAY too self assure m-leads. Also what's up with them always getting married at first site? Cant 1 couple have a long history of even being friendly with each other, before the jump into marriage? The plots are good ones, just need to be developed more. Even for a short story, it can be done nicely. You shouldnt have to struggle to read a book. 1 star
Uf! I normally love her books, but this one was just bleh. I didn’t like ANY of the characters. I found them hard to connect to and not believable. Plus Bolt was just an awful character. I couldn’t stand him and I didn’t want to finish the book, but I didn’t think that was fair since I borrowed in on KU and wanted the author to receive compensation. She did work hard to write the book, but it just wasn’t one of her good ones.
Bolt was a grade A entitled, man whore (although we don’t see him with other women in the book, it is how he acts around other women before meeting the heroine of the story that has me put off). Plus he completely disrespects Starla while in their “relationship” together that is also off putting. They go ring shopping and all he cares about is what he wants, what would look good for him and his social status rather than what makes Starla comfortable. He does this quite often throughout the book- thinking of himself and his image rather than of others and their comforts.
Starla was an okay character. I liked her in some moments, but others were meh. She was strong and independent and headstrong on her beliefs and then in the next moment, all of that disappears and she so easily gives in to what Bolt wants. She is so easily portrayed as a pushover for the majority of this story and that bothers me when she was first portrayed as independent and strong.
I’m just disappointed in how this story turned out as I normally enjoy this author’s works.
Would've been 5 stars but the typos definitely cost a star.
Great story made me feel all kinds of mad, sad and then ecstatic glad.
Bolt's father threatens to pass the family whiskey business on to another family member if he doesn't marry. Bolt devises a plan to force his father to renege on his threat and allow him to divorce a poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks.
Starla doesn't even know what she's been pulled into when she goes to accept the internship she applied for. She's from a broken family, her father is in prison, and she wants this internship. Bolt can only see her as an opportunity until his heart takes over.
I was all prepared not to like this book because the relationship between father and son was cold and distant much more like business partners than family. I slowly came to realize that in addition to needing a convenient wife, the family also needed to see and feel love and observe how real families without all of the financial and connected purse strings show unconditional love. Although our lead worked hard to convince herself and us that she was ready for what was to come and wouldn’t be surprised, she was caught with her eyes wide shut! Interesting read!!
This was such a great read. From the beginning Bolt could not help but fall for Starla. She may not come from money but she knew what to value more. She was honest and had no problem working for what she want and needed. Bolt loves his job and finds himself against a wall when his father explains what he expects of him. What starts out as a way to get what he wants on his own terms turns into Bolt realizing what really matters. As he and Starla spend more time together Bolt begins to see what really matters. The connection and friendship they build gets stronger as they spend more time together. And there is no denying the attraction they have for one another. This was another great book by Ms Wylder. I absolutely loved the HEA.
Bolt and Starla make a deal to help each other out. Starla will work as an intern for Bolt’s distillery in exchange for being Bolt’s fake wife. When it seems like fake is becoming real, Starla assumes Bolt feels the same way. But after finding out the real reason Bolt needed a fake wife, Starla realizes she doesn’t know Bolt at all & flees. This was another good read from this author!
The chemistry between Star and Bolt is undeniable and hot. I didn't like how everyone thought that Stsr was using Bolt because she has no money but Bolt is actually using her. I cried when Star found out the real plan, it broke my heart & I wanted to hit Bolt. Star has no money but what Bolt learns is she has so much more to offer & that's love. Thankfully Bolt realizes he fell in love with Star, makes amends & we get hea.
Love these stories from Penny, the ones where they think they are finding a convenient arrangement only to have found their forever. That’s what Bolt finds when he makes his arrangement with Starla. He thought he had the perfect plan to get his father to give him his company that he has worked so hard for, only to have found the woman who is perfect for him. The one that he can’t see himself without. Love the chemistry between Bolt and Starla.
Absolutely loved this book! This has to be one of my favorite books by Penny Wylder. Bolt and Starla start their relationship off as fake, but that doesn't last long. Real feelings get involved and everything get thrown off course. Bolt grows up and realizes he really does want what everyone else has. A wife, kids, a family. Loved loved loved their story!!
This book is the same as the other 'fake wife' novels by the author. The plot is exactly the same, only difference the H business, words, sex scenes, h, all the same! This is not what I sign up for when I get a NEW book! I should have just read a random book three or four times, I would have saved my money!
I liked the storyline. But I felt that the hidden agenda that Yale and Bolt had wasn't so hidden. I mean Starla should have figured it out. I also felt there several discrepancies in the stories like where Starla lived and all.
I wish the author had elborated more in how everything worked out between the couple and their extended families.
This is a very enjoyable book. A cute storyline, likable characters and great chemistry are combined to make a very fun read. Drama, emotion and heat add extra flavor to Starla and Bolt's romance and help to make sure your attention stays focused. I am choosing to post a truthful review.
I enjoyed reading this book and the drama that is involved though I feel like I have read a storyline. Overall I still enjoyed reading it and I loved Star’s personality
Safe, I waffled back and forth a few times whether or not I liked the hero. I didn't care for him at the start. I really liked Starla, felt bad for her and needed the hero to grovel more to make up for his he made her feel.
This is the first book I read from this author. It was good. Everything that happened you could see it happening. The ending was disappointing as it was too easy for him
I got this book as an ARC reader, for my Honest review. This Book was Good. The ending was Ok. I never read her book before, but now I'm going to read more.
Bolt is in need of a wife his family will hate and poor Starla fits the bill. This was a fast read for me and the writing was pretty good, except for a few errors.
