As this is an ongoing saga, to limit on spoilers I will only give the bare minimum, if anything at all about each volume's story. Soooo after the mission is complete, there are so many questions left unanswered both to me as a reader and our seeming first confirmed three primary characters. This is such quality world building with the us readers having to only learn in snippets what's really going on alongside Kei and co. Even neater the genre is yet to be determined with the mix of horror, mystery, sci-fi and speculative fiction! Even the art, sometimes left me unclear what is happening. Such a neatly tilted book with multiple ongoing areas of mystery yet with enough happening at any one time to entertain. Finally a manga that works for me - another 8 out of 12, Four Star read.

it took me about 90 minutes to finish this manga its so addictive.
once you start you can't really let the manga go and you have to finish it and if my eyes weren't fucked up by all the reading i did today i would read more volumes until i made sure my eyes were at their limit.
this is the first manga i read without ever watching the anime even so i think i read somewhere that the anime is not complete and might not get completed, after all how many R-Rated animes are there?

Gantz Volume 2 is again short, weird and contains explicit images.

Kei and Masaru meet a group of people who HAD died and yet somehow are together in the same room. they are unable to hold or touch the windows. No signal on the phone.
They are able to hold the phone though. Silly, ain't it?

The speculations of it being Heaven are soon wiped off when they discover that they're actually in an apartment somewhere in Tokyo. Amidst them is a black Orb/Blob that hasn't taken any action so far.

-------
2026 re-read: It's all cryptic. Somehow everybody dead has winded up in a "room" in Tokyo, alive, functioning but unable to exit the room.
What I like about this Manga is, it's extremely fast-paced. Curious what lies ahead

The mystery/madness continues.
The Onion things Father is the major victim here.
Points are given.
Gantz is identified..but it doesn't really help.
Then back home..

My urge to read on is pretty strong ..but who knows if I'll be any the wiser by Volume #37..but it seems it might be fun.

Highlight? The Dog is pissed because it gets O points!!

This was supposed to be a palate cleanser before I sleep because I don’t want to think about how badly I want to read the last book of the series that I just literally finished. Thought I need a quick digestible and remembered this. Should have read a standalone though, because this makes me want to devour the whole series tonight which was totally not my original plan.

When I say I want gore—this is what I’m asking for. Blood, broken limbs, and GUTS. I could literally hear the flies buzzing in my ear! This is a weird spin on the classic battle royale—imagine dead people transported to a room and being let loose to hunt a particular target but in a survival of the fittest kind. But there’s more, the game is still unraveling and they can actually go home alive after the mission/s—only, they have to get a score of a hundred. The more you kill, the more you score.

Gantz is so hypnotizing. Despite its explicit nature, you wouldn’t want to take your eyes off the fluid action sequence. Told myself I would literally drop the series if Kato did die! Glad sensei listened to me, coz I’m so intrigued that I want to read more.

Tres estrellas y media.

This volume finishes up the first major mission for Gantz and the crew. After they mercilessly murdered a child alien the father of that alien is here and he's ready to wreck havoc. He goes on a rampage and these group of Gantz warriors begins to get murdered. The end result answers a few questions of what happens at the end of the game but not all of it, the questions still linger, yet this is very very exciting issue with intense moments.

What I liked: Loved the fights in this. Kei using his suit for the first time is a blast. Watching the weirdo middle grade kid fight too is both scary and fun since he knows so much more. You also get a wonderful moment where you see the father Alien speak and it's almost heartbreaking because they make these aliens sympathetic instead of just killing machines without any emotions. Also you get a lot more tits. Oh and Gantz is funny as fuck when he speaks.

What I didn't like: The tits and ass is wonderful but it seems excessive. Maybe cause older now and can see it's more fanflare than anything and I don't even mind it when they're running away or whatever but to have a cover with sweat dripping off chins and tits just hanging out of the suit, it's little too "fan service" for me.

Overall though Gantz keeps ramping up and questions keep building and it keeps it highly entertaining with a lot of different characters. I think it gets even better as it goes on from what I remember, let's find out!

As I mentioned in my review of Gantz 1, I had picked up the first two volumes. More details were revealed in this volume and it starts to sink in for the characters that they are not in a dream - they are not going to wake up and be back in their own lives. The Battle Royale vibe I got in reading the first volume was very similar to the reveal of in this book. Moral dilemmas are sure to follow in subsequent volumes, especially since new characters should be rotating in and out.

The arrival of a new character - Nishi - was useful in dispelling some of the mystery of the orb and allowed readers to find their footing, just as Kei, Kato, and the young woman were doing. The scoring is nuts - to think what the characters are going through and only get a few points has to be demoralizing. I well imagine that Kato will have to compromise his ethical position if he is going to survive.

One element that bothered me in the first volume and I was disappointed to see it perpetuated in this volume and that is the two-dimensional young female character is developing into so far. She started out as a sexual object and during the scoring, instead of being referred by her given name, she was referred to as "Tits" -- putting her on par with the dog, who was referred to as "Dog". She has no clothes and no underwear according to the orb -- a real damsel in distress. She is in real need of development in the coming volumes.

The gore in this volume is fantastic, with the opening chapter being particularly spectacular. I was happy to see the yakuza get blown to pieces with his guts falling out, and then to top it off, the alien crushes his head. The author does a good job of building tension as Kei stumbles through the scenario, accidentally discovering things he can do. His character is starting to develop. This is not high brow stuff, it is full of mayhem and sometimes that's enough.

Volume 2: Chapter 11-22
Phase 1: Missions
Arc 1: Onion Alien Mission

Kurono and Kato were forced to fight and kill the Onion Alien. Nishi appears to finish the mission. Four of them, Kurono, Kato, Nishi and Kei completed the mission and being teleported back to the room.

In this volume, the ability of the suit worn by Kurono has been shown. We also got to know a piece of information about Gantz. The people who were sent to the room act just like a document using a fax.

It's getting interesting!

4 ESTRELLAS .

Better than volume 1, still pretty dumb, but there's some intriguing world building and still good gore and violence.
