John Salvatore Romita, Jr. is an American comic book artist best known for his extensive work for Marvel Comics from the 1970s to the 2000s. He is often referred to as JRJR (the abbreviation of John Romita, Jr.)
This is a very nice retrospective of J.R. Jr.'s work. There are excellent Spider Man, Daredevil, and Iron Man stories, but I never much cared for his Punisher or Hulk works. Also included is an absolutely awful thing called Star Brand. I had a very pleasent and memorable discussion with the bookstore clerk when I was purchasing this; we debated the merits of various father-and-son comics artists.
John Romita Jr. has left an indelible mark on Marvel Comics history. This lengthy collection still doesn't touch upon all the key Marvel characters he left his stamp on. This is a fantastic volume, one that highlights many important moments in Marvel lore across more than four decades.
This is a very well put together collection! JRJR has worked on a number of very notable stories throughout his career, so along with highlighting his work, this edition also serves as a great collection of various well-regarded stories. Not all of them are complete winners, and some lack quite a bit of context, but overall most of the pieces are very good, with both terrific art and writing.
