I struggled a lot reading this book. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker when it comes to slow burn romance. Add a bit of drama, a nice piece of hunk, internal battle, steamy sex scenes and mix it all together and I'm on it. But what we have here is just weird. For twenty something chapters Troy and Sadie, our main characters, don't do anything... Like literally anything.

There's a lot of dull filler chapters which don't add anything to the story, like a chapter when Troy makes plans for his day, organizes his schedule while talking to people he works with. There's one mentioning of Sadie for a second but that's it. And these two, who are supposed to like each other secretly? But they just don't. There are no stolen glances, no attempts to meet outside the gym, no burning desire so that the reader could actually believe that they belong together. There's nothing slowly burning in the air. Nothing that makes your anticipation for the first kiss grow more with each page. Nothing. Zilch. Nada.

They aren't together for 95% of the story until they suddenly are. And I'm supposed to buy that? Well, I couldn't. Plus, after waiting for 20 plus chapters, you would at least expect the first kiss to blow your mind. Spoiler alert: it doesn't. The first kiss is actually the one and only sex scene in this book. It's weird and super fast. I read it and felt nothing. It was just meh.

The only interesting point was the crazy ex boyfriend. But that's about it. I highly doubt I'll read more of this series.

I loved this well-written romance storyline with denied feelings,  an abusive ex, great main characters and equally engaging secondary characters.  There is  plenty  of attraction,  chemistry, friendship and camaraderie, some fear but also the determination to conquer the  fear and  protect oneself. The  Hero is a  powerhouse alpha with a soft spot for helping females in need, operating  businesses, being a wonderful friend and an overall protective and decent person.   The heroine is  smart,  sassy, and determined to overcome her fear and helplessness.  This book ends on  a hell of a cliffhanger. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

This book was.....not my favorite. The pacing is all off, the relationship barely develops at all and then all of a sudden they're together. This was one of the most abrupt sex scenes I've ever read.

This is the first book in a series, but I didn't know until the very end of the book that it's an overarching plot, not one off pairings, so the ending isn't satisfying at all. Honestly, instead of three shorter and very badly paced books, this should have just been one fairly long book, since the plot of this one is an outline for the first half of a romance. On its own? Kind of a flop. I won't be continuing with the series.

Good start of the series and good romance with good characters.
4.5
I liked the story, the rise of feelings and the theme about the violence against women, without sinking into misery, while showing a heroine who can not defend herself, but who decides to learn not to to be a victim.
The beginning is a little slow, but once all the characters and their links were set, the reversals captivated me.
The cliffhanger is very or very well placed.
Sadie flees from a toxic and violent situation with her ex-boyfriend Luke. She decides to take charge and starts taking kickboxing classes in the gym next to her home. His instructor is Troy who is very virulent against men who abuse their strength over women, and each of them gets closer to the other without daring to really start because both are recovering from a difficult relationship, until Luke comes back around Sadie.

Ok, first thing - this is a cliffhanger. Just wanted to get that out of the way in case you really hate them, I do. Other than that, I really liked the book. It was a compelling read and the two protagonists dance around each other for most of the book before succumbing.

Sadie has just gotten herself out of what was becoming an abusive relationship. Unfortunately, her ex is not going to take this well. She decides she needs to learn to better defend herself when she sees a gym near her apartment that offers kickboxing classes. This is how she meets Troy who owns the joint with his mother.

Troy is a financial advisor/money manger who also happens to be into physical training -and his motorcycle. He has partnered with his mother to remodel and open a small gym. He is in charge of the money side and also teaches classes, for instance kickboxing. When he first meets Sadie he is immediately aware that she has a very personal reason for wanting to take his class. Of course his big- mouthed mother is sure it is a problem with an ex and makes Sadie uncomfortable when she says so. Sheesh, mothers.

Find out how the relationship grows between Sadie and Troy. You will also meet Sadie's friend and roommate, and some of Troy's friends who will all be part of the story. And don't forget - cliffhanger. Ugh. Gotta read the next one.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "TROUBLE" This was a great read with lots of emotion, suspense, intrigue, anger, attraction, fear, abuse, friendship, humor, comraderie a definte page turner.
Sadie left Luke her ex because he became abusive and she didn't want to live like that her BF and roommate Uma decided to take kickboxing and self defense classes at the nearby Gym she was a nurse and Sadie worked at Detroit Metro Times.
Luke starts to stalk Sadie he's approached her three times and put fear into her looking over her shoulder the last time she called 911 but the cops said they couldn't do anything because no one saw no camera in the alley.
Troy and Katie his mom owned the Gym he taught the classes they were definitely attracted to one another but she got out of an abusive relationship and he a disaster of a relationship with his ex-Holly and not looking for another one.
Troy became very protective of Sadie feeling like she needed it he new her ex abuse her and was stalking her this was well written with awesome well developed characters.
I definitely recommend to get this book but be prepared I was shocked at the end to see it was a cliffhanger you need to read book 2 & 3 to get the Troy and Sadie's full story but I did enjoy this book.

This book does a good job of letting us get to know all of the characters and their interpersonal relationships. I appreciated this because they end up all being really likeable because of it. Troy is a decent male lead, but my favorite characters are Paris and Wren. If the book had been about their romantic relationship, it probably would have gone better.

The pacing for the main romance threw me for a loop. The development of the characters and their relationship as acquaintances was fine and felt very natural for the majority of the book. However, once you get farther in their transition into a more serious physical relationship felt way too abrupt and rushed. Even when a book is fast paced I expect it to feel like the relationship developed naturally, and this one didn't. I feltthe sex scenes were brushed over way too quickly for and I actually had to go back and re-read to make sure I didn't miss a transition scene or something. I don't think I'll be continuing the series because it's not the author's best. I recommend reading Just Me by this same author instead. It's also a three books series but with a way better development for the romance that has better pacing.

I forgot how much I really liked this author and I haven’t read her books in a while and I loved this book. Sadie is a determined, strong minded woman in an abusive situation and needs to get out and when she does she takes her future into her own hands, never did she think she would be taking classes at a gym with a hot as heck instructor.
Troy is sweet, caring and has been burned, he’s not looking for a relationship but when he meets Sadie there’s something about her that makes him want to be around her. The attraction between them is there and they keep tip toeing around it until Troy makes his move. When Sadie’s ex starts following her and coming at her from all directions drastic measures need to be taken. Luke is not understanding they are through and he won’t leave her alone, but when he acts on his emotions will Sadie pay the price? No spoilers, great read, I loved all the supporting characters is this story and can’t wait for book 2! I received a copy of this book.

Story was good, but it was a bit of a cluster. This was not a slow burn. Troy literally started the book with saying she was average and there was nothing eye catching about her. Then the next chapter he is all “i can’t get her out pf my mind”. No build up, no interactions, nothing. It literally went from them thinking the other was cute to him showing up and literally ripping her cloths off. There was no flirting, no intense moments, nothing building to it at all.

And don’t get me started on all the giggling and snickering. Every other sentence someone is giggling or snickering, and snickering isn’t even used correctly most of the time. Scoffing would have been more appropriate, but it was like once the author picked a work that is what they stuck with. There was no switching it up, no synonyms, just the same words over and over again.

ONE OUTSTANDING TREAT!!!
Ah snap! Lexy breaks the chain, charters the course and conquers the passage. Delivering well rounded scenario's, ramping up the excitement and adrenaline with such intensity and skill, melding this gem together flawlessly. Bucking the threats, rending the rules, propelling this baby into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, throwing it into a tailspin with staggering impacts. The chemistry is intense, sizzling and palpable. The personalities are well matched and blended. The characters and scenes are written with such realism and depth it makes for one outstanding experience. Remarkable job Lexy, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Help!

A fantastic plot full of suspense, frightening twists and turns, and unpredictable events. The characters are awesome hot heroes, beautiful sassy women, a meddling mother, and an evil, stalking ex. You feel her agony as she tries to get away from her ex, her despair and fear as he stalks her, her bravery as she takes self defense classes, and the trust as she finds new love. Their emotions, doubts, hope and their friendships! You lose yourself in the story, as though you are there, and they are your friends! The ending leaves you wanting more! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Slow burn ... it takes a while for Sadie and Troy to connect after their initial contact. Sadie's had enough of an ex that just won't leave her alone and she comes across a gym and she starts to take classes to defend herself. With a few interfering friends and a mother, things start to click between the two of them. Troy is a complex man, a trainer, a motorcyclist, and a personal accountant for investments, quite the combination, but it works. I can't wait for the next installment.

This story ends in a cliffhanger so be prepared.

Troy will have your attention right away with this being the first time in reading this author. Then comes Sadie and you are now a prisoner of this story with its depth. Several emotions will be played out in this one with it wrapping the characters around you. The story will have you following it closely. Having soon before this seen on ID channel a true story of a abusive one where she did not want to be a victim this one had a easy task of taking me prisoner. I was raw already with this putting more salt into the wound. Anyways this also left me screaming and I will want more.

Troy runs a gym with his mother and he is an accountant to supplement his income. One day, a woman (Sadie) signs up for his kickboxing class because of ending an abusive relationship. They become friends but he can't deny his attraction to her. He is her protector.

Sadie is strong and she will do what she can to feel confident. Signing up for a kickboxing class while her ex stalks her, helps in that task.

I quite enjoyed the book and the characters but in true Lexy Timms fashion, before the relationship between them gets good, the book is over!

Most of this book was boring as hell. The lead in to literally ANYTHING happening literally was hundreds of pages. For a “romance” novel there was one scene in the entire book and it ended in the middle of what I would consider one of the best parts in the entire book so you’re left hanging. I’m not motivated to continue the story with how long winded the first book was. It took me forever to get through the first couple hundred pages because it was full of boring details and not enough of anything exciting.

this book SUCKED. it somehow both had too much buildup and not enough?? sadie has NO discernible personality. detroit, illinois is technically a real place but is a village not a city so that added a layer of confusion I can’t even explain to the setting. I originally thought the author is even worse at geography than I am and thought the major metropolis of detroit is in illinois not michigan but now I don’t even know. this book feels like it was written by an ai. would not recommend to a friend unless we were playing a drinking game with the word ‘murmur’.

Where to start with this one?! This ARC has been one of the best I’ve ever read! Lexy Timms has become one of my favorite authors and this book explains why. Where else will you get a book that has their lead character dealing with abuse but fights for herself and learns to defend herself? Where else do you get a book with the male character having both brawn and brains? Where else do you get left on a cliffhanger that has you dying to read the next book? This one!!!! That’s where!!!

An amazing start to a new series from Lexy Timms. This has wonderful characters, and a well written storyline. Troy is the kickboxing instructor at the gym he owns with his mother. He also is an accountant and helps his clients. Sadie just broke up with her abusive ex and decided to take kickboxing classes at the gym. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Wow, Sadie and Troy's story is one of those slow burn, leave you swooning stories... Sadie has had enough of her dooch abusive boyfriend and decides to leave, then her and her bestie Uma decide to join the Kick Boxing class at the gym... Troy is the instructor of said Kick Boxing classes and so their journey begins... these two characters are likeable and well written, their chemistry is undeniable and the journey they go on to get to a "them" is nicely paced and sooo worth the wait...

I absolutely adored this slow burn romance.
These characters have that fight in them that you love to read about. They have both been burned and a little scared of a new relationship. But when the flame is caught it’s hot! The cliffhanger though.... man I’m craving more so bad right now. I can not wait for the next one to get here. Y’all read this awesome book today.

This book ends on a cliffhanger. The story feels drawn out and is mostly about the separate lives of Troy and Sadie. I liked the idea of them as a couple though and wish there had been more about that and less of the food writing, accounting and lonely motorbike rides. It's a setup story and we get to meet the main players but I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the series.

Awful

Sorry not sorry
This was a hard read, I never leave a book unfinished but almost called it quits a few times
The lead female character is strong but lacks common sense
The lead male sounds like a dreamboat. it took until the end of the story to get anywhere and left me dissatisfied
Won't be purchasing the rest of the series or anything else written by the author

I wanted to like this serious, whomever is reviewing for content and errors is not doing their job. In one book Troy is allergic to shellfish, in another they're ordering surf and turf. MC is kind of randomly thrown into the scenario. This trilogy could have easily been 1 awful book instead of 3 separate ones.

Interesting storyline

I read this book not realizing it was Book One of a 3 book series. The storyline was interesting and I wanted to see what happens. When I reached “The End” I was left hanging. Sadie and Troy make a good couple along with their other friends. Near the middle of the book I skimmed the pages - too much filler with the house and the move.

Trouble - wow

What can I say when I first started to read this book I was unsure but it grips you and draws you in .The story builds up the characters and by the end of the book you have a idea of everyone .I did not realise this was not a stand a lone but I'm glad it was not as it has given more time to develop the characters .I would recommend this book

Disappointed that this ends on a cliffhanger. Seems that book #1 on the trilogy sets the backdrop for books 2 & 3 - the budding relationship between the main characters & the secondary characters and the crazy, abusive ex-boyfriend.

Sadly, I won't be finishing it. I don't like it when authors split what could be one really good book into parts to bump sales.
