I'm the Sergeant-At-Arms for the Demented Sons MC. A year ago my life went to shit, and every priority I ever had changed. Being a single dad on the run was never on my radar, but that was the hand I was dealt.

I didn't think things could get worse.

Then fate dumped a raven-haired beauty in my lap, and all hell broke loose. Trying to keep my two-year-old daughter and a hot mess of a woman alive while still protecting my club threw my adrenaline into overdrive. Strung tight, danger coming at us from all directions, I faltered...

That was the only excuse I had for what happened next.

DNF @ 72%...

I will not lie, the beginning was good, Presley was adorable and the way she had Lock wrapped around her finger was everything.

The reason that I am DNF'ing this book is because the relationship between Lock and Raiven is SO RUSHED. They knew each other for max a day but somehow developed such strong feelings for one another that I couldn't understand it.

Then the major thing that got me was

Overall such promise in the beginning, but throwing in my least favorite trope of all time in there really made me stop and not want to continue...plus both Lock and Raiven were getting so annoying I couldn't stand them.

Back with the Demented Sons MC! I am so excited that Kristine decided to bring the MC back, but with a twist through another chapter while also providing the familiarity with starting off through our beloved original chapter. Lock thought he had his life on track by finding the woman he loved and an adorable daughter that made his life full. But when a deadly accident happens and he’s left to pick up the pieces and for himself and his daughter, the grief becomes too much and he decides to transfer to another chapter to give him and his daughter a fresh start. Raiven is running away from a horrible relationship where her only option is to run. With the help from her aunt and uncle, she meets up with Lock and unbeknownst to him, he will help get her to the same chapter he’s headed to restart her life as well. Unfortunately, nothing goes as planned and Raiven’s past catches up to them, with a twist involving Lock’s past as well. The suspense in the twist and how this one person involves both Lock and Raiven really had me captivated – Kristine’s storytelling really pulls you in and keeps you reading. The combination of Lock and Raiven and their personalities make for a level of comedy within the book because they butt heads so much, and the added cuteness factor involving Lock’s daughter really add to it as well. Overall, the suspense in this story and the revelations really threw me and I became Team Lock for good. Love these stories and can’t wait for the next from Kristine!

Great start to a spin off series. We see a good bit of the members from the other chapter so that's nice too.

This is Lock's , Matlock's and Raiven's book. Lock is on his way to another chapters in Texas and his mentor who retired from the club, asked him to give a young woman a ride to the same chapter in Texas. He doesn't want to and she doesn't want to go with him either but they do it anyways. A lot happens on the way there and even more after they are there.

Sorry but not telling what happens... find out when/if you read it....on to book 2.

Lock lost his woman but is doing his best to raise his two year old daughter despite all the hurdles he has faced in town. Lock decides he needs to stop being surrounded by the ghosts of her memories and the constant interference from a rival club, he makes plans to change chapters and head to Texas . When his close friend Pops asks him for a favor to haul something while making his trip he agrees but what he doesn't expect is it to be a stunning beauty named Raiven.

Lock doesn't need or want the distraction. Since the first time he lost his ol lady, he wants someone with a passion and it does not sit well with him. However, when he sees her with his daughter and despite the sass she throws his way he knows that the two of them are going to wind up together. On the way though something happens that could end up with one of them losing their life. With the help of his new club Lock and Raiven have a fighting chance, now they need to get everyone on board including themselves.

First off, I am not sure how I have never discovered this author. Thanks to Lola Wright for posting one of her books on her FB page. I loved this, it is one of those books you pick up and the day is gone because you cannot put down. Lock is a complex character with a heavy heart full of guilt and this author writes in such a way you feel every ounce of his pain. With Raiven she is unsure of where her footing is with Lock and you sense her being torn between hope and a heartbreak. All the side characters are fascinating. I immediately after putting this one down picked up Styx book and am done with that so onto Smoke's next. Excellent series so far.

I am so excited for this new MC series from Kristine! Her last was amazing and this one does NOT disappoint! Ms Allen is quite a gifted writer and that shines through in this book. Lock and Raven do not get off to a stellar start. They are both running and have a ton of baggage to endure. Through many twists and turns this couple gets put through the ringer and then some. Read to find out if they find their happiness together!!! You will just love both Lock and Raven! Get your copy today!!

Simply amazing

With each book she simply amazes me over and over. This one is her best so far. I couldn’t put it down. Spent my bike rally laying on my cot reading. In less than 24 hours I devoured every word. But I didn’t want it to end. Might spend the rest of the rally rereading. It was so good.

I didn’t know how to feel about this book at the beginning, lots happened but I wasn’t sure if a liked the story or not. At one point a considered taking a break and picking the book back up a another day. But just at that moment the story really took a turn and it got exacting.

I can’t say it the best book ever read but it was a great story with a adorable romance.

This book made my head spin. It had too much going on, not enough couple/relationship development.
I liked things about it that make me want to read more but I'm worried they are all like this was in the beginning.
Not sure

Lock and Loaded is one of my special finds. I liked the way Lock looked on the cover and it sucked me in when I read the blurb. As a fan of ex-military romance, these MC alpha males romance was an easy transition.
.
This was the first in many books written by Kristie Allen that I enjoyed and it will not be the last one I pick up.
.
In this book we have Lock, Sergeant at Arms for the Demented Sons and his young daughter Presley (AKA Elvis.) After the death of his wife when Presley was an infant, he tries to move on but he can not. So off he goes to another chapter in TX but before he can leave his retired mentor asked him to take a package with him.
.
The package is a Raven haired beauty with the a lot of baggage. AND Not the kind that can be deposited in the trunk of his truck. Craziness ensues and they are in the run for their lives. One MC club against another.
.
There are a ton of twists and turns. Ones that you didn't anticipate AND there are times where you just say. What the!! All in all the book is fabulous

Grab a beverage, a comfy blanket and enjoy! I tip my Nerd Girl Hat to you!!

Single dad , Matlock, Lock Archer has grieved his daughter’s mother for the last year . He is changing chapters and moving to another town to get away for the ghost and his memories . A family member ask him to give Ravien a ride . She’s running from her abusive boyfriend who she saw murder someone . On this trip Lock, Presley , and Raiven became closer then they could have ever guessed . Many secrets and enemies are revealed. Another winning MC romance down . Also loved the single parent genre.

After his woman died in a crazy accident he needed 2 start fresh with his daughter. He was doing a favor 4 pops that had him unexpectedly taking his niece with him. He didn't realize that things were going 2 turn bad very shortly one cause of his past and 1 cause of her psycho ex. but it got really bad b4 it got better. I couldn't believe what happened. It flowed really good that it was hard 2 put down.

Just. NO.
The audiobook narration was horrible. It sounded a if they were reading it like a play. The story was lacking in all categories and was poorly written.

I'm not going on with this series.

Maybe it's time to pause this genre. The amount of credits I've spent for audiobooks in this genre has been wasted in the last 3 months.

Fast paced and emotional. Loved Lock and Raiven - oh and the bonus of Presley was awesome. Love when children are a part of the story in a way that they actually enhance it. Great job, Ms. Allen!

Absolutely loved this book.

I was introduced to this author thru her Royal Bastards series...which is amazing and you should check out if you haven't. I believe Deme ted Sons Iowa series is suppose to be read before the TX series...but I noticed that the Iowa chapter only had the option to buy it now and not read it free...so I chose for go ahead and read Lok...the 1st TX series book since it had the read it free option...just to make sure I liked the feel of the stories. Well let me tell you this story did not disappoint and I will be buying the rest of the books in this series as well as the Iowa chapter. Lok is a member from the Iowa chapter who decides to move to the TX chapter when he needs a fresh start from the memories of his dead wife. Lok has an adorable 2 year old daughter named Pasely...she is a riot...her sassines and cute baby talk made me smile so much. Loks close friend and mentor asks for a favor in dropping something off something to the TX chapter since Lok was already heading that way. Only to find out it's not a something but a someone... Raven...Pops niece ( Pops is Loks mentor). Of course Lok is not comfortable with having to take a stranger with him and his daughter to TX..Raven is not happy either. But Presly immediately falls in love with Raven..referring to her as Princess Raven thruout the book. Double the danger come after them. A couple of twist and turns that I didn't see coming. Love the MC brotherhood...they are loyal to thier brothers and loved ones. Don't want to give too mu h away...but this is really a great book. Must read.

I locked into this series, without having read the original Demented Sons books. One reason: it has the protector trope. The MMC, Lock, fulfilled my expectation of the protector hero.
Swoot GIFs - Find & Share on GIPHY
There's the heroine-in-distress, who is on the run, running parallel with Lock being on the lam, himself, kind of. However, it's more like he leaves his original club chapter to start anew with another chapter, in Texas; the intention is to start over again after some tragedy and continued threats toward the whole club continue. Some of it involves him, directly, as well.

Lock is a single dad, convincingly loving and trying to do everything well for his daughter. A lot of the story and Lock's protector persona extends swooningly and cutely to this aspect, so when the heroine, Avery, falls fast, the reader really can't blame her.

The series conflict and MC club drama arc are also enough to give a bit of suspense and and a decent MC atmosphere, some "maybe" plotholes and missed development aside.

Excellent book

This book was really good, but there were two big things that I did not like about it. What I loved was the dynamic between Lock and Raiven. It was extremely well written through the entire book. They had magnetic chemistry from the first moment. SPOILERS..... even though they acted like they hated each other at first, they couldn’t stop what was happening between them. They hook up very early in the book and it was intense and hot. What I did not like .....Lock is captured by a rival gang almost immediately after. He is brutally tortured daily for 5 weeks. It was extremely hard to read and I didn’t think it was necessary. I know these things happen in MC books but honestly, does anyone really want to read about the H getting tortured so badly?? They could have just held him and roughed him up—but the torture I felt was just too much. The second thing that I didn’t like about this book was the question of who was the father of Raiven’s baby being dragged out for the rest of book. I think the whole point of it was to show that the paternity didn’t matter to Lock and he loved Raiven and the baby regardless and I appreciate that, but I felt like it just stole some of the joy away. It is resolved in the last sentence of the epilogue, but that takes place 6 years later.

I am so here for this book. It hit all the points for me for a motorcycle club romance. I knew it was going to be good because it started out with a bang and just kept pulling at every emotion throughout. The story follows single father Matlock "Lock" who is Sargeant at Arms for the Iowa chapter. After losing his wife he decides to move and jump clubs to the Texas chapter. Before he leaves he's asked to deliver a "package" to the club. That package is one of his retired club brothers' niece, Raven whom has found herself in some trouble and needs to find safe haven. The two immediately bump heads which makes for an interesting road trip. So Lock not only has to deal with Raven but his two year old daughter Presley, who is a handful. On the way to Texas, trouble appears and sparks fly. Raven and Lock have to work together along with lock's blood brother and another club brother for protection. This book has funny banter, danger, violence, hot steamy sex and a trigger or two. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK.

I remind myself to beware of the high rating. And never judge the book by its cover!

To start with, there isn't a real connection between Heroine and heroine. It's really hard to like a girl like Ravien, she appears to be a woman with a strong will, but her behavior told me the otherwise, she's whiny and childish, literally led the bad guy to their doorsteps. Who throws tantrum to a man who's just almost tortured to death?

Not any of the side characters had left a remarkable appearance to me, except the 2 and a half-year-old little Elvis. However, it starts to get irritating about her babbling because it's a little too much. But she's good, she's the saving grace.

Fast paced action packed

This story is full of twists and turns with lots of cuteness and terrifying moments. The little girl Presley is a huge star in this story and Pwincess wavewen or Raven is full of both spunk and passion. I think Matlock is a great guy with a horribly sad story of love loss, betrayal, and finally happiness. There were solo many options for this story to be another great one.... I was kinda hoping the Horse farm might have eventually played a role maybe in a future story.... Nothing like a cowboy biker maybe a calf proper or a cutting horse breeder... But alas his parents sold the farm... I think it maybe hard to follow the action in this book unless that other motorcycle club decides to try to come after them again.... I am looking forward to another story.

I listened to this via audiobook and really enjoyed the narration. My absolute favorite audiobook narration is when the man and woman are narrated separately and not the man reading the woman's parts as well, etc. It was refreshing to listen to an MC romance that actually had a great deal of MC involvement and action as well. So many MC romances fall short for me since they're missing the MC element outside of the hero being a member of a club. This on the other hand was a bit more MC with an insta love relationship thrown into the chaos. I normally loathe insta-love but the rest of the story captured me so quickly that I was bought into that as well. Overall, really enjoyed this one and can't wait to read more of the series.

first read of this author.
the plot was good but there was a few places that the story was skimmed where it would have been a great emotional pull.
then as a chapter ended, it went into the next one making you think the editing was mixed up or you missed a chapter.
I have listened to Eric before and I like his voice and kylie was a new listen, I think she needed to use some more tone as it sounded as though she was just reading at times.
I'd like to go to the next book but am hesitating with narrators. so have a listen before you take this one on
the first half is slow and a lot to do with a 2 yr old but it picks up.
these bikers are on the lighter side and have morals that make you like them
I also liked the dual narration
