With an expanding family and the streets on lock, everything in Kadeem ‘KD’ Kelly’s world felt right and he felt untouchable. But one daunting phone call shattered his entire world in an instant. With his girlfriend vanishing without a trace and being thrust head first into single fatherhood, KD has no time for anything other than raising his daughter and getting money. On the road to self discovery and recovery after suffering through years of abuse, Demi finally felt free and at peace in a new town with a new job, surrounded by new energy. After a hostile encounter with Kadeem, she was left feeling more confused than ever until an unexpected pop up brought everything to a forefront and changed everything she thought she knew. Shai Prince, the wild and unpredictable young boxer on the rise, had the world at his feet with steadily flowing money and an endless amount of women at his beck and call and had no plans on settling down anytime soon. But when “the one that got away” returns home, he gets the shock of a lifetime. Once Jaci left Philly, she had plans on never returning. But when unforeseen circumstances arise and nowhere else to go, she packs up and moves back home with the hopes of nothing or no one from her past resurfacing. But when she unexpectedly runs into KD, she knew that her secrets were no longer safe and that she couldn’t run forever. The one thing these couples all have in common is history but would that be enough to hold them together or would it be just that, history?
This book was really good. The plot was on point. It kept me up reading until I finished. I’m going to be tired at work in the morning but it was worth it. I’ll definitely be checking out more books by the author.
A Good quick read. I was surprised on what happened with Demi and would like to hear more of what she went through. The kids were adorable and I expect something to happen to Carina
This book was good! The characters were good and so was the story. Demi comes off as a little slow and simple at first. Finding out about her past endears her to you. When you really find out you will be mad as hell but hype too. Then there's Kadeem a.k.a. K.D. he's a boss and why he walks around with a dismissive attitude towards makes total sense. (I know I may not be saying much but I'd hate to ruin it.) Jaci & Demi are new friends but thick as thieves and I love there friendship. The fact that they have a connection through K.D.'s CV cousin Shai brings them even closer. Now Shai, BAYbay! He is a whole mess. That man is crass, yet he is fiercely protective of those he loves. Jaci being one of those people. Those two will have you laughing and all up in their business. I say all this to say read this book. It won't disappoint.
Relocating was great for Demi. I didn’t think she was the one who walked out KD. They gave her the cold shoulder but she had no recollection. Dallas was a smart girl but she let Carina get away with too much. Jaci was running from darkness and ran into brighter days. Shia and Skai couldn’t have been happier. Shai had a tough exterior but a soft interior when it came to the ladies of his life. His hands was lethal but the hands he was dealt with life was challenging. Happy endings are the best
This was my first read by this author, but not my last. Held my attention from beginning to end. Enjoyed the storyline and these characters. I really liked Demi and was so glad she regained her memory. Also, that her Kareem rekindled their relationship and became a family with Dallas. Jaci and Shai were able to overcame their issues and become a family with the twins. Looking forward to reading more of your work T. Alise.... Good job.
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end but, I wish it was more drama. I just love to read about some drama, laughing my butt off. Anyway, I loved how the men took care of their responsibility. I wanted to read more about Shai and his family. Fingers crossed for a part 2. The only part I did not like was towards the end. They let Carnia aka snake 🐍 get away with murder. The ending was sweet. I love a happy ending.
This was a pretty good read. I would’ve thought that seeing Dallas’ name would’ve triggered something in Demi. The whole Carina and Deon situation was just weird. Jaci was getting on my nerves she wanted her and Shai to be something that they weren’t before she ran off pregnant. Anywho good read, both couples got a happy ending and I’m a sucka for love so happy endings are life.
This book was my first read by this author and I was not disappointed at all. I enjoyed the story from the very first page. I love Demi and was happy that she gotten her memory back and her Kadeem and Dallas was able to become a family. I will definitely read more of this author work.
This two part series was lit 🔥 I had to go straight to Part 2 without leading a review on one Kadeem was book bae I'm so happy for him and Demi and Deon got what he deserved Shai was crazy but I'm happy for him and Jaci this was my first time reading this Author and it want be my last
T. you did a great job with this book...I really enjoyed reading it. I love KD....him and Demi were great for each other. I am so glad everyone got their happily ever after. This is most definitely a must read. I highly recommend this great standalone.. I look forward to reading all of your future books...
Found out about this book from my Facebook book club and I must say it was everything and more. Ms. T Alise allowed her imagination to run and her pen to be used in a very good way. This is a must read! Good plot good drama good people in the end this is the book for you.
I really loved this book!! The story was crazy but flowed good! It had me locked in and wanting to find out what was going to happen next! What’s meant to be will always be! I’ll definitely be reading this author again!
I'm glad Kadeem and Demi found out the truth. They were a great couple and deserved to be happy. Jaci should've told Shai but I'm glad she came back and told him. I wouldn't mind a story with Pree. Great job I enjoyed it.
This book was a stand alone as it should have been . This book was not exactly my cup of tea I'm into more realistic storylines but for what it's worth it was ok. First book of 2020.
I'm glad Carinna stayed away but she needed as least a good as whooping. I'm glad everything came together. Loved this book and it's my first read by this author but won't be my last.
I loved it.. I got a lil confuse when Demi didn’t know who Dallas and Kadeem was. I’m glad all the couples got their happy ending and was able to move pass all their issues. Great read
This book definitely had a plot twist that I didn’t see coming. It kept my attention and it flowed really well. Catrina didn’t get the rough justice that I was hoping for, but nonetheless I loved the ending. All was well!!
I like the story overall . Shai was definitely the life of the party . Women like Jaci are killing me , hiding kids and when they got caught doesn’t like to be called out on their shit . I like the end . I would like to read more about Pree
This book was interesting from the beginning. The two cousins/brothers lost their women at around the same time and reconnected with them around the same time but with children.
I just loved loved it!!! I’m glad that Demi was able to find her way back to Philly. I just didn’t like how he wasn’t straight forward with her. He could’ve been found out what happened to her. Glad Shai got his girl back and they had kids. Loved it!
Wow her stepsister got off too easy. She should have been stumped out or swimming with the fishes. After all this time, she had a TBI and did not know who her baby was. Demi was crazy, cut Shai was nuts. He had me laughing all through the book.
Mann I thought KD was tripping I was wondering why he hated her so much I'm glad she got her memory back I think some of them needs a spin-off great read
Drama, action, sex and jokes all make for a good book. Good characters, language was realistic and the story was nicely edited. Can’t want to see what’s next.
Really great story. The characters were hilarious and kept me entertained throughout the whole book. Will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.
