The Talkback Man

Rate this book
Good-humoured, liberal-minded Phil Rhodes, a former Fleet Street man, is beginning to feel the pace. His radio talkback show is so demanding that he has a growing preference for 'low bars and witless cronies'. His doubts about the value of talkback aren't lessened when a mystery caller keeps reminding him of past happenings he would rather forget. Among those helping him in his fight to stay airborne are Cathy Hope, a cheerless actress; Gwenda Thomas, an understanding landlady; and Evelyn Craig, a clever solo mother.
