Holy Catnip! With business booming, Cat Detectives, Buckley and Bogey, have their paws full when it comes to running the BBCDA — the Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Agency. But just when they’re ready to take a little break, someone leaves them a clue . . . right on their own front porch! Naturally, the boys are suspicious, since they usually have to hunt long and hard to find any clues on a case. And things get even more odd when the clues just keep on coming — all in little glass jars with shiny black lids. Especially when one of those jars holds a bunch of sparkly diamonds. Holy Mackerel!

But clues aren’t the only things that land on the boys’ front doorstep. Soon their family takes in a few foster cats, including an energetic kitten with an overactive imagination. One who is determined to follow Buckley wherever he goes, even as the boys track clues all over town! And when clues just lead to more clues and yet more clues, it isn’t long before Buckley and Bogey realize there is something sinister going on in their little city of St. Gertrude. From creepy mansions to angry bees, and from rescue operations to midnight visitors, this case has way more danger than the boys ever bargained for. And before long, they learn the stakes could not be higher, especially when their family is framed for a crime. That’s when the boys have no choice but to add up all those clues in a hurry and crack the case . . . or else! Holy Catnip!

Cindy Vincent, M.A. Ed., is the award-winning author of the Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Capers, a mystery series for kids and cat-lovers that features the adventures of two black cat detectives. And yes, as she is often asked, Cindy used her own black cats, Buckley and Bogey, as the inspiration for the series, since they seem to run surveillance on her house each and every night. Cindy is also the creator of the Mysteries by Vincent murder mystery party games and the Daisy Diamond Detective Series games for girls, along with the Daisy Diamond Detective novels, which are a spin-off from the games. She lives in Houston, TX with her husband and an assortment of fantastic felines. Cindy is a self-professed “Christmas-a-holic,” and usually starts planning and preparing in March for her ever-expanding, “extreme” Christmas lights display every year . . .

I loved this book. The kittens are so cute and full of personality, and I love Buckley and Bogey, and also how Buckley and Gracie continue to grow and develop as characters. They both learned an important lesson that I, for one, intend to take to heart in the new year. The story is full of twists and turns, and the end caught me by surprise. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

The Good:
I love the cats in this book...from Buckley to Trixie and every single one in between. The author does a superb job of giving each of them their individual identities and roles in solving the mystery. I don't know how Cindy comes up with these mysteries because they keep me on my toes every single page and I never know until the big reveal who it is.

The Bad:
I finished the book. Seriously. I feel as if these cats are somehow a part of my family and I miss them when there aren't new stories to read. I may need a trip to the cat cafe to get my fill of kittens soon!

The Summary:
Another great kitty mystery by Cindy Vincent. These are perfect for middle grade readers and if you're like me, maybe a few years outside of school. I can't recommend them enough for cat lovers and mystery lovers alike. Holy mackerel and holy catnip!

The boys - Buckley & Bogey - are at it again. This is a mystery which begins even though there has yet to be a crime. I don't believe I have ever read a mystery novel that begins like this. The twists and turns are true Buckley & Bogey, and the adventures hit a new high with this book. The book was also uplifting with the introduction of new characters, and I mean "characters". One of the new cats is especially a handful - and not just for Buckley. Funny, scary and adventurous. Overall, this is the best of the Buckley and Bogey series so far, and I am looking for MORE!

Holy Tuna Fish, what a fun read this book is!
The latest in this series of mysteries for kids is quite possibly my favorite so far! Some clever, evil villain is leaving "clues" on the front porch of Buckley and Bogey's house, and each new clue seems to lead to more trouble for the boys and their family.
I love how these stories involve plenty of fun and imaginative cat action, adventure, and mystery, yet they also include life lessons for everyone about friendship and responsibility. No preaching--it's all part of the plot.
The Case of Too Many Clues also brings in some adorable new characters--three calico cats who help solve the crime. The kitten Mitzi brings confusion and drama to Buckley's life. How will he manage to keep this crazy little kitten from spoiling their chances to solve this crime puzzle? Mitzi made me LOL more than once, and I was so delighted to see how Buckley mentors her and also comes into his own as an action/adventure hero!
The last few chapters held me glued to the page--action and drama and cleverness galore! I recommend this book and series to cat-lovers everywhere, especially grade-school children looking for a fun, light read. This one is going on my shelf for me and my grandkids!

WARNING: this book will have you staring at your own pet (doesn't matter if it's a cat or not) in extra adoration and might even lead to you kissing him/her more than usual, it's just that kind of book.

Buckley and Bogey are BACK and this time there are MORE cats and more danger than ever before!! I have read this entire series and I just can't get enough of these 2 cats and their family (both feline and humans).

Dedication reads: To all the fantastic foster Moms who give helpless, homeless kittens and cats a fighting chance...You are love and kindness in action.

That's the main message of this wonderful story, fostering cats. Something I don't think I could do because I would fall in love with them all and not be able to let them go. Buckley totally agrees with me on this :) Magnolia Belle is a special cat and I didn't even catch on while reading this!

I was surprised Bogey and Buckley get away with texting so many people and not getting caught, although Grace does question this at the end. I have to say, Grace and Buckley are BOTH braver in this story compared to before. GO BOGEY!!!

The beginning of the story has a cat rescue in the POURING RAIN and it truly touched me how Bogey and Buckley handled this even though it led to BATH TIME later on....there are no words for how precious these two guys are. I truly hope their stories continue.
