The end of summer, 1986. With only a few days left until the new school year, twins Jeremy and Jack Schaffer are on very different paths. Jeremy is the geek, playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends Kathleen and Randy, while Jack is the jock, getting into trouble with his buddies. And then everything changes when neighbor Mister Higgins is killed by a wild animal in his yard. Was it a bear? There's something big lurking in the woods behind their New Jersey home. Will the police be able to solve the murder before more Middletown residents are ripped apart?

Rosamilia delivers a Sasquatch creature feature set in the unlikely state of New Jersey. The story takes place in the mid-80s, but the time period doesn't add any flavor to the otherwise straightforward story. Hey, any reason to drop a Bon Jovi reference is a good reason, right?
The Beast is out and out pulp horror thriller. This is all man versus beast. No deep character development, so it's hard to really care or worry about the characters, but there is a bunch of kids in the cast, so you should have a vested interest in their well-being. The ending felt rushed yet satisfying.
All in all, a solid story for fans of all things Severed Press. Rosamilia's Severed books could be considered a genre unto themselves or at least apart from his other thrillers and horror books. The Beast was Angry.
The Beast by Armand Rosamilia was a great journey with plenty of good characters. If this bad boy was fleshed out a little bit more, it could have reined up there with some of my favorite coming of age stories of all time! But, for how short it was, it's packed with action and a lot of fun characters.
I think this author is one to watch out for, because he has a lot of promise. The way they weaved this story was a lot of fun. Sure, there were moments where I wished he would have expanded on the carnage that was going on with the Sasquatch, but overall it was a really fun read, and I'm giving this one three and a half stars.
Sasquatch horror set in a small New jersey town in 1986. There's a new development going in, and something stinky is killing people and pets. A nerd kid tries to stop it, and grows up a little in the process.
Not all that scary, uses phrases people weren't using in that time period.
Like a ticking time bomb, the story steadily moves along making the reader think it’ll maintain this pace to the end. Then boom! It explodes into a fast-paced finale with unflinching horror and gore.
Once the Beast makes his presence known, the horror keeps building at a rapid pace. Middletown will never be the same as more and more victims fall to this terrifying creature. Who will survive and can the town rid themselves of this menace? Loved the cliffhanger ending. A must read for fans of the the horror/creature genre.
This is my third book by Armand Rosamilia and it was equally as good as the first two. You don't know what's going to happen until it does and then suddenly you can't catch your breath. The unidentified abomination is one stinky monster! Its actions are barbaric, vicious, and visceral. If you're lucky you get a fetid warning but usually by the time you smell it it's too late.
There is an underlying family drama with twin teens that have grown into complete opposites of each other. There are other teens who are integral to the plot. Then there are police officers and detectives who are trying to deal with the fear that their citizens are experiencing. But no one is available to counsel the fools who are determined to seek fame by taking care of / killing the disgusting freak.
This Creature Feature book is not for the squeamish as the featured creature is ferocious, merciless, and enraged!
A fast paced story of a Bigfoot running around the woods killing people. It wasn't hard to connect to the characters - they were pretty likable. Lots of action that kept going and going.
My two complaints - 1. I didn't get a connection to the animal. I would have liked a bit more on it rather than it just killing people. 2. The ending seemed abrupt. Suddenly everything was wonderful and it was wrapped up with a summary of how things turned out.
Still, it was a fun story and I enjoyed reading it.
Bigfoot B-movie fun. Really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. Rosamilia has created a story that is as good as any 70's and 80's B-movie monster flick. It has a group of believable characters that react to a murder/mauling in a small New Jersey town. A couple of delinquent teens and the D&D playing heroes. There is enough gore to make horror fans happy, and room for a sequel.
I rated it high because it was worth reading. I liked the creation of characters. It was too short however. It came to a sudden halt. Could have been a longer story.
Love this author and the fact that he doesn't misspell words as much as some authors..... His character aren't disappointing either. I think she will be one of my favorites. The book is short but worth reading. I will e doing more reading from this author.
Pretty good Bigfoot story. Starting with the death of an old man and dog and then many more. Bunch of teenagers who decide to go hunting for what they thought was a bear. And cops who find their worst nightmare in the Jersy woods
After a couple of dark and heavy books, I needed something light, so I decided to read about a bigfoot terrorizing a small community and killing dozens of people! All good fun and a lot better than how I described it. An excellent cryptid story!
This is a lot of fun. There isn’t a lot of data to chew on and we get straight into the story which then moves at a solid pace. With Armand Rosamilia you know you’re going to get a tale that hooks you, and keeps you engaged.
A very quick read with lots of likeable characters set in the mid 1980's this book will have you not wanting to put it down! I Loved every minute of it. 5 Stars without hesitation!
Another big foot story, great from start to finish. Hoping there will be a part 2. People fear a bear is killing people but it's much much worse than that
