"TV’s smartest sci-fi series… also the sexiest!" — Entertainment Weekly Following the massive success of volumes one to three, The Illustrated Season 4 Companion continues Titan’s bestselling series with in-depth coverage of this highly acclaimed show’s incredible fourth year. Once again, we’ve had unprecedented access to Farscape’s actors and production team to bring you a detailed episode guide, behind the scenes secrets, and even an exclusive Foreword from Crichton himself, Farscape star Ben Browder! "This is the best thing on the box SF-wise, and ranks up there with the top 5 TV dramas full stop." SFX
This was the same as the other companions, except everyone knew that the series had been cancelled. So besides giving insight into the season and behind the scenes they have us how they felt about the cancellation. Enjoyed the story, and miss the show just as much.
This 4th (and final) companion piece begins with a beautifully bittersweet introduction by Ben Browder. Throughout each episode breakdown, you can read how the actors felt as time passed and they gleaned the knowledge that the series would end.
The book also explains how the show's writers and directors continued to take liberties, delving into new aspects in film (like in the "Lava" episode) that even movies hadn't explored. Despite there being new writers, directors, and actors, everything continued to unravel very well. They were still often unsure where choices and risks would take them, but were always willing to take that shot, if only to try something new.
It's a great companion piece, just as the others were.
I was sad to come to the end of this book, as I was when the series was canceled. Another interesting read of episode summaries, cast and crew interviews, and all the behind-the-scenes making of the fourth season.
