Can't believe it's been 10 years! I had to go back and read the first two stories to prepare for this one, which really built my excitement. I had totally forgotten that Kerry was a doctor. And that he and Kira were 'friendly'.
I knew I was gonna love this book when Jayne talks about counting points the first time we see her. This is my life right now. 😞. References were made to Jayne in the other books, but I couldn't imagine how she and Kerry would actually end up together. Ann Christopher made it quite interesting.
Kerry almost drove me a little crazy with the self-pity in the beginning. I understood it, but still. But once he got it together, I was proud of him and so happy for him. He was truly a good guy caught up in a horrible situation.
This book answered the many questions I had about how and why Kerry was working for Kareem. Kareem was truly the devil incarnate. Throughout the series I didn't think Wanda was much better, but she redeemed herself in the end. Kind of.
Was anybody else expecting KG to pop up alive in this book? Just me? Ok. I know Henri saw him being carried off the boat in a body bag, but...you never know with that guy.
I must admit, I was a little sad that fine a** Garciaparra didn't end up with a bae. I initially thought perky Sierra might be the lucky girl, but when he called her Kindergarten (I may have hollered at that), I figure that was out. Oh wells.
This is a great read. Many thanks for that cameo from my faves at the end! So happy to see them.
Do yourself a favor and read the whole series. It's excellent!
I received an ARC copy of this book. So initially when I started reading the story I found it to be kinda slow. But as I continued on in the story, I was totally absorbed with what was going on and could not wait to see what was going to happen next.
I felt like the characters were nicely developed. I could feel all the emotions that Kerry felt throughout the story. And boy did he have some challenging things he was dealing with. Jayne the issues she was dealing with the author did a nice job conveying that as well. I like how Kerry catered if you will to her feelings with those issues.
Also I thought the scenes in the story were well written. I could visualize everything which was nice. All in all I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others to read as well.
It was lovely to catch up with some characters from the first book, and to get a glimpse of how life is better without a psychopathic drug kingpin ruling your life.
This story is about Kerry's redemption and starts off where Kareem had gutted him with a knife. His return to basic medicine and helping the community led to him starting to feel he had something to offer. Falling for Jayne the lawyer who prosecuted him as a criminal informant leads to some challenges.
Just as life starts to get rosy his past life rears it's ugly head. Kerry's quick thinking and love for Jayne leads to a very satisfying conclusion to another drug kingpin.
Ann C! I believe this ride was more nerve wrecking !!! Omg!! I thought Kareem was going to pop back from the dead at any given moment; AGAIN!!! Sheesh! I loved how Kerry got himself together after being near death etc. jayne and Kerry budding relationship was interesting.. i wont give it away etc. the new characters Henry, for a man in his 60's he still had it! But I love how he had a change of heart tho❤️if u read books 1 and 2 in this series, you MUST read 3rd one to get the full story of 1 and 2!! U won't be disappointed!!!
It's been a LONG time coming...so glad to FINALLY see what came of the HORRIBLE monster that is Kareem...and the people who made several unsuccessful attempts to take him down...I was CAUGHT up in Jayne and Kerry's story...I was truly shocked and AWED at the many twists/turns in this book...and I was glad Kerry got a second chance at love and life...and it was nice catching up w/the rest of the crew from books 1 and 2...would love Garciaparra to get his own story...if he does hope it doesn't take as long as this one did...lol
I hate doing this, because I loved the second book in this series, but this one fell flat. Nothing happened in the first 65% of the book. Just a constant repetitive "I don't deserve her"/"I shouldn't want him" back - and-forth with no rising stakes, no meaningful conflict, no real danger or suspense, nothing. Yawn. I quit reading it at the 65% mark but I'm glad I came back to it because the ending wasn't half bad. Kerry was sympathetic and well - rounded, I just didn't feel the chemistry or Jayne's flat character that much.
Thoroughly enjoyed the third book in this series! Would recommend that you read the first two, so that you would see the development of the plot from book one. Well written, character and plot development good. The story kept you on your emotional toes so to speak.
Drop the Kindle Fire and walk away type of suspense in the Deadly series. Evil personified and growing by the minute, wrecking havoc everywhere it went. Evil finally overtaken in the most unlikely ways. Restitution made and HEAs all around. Although my heart is still pounding, I can say good job Ann Christopher.
I read the first two books in the series a few years ago and enjoyed both books. However, I did not know there was a third book in the series until recently and was thrilled. It is a great read and reinforces the reason why I love this author's book so much.
I strongly recommend all three books in the series.
I loved everything about this series .It had it all...suspense romance... great sex..most of LOVE.....and I loved hearing about the lives of previous characters...Anne Christopher is a great writer one of my favorite authors ! 5stars for me ..now I'm to my next Ann Christopher book..(after I recommend to my friends)
After years of waiting, Ann Christopher gives us a very good ending to the "Deadly" series. Jayne and Kerry were surprisingly great for each other. I truly recommend you read Deadly Pursuit and Deadly Desire before reading this book.
Wi?d wild ride!!!! Merry trying h to be a good person and still Kareem causes trouble even though he is finally deac. !or the fact Merry was able to get from under and love on with his love Jayne.
This was a nice and to the series. I love that she brought the first couple back and kind of tied up that loose end. I really enjoyed reading Kerry's story and feeling his pain and seeing him overcome it! All in all it was a great series.
Great ending for this 3 part series. Dr. Kerry Randolph's return was brilliantly written. His CI status gave him a clean slate and he went after the prosecutor as a love interest. And Jayne wasn't making it easy nor was Kareem's old friends. Love this book.
Kerry Randolph had to stone for a lot. He was determined to give up until he was rescued by Jayne Morrison. Secrets can destroy trust. Will Jayne learn to trust Kerry with her heart?
It’s been quite a while since Ann Christopher released Deadly Desires, and while I remembered the plot points of this trilogy, I knew it was best to catch up on Deadly Pursuit and Deadly Desires before diving into her latest offering, Deadly Secrets.
Deadly Secrets is the final installment in the romantic suspense trilogy surrounding Kareem Gregory’s illegal empire, and all who got tangled up in his web. While Kareem is the catalyst for the happenings in all three books, it’s the people closest to him (or those that crossed him) who take center stage.
Deadly Secrets is the story of his former lieutenant, Dr. Kerry Randolph, and assistant US Attorney Jayne Morrison.
If you have not read the previous two books, continue reading at your own risk. The books are closely weaved together and must be read in order.
A brief refresher: Kerry was the informant that led to Kareem’s takedown. When we left Deadly Desires, I was sure Kerry was dead! Someone had caught up to him, there was a plastic sheet on the floor and readers knew his end was near. I mean that was implied, wasn’t it? I guess that’s what I get for making assumptions because color me surprised when I found out that Kerry was alive and this book would be focused on him. It’s a good thing I reread the first two books because I even forgot that Kerry was a dang doctor. 🙁
Kerry knows that his life took a wrong turn and now that Kareem is presumed dead, he can go about setting new goals and becoming a better version of himself. Things aren’t always as easy as they seem, and temptation is at every corner for Kareem. The most lethal temptation? Attorney Jayne Morrison; the prosecutor who can’t stand him, but the one person he soon feels that he can’t live without.
What I liked: Jayne and Kerry weren’t your typical protagonists. I love that they were multi-layered individuals, there was definitely more than met the eye with these two. I appreciated the fact that a lot of my questions were answered regarding when, why, and how Kerry started working for Kareem. That tale of friendship, if we can even call it that, ran deep and it showed that just because people do bad things doesn’t necessarily make them bad people. There was a subtle build up of chemistry between Jayne and Kerry, in my opinion. It seemed organic even though they got together in an unconventional way. Throw in the crime, mystery, and drama with the romance that this trilogy is known for, and I was a happy girl!
What I didn’t like: Kerry annoyed me in the earlier pages with all of the self-pity. I understood it and respected his guilty conscience but after a while, he started to grate on my nerves with it. If you want people to start seeing you in a different light, you must make the first step yourself.
While I thought the book started out a bit slow, Deadly Secrets was worth the wait! It was a good end to the ‘Deadly’ series and I was happy to see cameos from all of the past characters to tie everything together.
