No names. No promises. One night neither of them can forget. Bess was supposed to be letting loose, taking one more step away from a man she’s ready to leave in her past. But being dragged to a bar is about as far from a night of fun as Bess can imagine. She’d rather be outside, enjoying peace and isolation, instead of crouched on the sticky floor while her best friend loses her lunch. And then abandons her. But when a handsome stranger saves Bess from more than just a night of awkward conversation, she decides to do something bold. Something daring. And it will change her life forever.
***Collateral Damage is the 11,000 word prequel to Loss Recovery and will leave you hanging on the edge of your seat.***
Wade is one of the hot guys in the Alaskan Security Team. He met "Carly" one night at a bar. The instant chemistry is enough to worth the risk of having a one night stand. It's a quick novella. But this introduction of the series will leave you wanting more. Jemma Westbrook knows how to get you with her very romantic writing. It's poetic! And I love it!
I read Loss Recovery first and then went to find the prequel which is this book. while the story how they met was fine I must say I was disappointed with how short this book / novella was. this book could easily been the prologue for Loss Recovery and made the characters story better. If I had read this book first I would not have gone on to want to read the series.
This was a short read about a woman transitioning from a loveless relationship meeting a stranger at a bar and having a one night stand. The only thing I didn’t like was the cliffhanger ending. While this story alone was enjoyable, I don’t think I’ll be finishing the 9 other books in this series.
Two loners, Bess and Wade, meet in a bar. It's a case of instalust as each gives the other a false name. Carly Smith and Whitt Daniels spend a night of rampant passion in a hotel and, in the morning he's in the wind leaving little of note, unless you count the leaking condom! As an introduction to the "Alaskan Security: Team Rogue" series it doesn't quite work but it was a quick read. 2 Stars.
This is a very short prologue/novella ish book. I like how witty Bess is being claiming her name is something else. Wade realized "Carly" gave him a fake name and since he has no intentions for her to know who he really is, he doesn't feel bad saying his name is Whitt.
"You don't have a windowless basement with a padlock on it do you?" "I'm staying in a hotel.".....'Still want to come with me?"
Whitt doesn't get close to women. Bess just got out of a long relationship, considering she is very shy she has never been with someone like Whitt before. However, they both change what their norms are for one night.
With only one night to write about this is so packet with details.
This is a really full on book to start this series . This is a truly fabulous story of two people meeting, and falling into feelings for each other. But know they are unlikely to see each other again. It is so well written you get real insights into what each of them hold as their principals, and know that they need this night to happen.
Short but amazing. It keeps you rushing to find out more. Can't wait read the next book and anything else that come afterward. Now and then you come across an amazing writer. A lot of people put words onto paper but there not writers. What I just read was written by an Author or Writer. When you don't want to put a book down and you can't wait to get to another book, that an Writer. Like I said OUTSTANDING... Thank you .
Bess meets Whitt in a bar, after she's left alone after her friend goes home with her boyfriend. She gives Whitt a made up name, but he does the same! They spend the night together and part. But there are consequences. Later Wade (Whitt) is going to be a bodyguard to a woman under threat. Imagine their surprise when they meet again!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book is skippable. I unknowingly started this series with book 13, Covert Operation. After finishing, I went back to book one, Loss Recovery. Collateral Damage is a prequel to Loss Recovery, basically a prologue. I do not think it’s necessary to read. It provides us with the details of the night Bess and Wade meet, but I feel we get enough in Loss Recovery to make this novella unnecessary. And honestly, if I had read this first, I might not have been in such a rush to continue the series.
I read this after I had read books 1-3 in the series. This is a good backstory that book one alludes to in terms of how Wade and Bess met. It is true to their characters and chemistry. The buildup of how their family grew was a fun cliffhanger as well. A good read and fast story.
In this much too short, one sitting read, Bess/Carly is nursing the break up blues but reluctantly agrees to join her roommate meeting friends for a drink. In fifteen minutes, Bess has been abandoned by all the women. Stunned by handsome stranger Whitt/Wade and considering a sleepover, the pair trade false names and regret it. Rating: 3.5stars
A prequel to Wade and Bess’s story that shows us what happened that night and the real feelings that they both shared but was afraid to act on. I loved we got more insight into the night that started it all and I absolutely loved Wade.
A short story packed with a caring mystery man that takes the time to make a woman feel important for maybe the first time in her life while both of them happy for one night.
Bess was out with her friend Cricket and Bess would rather stay home. Bess changed her name when she met Whitt at the bar and something clicked. This is a prologue to a series of books and from what I have read in this short story, it is going to a great series.
introduction to this new, to me, author. Well placed & strategic wording held interest and descriptive scenes used so very well to move this story along. Already have the next !
So I was looking for a quick read to get me out of my book funk, something that would peek my interest, captivate me and leave me wanting more. This book ticked all those boxes and now I'm desperate to find out more.
This is the most sensual book I've ever read. How every woman wants to beloved. The interaction with this couple leaves you wondering, hopeful and looking to what will happen next!
39 pages is a short story and should not be sold as a book. This is worse than a soap opera. It could introduce the beginnings of a novel but should be part of the book not a prequel.
Bess just ended a 5 year relationship she longs to see how a real man treats a lady
Fast read but once you finish one book you have to read the next in the series. Well done, the characters are well written so they can transfer to the next story.
I started reading the next book and got a few pages in and saw there was a .5 book. I grabbed it and I’m sooo glad I did! It is describes their beginning and it’s beautiful. Definitely a must read!
This book hooked me and I have to purchase the next book in the series. Omg it had me on edge, and when they reunited, I almost cried.... so sweet. As always 5 stars from me.
I absolutely loved this book as I now know the background of the next book. It definitely got my attention! Now I am ready to read the the next book. She is an awesome writer.
A good start to a new series. It’s nice to get insight before a book and series start. Liked these two characters. Can’t wait to read what happens next.
