Sara Randolph is head chef in a bar frequented by the San Francisco Strikers hockey team. With her history of having her heart broken by athletes, she really should be avoiding them. They’re her Kryptonite, and left winger Colin O’Sullivan is at the top of the No Touch List, in spite of his delicious flirtations.
Colin “Sully” O'Sullivan is tired of being second best. His home team took the Stanley Cup the year after he was traded to San Francisco. He’s been on the top line on the Strikers for a few years and now his spot is in question. But when the ginger-haired jokester lands a night in the arms of Sara, he thinks his luck is finally changing. Until she tells him it was all a terrible mistake.
Sara can’t believe she let herself get carried away with Sully. He’s an athlete. A player in all variations of the word. Been there. Done that. Never again. But there’s no denying their attraction is hot enough to melt all the ice in the arena. When it comes to a faceoff between them, are they willing to own up to the truth about how they really feel about each other?
This is an 80,000 novel with a HEA and NO cliffhanger! Readers 18+ This series is connected with the Love by the Bay series, but each book can be read as a standalone.
USA Today Bestselling Author, Stephanie Kay has always loved a good romance, and she got hooked on the dirty ones at the tender age of 14, when she told her mother that if the cover wasn’t a bodice ripper, then there was no sex in the book. As an avid mystery reader, her mother never checked to see if Stephanie was lying. Twenty plus years later, Stephanie’s most prized possession is her Kindle, and she may have a Hallmark movie obsession.
She has called California, Maryland, and Rhode Island her home, but now lives in New Hampshire with her husband where she asks him incessant questions until he escapes to go hiking in the mountains. That’s the only time she can get him out of the house so she can get her writing in. Married couples shouldn’t both work from home!
Sports were never her thing, but after beta reading for another hockey author and buying NHL Game Center within one month of watching her first hockey game a few years ago, she dove into learning everything she could about the sport and the hot men that play it. Now she spends her spare time visiting hockey arenas in the name of research and loving every second of it.
I read this book as it was the next book in a series that I have read, but I really didn't enjoy it. It started out pretty good, but the farther I got the more I disliked Sara. I found her reasons for pulling away from Sully were flimsy which made her insecurities seem forced just to add some conflict to the story. I love HEA books, but when she doubted him again, because of a phone call from her mother who she hadn't spoken with in years, I was hoping he would just not take her back and find someone else. I finished the book mostly because I don't like to leave books unfinished.
This was probably my favorite of the series so far. I really liked the idea of these two pining for each other for so long, but never taking that next step for whatever reason. But, I think I also wanted these two to find that epic love together, because of other things that were working against them. I wanted to see Sully be a priority, to be number one to someone. Hearing about how he played second fiddle to his brothers, and watching someone come in and take his place on the line broke my heart a little. He needed this to work. The biggest obstacle was Sara. I really liked her, but she just could not get out of her own way. So, it was a bit of a struggle to sit by and watch them fight fate, but they were fire together, and it was easy to see they belonged to one another.
Holy mother of hot! Stephanie Kay has stepped up the heat factor with Faceoff the fourth installment of her San Fransisco Strikers series. Sara & Sully's story has been hinted at in the previous books and WOW these two are intense and burn up the page. Sara isn't perfect and might frustrate you but Sully will make you swoon to the 100th degree. Grab this hockey hunk and sexy chef today. I can't wait for the next Strikers installment!
Have you been wondering about the chemistry between Sully and Sara for awhile? Me too I was super excited Stephanie wrote their story. Is it hot? Is it steamy? Yes and yes with more! I love books that deal with insecurities and how we all view things differently. Sara has some issues to overcome and you want to shake her but that’s a good writer for you making you feel. I love Sully he maybe my new favorite in the series for sure. A truly relatable story that sucks you in and I couldn’t put it down.
What a great addition to this series. I love hockey romance and this is a great one. The author knows hockey and there is a lot of actual hockey in this book. I enjoyed the story and the characters are wonderful. Sully is a big-hearted player with love for the sport and his team. Sara is the chef at the guys' local hangout and has a protective love for her sister and nephew. I liked the interaction between these two as they found their love for each other. GREAT BOOK!!
Face off was good, a long drawn out battle finally coming together due to past relationships and family drama. Can they finally make it work? There is a wedding drama I hope we hear about, it sounds like someone may crash a wedding and I want to see how it pans out, there seems to be some unfished family drama in Boston too, why would this little brother be such a jerk.
I really enjoyed reading Faceoff because Stephanie doesn't disappoint. It is funny how Sara and Sully have been dancing around each other for months as they have watched their friends pair off. Neither are looking for long term. Sara isn't "interested" in hockey players. Sully is all in before Sara because she is afraid and ends up hurting Sully.
This is another great book by Stephanie and as always intense, funny and an entertaining read. Give this series a shot!
As a diehard hockey fan, the off season was tough, until I found Stephanie Kay's hockey series. What I love about her writing is the hockey details. She is a fan! I was privileged to read Faceoff early and was not disappointed. Thank you for writing a story of real people, real problems and sharing their journey to happiness!
Breaking tradition, his of never in a relationship, hers of picking the wrong men
Two people with baggage he's a hot hockey players who never "dated" he's been after her but she doesn't want another athlete . They. Finally give in to the heat of their attraction. A Story of getting past "the past " and enjoying the sweet hot now. A good read
I volunteered to read this story for an honest review and really enjoyed it. The struggles the characters go through were well written and real to life. Loved how characters from previous books were included
I love that this book surprised me. What I thought was going to happen, didn't! After each book of the series I can't wait to start the next. I anticipate a bad book hangover coming on!
I didn't recall this series very quick but when I did remember I was pleased to be reading it.
Sully & Sara were super cute. Sara was almost the commitment phobe. Sully seemed the most solid one. But together they were a sweet couple and I enjoyed their romance.
I enjoyed watching Sully and Sara finally find their way to each other for real, but at times this book seemed to ramble on and yet there were things that were left unfinished so it was as satisfying as I was hoping for. I still wouldn't have missed it as part of the series.
This is the 4th book in the San Francisco Strikers series. It is the story of hockey star Colin “Sully” O’Sullivan and chef Sara Randolph. They had circled one another for years and finally give into their attraction. Sara’s insecurities keep surfacing creating bumps in their road to happiness.
Okay story, but a lot of loose ends left unresolved. Sara is really whiny and cowardly. Made it hard to root for her HEA. The ending was rushed and unsatisfactory. Just too many unanswered story lines.
Enjoyed this book better than the previous one. Liked Colin a lot but took time to warm up to Sara who was a bit of a Debbie downer. Would have liked a conclusion to the alienation of parents but otherwise liked the book. Flowed well
If you’ve been following the clan from The Strikers you will love this one. We finally see Sarah find love after sacrifice for her sister. It’s fun and delicious
Love this one!!!! Can’t wait for the next in the series. Can I get me a man like Sully lol. Glad they both found stopped being idiots and are finally together.
3rd Person Dual POV Heroine: Chef. Hero: hockey player. Can StandAlone, but expect previous series characters to turn up. These two have been dancing around each other throughout the rest of the series & now they get their turn. She’s had her fill of athlete boyfriends, can he change her mind?
